Best Filipino Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"This casual buffet-style restaurant is ideal for those who want to sample various dishes in one sitting. Make your way through a generous selection of Filipino staples, including crispy lechon, flavorful kare-kare, and fried lumpia. Save room for the sticky-sweet biko and chewy pichi-pichi for dessert, and sip refreshing drinks like kalamansi citrus juice and sago’t gulaman made with sago or tapioca pearls, agar-agar jelly, and a brown sugar syrup." - Marcy de Luna

Google
This was a random find for me since I live so close but never looked into it. Definitely a hole in the wall type of restaurant, don’t come in and expect great service and high end quality restaurant. It’s definitely like eating at your family house type of food. Everything was warm to hot in temperature. Food was great, everything seasons well. I haven’t had a lot of Filipino food before so I tried a bit of everything. Dessert was included and very sweet. I was told by the owner that the food menu change every day and weekends had the bigger selection. Pricing was great, $16 per person on weekday and $18 for weekends. I’m coming back with my family and friends, a good spot for cheap and tasty home cook food.

Came into this restaurant yesterday with my wife. Yeah, I looked around and it was pretty dirty and pretty run down. No one was there, no 1 greeted us? It took us ten or fifteen minutes for them to even decide. We were there. I was not being judgmental at first because i've seen rundown restaurants before that had pretty good food. But this place did not live up to that premise. The food was horrible, the food was cold and I do mean all the food, the fish had bones in it, and I do mean a lot of bones, and to top it off, they had a sign that says thirty dollars a head. And I told my significant other they've got to be kidding me!!!!!! We started to leave and all of a sudden someone popped out of the back kitchen. We vocalized our displeasure, and the woman said," oh, no problem", we give you discount. Lowered it from thirty dollars a-head to twelve dollars a-head????? I fully expected she would comp the meal because of it.She seemed resigned to this situation. It was disgusting and terrible. Even the desserts were not refrigerated properly.they are supposed to be cold and hard instead they were mushy and warm (something I expected the hot food to be) but this isn't the end of the story. I got home. I watched a little bit of TV and went to bed. Awakened by a grumbling in my stomach got up immediately 😫 and ran to the bathroom 🚻 and was greeted by several horrible rounds of diarrhea. Returned back to bed and a few hours past and again was interrupted by a bowel eruption finally forcing me to take some diarrhea medication 💊 immediately to stem the tide. Needless to say, I will not be attending this restaurant ever again. No, will I say anything good about it? A horrible experience overall. One I don't intend to repeat. And hope that this review prevents anybody else from having the same experience

Google
My wife had been bothering me to go to Filipino restaurant. So we did a search and it seems like the ratings were pretty good. We went into this place. There was nobody in there. Everything in the line for the buffet was cold. Nobody came out and greeted us. Nobody off with us or asked us about any drink. The fish that was available had nothing but bones in it. The noodles were all cold just about everything and there was cold. The things that were supposed to be called the desserts. They were all mushy under some kind of a light that caused them to be soft. They're not. They weren't cool to the things that were supposed to be cool when not cool and the things that were supposed to be hot. I went out hot and it says the best of Filipino while I'm writing this up as the worst of the Filipino and don't come here. Also, the place is dirty, very dirty like no one.Cares about any cleanliness. We complained that someone who took our money telling them that it was terrible and she offered us a discount instead of $30 per person. She only charges 12.She should have just come to me Al altogether because it was just terrible. We will not come back here ever again. And we and we and we will recommend that anybody else that wants to come here unless they change their way of doing things they don't come either

Magaling silang magluto—parang luto ng nanay ko! My experience at Filipiniana was overall positive, and I’m excited to share why. From the warm greeting at the entrance to my first plate, it felt like a trip back to the Philippines. I got to indulge in a variety of Filipino classics such as pancit, lumpia, beef kaldereta, kare-kare, pork BBQ, chicken and pork adobo, and a delightful spread of desserts. The food is authentic, it’s like stepping into the heart of the Philippines. That is both the best and the most honest critique I can give. The flavors were spot-on delicious and familiar but like in many buffets back in the Philippines, a few dishes, like the lumpia, were cold or lacked consistency. Still, there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t enjoy. My personal favorites? The kaldereta and pork BBQ, hands down! Don’t leave without trying their cantaloupe juice! It is fresh, sweet, and refreshing. The price is very reasonable, which makes the experience even better. I’ll definitely be back for more Filipino comfort food!

