Best Filipino Restaurants in Austin | Eater Austin

"Dining out is great, but Filipino Food Market invites you to bring the flavors home. Located in South Austin, just off of Slaughter Lane, this fantastic grocer features hard-to-find goods and prepared meals in case you haven’t cooked the lechon long enough. Order a pillowy pork asado siopao (steamed buns) while reviewing your grocery list and selecting the best spam to make a traditional Filipino breakfast with rice and eggs. Then, take your snacks to go or grab a chair at one of the few tables inside the market to dine on-site." - Clara Wang

Google
Really great to have this mart and feel home away from home. I just moved to Austin and noticed there aren’t as many Filipino stores as one would find in California. But it seems kuya has got it all here at the store! I was able to pick up a number of things for my ube pie: grated ube, ube extract also got some frozen lumpia, corned beef, spam, and a couple other staples I wouldn’t be able to find at h-mart or 99 ranch. If you’re curious about what they’re holding but don’t wanna make a drive yet just give em a call and ask! I’ll definitely be back to put in a catering order sometime and to get other home staples. It’s great to have a reliable spot here and I’m hoping the Filipino / Fil-Am community here in Austin can support!

Google
Visited for the first time today and was surprised by their selection of Filipino delicacies from snacks to sauces, ingredients, frozen selections, and in store food… everything was great! I was able to purchase banana ketchup, ube extract, Filipino spaghetti sauce and also try their pancit, lumpia, and rice combo. Soooo yummy. A bit far from where I live but it was definitely worth the drive to get a taste of home here in Austin. Thank you for keeping this store alive so that us Filipinos and those who are interested in Filipino cuisine have a place to go. 🇵🇭

Google
I felt really welcome & found exactly what I was looking for (Chinese Sausage) and ended up taking home a lunch platter. The lumpia rice & Adobo was very good!

Google
First time visit. Not fluent asian. But they were very welcoming and helped us understand the use of products while getting fresh lumpia. It was a fun trip to the islands without leaving the States! And great location.

Google
We stopped in the other day for some specific ingredients and stayed for the amazing food. This place is the best bang for your buck, especially a post workout meal. The owner was incredibly friendly. I cannot recommend enough.

Google
Hoyyyysssst! Check out this place! This place was fun and funny to me—like, I went in and had some Filipino food. Like, I think I look Filipino. but maybe it’s the way i asked for something it that the person there explained what the food was as if I didn’t grow up eating it. Kinda funny as I was buying some other random Filipino food that only someone who is Filipino would, if that makes sense. Anyways, as a southern Californian where Filipinos are consequentially Filipino food everywhere, I have some critiques of this place but mostly cause my aunties didn’t make the food while whispering to me that I’m getting fat. That, and it’s not the best because everyone has preferences. But for what this place is and what they offer—definitely 5 stars and recommend others check it out.

Google
Small cozy marketplace where you might find some Filipino food including some desserts too. Not located in a very good neighborhood, plenty of parking available right outside. Food prices are very steep, and while the food quality is not authentic. Okay for a once in a while visit, if you wanna taste some food snacks local to Philippines.

Google
What a gem for South Austin. Marlin, the owner, recommended several items for me to try and they were all amazing! They also have food on site that is delicious. Super friendly staff and great selection of items you can’t find at standard stores. Definitely worth a trip in to find some unique flavors! Thanks!

Brad L.

Yelp
This place has good stuff and excellent food. I have ordered here several times as well as catering for my two year olds birthday party. Great place and great customer service.

Keme C.

Yelp
This is a great shop for picking up Filipino ingredients. They have all of my favorite snacks as well as a robust hot menu of classic dishes. The service is always friendly. Don't forget to pick up some frozen bao for a quick snack later.

Paige J.

Yelp
Marlon was such a nice person, he treated us to an amazing Filipino meal and was so friendly. So happy to have found a Filipino spot in Austin.

Yelp
Great product line. They carry things you won't find in the mega stores. Filipino specific products and freshly made dishes. Give them a try!
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
Stopped by for some Lechon Kawali, chicken adobo, pancit, lumpia, and some flan for dessert! The food and service was equally amazing. Absolutely recommend!

