"Ok, so football means a black and white ball before the pigskin at this friendly neighborhood Mid City pub that attracts ex-pats from all over the map. The definition of sports doesn’t stop there, everything from golf to rugby and hurling is on the telly. Still, Finn McCool’s is equal opportunity and remains a solid place to catch a Saints game or college ball." - Eater Staff

I came for the bloody Mary, which were supposed to be good but what knocked me out is when I’ve walked around. I’ve paid off a Benji. I thought I had paid off and I was just leaving the change, but the bartender quickly came over with all my change, that was outstanding but again ambience is good. Bloody Mary excellence. Decent parking a first choice in the city full of first choices.

Geeeeeeez that fish and chips meal I had on Friday was amazing. 10/10 They do food most days until about 1 or 2 but it sells out, it's that good. The bartenders rule and they have the best priced drinks in town. It's definitelyy a classic neighborhood pub with a rustic vibe despite a chill patio and new pool tables. Straight up though, the fish and chips will change you as a human.

Six Traveling Foodies ladies celebrating St. Patrick's Day enjoyed a delicious lunch of Ruben and chicken salad sandwiches with a side of Irish potato salad. Delicious! The area was decorated and the old building's atmosphere was admired. Our server, Kennedy, was delightful and informative when asked about the history of this 100+ building. A return visit for sure. Thank you, Ginger.

Favorite spot to go with friends or alone. Very safe and comfortable. I think of it as my modern day Cheers.

Food not available when I went. Environment was fun after some in the neighborhood eased up letting a new person come into their atmosphere. Good music and great service! Neat little cove of a bar with different elements. So almost 5 stars- would like to try the food!

They treat you right, and Ginger can cook like a goddess! Big regular crowd. And I love it!

Google
Walked in, asked what beers they had and the woman behind the bar said "we've got a lot of beers you'll just have to look" with an attitude and then immediately dismissed me and went on to someone else. Clearly I was bothering her by being there due to her attitude so I left and went somewhere else where they don't act like they're doing you a favor and like you're just a nuisance. I went down the street to two other bars. The service at the other bars was excellent. No need to waste your time at Finn MacNotCools Pub.

Really cool old school Irish style pub.

Yelp
Probably the worst service currently in the Downtown/Near Southside bars around. Everytime either myself or a group of friends, have attended this bar over the past 3-5 times, I have been met with the same 2-3 bartenders with the most ridiculously "down-in-the-mouth," attitudes. No stranger to a dive bar, I invite the experience of a standoffish set and a moody, dark setting. But mood, setting, and even tone, are theatrical at best when it comes right down to it. Sorry you're down. I'm a little down too. But ignoring customers when they speak to you is obviously something that the local set or their owner/managers haven't been calling these bartenders out on. Unless one can PROVE they are DEAF with a disability and they handled a customer issue in the way they did, there's no excuse for a customer being CHARGED a "walked tab," for their inexcusable, pervasive, failure to respond to customer questions or needs by pretending to not hear what they were asking. Ridiculous. You're NOT DEAF! There's three people in the bar, one has a reasonable question about their charge. ANSWER the question, don't pretend you can't hear them speaking at stadium level speaking voice. Not cool McCool. Leaving for McFly's. Peace out.

Yelp
This place is the bomb- I moved to the neighborhood 6 months ago and this has been my go to spot. Full of locals and regulars, great bartenders and classic dive bar/pub feel. 10/10 recommend

Justine A.

Yelp
The service is the best and the drinks and HH is amazing. I will definitely be back. I recommend the ranch water didn't disappoint

Malea S.

Yelp
Great neighborhood pub with good drinks at fare prices and good happy hour. The bar is a must see

Ben G.

Yelp
Just looked at my checking statement from our most recent visit to this place and they took the creative freedom to add a $10 tip on top of our bill after we left. FYI, that is illegal and the way you treat your patrons should also be illegal. Poor service, shady bar staff that adds tips......... Good luck as I will be sharing these experiences with many others and promoting those establishments that deserve the business. If you have done business at this establishment I recommend checking your receipt as others have also noted this shady behavior.....

Yelp
A great neighborhood bar in Fairmont neighborhood. Bartender and patrons are friendly. Beer/drinks prices are average. They do have a kitchen but they allow patron to bring food from outside.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Great vibes. Disgusting ladies room. The vomit stains on the wall are one thing, but at least clean your toilets. Seriously?

Daniel W.

Yelp
Great small little pub. Highly recommend for a place to start/finish the night. The bartenders there were very inviting.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Still appears to be closed...I think they've been closed since the start of Covid with little indication of when they will be reopening. Too bad, was a decent place to meet up with friends.

