A friend and I decided to try Fins in the Marriott hotel at Laurel Park (in the former Sweet Lorraine's space). What a mistake! The first clue that something was wrong was standing at the hostess desk, alone, for more than five minutes before someone acknowledged us. We were told to sit anywhere. Once seated, we had to request our own menus after a few minutes (clue two). The menu, for lunch, was ridiculously overpriced, both for time and location (clue three)...I was not anticipating $20 per person for lunch! The selection was limited, too, especially for anyone with dietary restrictions, such as vegetarian or gluten-free (clue four). The fare looked to be standard American, circa 1990. I finally decided on a salmon Caesar salad, which was supposed to be about $16 (for lunch!), and we ordered. Clue five should be about the quality of the food, but I am unable to comment on the food. After over 30 minutes in a restaurant with about 15 other customers, all already eating, my salad had yet to arrive. I cancelled my order. Both the waitress and the manager stated they had no idea what happened. The manager explicitly stated that she did not know WHERE the chef had gone, but they assured me that my salad had NOT EVEN been started. The waitress said she saw the chef take a piece of salmon out, look at it, and return it to the fridge. She stated she had been checking repeatedly for the salad. The manager's explanation was that she didn't know where her chef was and did not know why the food had not been made. This is unacceptable! The manager offered to get my salad to go but I didn't have endless time to wait. I left Fins as I entered, hungry.
We then walked across the parking lot to Panera Bread and got hot food in about 10 minutes.
In summary, I do not anticipate returning to this restaurant in the future.
