I was in need of a real meal, something hardy that I wasn't able to get any other time that week. From the outside this appears to be nothing more than a pizzeria, but as I got nearer I saw the menu and that drew me in.
The really played up the Italian eatery vibe inside with the way it was set up. That commonly associated red and white checkboard pattern, dim lighting, and the smell of garlic is amazing. We were led to a table, given menus and left to be until our server showed up.
Our server was less than enthusiastic. Not only did she have a flat affect, but she was hard to find. If felt like if we did one thing out of line our service would be in danger. I know I was thirsty that day, but to get a refill was almost impossible.
The food, however, was pleasant. After looking over the menu my friend and I decided on a few sharable items and then our own entrees. We got a Bowl of Meatballs, Fried Mozzarella Balls, and Garlic Bread to share. The meatballs were amazing, perfectly seasoned, appropriate size to share, and did not make us full so that we could enjoy our main courses to come. The mozzarella balls were a nice compliment to the meatballs. Seriously put one of each on a plate and you can have a nice cheesy meaty bite. The one let down of the sharable items was the garlic bread. I felt like they could have done this one a bit better. It was a small loaf of bread that wasn't all that easy to share. You had to rip pieces of the loaf to get it going and there wasn't much of a garlic flavor to it as well.
My main course was what they have named on the menu as The Real Nonna's Spaghetti Bolognese. This usually comes with a traditional Italian beef meat sauce and porcini mushrooms. I'm not a fan of mushrooms so I asked for this without the mushrooms. It was a good portion to serve as a meal and I continued to rip off pieces of the garlic loaf to try and mop up the sauce. It was a delightful meal that hit the spot.