Do not go to the location on Bissonnet. I have never said this before about any restaurant, so let this be a warning. The Houston Bureau of Environmental Health needs to check this place out. Almost all the food in the shallow trays were very cold, while only the deep soup trays were hot. There was absolutely NO service, also water was self serve and the buttons on the dispenser were filthy. While we were there the cashier had to be told a couple of times by the manager to assist the customers waiting at the cashier's station. Aside from all the bad, what food I did taste generally did tasted pretty good.

Yummy IT! (Yummy It Food)

We wanted some comfort food but didn’t have anything specific in mind. After some searching we’ve decided on Filipiniana Restaurant…can’t go wrong with a buffet when we didn’t have any cravings at the time just some good grub to fill our empty stomach. We got there 5 minutes after opening…the place was empty, we were the 2nd customer that day. The guy behind the counter told us to sit anywhere and help ourselves to the buffet. Not all the food is out yet, but it’s fine because there was enough for round 1. Everything looks delicious so we grabbed a little bit of this and a little bit of that. As we sat in our little booth taking our first bite…both of our eyes lit up and smiled at each other. We devoured our plates in silence while anticipating for round 2 of this deliciousness. By the time we finished round 1, all the other food items are out and piping hot, and the place is packed. Round 2 was just as delicious and comforting as the first. We both commented that we didn’t feel like we were eating at a restaurant….it feels more like eating at a friend’s grandma’s house. The desserts were ok, not great… maybe because we were so full from stuffing our faces with all the yumminess. We’ve eaten at a lot of buffets but this place is definitely our new favorite. The food was amazing and comforting. The staff was friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

So so good! Authentic filipino food from filipino people. The prices are reasonable and staff are kind and attentive. Would recommend to anyone who wants to try the flavors of the Philippines in Houston!

Google
You only need to go to the Filipiniana Buffet Restaurant at 9671 Bissonnet if you are truly craving Filipino food. It was absolutely ideal for me to get there yesterday at roughly 11:30 AM. The cuisine was delicious and authentic, and the selection was excellent (from the appetizers to the desserts). I can name all of the foods I like to eat for you, but I won't. It's delicious and filling, and I'm full! This is where you should eat lunch if you are extremely hungry! Highly recommended - Lina will truly look after you, so look after her as well! Check out every image from yesterday.

Yelp
Placed a to go order and really liked the hospitality here. We tried a bit of everything once home and I must say we really enjoyed the meal. You get a good bit of food for the price and everything is served fresh. The meal was definitely heavy so I'd for sure return again when in the mood for comfort food.

Yelp
Food is delicious overall. Some things were like warm but still delicious to me. Food had a ton a flavor but I am not Filippino so maybe this white guy finds this place WAY UNDERRATED in the comments. They have a Menudo here that is WAY BETTER than the Mexican version!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food mostly not hot enough too much soy sauce. Bangus too fried. The dessert are too sweet

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get Filipino food at a reasonable price. The selection has been plentiful, fresh, and delicious when I have gone. The service is friendly and the owners are usually always there. Love this place very much as they always give back to and support the Fil-Am community. PRO PARENT TIP: This is a buffet, so even picky eaters can sample everything and likely find something to eat.

Daniel B.

Yelp
This was my first time coming here. When I walked in they told me I can grab food and be seated. Staff was friendly , but the buffet line was just not being kept up with. Some food was good but others was dry. I think this placed has a lot of potential if the food remains fresh. The one thing that gets 5 stars is their fresh mango juice and melon juice! Soo good!

Yelp
This was better than I expected. My buddy found this spot so we checked it out. Parking is easy. We visited for lunch on a weekday. The food is buffet style all you can eat. The food was very tasty and fresh. If you like this kind of food you will enjoy the restaurant. The price was good and cheap and the restaurant was easy to get in and out. Overall good experience and will go again.

