It was a cold winter's night, and we wanted to try some place new, some place close by too, as it was a cold winter's night.
My husband and I parked the car, and walked to Finley's Pub. I am glad we did.
The interior of the bar is dark, with hard floors, typical bar signs on the walls, neon lights, etc. There was a small Christmas tree in the corner, on top of the bar. There was one other patron in the bar, so it wasn't crowded or noisy. The bartender took our drink order, and left some menus. Nice place, typical neighborhood bar, with street parking that was free. No parking lot or anything like that, as it's in a very small strip type shoppette.
My husband and I looked over the menu, and decided that we'd try the mac and cheese eggrolls. When the bartender brought our drinks, we asked a few questions, specifically if the eggrolls had any garlic. The bartender said she wasn't sure, so she would ask. Great, no problem. Actually, there would be a real problem if there was, and I had eaten some. I have a severe food allergy for garlic.
The next person that came over to our table was not the bartender, as we had expected, it was the actual chef from the kitchen. She asked very specific questions regarding my food allergy, and proceeded to ask if that also extended to onions (which are in the same family, and yes, I don't tolerate onions either, I know, a real pain, right!). This chef really knows her stuff. She proceeded to tell us what she could do for me/us, what foods she could prepare that wouldn't have either, and how she would handle making the several different dishes. Both my husband and I were totally shocked, as well as impressed! The chef went well out of her way to meet my culinary diet restrictions. WOW! I have never, or I should say, very rarely, had any restaurant pay this much attention to a patron's dietary restrictions. WOW!!!
We ended up ordering the Irish Nachos, which the chef made with french fries, instead of chips, because the chips have garlic powder on them. The Irish Nachos were very good! I highly recommend them.
Needless to say, Service is EXCELLENT at Finley's Pub. The prices are the same that you would find at any local bar. Parking is free, on the street. The interior is your typical bar, dark, with the usual signs, neon lights, etc. It's your neighborhood bar. I'm not sure how crowded or busy they get, as I previously stated, there was only one other patron in the bar, and it was the 5:00 pm hour. Oh well. I'm glad we went, as they really took care of me. Thanks Finley's!
