Kona’s Street Market Opens in SoMa With Filipino Dinners and ‘Globally Inspired’ Cocktails | Eater SF

"I note that Francis Ang’s Filipino pop-up, Pinoy Heritage, will be providing the food program at Kona’s Street Market, and that Diedrich and Chun — like other booze-focused spots during the pandemic — partnered with chefs to prepare “bona fide meals” that could be sold alongside drink orders to comply with reopening rules." - Eve Batey

Google
Filipino adobo, chicken or pork, is one of my favorite foods to cook and order out, so I was excited to see a Filipino place nearby after moving to Bellevue. However I found the chicken adobo here to be particularly bland. I feel it lacked seasoning, particularly the garlic, vinegar and peppercorns which gives adobo much of its distinct flavor. I also felt the chicken could've been marinaded longer, or the sauce be reduced further to concentrate the flavor. Adobo aside, the interior of the restaurant was nice and clean, prices reasonable for the quantity, and the people working the counter were nice. The pancit and lumpia were high quality, as were the coffee drinks offered. The service was also fast. I would order here again, probably just not the adobo unless the recipe changes.

Google
Definitely worth branching out of you've never tried Filipino food before! Seriously amazing! The crab rangoons were probably the best I've ever eaten, and I've had my fair share. The flavors are savory and not overpowering. Amazing blend of value and portions. I would absolutely recommend this for date night or just a quick lunch! Food came out fast and was HOT. Everything was extremely fresh. The rice noodles in the Pancit were soft and delicious and the Lumpia was so crispy and flavorful. 10 out of 10. On this visit they were out of the Lumpia cheesecake but that's ok, I will be back for that later!!

Google
Their menu was a little limited, but I got their pork lumpia (two dozen for $20 over the weekend). They were smaller than I expected, but tasted good, especially when dipped in the sweet chili sauce. I likely won't be going out of my way to come back here unless they expand their menu a bit. Wishing them good luck from a fellow Southeast Asian in Nebraska. 🌽

We were very excited to hear about a new Filipino restaurant in the area. Growing up in a military family and from the Philippines, it's nice to get traditional Filipino food when you're not up to cooking. We happened to be in the area and decided to give it a try. This was our first experience at Filipino Fusion. It has the feel of a street shop, with a few tables and the bar set up. It's clean and welcoming though and the gentleman at the counter was very friendly and answered any questions we had. I was hoping for a bigger selection of Filipino food, but was told that they are still creating the full menu and deciding what will be made available. One of the biggest things I was excited about was the Lumpia. Growing up, we always had Lumpia ready to go whenever we wanted, but now don't always have time to make it. We ordered, Lumpia, Pancit and Adobo. The price is reasonable, since I know the amount of time and effort it takes to make all the above. The lumpia was crispy and well wrapped. Some of them were light on the filling, but still tasty, but most of them had a good portion of filling, as you can see in my attached picture. The order included dipping sauce which was nice. I prefer to use spicy banana ketchup, which is available, but I have some at home so didn't request any. The Pancit had good flavors. The portion was definitely a good size and easily feeds 2-3 people. Well cooked and the noodles weren't completely shredded, which tends to happen with these noodles when over-handled. We do wish there were more vegetables in the Pancit like I'm used to. Ours seemed to have mostly carrots and chicken. There are more veggies in the dish, but just not as pronounced. We're just used to have other greens and chunkier chicken pieces. But again, overall the Pancit had good flavors. The Chicken Adobo was also a decent portion. It was in a quart size container, we had our food to-go, with rice at the bottom and chicken on top. The flavor was good, but the chicken was a little dried out. I added some Kimchi when I got home and it tasted great together. I'm sure I'll order this again, as it was flavored well and chicken can be hard to get right all the time. Overall we like the food and will definitely be back again. We're looking forward to seeing what other dishes they add to the menu.

Google
Food was fabulous 👌 . Got the halo halo, birra rice bowl and pork lumpia. Lumpia was hot and crisp with a lot of flavor. Halo halo was huge. It was sweet and creamy could not stop eating it was thought I was full. The rice bowl was delicious. The meat was to tender. The lady that took our order so was sweet she helped us decide what to get. Will definitely be returning.