Yelp
If you're in the area and love Filipino snacks you've found your place! Such a great variety of accoutrements as well as traditional must haves. We stopped for the baked desserts and grabbed some cheese rolls and ube buns, along with some ube spread because WHY NOT. Come by and try some of their many sweet treat options.

Jon J.

Yelp
They don't have price tags on any of the items and over charges at the register. Kuya, don't over charge your fellow Filipinos... my auntie went to your store and EVERYTHING was over priced. Why don't you have set price tags? You just choose the price at the register based on what you see?

Evan P.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I love this place!!! Best Filipino food in Austin. The prepared food is very authentic, we love the chicken adobo of course but highly recommend trying it all. The grocery selection is also amazing, make sure to check out the options in the freezers near the back!

Kerry P.

Yelp
This place is so amazing. Such a homey feeling the staff is super nice always very welcoming. The food is amazing. It's always fresh. They make it small batches, so nothing goes to waste and then I'll serve food would definitely recommend this place.

Cam C.

Yelp
Great food and a friendly staff, highly recommend giving it a try. I have a big appetite and the serving was enough for two meals

Sarina M.

Yelp
This place has a wide selection of goods, great prepped food and welcoming owners! It's a cozy space but has every essential you need. The owner is so funny and helpful! Always a good time visiting here!

Yelp
We weren't familiar with the area, but we were hungry and had pulled into this parking lot to search the net for something to eat and found ourselves staring at the door of the Filipino Asian Mart. Great choice! Since we were in the car and had a way to go before we got home, we sampled a few things and saved the rest for later at home (everything reheated well, in case you were wondering) We ordered several items, all were delicious. Portions weren't large, however, considering the price. The lechon and lumpia came in small dessert-sized containers by typical restaurant standards, the pancit was in a pint-sized container, and the larger carry out container contained 2 chicken legs, a scoop of something else tasty, and 2 scoops of rice. The lechon skin was super crispy and perfect but most of the pieces had a huge fat layer (the tastiest part after the skin) that could have used more time to render. I popped them in the oven to reheat at home and render them a touch more so they wouldn't have such a gelatinous mouthfeel. The pancit wasn't anything special, it was meatless, had barely any vegetables, and tasted too heavily of soy sauce. The shop is tiny with a lot of random things available for purchase (handbags, anyone?) and two tables available for dining in. Service was prompt and pleasant. If we were in the area again, we'd stop by and grab some lumpia for sure! 5/5 lumpia 4/5 lechon Chicken adobo plate 3.5/5 Value 2/5 Overall I'd give it 3.5

Yelp
Clean, small store with delicious food. Love that the menu changes every now and then - keeps the variety of food fresh . Had the empanadas, lumpia shanghai, and the chicken adobo. Authentic Filipino food with a very kind and friendly store owner.

Yelp
Wonderful food and the owners are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended! I'm he lechon, pancit, and egg rolls are great!

Yelp
Small but full of goodies. Very nice people also. I came from liberty hill and it was worth it.

Carolyn S.

Yelp
The service is amazing and the food hits the spot!! Great hospitality and good options will continue to come here
google avatar

Yelp
I'm glad this small market is in Austin! They carry a lot of Filipino/Asian staples, including great chili crisp, Kewpie mayonnaise and fun snacks. The owner/shopkeepers are friendly, and it was my first time trying halo-halo! It is really good from here--so colorful with a variety of textures and flavor. I plan to make it a more regular treat!
google avatar

Katrina C.

Yelp
Patis, they carry so much patis. And lots of snacks that my boyfriend loves. Haven't tried the food yet but will have to go back for that.

Ricky P.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. From what's in stock to the food and service. It does not disappoint! The owner is also very friendly and willing to cook you any filipino dish as long as you order ahead of time! Did I mention they also offer catering!? I had some lumpia, odobo and some ube dessert...if it wasn't for getting back to work I would have gone right back and gotten some more! Definitely coming back for some more snacks and food.