Yelp
This is like my 3rd time having filipino food. A few years ago i went to the location on 1960 for buffet and the food was cold. I thought i might check out this place for the first time today. They had a few dishes most of them were pork and beef. I am not sure because i am not from the same culture, most of the dishes were made with vinegar because they are sour which is hard to enjoy. Some people complained about the food temperature but to me it was slightly warmer than the room temperature and it was okay for me. I really enjoyed their cold dessert at the buffet line that has shredded young coconut, jelly, raisins, grapes and maybe made with condensed milk. It is pinkish color. I loved it so much. Service: Plates look all old and some looked dirty. Chinese buffet places will come and take the plates away from you when you are done but they have customers' dirty dishes piling up on the tables. Not even once someone came and cleared them off our table. One couple brought their dog inside the restaurant. The dog was barking. I was like if it is not a service dog, they shouldn't be allowed to bring a pet inside where people eat. Nowhere on the dog's body that said service dog. My overall experience at this place during my first visit was somewhat disappointing. Weekend lunch $14.99. I won't be back.

Yelp
Before making this review, I sent the company an email. I gave them a chance to respond directly but I have yet to hear back. Really sad that this review is even having to go up like this. I always try my best to support my kababayans (fellow Filipinos). I will go ahead and preface that I have never eaten at their restaurant. I only found them through Yelp and Google, we decided to order a couple of dishes from them for Christmas Eve. There is a designated parking lot outside of the restaurant. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door that they were doing pick up orders only. When we got inside, sure enough, they had all of their buffet area and tables organized with the pickup orders and who knows how many others were being prepared in the back. We ordered Kare Kare and fresh Lumpia. The Kare Kare is usually served with bagoong (it's like a shrimp paste) and the fresh lumpia is usually served with a peanut sauce. The order came with the bagoong but there was no peanut sauce. We ended up making our own. The photo that you're seeing is indeed a pushpin. This pushpin was found in the Kare Kare. Thank goodness we found it and it never made it into someone's mouth or stomach! This is definitely unacceptable. I don't think I need to say anything more.

Yelp
Food was very good. I think timing is everything with this restaurant. It's a small Buffay. Very good authentic food. A little slow on refilling the empty dishes on the Buffay. But it was quiet and relaxed. And I would recommend it.

Keith O.

Yelp
Definitely a fave among local Filipinos. There's a great variety of choices. Authentic. Reasonably priced for a lunch buffet. Will definitely return again if able. Try to go early on the weekend as it fills up.

Yelp
I have been to this place twice. Both times the food was cold. The food is kept on warmers but the warmers must not be turned on. The food is good quality and prepare well. The crispy pata is better than expected. The chicken BBQ is flavored perfectly. The garlic rice is good too, but since it's all served cold you can't appreciate it But strangely ginataan is the only thing that is warm. It's very good but it's mostly tarot root with maybe one piece of jackfruit in the whole batch. It's just the luck of the draw if you find it. And there is no purple yam at all. The turon is the best I've ever had. It is perfectly crisp without being soggy. The fruit is firm with a nice mouth feel. The outside has a glaze of sugar that is crackly and crunchy. I've never had anything better.
google avatar

Antho L.

Yelp
I really didn't know what to expect based on the reviews but let's say I was pleasantly surprised. The watery looks a little sketch on the outside but inside it's very homey and when I saw the food bar, my eyes popped out of their sockets lol. They had a really decent and varied selection of offerings. Albeit some of the entrees were better than the others like the beef sinigang soup and the dinuguan. The Kare Kare was pretty good too and they had crispy pata and a few other things such as fried chicken and fried fish. There was a choice of white rice or garlic fried rice too. I totally loaded my plate and side bowls of the soup and dinuguan and ate to my heart's content. The owner lady was nice and went I asked to do a take away she gave me a styrofoam container and a big one for the soup. I also bought some turon which is banana wrapped in eggroll wrapper and coated with melted sugar, and a bottle of the Nata de Coco for the Filipino fruit salad I was planning to make for an event. The flavors weren't the best I've ever had but certainly not the worst either. I'll definitely be coming back here again in the future with friends.

Yelp
We went to try the lunch buffet here. It's definitely a hole in the wall and mommapoppa joint. I got the Kare kare, fried pusit, Siningang, chicken curry, chicken adobo, fried rice, and some kind of pancit. I loved the fried pusit and kare kare. Adobo and garlic rice were good too. It's not in the nicest area but worth a try if you want a sampling of different Filipino dishes. I would come back and try Kamayan style dining for 20 pp. For 9.99 lunch, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Plus the staff here are really nice.
google avatar

Delmar R.