Google
Absolute great good and service. The good is so delicious and full of such flavors. Lumpia rolls HIT the spot. Highly recommended visiting here! Will definitely be coming back and sharing with my friends!

Google
I was here in Omaha for Dr appointment and searching for Pinoy food near me. 30 mins drive and they’re gonna close at 6pm so I called for a takeout order but the owners are nice i ask if we can still eat inside and they let us. The combo meal pancit-egg roll is good, the turon with ube also is delicious . Would definitely recommend to everyone and promise you won’t regret any $ that you’re going to spend.

Google
Very tasty food, fast service, excellent lumpia and kimchi fries. Seating is a little sparse but it is more of a take out place. It shares space with a coffee shop.

Yelp
Swung over to Bellevue for some lumpia, pancit, crab rangoons and General Tso's Chicken (one of today's specials!). Also snagged their Blueberry Boba Fruit Milk Drink. Boba ballz were BIG and chewy but with a great blueberry flavor. Cause ya know, General has some kick so you can imagine the milk was refreshing yet.. helpful! Ordered their Pancit Lumpia Combo, which includes two lumpia. I would've preferred a little more filling as it felt they were mostly spring roll wrappers (which honestly, I don't mind but would've liked to taste their pork!). Plenty of dark meat in the pancit! Their Crab Rangoons were very airy and surprisingly worked really well with the other light textures; pancit noodle, wrapper etc. Excellent filling ratio, not overly filled, not under; just right. Their dipping sauce has a kick but it's a nice heat! Decent amount of them too to share between folks. Didn't see too much of the bar aspect advertised, but there's a coffee station with syrups and such. Rooms for taps, too!

Yelp
Not great but also the best option in bellevue for Filipino food. I wish the Sisig came out on a hot plate/ sizzling plate. Service is fast and the place is cute but more of a quick grab and go or casual date spot

Yelp
Very disappointed. I was stationed on the west coast 3 times and been to Subic numerous time. hell, even our cooks onboard ship made awesome Chicken Adobo. But this Chicken Adobowas bland and had no gravy for the rice. The lumpia was mediocre, as was the Pancit. Definitely will not return

Yelp
I really really wanted to love this place, but it just wasn't quite there. I would say my biggest disappointment was that my portion of food really seem to be like a half portion. I ordered the pancit with lunpias. My meal was brought out in what you would call a half of takeout container. Typically if you order food togo at restaurants, you get a nice square Styrofoam takeout container well my food came in a container about half that size so I consider it an expensive meal for the portion that you receive. Service was OK but nothing to rave about. I will give this restaurant one more try at some point because I absolutely love Filipino food but it's quite a drive for me so I'm not sure when I'll get back. Portions need to be bigger.

Yelp
This is legit Filipino food! All the items we ordered were flavorful. The pancit was outstanding, the chicken adobo was wondefurl, and the sisig was just amazing. Try the ube turon if they have them...they have menu specials so some of the items may not all be available. The place is split with a cafe/coffee shop and they have bar up front with some craft beers on tap. The service is good, but they've just recently opened so be patient and be prepared to wait if they get a crowd. Will definitely be back here again!

Yelp
This is really a 3+ review. A new restaurant co-located with a coffee shop. Located in the Capehart Square not far outside the main gate of Offutt Air Force Base. A very small location with only 7 tables serving both the coffee shop and the restaurant. No table service. Order at the counter. We went for dinner. Very friendly but severely understaffed. Gentleman not only taking orders, but also helping make lumpia's and cook. Already out of some items even though it was before 6pm. A pretty limited menu. Lumpia, Crab Rangoon, Kung Pao and Vegetable Dumplings, Chicken Adobo and Chicken Pancit as well as wings and fries. We tried the Crab Rangoons and Kung Pao Dumplings as appetizers. Dumplings delicious. Rangoons were crispy and light but the filling was just okay for us. We all got Chicken Pancit. It was decent, but not the best noodles we have had before. Owner/Chef told us at the onset that it would take 30 minutes to make a new batch of pancit. It pretty much did, but we had our dumplings and crab Rangoons to munch on to tide us over. Everything is served in plastic or styrofoam along with plastic ware. Worthwhile to visit, but be prepared to wait. This is not the place for a quick bite.

