I will admit, the first time I visited Fine Fellows Creamery, the prices scared me away. It is a little pricy, but majority of the businesses in Cape May are, so if you're visiting from out of town, you can't compare it to your local ice cream shop's prices. While they may not make their own ice cream here, the Bassett's Ice Cream that they do serve is delicious. This is a terrific spot to get yourself an ice cream sundae, lots of great flavors and toppings. For me though, there is one specific reason I love this place, and that's the Liege waffles! This is why I visited Fine Fellows twice in one week. Liege waffles are unlike any other waffle you've had. They start out as these baseball size lumps of dough and turn into these oblong crispy, dense, sweet little masterpieces. They've been a favorite of mine since I first tried one at Nina's Waffles in New Hope about 9 years ago. When you top these beauties with Nutella, chocolate, or caramel syrup, whipped cream and a scoop of ice cream, there's no better dessert. I can't recommend them enough. They alone are worth going to Fine Fellows. I recommend trying the Depeche a la Mode, which tops a Liege waffle with praline ice cream, salted caramel syrup, whipped cream, and potato chips. It is the perfect salty/sweet dessert. Then when you get it, you can walk across the street and eat it while you listen to the waves. Can't beat it.