Yelp
As I approached the entrance of Finn Mac Cool's (trying not to trip in my Valentine's Day heels that I really can't walk in), I could taste the smoke seeping through the building from around the corner! I turned around and put my coat in my car because I knew it'd reek for weeks if I let it in there. I'm a little sensitive/allergy-ish, but I think we could all agree on the potency of the cigarette fumes at Finn's. But still, 4 stars it is! I may have feared for my lungs, but all in all I had a blast at this little pub. They had woodchuck cider on tap - which is awesome - along with a slew of other great beers ranging from cheap to pretty crafty. The front room with the bar has tables for sitting, mingling, and eating, and the back room is a sort of pool hall/sort of lounge for roaming and sporting. We played cricket, and I'll have you know I've got some surprising dart throwing prowess going on. There are a couple tables, a bar along the wall (with video games attached?!), and plenty of stools in this back room. You can put your feet up while others play their games! Know what else is back there? A quarter wall with a door that leads to nowhere new. It's literally just a random wall with a door in it. It's quite strange and makes this otherwise conventional bar a bit whimsical!

Holland S.

Yelp
Fin MacCools is a good neighborhood bar. They have a casual atmosphere with a full bar which is always a plus. If you like playing pool or darts they've got that too. I'm not sure if it's the location (set between hospital district, funky cool Fairmount, and TCU) or the bar, but it has kind of a strange mix of people without a clear vibe. However, if you're looking for a clean bar with a little entertainment, it's an ok place to land. There aren't any other bars in the same 5 mile radius with the pool, darts, and tvs playing sports. It's more of a guys pub and that's absolutely alright if that's the vibe you're looking for. It is a smoking bar for those who care.

Estevan G.

Yelp
Cool spot to get a drink and hang out with friends. I stopped here by accident with my dad and we played some pool while drinking. The bartender was really friendly and the drinks came out fast. We stayed and watched the game on TV. Everyone in the bar was pretty friendly and just having a good time. I would be going back more often, it's definitely a good place to grab a beer and relax.

Taylor N.

Yelp
Been here several times and will keep coming back. Beer is cold, staff is friendly, and it's a great atmosphere.

Tonya J.

Yelp
Good times Good people Great bartenders Fun times Prices are pretty decent Separate non-smoking room

Brittany C.

Yelp
I love this place. Been coming for the last two years. I can come hide out and no one will find me. It's never packed and the staff is friendly. Drinks are super cheap. This will always be a favorite of mine

Caroline H.

Yelp
Terrible service.Justin was extremely rude to me for no reason. If I could give 0 stars I would. I couldn't believe his lack of professionalism.

Yelp
Finn Mac Cool's is a great little bar on 8th Ave near the Hospital District just South of down town. The interior is right out of Dublin and with plenty of windows, you can always see whats happeneing on busy 8th Ave. Here's the Skinny: -Great selection of beer on tap and bottle -Smoking allowed -Food selection is either bulk pretzels or Lay's potato chips -Juke Box, Pool Table and 3 Mega Touch Machines -A lot of T.V.'s This is a very laid back place. I 've been at all times and it is never too busy. It's a great place to bring a friend or if you're flying solo, the bar staff and patrons are always outgoing. Gotta love Ft. Worth!

Courtney P.

Yelp
I think this place is just great, it's my kinda bar, not too big, but not tiny either, there's a really cool seating area in the back so you're not forced to just sit at a normal table or bar top and a must have for every bar...a pool table. I can't stand that so many bars are without pool tables anymore. I loved the place, but then again, I was drunk, so who knows, it might suck :p I'll definitely go back when I'm in town again, it's a pretty popular hangout spot for a couple of my good buddies and trust me, they're pro-drunkards, so they know where to go have a beer.

Yelp
If you live in Fairmount or Ryan Place, then you should already know about this awesome locally-owned bar. And if you don't live there, then swing on by to check it out. The drinks are good and inexpensive, the staff are always cheerful or good for a little conversation, and the place just feels 'comfortable'. It's not pretentious, nor trendy. It's just a good, basic, hometown bar. One that I often think, "I should go there at least once a week," yet, I don't cuz I'm cheap (and they're CHEAP!). I just figure I'll make a drink at home ;) They expanded their space over a year ago, so they have some pool tables and dart boards. A modern jukebox stands between the two spaces. There's a room in the back for NON-smokers, so the main areas are in fact smoky. Yet, it's not too horrible.

Tina A.

Yelp
Great local bar with a smoke-free back room. Beer is affordable and it is quiet enough to catch up with old friends. It's one of my favorite spots for Stitch And Bitch nights (girlfriends, yarn and beer -- a great way to unwind).

Frank S.

Yelp
Great neighborhood Irish pub. They have a digital sign always counting down to St Pattys day hanging from the ceiling. The atmosphere is friendly, cordial, and inviting. Lots of locals to chat with. The bartenders are very cool. It is a smoking facility with a non smoking area. My wife and I went there Sunday to play some pool. Had a good time. 2 vodka cherry sours and 2 draft beers, $9.50 - not too shabby! When in the area, I like going here. Give'em a shot, I think they'll earn your business too!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Went in to Finn MacCool's Pub not too long ago & LOVED it - EXCEPT for the smoke. What's a gal gotta do to get a cool hangout that doesn't leave her choking and coughing for a week?!? At any rate, if you can handle the smoking - they have a great selection of beer, nice folks and a great "neighborhood" bar feel.

