La Bobadilla, near Loja, Andalucia, Spain - Explore & Book

"A 3km private drive sweeps you up through olive groves to this gorgeous collection of whitewashed buildings. It has the feel of an Alhambra-in-white, set on the crest of a small hill with the sun-washed Sierra de Loja all around you encircling a magical, hidden kingdom. Walk up to the main house and a serene courtyard welcomes you; water runs in the fountain and the scent of rosemary and jasmine fills the air. This beguiling jumble of volumes feels centuries old yet is a mere babe in arms: 25 years ago there was only a lowly farmhouse here. Now the style is smart, rural and timeless, with soaring brick arches in a marble hall, terracotta rooftops tumbling down hill, a bell tower in the courtyard - there's even a private chapel. Wonderful rooms have balconies or terraces, a huge shimmering pool lazes in a bowl of lush lawn, 350 hectares of private estate wrap around you. Tracks and trails lead out into it, so choose your mode of transport - foot, horse, bicycle - and set out to discover your own Xanadu. Highs Luxury, peace and natural beauty all entwined, 3km up a private drive. The finest hotel in Andalucia? When we last visited we loved that there was so much to do: on-site activities, local excursions, a pampering spa and acres of grounds, including the amazing pool open April-October Families are very welcome - kids' club, pool, menus, and farm animals Big luxurious rooms all have private balconies or terraces Three good restaurants, all with excellent, friendly service Lows Larger and more corporate than our usual hotels; easy to get disoriented amid the rambling floor plan You'll need a hire-car to get here, but you probably won't use it that much If you want to eat out, it's a bit of a hike to get anywhere Popular for weddings - if you're not part of the party, you may feel left out" - Tom Bell

Finca La Bobadilla (Malaga, Costa del Sol) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the heart of Andalusia, surrounded by the green hills of the Sierra de Loja, Finca La Bobadilla sprawls over a thousand-acre estate in the manner of a Moorish village, all whitewashed buildings, winding paths and courtyard after courtyard connected by arched walkways. This is one of the finest hotels in the Spanish countryside, a luxe escape for travelers from all over Europe and beyond, with faultless service of the old school, and the sort of discreet privacy that goes along with it." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I stayed at Finca La Bobadilla for two nights as part of a recent trip to southern Spain. The resort and the grounds are stunning and the property feels very much like a quiet oasis. Our room was beautiful, and despite being old everything functioned well, water pressure was great, and we had no complaints. The pool area, lobby, and other areas of the resort were beautiful and we loved mountain biking around the expansive property. The spa is also great and we loved that amenities like the sauna and hydro pools were open to all guests. The food at the restaurant Mirador was exceptional. The only reason I'm giving our experience a 4 star instead of a 5 is due to the service in the restaurants, particularly the waiter Miguel Angel and the service overall at the Finca restaurant. Miguel Angel was our waiter for several meals at Mirador and Finca and each time he was unfriendly, unhelpful, and seemed more interested in lengthy entries into his tablet than providing good service. On one day I had a spa appointment during lunch hours at Mirador which meant I would not be able to come for lunch (and this was the only option open during those hours). My husband went to lunch at Mirador and asked if he could order a meal for me and take it away in a box and Miguel responded that they would not accomodate takeaway. We were disappointed with our interactions with him as they stood out amongst the excellent, friendly, helpful service amongst staff. I'll also note that the wine service at Finca was incredibly slow, as it seemed the only person who could provide the wine list/take wine orders was the sommelier and he was busy with other tables. At one point our wine glasses stood empty for 30 minutes (through a whole course, and observed by many of the wait staff) before we were able to order another from the sommelier. This felt like a miss for a Michelin starred restaurant. Overall we would love to go back to Finca La Bobadilla, but would love to see changes in service consistency.

Our second time back at La Finca La Bobadilla — and it reminded us exactly why we fell in love with it the first time. Hidden deep in the Andalusian countryside, surrounded by endless olive groves, it still feels like its own peaceful little village. The pool area remains the highlight — quiet, beautifully landscaped, and perfect for long afternoons under the sun. Dining continues to impress: the Michelin-starred La Finca is exceptional, but El Mirador, the daytime restaurant, is just as enjoyable — fresh local dishes, relaxed service, and panoramic views that make every lunch feel special. This visit also brought a few welcome additions: horse riding on site and the option to hire e-bikes to explore the olive groves — both brilliant ways to see the surrounding hills. After a few busy days in Granada, it was the perfect place to unwind and slow down. Rooms are spacious and full of rustic charm, blending traditional Andalusian style with modern comfort. Every part of the property feels thoughtful, serene, and unhurried — exactly what a countryside retreat should be. A place that keeps getting better — we’ll definitely be back again.