Yelp
I liked the place, food was ok; went at 4:30 pm, there was a limited selection of food that is leftover from lunch. It is always nice trying something new and different, never tried Filipino food before.

Yelp
I was looking for a different Filipino restaurant but for some reason, Google Maps took me here. We were looking for a bite to eat before flying back home and was craving Filipino food. We were already skeptical because of the strip mall that this place is located. But we decided to go against our better judgement and try this place out anyway. I mean, there is always good that comes out of going against your better judgement, right?? Walking in, I wasn't expecting what I saw. The layout was a little weird, but weird could be good? The layout felt like this place was ready for a karaoke marathon... With a buffet on the side. Big screen to your right as you walk in, and all the tables set up so that you can see the screen. The food is placed towards the back. And next to the bathrooms.. I'll talk about the bathrooms soon. The place doesn't also scream cleanliness, but didn't really see anything that could be significantly unclean. The food in the buffet consists of the typical Filipino staple: Kaldereta, Adobo, Kare-Kare, Pata, Pansit, etc. Food is on 2 buffet tables: 1 side is the rice, and foods that are in broths, sauces, etc. The other side is the fried foods, and veggies/fruits. I tried everything except the veggies and fruits. And pretty much everything had the taste and texture of food that has been sitting out for a while under the heating lamps. The fried foods were no longer crispy, just rubbery and hard. The liquids of the other foods were drying out and the taste and texture told the same story. The bathrooms were a little interesting. You go in through a narrow door. This door was so narrow that I would question I would fit through it if I ate with my full potential. Then you go through another door, 1 for men, 1 for women. Fair warning to the people who identify as other... They don't have a door for you, and they won't have space in the bathroom area to expand to add another bathroom. The bathrooms are very small. If you are needing to do number 2, your knees will be pressed against the door. Good news is you will be ensured, no one will open the door on you. Bathrooms are dirty though, so I suggest lining up the seat with toilet paper so you don't catch herpes on your private regions. I mostly blame Google for taking me to this place. I was lucky that my stomach held strong during the flight home. I am not sure about the other in my party.

Yelp
My wife sent me to pick up an order of 100 Pork Lumpiang Shanghai that we promised to bring to a party. I was given two directives: pick up the lumpiang and do not eat any of them. Apparently, I was the only one at the party who had not tasted this deliciousness. I arrived at 6:15 Saturday evening to the Bissonnet location only to find out that they closed at 6! Yikes! I knew I was in trouble as a bead of sweat rolled down my brow. Frantically I looked for the number hoping that someone was still there. No answer! "I'm a dead man" I thought to myself as I turned to get in my truck. How would I explain this one? As I was almost back home (25 minutes away) the owner calls stating that he missed my call. I explained to him my dilemma but told him it was completely my fault and I was hoping to catch someone at the restaurant before that might still be there. What happened next was beyond amazing. This kind man personally went to the restaurant, cooked a fresh batch of 100 Pork Lumpiang Shanghai and THEN DELIVERED THEM DIRECTLY TO THE PARTY over 35 minutes away! Filipiniana just won over this customer for a lifetime. Oh and once I tasted one of these little slices of heaven I realized why it was so important to get them to this party. Thank you sir. You saved the evening.

Yelp
The flavor of the food is ok but most of the food wasn't warm. It all was room temperature except the soup

Yelp
Not the best Filipino food. Ordered for catering- Did not look appetizing and food was not good. Not worth the price

Jun A.

Yelp
I use to like coming to this restaurant but as the years pass this restaurant is slowly going down in quantities and varieties of food. The food are now either brand or too salty. The buffet menu has very little choices. I visited this place twice in two months to see if it was just a fluke and it was not a fluke. The quality and variety is down
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
My boyfriend introduced this place to me, uncertain of whether I'd enjoy it or not. It's a really really casual dining experience and in a hole in the wall establishment. You walk in and go straight to the buffet area to grab a plate and food. It's not a large buffet selection but decent enough to try different types of food/ desserts. Weekend buffet price:$11.99 (not bad at all) Service was good and friendly.

Gabe S.

Yelp
The buffet line was okay, foods were cold. It used to be much better. Will try again in 2-3 months and see

Yelp
Best Philippine food ever you like sitting in the restaurant and they have life music and you feel like you're actually in the Philippines!
google avatar

Carol B.

