Well, this is good BBQ, and considering it's out in Lee's Summit, it's like 5 stars for around there. Also the beans are very above average, and their hot sauce alone is worth the trip (but I had to mix it with the medium to save my mouth). I only had their Carolina pulled-pork sandwich (with cole slaw on top), and it was pretty good. I had to, though, use a lot of sauce because the meat, while tender, didn't have much flavor of it's own. The cole slaw, sort of a side note to a good pulled-porker when in good order, in this case just sort of sat there, adding a little texture but not much else. Maybe I just like my cole slaw a little on the vinegary side, but this was pretty much just colorful cabbage. Nevertheless, I ate the whole thing (with the aforementioned sauce mix) and was happy. Now on to the beans.
The beans, really a mean in-and-of-themselves, were chuck-full-o-pork bits, and in my estimation, if struck by lightening might spontaneously come alive and start talking. They looked good, and they almost tasted as good as they looked. I like my beans hearty and spicey, and these didn't really have the tang I enjoy. Still, I ate them all, too, and I was happy.
Anyhow, I might be harshly judging some really good BBQ, but it's high standards which give us a good measure of an experience. As far as the ambiance of the place goes, it was a nice little nook-place, clean, inside and outside seating, and good for kids, families, or friends. I'll be back.
