Whoa. My experience at this place was so much better than I anticipated. I've driven past for years and never stopped, and boy was I missing out
First, the food:
I had a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich on a croissant and it was out of this world. The croissant was fresh, the turkey were real slices off the bird- not processed lunch meat, the bacon was tasty, the avocado was a beautiful color, perfectly ripe without any stringiness or a single bruise. The lettuce was beautifully fresh, but the kicker was the tomato. This sandwich had the best tomato on it that I have eaten in years. What? How this out of the way place ended up with such wonderful produce at the end of October is beyond me, but holy cow, it was a good sandwich. Today they played oldies in the cafe, Beatles and Van Morrison. Singing along, and gobbling delicious food with my pumpkin patch dirtied little boy was pretty magical.
Along with other menu items, they also have yummy fresh apple cider donuts for $0.50 each.
The rest of this review is for doing this as an event with a little person. My son is 2 1/2. I came here midday during a Tuesday, but there was so much to do, I wish I had come a bit earlier. This was a heavenly pumpkin patch experience. As it was early on a weekday, there were no hay rides, and only one bounce house was up, but I don't feel we missed anything. There was no crowd, and my son was able to run from attraction to attraction. Along with the adult corn maze, there was a much smaller maze targeted at little people, a wooden Noah's Arc with slides, lots and lots of animals to visit and pet, tire swings, a hay pit, the earlier mentioned bounce house, and more. I'm not sure about weekends, but the outdoor stuff we did today was free!
At around 1 they turned on outdoor music which really enhanced the experience for me. Lots of classic hits, that broke up the tedium that can arise when your toddler wants you to pretend to drive the boat for the 50th time.
My advice for parents: Pick a (mostly) dry weekday. Wear galoshes, if you're the puddle jumping kind. I suggest planning time for lots of early play and then to eat lunch there. You might want to bring quarters, as there is animal feed in quarter-turny vending machines, this is the only food that is appropriate to give to the animals, so bringing your own for them is a no no.
Summary:
You should go!!! Beat the crowd, play, eat there.
