My friends enjoy this place so I kinda feel bad for this review. Our party of six ordered the following and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, I only found ONE item excellent.
Croquettes - decent, crispness wasn't there, but oh so small.
Fried Goat Cheese balls - good God, can these get any smaller? If you're imagining Arancini portion, then close your eyes and imagine again. The caramelized onions were good though.
Stracciatella Crostini - above average, but two small slices for $7.50.
Filet Mignon Bites - super tender and flavorable. The blue cheese complements it nicely, the chips get soggy fast.
Insalata Romana - ample portion, fresh, not wow, but good.
3 Salami Platter - the hot one was excellent, but there were bits left of the other two as nobody was interested.
Gnocchi - good texture, sauce was too Bolognese simple, average taste.
Riso Rosso - it looked good, but person didn't finish it.
Crimini (?) Mushroom Ravioli - highly touted by our server, this was the loser of the evening.
Penne with Prawns - person who ordered ate it, but then again, I didn't hear one accolade.
Lamb Chops - this received the most oohs and aahs, apparently the winner of the night. Unfortunately, I don't like lamb, but I trust the consensus.
Dessert/Zabaglioni - looked awesome as it cascaded over the bowl, but taste wasn't impressive.
Dessert/cobbler - meh
Ambiance - charming and homey, our table for six was small.
Service - prompt and friendly, owner (or chef) checked on us which is always nice.
...maybe I'll return because I'm tempted to try the steak entree.
Overall a miss in a town that does Italian quite well.