La Flama B.

Yelp
Terribly rude service. After attending this neighborhood bar for years it has recently undergone new management that has gone downhill. The prices went up and the service is self destructive. Verrrry expensive now. Just until the past few months it was a lively fun hangout spot. Now it's ghetto and sketchy to say the least. What a sore disappointment. Never again.

Andrea R.

Yelp
Overcharged both me and my friend double what our tabs were supposed to be. They fixed it upon us questioning the amount, but offered no explanation or apology. I'm left to assume they try that on purpose thinking people will be too drunk to notice. Since they run cards without providing an itemized receipt first, I bet that happens a lot to unsuspecting or intoxicated people. Also very smoky, even in the "non-smoking" room.

Cecily C.

Yelp
Simple neighborhood bar, no pretense, sit, chat, and drink your beer.

Izzy S.

Yelp
The only reason this place is getting 4 stars is because of its cheap drinks. There are two bartenders there who are really laid back and cool, one of them works at another bar called "Fred's" or something. But there is this asshole bartender that I think everybody has had to deal with there. Don't ask this guy for an opinion or his beer list, guy will wave you off. If he is in, I don't tip him purposely.

Eric T.

Yelp
On their website, it states they are a smoke free bar. When I got there there was an ashtray on every table. I called the bar and whoever answered the phone said, "Everyone here smokes.". He also said they have a non-smoking "section", which no one ever uses. I could smell the smoke coming out of the bar from the street! Granted, I am a beer judge, so my sense are sharper than the average person, but how can you taste the beer with that much smoke?!?!? Cool name for a bar.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Finn Mac Cool's is great place. It's not huge, but not tiny. It has a great, laid back, down-to-earth atmosphere. Good selection of beers, some pool and darts, and a jukebox. When it gets busy getting a seat can be hard, but it's a great place to hang out. I definitely have some memories from here.

Juliann P.

Yelp
Now serving sandwiches!!! They are really tasty..... there are about 6 to choose from, all reasonably priced around 7$. I had something tasty that I can't specifically remember what it was called. It was some sort of chicken bacon ranch goodness, with chipotle ranch!!! They are lightly toasted or possibly grilled and served with a bag of chips.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Have loved this place for many years! Very few true neighborhood pubs left in the area. Beer selection is good and at decent prices, especially on imports. Pools tables and dart boards are a great way to spend time with friends and release the stress from your day. Two thumbs up for sure!

Dexter M.

Yelp
A bar to hang and drink with friends, darts and pool if you play. Great bartenders and the tab is always reasonable. If your looking for a bar with bells and whistles, this aint your place - Its a place to drink!

Rob L.

Yelp
Low-key, cool and quiet. Good drink prices and variety, with easy-going bartenders. A little smoky, but nowhere near the worst we've been to. Nice cozy space, but more parking would be handy. Even right on a main thoroughfare, the neighborhood can get kind of dark. It's a neighborhood-type bar, but we've never felt like outsiders when we've been. Also, patrons are easy on the juke box. No Tom Jones marathons - or Lords of Acid marathons for that matter. Very eclectic tastes with room for everyone.

Maharshi M.

Yelp
The place is right next to a few restaurants and I had gone in to get only one beer as I was waiting on friends to go eat. They have a ten dollar minimum on cards which I obviously didn't know but the bartender was super nice as he charged me ten bucks on the card and gave me my change back as cash. They have a good selection of bottled beers not many on tap.

D B.

Yelp
I'm a fan of this bar. It's spacious, usually not overcrowded, and clean. I always get good service with the bartenders and the location is pretty great. Near Magnolia, but down 8th, so there's less congestion, which is great on weekends. The bar is divided into two halves, smoking and non-smoking, both with a bar and pool tables. I appreciate the fact that they cater to both. If you park in the back parking lot, you can always enter through the back exit! (Sharing that info because, like a dummy, I didn't know it was there for the longest time.)

CJ F.

Yelp
Great low key bar. Cheap drinks, but the only drawback is the smoke. Very smoky, makes it hard to breathe.

Marie C.

Yelp
Best little bar!! When I say little I mean little. But that's what makes it so great. Bartenders know you and it's a very relaxed environment. Good drink specials and good variety. They have pool tables and jukebox. I have nothing bad to say about this place!

Catherine N.

Yelp
A great, low-key neighborhood spot. Nothing fancy, but the staff are attentive and friendly, and the beer is good. Pool tables and dart boards available if you want to play. There is a larger smoking section in the front and a smoke-free room in the back - the front does get pretty smoky when it's busy and the ventilation isn't the best, so if you truly hate smoke it may not be the best for you. Also no food so don't come here if you have the munchies. But if you want a good beer with good friends, come here for sure.
