America’s Artisan Cheese Industry Is Being Threatened by COVID-19 | Eater

"A Maryland goat‑cheese producer that sources milk from a network of eight Amish farms and has attempted to shift production toward longer‑aged, lower‑moisture cheeses to preserve milk value. The business has cut nonessential expenses and lowered wages to continue purchasing milk, but with more than 80 percent of sales wiped out, its financial resilience is uncertain." - Anne Saxelby

I didn't get s chance to visit their store, but I did try the Merry Goat Round soft-ripened goat cheese which I got at a market in Seattle. Excellent flavor and consistency. Highly recommend their products!

Stopped here for a bite to eat. After our party of 10 ordered our food we were offered a large table while we waited. There was only 1 person working the kitchen, so it took a while to get all of our food out, but it was 100% worth it. It was some of the best food I and my family ever had. The workers were delightful and polite. Overall, a little pricey and a long wait time, but it is more than worth it.

Wonderful store specializing in cheese made right there in the building, which your able to observe. Easy to find, located right along the main road in Accident, Maryland. There is also a variety of other delicacies and wine available. The staff there was warm, friendly, attentive and informative providing samples of their variety of cheeses and wines. Their brand of goat cheese was very tasty, especially when paired with the variety of jellies they sell. Overall, a very nice experience, I enjoyed myself there and I'm glad I made the stop.

We did the cheese and wine tasting and we had a fabulous time. All the employees were so nice and attentive. They had such great knowledge of the cheeses and wines. Highly recommend! They have coffees and lunches that also looked great.

Very kind and friendly staff that knows their stuff. The cheese and wine pairing was a delightful experience. The wines we're fun to try and their cheese selection was interesting. Key note: almost all their cheeses are goat milk based, this can be a turn off for folks but the ones I tried were fairly mild.

This was our second time visiting. Our first I'm the new location. We were there for a wine and cheese pairing. Pablo is always such a gracious host. The pairing is so much more than wine and cheese. Pablo provides you with a meal, when you factor in all of the accoutrements, from the fresh bread, roasted tomatoes and onions, pate and pickles, and the meat board. A trip to Deep Creek would not be complete without a visit to Firefly Farms.

You must give this place a try! We were looking for a place to eat as we left Deep Creek. I'm a pescatarian and it's not always easy to find good food that's not fried, etc and meets my dietary needs. We ordered 2 sandwiches. One had ham and cheese and the other mushrooms and cheese. (They were not simple sandwiches- they were gourmet!! ) Simply delicious!! Each sandwich was packed in a recycle friendly container, with home-made pickles (I think they were green tomatoes), home-made slaw, and kettle chips. Oh my!!! All fantastic!!! The bread was perfectly cooked- I had to finish every morsel even though I was stuffed. As we waited for the sandwiches to be prepared, we were given several cheese samples. Mmmmm...delicious! This place has award winning cheese. (We left with some cheese- we couldn't resist.) I cannot rave enough about this place. It's a hidden gem! You must stop here for a specialty sandwich and the most amazing cheese!! We will be back!

From the beginning entry into this place, you get a strong sense of what they do from start to finish at this really suprisingly low key but awesome cheese shop. We timed them right in the middle of making their round goat cheese, and the general manger Chad was extremely friendly and more than happy to give us a little guide of their process that you could view with their open windows to the back area. The kids paid pretty good attention (more points to Chad) and seeing the adjoining aging room for the cheese with all the details he provided was very cool. He was also very knowledgeable with no hesitation in his responses to our questions. The sampler platter was extensive, and we got the fig and orange goat cheese spread and Bella Vita (really good). We also met one of the owners (Pablo) and one thing you can see from the start is these guys really enjoy cheese beyond it being their job. The also do wine and cheese pairings with a whole lunch spread for big parties (didn't get to explore that, but I bet it's a good time). If you like cheese and something a little different, it's a no brainer for stop and over for a visit.
