Best Filipino Food in Metro Detroit | Eater Detroit

"It’s best to come in the morning to eat before the food runs out at this turo turo or “point-point” spot in Warren. Owned by Sonia Sutter, the hybrid restaurant/grocery store offers Filipino classics cafeteria-style, such as longanisa, laing, fried pompano fish, paksiw na bangus (stewed milkfish), upo (sauteed bottle gourd), and adobo. Filipinas also carries specialty items like banana sauce and ready-made desserts like ube halaya. You’ll also find colorful sweet treats like hopia in a display cooler. The interior of the spot is embellished with visual reminders of the islands, like a painting of the Taal Volcano or trinkets decorated with the country’s flag. Filipinas also serves as a shipping point for balikbayan boxes, or packages of gifts and essentials people send to their loved ones back home in the Philippines." - Eleanore Catolico

Where to Find Filipino Food in Metro Detroit | Eater Detroit

"A family-run hybrid grocery and turo-turo eatery in Warren that has served a local Filipino community since 2010, operated by an immigrant owner who cooks alongside her parents and brother. The compact dining room and market are decorated with tropical touches that evoke the Philippines, and customers—many traveling from other Michigan cities—point to cafeteria-style chafing dishes to order homestyle classics such as pork and chicken adobo (a soy-vinegar-brown sugar stew), creamy taro-leaf laing, longganisa sausages, crunchy sisig, and fried pompano. Word-of-mouth and a Facebook presence sustain steady, nostalgic business, and the room hums with Tagalog conversation as diners pile rice onto plates and feast at plastic-covered tables." - Eleanore Catolico

First time visit but will be back! Came close to closing so there were only a few choices but we got the marinated beef and rice box, half order of lumpia, a piece of tropical mango cake and a halo halo! The food was great, and the lady was so sweet!

There was no dine in at the time because of COVID-19, take out is good. Great price for $7 for 2 dishes and rice. They have a small grocery store and care box service in one side of the restaurant..it is more like a small eatery. Food is fresh. I had dinuguan and jackfruit cooked in coconut milk and my husband had chicken curry and chicken adobo. We were satisfied with the lunch. I wouldn't order the dinuguan in the future as it's a mix of innards and meat, not what I prefer. Taste is good but if you are looking for beautiful dishes with great presentation and superb taste, not a place for you. More on carinderia type food(small eatery by roadsides in the Philippines) reminds me of high school and hustle years in back in the Philippines where you will just buy food around the corner of where you live as it is cheaper.

We always go here every Sunday lunch. Good Filipino food, warm and friendly staff. Its recommended to reserve your food through their FB page as it can be sold out real fast. Always our go to place for Filipino food and products
