Ok, so I'm torn. After reading several reviews about this place I went in cautiously optimistic; which means I wanted to like it, but had read some discouraging reviews.
First off, it's got a cool vibe. The artwork, design and layout is appealing. The atmosphere is very upbeat and lively. Right off the bat, I loved it.
Because it's a wing joint, it takes a few minutes to order. All the sauces, combinations and wing choices make it a real experience to order. We ordered a plethora of wings and roughly 10 sauces, as well as a basket of fry's and drinks. The total came to $56. Their choice in sauces ranged from a weekly special, a buffalo (mild, medium and hot), a Thai peanut sauce, a bourbon sauce, barbecue sauce, and their special El Jefe super hot wing sauce, amongst others.
Once seated, we waited, and waited....and waited. Granted, it was lunch time and we're patient, but it seemed excessively long. We eventually got our frys, ate them and continued to wait. Albeit, the frys were a surprising highlight. Forty minutes later our food arrived. Again, it was a busy lunch hour with not many tables available, but again, the biggest concern for reviewers online is the wait time. Our patience meter was tested.
So after years of taste testing wings (unprofessionally), there are many styles and ways they are delivered. Theres are deep fried and we chose to have our dipping sauce on the side. I'd say these wings were cooked to a very 'done' state. Not bad cause I don't like the slimy skin and soft undercooked wings, it was just cooked thoroughly, to say the least. It's a thing.
Now to the sauces, and to be honest, I loved most of them. Of course I'm a picky sauce person so I had my favorites. But the variety and unique flavors created a variety of options. Well done.
Overall the wait time sucked, the wings were solid, and the sauces continue to surprise me. Again the fry's were delicious. They also have a bar, which was a welcome surprise.
Overall I'd go back. I loved my experience, but the wait time kinda put a cloud on my experience.