Yelp
Used to be a plentiful buffet worth the money but the last 2 times we visited was NOT worth paying the same price for half the amount of food to choose from. The air conditioning needs to be improved since it felt so hot inside. I told the person in charge that day of the heat problem and her response was " it's really hot here" and that's it! To the owners: a word of advice... clean up & improve your service before it's too late.

Yelp
Mabhuy. My friend of FYP(Filipino Young Professional) invited me to an event. I was there. There were many parking spots. I entered into the restaurant.People were singing songs.I saw a big karaoke screen.I am guessing that the karaoke machine has both English and tagalog songs.Usually, the restaurant has some buffet.FYP generously gave me free foods.Salamat.Regarding the foods, I had tired some of them before. It seemed that they were very typical Filipino ones.I liked the dessert. People of this restaurant were very nice. I rated 5 stars, because I got free foods.I can't write anything negative about the restaurant.LOL.

Yelp
Food was ok, but I've been to far more amazing Filipino buffets. Also, it was a confusing experience; the hostess just stood there so I asked if I could sit anywhere, she said yes so I did. Then waited for someone to take my drink order... but no one came... I looked around and there isn't a soda fountain just bottled drinks in a display fridge. So I asked the hostess about drinks, she said just get one from the fridge. Food was ok, drink was ok, but it was a bit odd how it was set up

Yelp
A great hole in the wall on Bissonett and has been here for years. One of the few Filipino places in Houston. Love their pork and chicken adobo.
google avatar

Chelsea E.

Yelp
If you are craving for a lot of Filipino foods, this is one of the restaurants you should go to when in Houston. They have a large variety of food and it was really good. The only thing I noticed was they did not replace each dishes immediately. When we went to the buffet area, foods were almost gone. I loved the kare-kare but when I was looking for meat, there wasn't, but a lot of bones instead. I was also craving for the dinuguan, but there was not much so I ended up getting the last portion and it was all fats. But it was fine since it was really good though. I took the sinigang soup, and its sourness was the one I was really looking for. It was soooo good!! The tinola was there but it was only just vegetables and no meat. So I did not get to try it. The pancit was good too, but they don't have any lime wedges for it (it should be better with it) So it's now time for desserts, we had the buko pandan, which I really like for its creaminess. I also liked their sapin sapin and maja blanca. They also have ginataang mais and bilo-bilo. The ambiance was nice as they have like a background instrumental music of OPMs which was a little bit sad. So it was like a wedding reception or a debut party. They have the TFC projection screen but it wasn't working when I was there. And if people want to take foods home, they are welcome to do so. But with charges for depends on sizes and meats. (Look for the picture for details) Overall, it was good for me. As I am a filipino and i am used to that kind of set-up. But for foreigners, they might have their own standards but it is worth to try something new!

Yelp
I remember my first time here, and I was fascinated. Sadly, the thrill was gone when I returned a few days ago. The rice was too dry, the chicken adobo was too bland, and there could've been more selection-wise. Where was the Bicol Express? I liked the kare-kare and the pork BBQ, however. With a growing Filipino community in Houston, thankfully there are other choices when it comes to Pinoy cuisine.
google avatar

Yelp
Very humble and simple place! All foods are marvelous! Promise! Pinoy foods that are very price friendly and delicious foods. pero kung maarte kayo sa lugar baka marami kayong masabi dito. They do their very best kahit sa panahon ng pandemic. Support Pinoy!

Yelp
SARAP SULIT! Food is SOO good. It will remind you of a homecooked meal or even those potluck get togethers. The garlic fried rice, the lumpia, kare kare, the soups! This is the epitome of filipino comfort food. The desserts are amazing too. All of them! I have not been to a high quality filipino restaurant in quite awhile. This one reminds you of culture, family, and the comfort of a homecooked meal. It really hits the feels. The ones in California are overpriced and quality is incredibly disappointing. California is just completely underperforming with no apology to its denizens or tourists. It gets by from hype and nothing more. Im glad to have stumbled upon this gem. I could see them going far if they decide to expand. Los Angeles doesnt deserve this gem. And thats to speak highly of this establishment. #NotLosAngeles

Yelp
As anyone who reads my reviews or knows my personality, I LOVE buffets. Not only because I like to eat a lot, I just the variety and quickness that a buffet brings. As far as their main entrees go, it's a small selection but I enjoyed their spareribs and pancit. But my favorite was their fried chicken. The other meats were OK, did not really know the names. But what bumped this review into a 4 star was the dessert. I had their version of sticky rice and splashed it with a bit of warm coconut milk! I had two servings of this alone. They also offer karaoke, which was odd but could be a lot of fun. On this lunch trip no one was singing away.
google avatar

Vicente N.