Yelp
Seen an advertisement on fb about this restaurant and I've been wanting to give it a try for a few weeks now, they recently had a really good deal for the lumpia. Unfortunately, when I got there, the deal was no longer available due to unforeseen circumstances. So instead, I decided to order the chicken adobo and a order of crab Rangoon. when I walked in, I was not greeted, but the person taking the orders seem to be really flustered and super busy so no big deal, pretty much everyone was in there for the lumpia, so I imagine his frustration when trying to get orders in as there were other people waiting on their orders still. (They had ordered the lumpia prior to whatever the unforeseen circumstances happened.) The restaurant seemed very nice and clean, which is a plus and hopefully the next time I come I'm greeted with a little more hospitality and things will have been running much smoother than they were today. Now onto the food I've had chicken adobo before and this one was pretty decent not the best and a little more "vinegary" than I've had in the past, I do appreciate that they use chicken breast instead of chicken quarters, and give you a really good portion. The crab Rangoon, however, was pretty expensive for the little bit that you get. it was really decent but not the best I've ever had but super fresh and hot and I appreciate that. Considering so many people were waiting for their food (I'm guessing it was the lumpia that was available before I got there.)I got my food pretty fast, like 10 minutes so we love that. I'd give the chicken adobo a 7/10 Crab Rangoon 6/10 I'd give this place a 6.5/10 I hope that when I return things will be running much smoother.

Yelp
It was a good experience the food was amazing. The presentation was unappealing. I dined in and my food was brought to me in an order to go container. When it was brought to my table I told the guy I was dining in. He said well you probably won't eat it all so you have a to go box. The price paid for this quality of food needed to be served on a plate.

Yelp
Just dined at Filipino Fusion, it was awesome. Very good food, great service and very clean restaurant. My wife loved it, kids enjoyed the food. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Filipino food isn't present in Nebraska, but glad there is a place you can get a basic taste. This place is connected to a coffee shop and honestly the coffee shop is better. The staff is super nice and our adobo (chicken in soy sauce and vinegar) came out really quick, but our wings took so long (we think they forgot) and they were only okay. The lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) was good. The servings are good because my husband and I were able to share the adobo and still have some to bring home. Since it's connected to the coffee shop there's plenty of seating. Also the coffee shop has sandwiches, so this may be a good place for a group that might be a little adventurous and want to try Filipino food but have a picky eater or two and want a sandwich instead. Oh and they also serve alcohol, so that was also nice.

Maggie M.

Yelp
Aside from the Filipino lady who was lovely, the other staff was rude. What I gleaned was the owner and his partner were drinking the whole time we were there. The male complained out loud in front of customers about a bad review and was laughing at how he roasted them publicly and didn't care what they thought. He was annoyed when we asked for more sauce for the lumpia. While the lumpia were delicious, the sauce was enough for 2, max. We had an order of 5 to split and were apparently expected to share 1T of sauce, which we agree was cheap and tacky. While there, we saw the lumpia being prepared by a young, long-haired girl without a hair net. She did have gloves on, but simply smeared some sauce from a jar on the wrapper, then pulled some pre-made pork mixture from a bag before sealing them up. Not quite what one envisions when expecting homemade. The chicken adobo had a generous portion but was so very bland. The rice was dry and completely unacceptable. What drew us tgwre were the enticing pix online. Clearly, they were not of their own food. Not even close. Everything was served in to go containers, which was no big deal, but made us feel like, "Here's your food, now leave." There was no checking back in on us, no niceties. Very disappointing. We will Not be back.

Yelp
A small place that is part coffee bar, and part restaurant, not the biggest place but we had a group of 15 and they made it work for us. I really enjoy their lumpia and Adobo. Give it a try!

Simeon T.

Yelp
So glad to have Filipino food in the area. The owners are really nice and service is great. We will be back on a regular basis!

Yelp
I ate there for the first time today. The service was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed talking with the cashier. The food was tasty and filling. I would recommend trying them out.

