Fine Mess Smokehouse

"If you’re a fan of smokehouse-style dishes teeming with flavour which take the American barbecue concept to another level, you’ll want to add this eatery to your list, as you won’t find anything remotely similar anywhere else in the city. In this informal restaurant, the only dining option is the à la carte, which features an impressive array of dishes for sharing as well as others that showcase its “Low & Slow” barbecue process. Head chef Elena Kaperda is also the face of the “Lick the Spoon” project – a unique patisserie workshop." - Michelin Inspector

The MICHELIN Guide Greece 2023 Is Out!

"Chef Elena Kaperda, already known for the ‘Lick the Spoon’ pastry project, provides a BBQ offer, focusing on smoked flavors. An original concept in town, in a cozy establishment, where diners can savor the ‘Low & Slow’ approach." - The MICHELIN Guide

Perfection is the only word that can describe this wonderful Michelin-starred restaurant in Greece. We were warmly welcomed with open arms to experience their modern take on Greek and smoked cuisine at the highest level. The food was fantastic and delicious; every element was impeccably crafted. We chose the tasting menu with wine pairing, and we loved it. The portions were much larger than we expected—so much so that we were so full we could barely manage the dessert. The wines, carefully selected from America, were impressive and surprising. The price was well-aligned with the quality and quantity of food and wine we received. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. We will definitely return when we come back to Greece one day!

Truly a Fine Mess in the best way! We tried the tasting menu at Fine Mess Smokehouse (great for two or four people), and every single dish was exceptional. The flavors are rich and well-balanced, and the experience feels curated with care and creativity. The service is top-notch – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about every dish. The absolute standout for me was the quail: original, deeply flavorful, and the cinnamon-infused smoke is simply mind-blowing. Just a heads-up – be mindful of the small bones, but it’s absolutely worth it. One small suggestion: the chicken lollipops were delicious, but there should really be one per person. “Lollipops” aren’t meant to be shared, and it would enhance the experience to enjoy a full portion each. Don’t miss the chance to step into the room where they smoke and slow-cook the food – it’s a unique and memorable part of the visit that shows just how much passion goes into every dish. This place is recommended by the Michelin Guide, and I fully agree – it’s the best value for money and unique . Finally, a special mention to the beautiful ceramic dishes and cutlery – a thoughtful and aesthetic touch that complements the food perfectly. Highly recommended – an experience that lingers in the best possible way

We had an amazing experience at Fine Mess Smokehouse! The food was superb and service was next level. We had the new tasting menu which was super good value. Food was well cooked and as expected, smoky and tender. The old fashion pairing (whiskey) was a nice addition, as a scotch lover myself, exploring the Bourbon from the states was very much exciting! The service was friendly and helpful. The vibe was very pleasant and chill. A perfect spot for family gatherings or date night!

And where did this place come from?! In a city where we notoriously got disappointed by the finer dinings/european fusion restaurants this emerged as absolute diamond. Very seamless and professional service with great a setting of great interior design you find a restaurant where bbq smoking is the theme of the dishes. We went for a tasting menu and all (bar one, that was still good) of the dishes were fanstsic. Very well balanced and thoughtfully flavoured. They offer either wine paring menu or an Old Fashioned pairing menu. Given its uniqueness we went for the latter. But in hindsight 7 bourbon cocktails don’t provide full justice for the food. But they were all very good. Worth a try. - Value for money? Yes - Worth a detour? Yes - Best for (occasion)? A unique food experience based on bbq smoking - Would I go back? In a heartbeat

Let’s be honest—the food was fine, nothing exceptional, but acceptable. The cocktail is very tasty. However, the service really needs serious improvement. I had to wait over 40 minutes just to get my main course, and there was absolutely no prior notice or communication about the delay. That kind of lack of consideration is extremely frustrating. By the time the food finally arrived, I had lost my appetite, and the whole experience felt like a waste. Easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had recently—not because of the food, but because of how poorly the situation was handled. Really disappointing. I would strongly advise against ordering any of the so-called starters — they felt more like side dishes to the main course than actual appetizers. Even worse, if you don’t finish them, the staff won’t serve your main course, which feels unnecessarily rigid. Throughout the wait, no one checked in to ask if I needed assistance or if they could begin serving the next course. The complete lack of attentiveness was frustrating and disappointing. This was, without a doubt, the worst service experience I’ve had at any Michelin restaurant. I do not recommend visiting.

It was our second time here. Initially, we were only offered the tasting menu, and the à la carte option wasn’t mentioned until we asked about it, which felt a bit odd. That aside, the food is very good — I especially recommend the ribs! Just a friendly note to the owners: the music selection felt a little off for the atmosphere. It was mostly upbeat, mainstream pop, which made it feel a bit like dining at a beach club rather than enjoying fine food. A more curated playlist could enhance the overall experience.
