Firehouse subs! Awesome crew, and great tasting food, along with a very clean place. Also I like it there because they support the firefighters, we need that! Thanks people at Firehouse subs!! Love your sandwiches 😋😋 After I've read all the other lame one or two star reviews, that's petty stuff to be complaining about. I've went there a few times craving for subs and they were closed on a day that weren't supposed to be, but who cares, there are other days to go there. And so what someone waits a few minutes in line for their subs, maybe the online order was there before that person was. Stop giving this restaurant bad reviews when there a good restaurant! Suck it up people!! Have shalom not war....

Horrible service and overpriced food. I'll go hungry before wasting any more time and money here.

Love this location, the staff here is always so friendly and the subs are consistent. Usually get the hook and ladder. Can't add your own sauces due to covid but can still get some in packets if you ask! Clean space, quick service.

We typically go to this location and never have issues. Wanted to stop after getting off work, there were still people in the dining room with 15 minutes until they closed (we just wanted to order our subs and go home to eat) but as we were walking up they locked the door at 8:45 when they closed at 9. Kinds bs that they’re supposed to keep doors open during business hours but whatever I guess.

Firehouse subs is delicious, I'll start with that. However, what I cannot accept it's constantly getting missing or wrong items on my deliveries. I understand people make mistakes, and if it's just a one off here and there, I can accept that. However, the fact that I keep paying for items and Firehouse subs is not refunding me my money when they are missing because it's within the 60-day period is just unacceptable and theft.

Was the only customer in the restaurant. Waited over five minutes to give my sub order, and then the worker made two online orders before starting mine. The sub at least tasted pretty good.

Stopped in to grab a quick sandwich tonight as it was getting to late to cook. I've got to tell you, the customer service was spot on. The man that served us started with a big smile on his face, was very friendly, helpful, and kept us engaged in conversation while we waited. Kudos to you sir. We will definitely be back....

Awesome staff and tasty subs, soups and beverages!

My daughter's soccer team ended up all meeting here after a game, so I think the staff was a but overwhelmed. I had ordered our food online, and it was ready before the stated pick-up time. A couple of the employees seemed new, but they all remained calm and were able to get through each family's order in a fairly reasonable amount of time.

Some of the best service I have had in a long time. The Manager is an absolute Gem. Food was great and will be coming back

No customers in the place at 12:45 on a Saturday, the tables hadn't been cleaned, the soda counter was dirty and empty boxes stacked on a couple of tables. The meatball sandwich was a 4 out of 5, the pickle spear was old and uneatable. It will be sometime before I return.

On Thanksgiving "Eve", I walked in at 8:30. 30 minutes before the time that was posted on the door for holiday hours. They said "do you have a pick up?" To which i responded no, and then they said "we are closing early for the holiday". Extremely frustrating that the employees just decided to close earlier than what was posted.

We had a large order for a clean up crew - 30 of them. From start of order to pick up, Lindsey was helpful and basically just awesome!!! Everyone loved the food and the cookies were insane!!! Thank you!!!!

Never had a problem with the food until the last time I went here and the employee was taking a smoke break as I walked in. She followed me in and immediately took my order and prepped food without washing hands.

The front door was inoperable for some reason. There was a handwritten sign saying to use the back door. Inside of the restaurant was very smoky. I find it oddly quiet. No tv or radio. Tables were dirty. This was at 6 PM business was not very busy so it doesn't seem like there Employee and either another employee or owner was sitting at one of the tables in the dining area what what appeared to be other family members eating. The glass on the windows and doors were crazy dirty. Clearly a portly managed location compared to the others. But despite all of these odd findings the sandwich was still delicious!

Terrible service. Every time I go there, there's either an issue with my order, you can't order on the app, or they're closing early for whatever reason.

The food is excellent when the place can take orders. This place no longer takes orders over the app, and so when I go in to order at 8:50, I get told, " Unfortunately, we are taking no more orders." That's awful considering that I came in during business hours and didn't receive service. Won't be going back to the Ingersoll location until something is fixed or changed.

I was so excited to hear that Firehouse Subs was coming to Des Moines! I'd had them a decent amount when I lived in Georgia and traveled in Florida. Once I knew they opened, I was craving it so we finally went. We arrived shortly before 6:00 pm on a Sunday night. There was a group of three at the register but otherwise, no one. That changed once we sat down and the line got really long and almost all the tables were full. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I normally got the Brisket sandwich with cheddar but decided to change it up and got the Steak & Cheese. My husband had The Engineer and we got the Meatball for our daughter. Milk wasn't listed as a drink option but I asked about it and they said they just got some. So if you want a milk for your kids, be sure to ask. Once our food was ready they called out our name and brought it to the table. My husband had asked for no onions but they were still there. He picked them off so it wasn't a huge deal. He enjoyed his sandwich. I was disappointed in my Steak & Cheese. It just wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. Our daughter didn't like the meatballs at all. She normally loves meatballs. When my husband tasted it, he said it tasted like Chef Boyardee. I'll still be coming back for my normal sandwich but this wasn't the best first impression of I needed one.