Yelp
The service was fast and the food was really good. I ordered the ube turon and chicken adobo, which was delicious. I definitely recommend this place for some good food

Yelp
Had the chicken pancit and lumpia very good had it delivered and it was here within a half hour definitely will be back

Claudia M.

Yelp
I got the 12 pc lumpia and ube + banana turon, I wish I could've tried more things but I was too full to order more. I wish I took pictures but I was starving so I pretty much inhaled everything as soon as it got to me. The ambience is really nice, everyone is friendly and the food is fantastic, this is a restaurant/coffee shop which is a really unique combination and it's perfect more students. I will be coming back here! No matter if you have or haven't tried Filipino food before, I can promise you that you will find something you love here as there is so many menu options

Yelp
I ordered through Door Dash so I can't speak on service or ambiance. I ordered the chicken pancit with an egg roll combo with a red velvet cheesecake cold foam latte to drink. The egg rolls were really good as was the chili sauce that went with it. But the photo on door dash showed 3 egg rolls and I got two. Not a huge deal. The chicken pancit tasted mostly like carrots. There was hardly any chicken and other veggies. Mainly carrots. Not great. And for $15 it wasn't worth it for rice noodles and a bunch of carrots. The drink was good but could have been sweeter for it being red velvet. I'll probably pass on this place next time.

D P.

Yelp
Interesting fused space with coffee, bar, retail and restaurant. Glad the bell was available for service, although it didn't take long for the owner running both businesses front of house to attend to me. Very thankful that I stopped and loved the combo option...in as it met the need to try both of what I wanted. Food was great and fast.

Marjurey L.

Yelp
My husband and I went to this restaurant. The food is awesome and good as filipino we crave our very own food. This place is awesome and had Authentic filipino food. The service is pretty awesome, the fiancé of the owner is Filipina she is the one serve and entertain us. They have the best place. Sisig and eggroll is the best you better try and visit the place. They have a variety of filipino food that you must try.

Tara G.

Yelp
no stars! worst customer service ever! I ordered for food to be catered to work for a birthday luncheon. Got confirmation text stating it would be delivered between 11:30-11:40 2 days in Advance. On the day of the birthday luncheon at 11:46 I get a text from them they cancelled my order because THEY could not fill it??? WTF...no notice but day of. Uber driver was not notidied and texted me they were closed for the holiday. I like to support local but this is the WORST customer experience ever!!!

Yelp
After seeing a Facebook ad I decided to give Filipino Fusion a try. I ordered directly from their website for delivery the next day. ($120 order for family Sunday lunch) order arrived and it was 2 parts ($20 worth)of a 7 item order. Tried calling listed number which went immediately to a recording that states voice-mail box has not been set up yet. Had to drive to their restaurant just to wait in a line for 20 minutes to be told they couldn't bump my missing order up any faster and would be another hour or 2. Alternatively, I could be refunded. I chose the refund based upon what I had witnessed while waiting. (Child workers carrying raw food across the dining area from one kitchen to the other uncovered, to be cooked, multiple missing orders and some orders being made multiple times, rude employee/owner, customers waiting everywhere, customers being treated very poorly, etc was basically mass chaos being wrangled by a grouchy man who was sweating profusely) They could not provide a receipt for the refund they supposedly processed, and offered no apology whatsoever. What kind of business doesn't have a working phone, or at the very least the ability to offer a receipt??? In the end, it will only be a waste of time...credit card company will refund, and we will have a better meal elsewhere where our support is welcomed and appreciated.

Byron B.

Yelp
If you're going to offer a special on lumpia make sure you have enough instead of telling your customers you can't take any more orders a few hours after you open.... bad business.

Joan B.

Yelp
Delicious. Very nice flavors. The Chicken Adobo is delicious and the portion is large. It is nice to be able to have local beer with our meal.

Shawn D.

Yelp
Family and I stopped by last night. Fiancé is Filipino so we eat it all the time, but wanted to check Filipino Fusion out. We each had the adobo rice bowl, first off the portion size was huge, was so much that I had it for lunch the next day as well. The chicken was super moist and flavorful and the lumpia were fantastic. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Tim C.

Yelp
Food is average at best. Customer service is nonexistent. Be prepared to wait 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the hostile owner who will throw a tantrum.