The art of an incredible hotel is one where you feel as if you’ve come home and yet you’ve had the most luxurious pampering of your life! Not easy to achieve and yet they manage it here - everything is classy and caters to your every need even those you didn’t know you had |- best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel - world class offering in a wonderful setting|- friendly spa with luxurious steam, sauna, hydro pool and warm beds |- beautiful setting in a traditional finca style with an onsite chapel / meditation site (not consecrated) |- superb pool area which is so relaxing with enough sunloungers to never worry about having to reserve one and a huge pool! There are flies here but this is common in any inland hotel in the region and I’m only mentioning it to manage expectations and still less than other places I’ve stayed at |- beautiful stunning grounds with a turtle pool (yes really!), a herb garden with seats to relax in, lovely horses you can ride and pet if you don’t want to ride, electric bikes and hiking trails|- lovely bar (I think this is my only thought that this area could perhaps do with a splash of colour but then that may detract from the relaxing nature of the building) a lovely touch was the complimentary cocktails - again you could choose any you wanted and not just an entry level - we particularly enjoyed the LB version of an aperol spritz with blood orange juice and are already planning to make it at home|- fantastic Michelin star dining which deserves more than one star - friendly staff and Alfonso (?) the head wine waiter was excellent and knowledgable - the wine pairings were incredible with the tasting menu and changed, enriched and enhanced the flavours so that this was such a memorable part of our stay - even my husband who really struggles with fine dining experiences due to finding them overlong and stuffy enjoyed this immensely.|We really hope we can one day return - it is expensive to stay here but so worth it if you want to treat yourself you will not be disappointed! Thank you so much from one LB to another for making our stay so special!

This hotel wowed me when we arrived! We had one of the two large family suites which had a jacuzzi and so much space! Upon arrival we got greeted with some lemon water, very nice!! And then we had our luggage taken up to our suite and then we settled into our room. The only thing that you should note when booking that there is a mini bar and then there is gummy bears and marshmallows etc… you could eat these items but it would cost you €12 for a small container of gummy bears, and the same price for 5 marshmallows. Everything else, the restaurants, the room, the people are brilliant and made it a very enjoyable stay. One last thing is that you can rent bikes, electric or normal and it was €20 for a hour per person for electric and €18 for a hour on a normal bike which I personally think is quite overpriced.

This place is just beautiful! We received the warmest of welcomes at check-in and stayed in the most amazing suite — huge, rustic, and full of traditional charm.|The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and the grounds are stunning with a huge pool.||Our kids absolutely loved it here — from horse riding along one of the trails (the instructor was fantastic) to seeing the horses, donkeys, and even turtles! It’s very family-friendly, and we had a fabulous dinner at La Finca.||That said, two things do stick in my mind:| • The BBQ was €70 per adult and €45 per child, but the selection was limited and the food just didn’t taste great — we left feeling a bit disappointed given the price.| • Airport transfer pricing — the hotel quoted €220 for a 50-minute drive via their sole provider taxi service. Considering the hotel is in the middle of nowhere (the driveway alone is 3 km), I think they could make transfers more accessible, affordable, and guest-friendly rather than profiting from the location. We booked our own transport with Malaga Transfers and paid much less.||Overall, a beautiful, relaxing stay in a magical setting — we’d love to return, but would arrange our own transport and skip the BBQ next time.

The Finca la Bobadilla, is a very nice getaway place and retreat. It is situated quietly on its own between endless olive fields. The staff is very friendly, helpful and offered us a free upgrade on the room. The food is amazing, as they have their own 1-star-Michelin restaurant "La Finca" with degustation and a la carte choices.

An absolutely wonderful stay at this traditional finca in the middle of nowhere! |Everything was perfect from the minute we got there, from the massive pools (the photos don’t do the pool area justice) to the incredible room!|We had a bbq on the first night (this would be good if the food was cooked to order as it wasn’t too warm and this could have been easily done) but the food overall was excellent.|The pool staff were very attentive and the whole building was gorgeous. We would probably change the bar area to be a bit more welcoming but overall we really enjoyed our stay….

A beautiful hotel but not 5 *. We had a suite with terrace and the room was dated, dark and the terraces totally uninspiring. Bathroom was very dated. ||Breakfast was very average and you had to pay extra for items such as pancakes, eggs Benedict. They do make this clear.||Food in general was poor. They say they have a Michelin star restaurant - having eaten in many Michelin star restaurants I would query this. Then 2 nights the only option was a paella night (eur 65 pp) and a bbq (eur 70 pp). Both were awful .||Swimming pool area is lovely but unfortunately we had several families there and the noise (from the parents not children!) was far from relaxing. I would not recommend this place for couples wanting a relaxing break.||All in all a disappointing stay…..
