Fin and Lime Brings Build-Your-Own Ceviche to Mission Valley - Eater San Diego

"Applying a fast-casual, assembly-line model to Mexican seafood, Fin + Lime has arrived in Mission Valley. Developed by the owners of Grater Grilled Cheese and Grater Greens, the counter-service restaurant features stations where diners can customize a variety of mostly Mexican seafood dishes. At the cold counter, the build-your-own ceviche experience starts with a tostada or chips and your choice of seafood, including octopus, shrimp, and fish, or an alternative like hearts of palm. Add in vegetables like jicama, cucumber, onion, or sweet potato and dress the mix with sauces that range from mango habanero to green or red aguachile-style seasonings. Other toppings include corn, chickpeas, or edamame. Open daily from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Fin + Lime also features a hot bar where guests can customize burritos, bowls, and tacos with a selection of seafood preparations like shrimp gobernador with sauteed poblanos, onions, and tomatoes, fish in a red chile sauce, or simply grilled fish or shrimp. Additional sauces include cilantro-lime, chipotle, and sriracha ketchup. The menu also includes fish and chips, fried calamari, Mexican shrimp soup, and churro fries." - Candice Woo

At Fin + Lime, that just opened in Mission Valley, you can enjoy fish and seafood cold as a ceviche, or hot in a bowl, burrito or taco. For the ceviche, I love their selection of proteins, unique veggies, and their incredible green aguachile sauce (it has so much flavor and the perfect amount of heat). And I would go back for the fish and chips that is served with super tasty chipotle and cilantro lime sauce – and is paired so well with their Mexican Esquites. And if you have room (and a sweet tooth) the fresh fruit with chamoy is the perfect end to a delicious meal.

Parking: plenty all around in shopping plaza Ambience: Simple indoor outdoor fast dining Service: we got there 40 mins before they close which is at 7pm and completely felt rushed to order so they can start closing. Our order was wrong but too late to notify them since we did take out and found out the error at home. Food: the fish taco were really small, as in I can take one bite to finish it.. Of the 3 the cilantro lime was my favorite. The error were regarding my hot station fried bowl where I asked for no tomatoes and double rice. Instead I got tomatoes and rice and beans. Basically got my order as default. Food was definitely worth craving. Overall: Decent service, a bit pricey which is probably due to location. They do support military discount which is why I like to support them back. This place is still fairly new so I would like to try them again to see if they’ve improved.

Since this place only opened up a few months ago, hopefully they are still fine tuning the menu. The ceviche options are nice as you can personalize it but the flavors just weren’t there as I had hoped. And when we opened it, it didn’t look appetizing. Luckily, it tasted better than it looked but that isn’t saying much. The gobernator taco I enjoyed. I would give this place another shot for a taco deal and to try some other options or a burrito. It is worth trying if you’re in the area but don’t take a trip out of your way. The best part is everything is personalized and you have options. So, picky eaters may actually really enjoy this place.

Happy to find this new ceviche place in Mission Valley. The setup is a bit like a Latin American take on a poke bowl. Pick proteins - mostly seafood, plus a vegetarian option - veggies, toppings, sauces, etc. I had tuna with serrano, jicama and onion. Was very yummy. Nice, fresh ingredients. Will definitely be back.

If you like ceviche, this is the place for you. I don't know if I like ceviche enough to eat a whole bowl for a meal, but it was good. I got a shrimp bowl with cucumber, tomatoes, mango, onion, cilantro, and serrano peppers. Giving it 4/5 stars because I think it's a few bucks overpriced.

This place is newly opened in Mission Center. The quality of ingredients was great and the service was good. I ordered a ceviche bowl from the 'COLD' menu with Tuna and Octopus, and was able to choose the fruit/vegetables/sauce for the topping. I went with the tortilla over the bag of chips. Overall the flavor was great but the size was on the smaller side for the price of the bowl; could have used another scoop of all the toppings ideally. Have yet to try the 'HOT' menu but looked good.

Great find but it's twice as expensive as my regular ceviche spot😬 so I'll only be going every now and then. $15 min for a ceviche bowl, that's without avocado 🙄, my bf got a burrito and while it was yummy it was very light on proteins for the price. Great mixes of flavors for the ceviche and fresh ingredients. Kiko's seafood truck is literally down the street, fresh and delicious with great prices.