Cesar B.

Yelp
I just finished a superb meal at this local hidden gem! I had the opportunity to try their adobo, noodles, and rice. Amazing flavors and the chicken was so juicy it peeled right off the bone. I also had their lechon, which was phenomenal. Nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Very different from Cuban lechon and I am so happy I got to try it. I left with a couple of snacks and cooking mixes I am excited to try, and I look forward to visiting again. 11/10! P.S Very kind and helpful staff.

Charles Z.

Yelp
Great food! I grew up near a large Filipino community, and this restaurant served dishes that were as good as what I've had growing up. Best part, the owner Marlin is an awesome person and is super friendly. I'll be back again.

Yelp
This is thee ONLY filipino store I go to. They don't price gouge you and it's so authentic it feels like I'm walking into my grandma's kitchen. The owner is kind & helpful & they really take the time to talk to you or help you out. They also offer fresh dishes like lumpia!! Please support your local & small businesses

Matthew R.

Yelp
I had ordered a plate of lumpia and chicken adobo, and the food was so good! So fresh, and the customer service was great! I will definitely go back when I get a chance!
google avatar

Joshua W.

Yelp
I love this market. After being able to travel in the pacific a little bit, every time I come in here it feels like a vacation. The food is legit and you can get the real ingredients to make the dishes you love. And so many good treats.

Denise C.

Yelp
Great place! My husband and my son had the most amazing experience here yesterday. The food was awesome.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
10/10 great lumpia and halo halo. Excellent customer service. My coworker and I were dying to eat lumpia so I called a friend and they recommended this place. We ordered for 6 people and the owners recommended that we call ahead next time so they could have it fresh and ready when we arrive; we'll definitely do that next time. I loved the snacks and there is a good variety of asian store items like calamasi lime sauce and lop chang sausage that you can't often find in stores here. I felt very welcomed.

Kirsten C.

Yelp
the store had some very delicious food and napaka friendly si Kuya Marlon. I would definitely go back again sometime.

Bri L.

Yelp
SO GOOD!! Thank you Marlin, everything was delicious! Will definitely be back! If you're looking for authentic filipino food, definitely come here! Excellent food, good and friendly customer service. Can't wait to try the BBQ on a stick next time (and I'll bring some chicken adobo too )

A G.

Yelp
Absolutely WONDERFUL food and friendly service. The lumpia was so good and the chicken adobo was cooked to perfection. This is a great place to enjoy fantastic food !
google avatar

Alice Z.

Yelp
I love that this little neighborhood store exists! My husband is Filipino, and I can pretty much satisfy all his cravings with food and groceries from this store. Also shout out to the super kind and funny owner/manager, Marvin!
google avatar

Shelby C.

Yelp
Holly Molly!!!!!! This is the best place I have been to in a long time!!! Yummy and such great service
google avatar

Cat B.

Yelp
Food was definitely subpar, wish I could rate it differently but what we had- pancit, chicken adobo, sinigang and dinuguan were so-so. The sinigang was so watery, it tasted like they just added hot water to it. Hardly any meat in it. I wanted to support small businesses but it's hard to fork over my hard-earned money for food I couldn't eat.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Wasted $11 on expired, stale food. Merchant was short and just said buy everything when asked for suggestions. Horrible experience, never return, don't go. Drive north for the real markets. No expiration dates printed on the package. Is that even legal

Jessica T T.

Yelp
I am so glad I stumbled across this place. I've been craving my mom's cooking and this feels and tastes just like home. The food is amazing. My favorite is the lumpia!!
google avatar

Steven X.

Yelp
I'm so excited I found this place! Tiny hidden gem in south Austin. You don't get many Asian options this far south!! Four things I loved: the service (such friendly people), the mart itself (super cute though pretty sparse), the chicken adobo (the sauce is amazing) and the lechon (some of the best I've had. The skin is ridiculously crispy. It's a very heavy and oily dish though) Some things I thought were okay and not worth: lumpia, halo halo. Both were just okay and over priced. If I hadn't gotten either one, this prob would've been a 5 star experience. I'm looking forward to returning and trying their other dishes. Forewarned that there are just two tiny tables inside, both with two chairs each

Samuel G.