Yelp
So unfortunately, there were limited-selections available due to COVID-19 situation and sub-max capacity. The food tasted great but were cold. Will definitely re-visit though!
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Delicious food. So many choices! Everything was flavorful and bright. They have complimentary juices which are so refreshing :) definitely need to try.
google avatar

Peter C.

Yelp
This buffet was actually healthy looking in my opinion. Majority of the items on the menu was typically meat and veggies and for a gym rat like me this fits my diet. The thing that made this a 5 star was the dessert. My friend combined the rice cake and coconut milk together making a perfect ending to my lunch. Did I mention they have karaoke available?! Yes! You can eat a delicious meal and sing your heart out. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
First of all, it's not the best Filipino restaurant in Houston. We came here because our favorite Filipino restaurant was closed today. No one said hello or led us to the table. There was a staff sitting and eating. We looked at her and she was staring at us. And when you paid they didn't say thank you or anything. How funny! The food was okay. The meat was good but vegetable dish some overcooked, some not cooked enough. They had various kind of desserts. Well. With this experience, we are not sure we are going to come back. We feel unwelcome in this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Not good. Not sure if we got there late but food was not fresh. Cold and some are tough to bite.
google avatar

Klash H.

Yelp
Small resturant with buffet style setting. I had the Chicken Adobo and some beef something which I never had before. The adobo was good full of flavor. It reminded me of the food my middle school best friends mom Martina use to make. However I also ordered a bulk order of lumpia for work and it was just mediocre.

Yelp
Father's Day lunch here for our party of 14. Free cantaloupe drinks for the Dads. Adult price of all you can eat buffet was $10.99 for the weekend. The foods were fine, I had better and I had worst. For less than $12, I had no complaint. On Tuesday, the price drops to $7.99 for the day. I wouldn't mind visiting on Tuesday for a decent meal.

Yelp
Bought goldilocks hopia yesterday lunch time, brought it home and when I opened the package the hopia have molds. They don't store/handle the food properly. This hopia was on display at room temperature.

Yelp
Very friendly atmosphere, family oriented and very restaurant. I will definitely come again with my family. Lots of parking space and I can say food is great.

Yelp
So I came here on a Sunday morning as soon as they opened and it was great! I gave four stars instead of five because I've been here previously later in the day and the food was not as fresh. For any newcomers to this restaurant, I would suggest you come early as soon as the place opens so that you get everything fresh and hot. So in terms of ambience, it's definitely the typical filipino buffet that I've seen throughout the city with tables, booths, TFC on tv (filipino tv channel), and a serve your self type of buffet for everything. It's very casual so no need to dress up for fine dining. There was a little girl at the front desk who was cute, recommending things to try and buy before we left. The food was great this time around since it was fresh. There were a ton of classics to try including the Kare Kare, sinigang, tinola, palabok, pancit, caldereta, adobo, palabok, dinuguan, fried fish, crispy pata, etc. I had no complaints, but of course I still prefer my moms own cooking. The desserts were so delicious, especially the palitaw, kutsinta, and biko. Not too sweet, which was a plus. Everything was delicious and I definitely recommend coming here if you want to try some authentic filipino food or if you're filipino and miss your mom'a cooking. They also have a location in Spring which I think tastes even better and the restaurant is nicer in appearance. I've even seen a live singer there once in awhile. I will definitely be coming back again soon.

Yelp
This was my first Filipino food experience. I was expecting it to be spicier but it was more bland than expected. I don't remember the names of the stuff I got but I liked the stuff that started with a D that several people on here have mentioned . It looked disgusting (like black tar) and my brother refused to try it but I had two servings of it. I also really liked the blood soup as well. Their chicken curry was good but they used chicken legs and that just slows you down . The flavor was great though. Surprisingly, I also had three servings of their turnip greens. They were great! The foods we didn't like wasn't because of taste it was more about the texture we aren't use to. The location was awful! Prostitutes walking around and pants around the knees. I had met my brother there and he brought in a couple of guns lol just in case we needed to protect ourselves. Considering the location and outside though the inside is quite clean and I never felt scared . The woman behind the counter was very nice . We didn't feel out of place at all. I can't rate the food since I never had any other Filipino food but I think to try things out this is a good place. I certainly wouldn't go at night.

