"San Gabriel— Another long standing restaurant has closed. Fine Garden Vegetarian, which was known for vegetarian dim sum, shuttered after a two decade run. The replacement is Bopomofo Café, which was previewed earlier." - Jim Thurman

I love this place. Always so friendly and the selection is amazing. My favorite are the crispy oyster mushrooms. A must have.

I love this vegetarian restaurant! They use mushrooms for the salt and pepper chicken, general tso chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. The eggplant basil stirfry was delicious as well. Must try!

I will not come to the place anymore! This review is for a female staff who was grumpy all the time. I went there one time 30 minutes before they were closed. She took us in yet rushed us to sit down and order the food in 3 minutes saying the kitchen is going to close. She was so rude to us the whole time. Then few months later, I took my family here again to try vegetarian din sum. Again, the same woman was there and rude to us as if she was not happy with her work. The customer services basically ruined our mood and appetite. I felt so embarrassed taking my parents here. Sorry no other chance anymore. =====updated review above===== This is a place where you can find a vegan/vegetarian dim sum restaurant. Their chicken bean curb roll, Herb & bean curb roll, BBQ port bun and turnip cake are good. They taste just like real dim sum. Just be aware of the wait of food can take up to 30 mins depends on how busy they are. Parking can be hard in that plaza sometimes.

Great vegetarian options imitating meat including some dim sum. Prices are good and food comes relatively quickly. I really want to give five stars but the service is not very good and they are not very enthusiastic and kind of seem annoyed to have you visit. That was a bit weird and has been consistent on several occasions.

I hate giving bad reviews, but a friend also had a bad experience at this place so I feel it's justified. So I walk in here during the mid afternoon. It is not that busy, but I am not greeted or acknowledged at all for at least five minutes. Then when I am greeted, the lady at the counter is not very friendly at all. She rudely tells me I'm looking at the wrong menu which are paper menus that are right by the cash register. She then basically throws me the menu she wanted me to use. Honestly I'm not that put off by this as I am a tall white guy in Chinatown. As long as the food is good, the service doesn't really affect me. I ordered the sweet and sour pork to go which was about seven or eight dollars and left a couple dollars tip. So after waiting inside about 5 minutes, I decided to go to the boba tea place next door. I walk over there, they make the tea, I walk back and the food is still not ready. No worries, i surf on my phone a little while. After another 10 or 15 minutes, I start to become mildly annoyed. Finally the mean counter lady acknowledges me and says my food is coming. So after about 30 minutes I get my to-go order and walk out the door. If all this wasn't bad enough, my meal was terrible. I ordered the sweet and sour pork. The sauce was not very good the veggies were just okay. But some the vegan pork was literally the consistency of tire rubber. Not all, some of the pieces seem cooked okay, but other pieces were literally unedible. It was one of the worst meals I've ever had. So, in conclusion. Terrible service, waited 30 minutes for my food, and the food tasted awful. At least the price was reasonable, but do not waste your money at this place.

Do you like Dim Sum? I do and this place is one of the best I've eaten at. They have a full menu of what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant and then there is their Dim Sum menu. I've had their Shrimp Had Gow to their Chicken Bean Curd and they are all the good. They offer lunch specials that are pleasing to eat and light on the wallet. You can even bring your dog and dine in their patio. Everyone wins.

Fair price and decent quality. I was definitely different than your regular non-vegan/vegetarian dimsum, however, different in a good way. It is definitely worth trying and a very good spot to recommend to my vegan friends! The siu mai had a unique texture and although, did not have that typical meat flavor it was still flavorful and delicious in its own way. I know that some people would still prefer their meat counterpart of course but at this rate it would be more of a personal preference. I love how fresh everything was when they served it.

I was expecting to be blown away by this restaurant because it caters to vegetarians and is filled with all kinds of vegan-friendly goodness. The number of options on the menu was awesome -- especially given that I had come to L.A. mostly to try a lot of dumplings. Unfortunately, the best thing I had here was the free soup they served when we sat down. I mean, that soup was incredible -- I should have asked for more. My husband and I tried a number of different dim sum options, and I love that we had that possibility. I wasn't wowed by what I ate, though. The faux meat inside the dim sum wasn't really something I enjoyed, and the bean-paste filled dim sum was too sweet and the flaky outside too fatty. I'm not someone who is against processed foods or anything, but it was a little too fake to me, somehow. I would probably go back here to try some of their other options, but I wouldn't go in for the dim sum specifically. Now, the vegetable dumplings and bean-filled buns at Din Tai Fung were incredible, but there was also a long wait to get in and there weren't nearly as many vegetarian-friendly options available. The location of the restaurant itself is nothing special and the decor inside is minimal as well. If you're looking for a casual lunch spot or just want to support a friendly vegetarian place, go check it out.