Yelp
Wonderful hidden nugget of authenticity. I stumbled across this gem serendipitously while looking for an asian restaurant and I must say I was delighted to discover there was an Filipino spot I didn't know about. I walk in and was like this is just like being home think sari-sari store meets turo-turo. If you're Filipino drop in and feel like you're home. If you're not treat yourself to a cultural experience.
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
I had been looking for a Filipino restaurant after Be More Pacific closed. Witty pun name aside, I really enjoyed my meal! I had the chicken adobo with rice and noodles--I think it was pancit and halo-halo. I'm an amateur when it comes to Filipino cuisine (as referenced by whom I'm assuming is the owner's good natured joke "How do you know about halo-halo? You're not Filipina."), but I will happily eat here again whenever I'm on the south side of town.

Marianne Q.

Yelp
First off, I appreciate the COVID measures being taken by the store. Was just at this store and I was super impressed at how much they've changed and improved over the years! Marlon was a gracious store owner who greeted us warmly and informed us where things are in the store. The shelves are well-stocked, organized and the store was super clean. We found what we came in for and then some more that we couldn't even find anywhere in California during our recent visit and in the area. Checkout was fast and easy. We will definitely be back.

A M.

Yelp
Great, delicious Filipino food. Always friendly! Great service as well. My go-to for Filipino food ingredients and when I want some delicious sinigang
google avatar

India S.

Yelp
Wow! This was my first time trying Filipino food and I am FLOORED! I got the chicken adobo, and lumpia. It was so good! So authentic and delicious. I highly recommend trying this spot!
google avatar

Dakota T.

Yelp
Delicious food with beyond generous portions! The Halo Halo was also sweet and refreshing. The owner was really kind as well! Please try this place!
google avatar

Brenda P.

Yelp
Their food is awesome!! I got the pancit, chicken adobo, and the sinigang soup. It was definitely the best filipino food I've had and very well priced. A hidden gem in south Austin.

Samuel G.

Yelp
Really appreciate the food here. Chicken adobo is great! Vibes are always good. Definitely stop by and try it out. Snacks/groceries also.

Cloey W.

Yelp
The workers here are always super nice and helpful, and the food is delicious!!! Also lots of groceries for philippino cuisin
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
If you're looking for true authentic Filipino food, this is your place! Amazing Filipino food! Brought my parents here and they have incredibly high standards. Stamp of approval with high reviews! Check it out! The owner, Marlon, is very very nice!
google avatar

Omar H.

Yelp
Found this place when I googled Filipino food in the Austin area and it did not disappoint! I got some pancit, lumpia, and pork BBQ on a stick and they were all delicious! Marlon was so nice. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new or if you're ever craving Filipino food!

Tyler T.

Yelp
We've been wanting to try this spot, and we're so glad we did! Their food is incredible. Excellent Pancit and Adobo and Ube Puto. Also, there are quite a few grocery items to take home as well. The owner is so kind and friendly too. This is a must try.
google avatar

Melanie C.

Yelp
Such a wonderful find in the Austin area! Filipino stores and food are difficult to find in Austin but this little store has everything you need. My mom and I tried the Halo Halo and Puto and they are AMAZING! I'm so happy to have found this shop!

Alycia N.

Yelp
Big portion of food! Love the chicken adobo and pancit. Definitely recommend. Now I found my spot for Filipino food
google avatar

Jobie A.

Yelp
Our go-to place when I run out of magic sarap, Mr. Chips, Libby's peanut butter, frozen pepper leaves (for my tinola), chocolate mallows, C2 Apple drink and other hard to find Filipino stuff not available in MT. We also trust them with forwarding our balikbayan boxes (Forex). We always order food as well when we go, love their pansit and dinuguan (which I don't know how to cook) and their lechon kawali. The owner is very hands - on and friendly. We will always be one of their loyal customers.