Yelp
The food was always pretty good. Similar to home cooking. They charge a very decent price per person too! The selections are pretty much the same each day, but it's a large variety! The desserts and drink desserts hits home too! The best quality tend to be during the lunch rush! They make the food fresh, ready for patrons. They close pretty early, so I've never really been here during a dinner rush. But in between hours like 3-4pm, there aren't much customers, so they slow down on making fresh trays for the food line. I've ordered catering from them as well. The customer service over the phone is excellent, and they accommodate for early pick-ups, and requests. They were excellent in explaining the menu as well. The food picked up were delicious as well. My 5-stars was mostly influenced by the terrific experience from the catered order.

Yelp
Whenever we have the chance we go here to eat, we like it so much we get them to cater to my silver wedding anniversary and they did not disappoint me, my guests said we served good food and really tasty, can't believe when I said it's from Filipiniana in Bustonera!

Yelp
Of the Asian foods available in the H, I think Filipino food is the most slept on. When my crew gets together, they want Sushi, Sichuan, Korean BBQ, ...Vietnamese. Nobody ever has a hankering for some Kare Kare. As a result, most of the Filipino food i've had has come via somebody's Mom being hella generous. So what would happen if I stepped into the wild side? There are 2 Pinoy spots on Bissonnett, this one is right across the street from my job. Close By? And it's a buffet? Weekday with a Coke is 10 bucks and some change? "Once again it's on" (c) Ice Cube. Decor/Ambiance - This is the sort of spot you bring your true love, not a first date. It's bare bones with some tables, and they run Karaoke videos. Service - It's seat your self, grab a plate, pay when you're done. That wasn't obvious to me, but they were all nice. Authenticity factor? - I'm not from the Philippines, so I couldn't tell you. There might be some underground spots that keep it really real. But for the first 30 minutes I was there, I was the only non-Asian. Some African dudes did come through and represented. (one dude was in his full regalia actually) Now I had a hankering for some Lechon, but I don't recall there being any. There were a ton of dishes there that I wasn't familiar with. A bit of Adobo, some Kare Kare, and then they went through all of the Filipino Classics. I rocked some of the Dinuguan (Stew made with Pig's Blood and Innards), kaldereta, some Pancit Bichon?, and a couple of other joints. I should have taken more pictures of the food and the descriptions, but I didn't want to be that guy. Don't even think about doing any real work after a heavy meal like this one. But da peace day resistaunce? (pronounce it phonetically, or like Lil Kim would say it) Dessert. Now it's a well known fact that Pinoy's know how to party. Some of the best dj's, best b-boys, and most boisterous B-ball fans known to man. But i'd been sleeping on the desserts. The Filipino sticky rice game is unfadeable. One joint was your standard sticky rice, the next jawn (Biko I believe) looked to be carmelized with some brown sugar perhaps? And the ultra combo? Sticky Rice, Corn, and Coconut. I can't even begin to describe how something so off the wall for a Western Palate is so good. As I roll up to pay, young lady @ the register was super nice. I mention that I really wanted to try Sisig but didn't see any, cause that's the one dish I hear the most about. She grabbed a to-go cup for me, and found some Sisig and hooked me up. Their version involved pork, something sour, some green onions, some peppers...it was like a better version of the Jamaican Classic Codfish. Definite Fan.

Yelp
Because I never really learned how to cook good Filipino food, I don't often have it unless I'm visiting my parents. That being said, finding a good Filipino restaurant is a treat for me because it gives me a taste of home. I came here early on Sunday and all the food was fresh. They had my favorites: kaldereta, sinigang, palabok, chicken adobo...you name it! I was pleased with their variety and wide selection. On my first walk through the buffet line, I didn't have enough space on my plate to get everything I wanted! That's how you know a buffet has a lot to offer. The food was good but I was a little bit disappointed by the cassava cake (it's my favorite Filipino dessert so maybe I'm a little more critical of it). It was a bit hard and didn't taste as fresh to me. The other desserts offered were great though. If I'm ever craving a taste of home, I will come back here again.