This place has improved so much since my last visit. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was correct on the first try and the place was spotless! The last time I stopped in was over a year ago. The service was always so slow and it usually took them at least 2 tries to get my food right. I can't say enough about the staff. They were all chatty and friendly and they all interacted with me, especially when I found out my favorite sandwich was discontinued! They gave menu suggestions and again, my order was promptly and correctly made. I'm sad my sandwich is gone but so glad to have them back as a lunch option!

Best subs hands down! Everytime I stop in, they always get it right. And the taste is so addictive.

I went to the Firehouse Subs on Ingersoll Ave in Des Moines on Friday 2/17 around 7:20/7:30..I had just drove 3 hrs because I had an event I was attending in town and previously worked at a Firehouse & absolutely love the food and visiting different locations and when I arrived with my three kids I got up to the register and stood for a few mins then a guy with the name tag Chad came and took my order. He was super frustrated and short with me. I apologized several times, didn't know what his deal was until he said "If I seem frustrated it's because I am! We close in an hour and I have yet to clean my steamers!! Everyone knows you need to clean around this time. Now I'm not going to get out of here until 10:30!" Continued to huff and puff because I added drinks to my order for my children. He made me feel unwelcome & like I was burdened because I wanted to eat at my favorite restaurant. I am not the type of person to complain or even write reviews but this worker was so unprofessional and apparently the team manager or leader. He had two employees that were working with him that kept apologizing for his outburst. I highly doubt I'll visit this location again. I also feel bad for the workers. it did seem like they were uncomfortable working with him or embarrassed of his behavior. The food was great though. I hate that the one worker made me feel so uncomfortable!!

My first time ever coming here. Stopped in to get my boyfriend a sandwich to bring to him at work. I was really impressed by this location. The manager was on it and she was running the place really well. Smelled amazing. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Very fast and efficient too. Saw the manager tell a girl to get off break and get back to work when it got busy. I appreciate that. I will come back for myself. Very impressed

Worst place ever !!! Employees are some of the worst ever. This is such a shame, because I know the franchise in general makes some great sandwiches !! Terrible management at this location !!!

We got the best service of any Firehouse Subs restaurant we went to! Jessie and his staff recommended the loaded baked potato soup, which was wonderful! We tried the lemon white chocolate cookies as well, per Jessie's suggestion and they are awesome. The meatball subs were very good as well as the brownies. Clean. Very friendly staff! Family friendly. A little pricey but well worth the trip, when you get stellar service! Lot and street parking. Marcy'sDinerTantrumScale 5/5- NoScreamingKids.

Meatball was good, Turkey Bacon Ranch was disgusting. Service was horrible. We ordered through this app for pick-up (actually for curbside service). We arrived at the restaurant about 15 minutes after ordering and continued to wait another 15 minutes since the app said our order was still being made. I decided to call the restaurant myself and after a struggled conversation with the gal on the phone, she informed me "uh yeah its been ready sitting here waiting for you". So my "hot" subs were cold, my time and money were wasted and only one of us ate our lunch.

Tasted great but the amount of meat on this medium can't be right. Didn't move the bag around enough for it to fall to that left side either. Tried to move that loose meat over to the empty side and it wasn't even close to being enough.

Came here to grab lunch for a coworker. Not too busy for the lunch hour. Really cute decor. The person running the register was nice but she was mumbling a bit making it difficult to communicate and order quickly. Only got 1 sandwich and felt like it took forever to get with 3 people working. Prices seemed reasonable, they have combo meals and kids meals-which come with a cute fire hat. Not much on menu if you are vegetarian or vegan, maybe a salad. But if you like meats and warm subs this is probably a good spot! Just make sure you arent in a hurry!

I love to support any place that gives back to their community, so when I forgot my lunch today, I knew Firehouse Subs (Clive location) was the place! I did the online rapid order letting me know my order would be ready at 1:05. I got there at 1:03 so I knew I'd have to wait a couple of minutes. When I walked in there were 3 women working. One with gloves, one with no gloves, and one with 1 glove. Gross! Thank goodness the gal with gloves on was handling my food (believe me, I watched closely!) as they didn't even start making it until I got there. They handed me my order and when I got back to the office I took my food out of the sack and was SO disappointed, that I got a cup of soup instead of the bowl I ordered, tomato on my sandwich that I had said 'no tomato' to, and no pickle. What I did have to eat tasted good, but extremely disappointing for a close to $10 lunch. I advise anyone eating there to first check the sanitary conditions of the workers (the facility itself was very clean), and then prior to leaving check your entire order.

Stopped by here one day when I was out rambling and seeing how far my scooter would go. I was SOOO hungry and stopped in here. Nice place...clean...slow service considering I was the only one there. Sandwich was great though.I like the bread with the outside tough crust and soft inside...and just right.Big sandwich..tasty.....I would give it a thumbs up IF I had a thumb!

Nice workers. Greeted and told thank you for coming..asked how everything was going etc..so they have that going for them. Restaurant was very clean and well kept..i got the turkey club medium sandwich. I made it into a meal..sandwich was warm and tasted good..only issue was final cost. Almost $11 for the meal..it was good but not $11 good. Turkey almost seemed like the thin sliced 25% water type slices you get in a pouch from Budding for $1..for $11 i would like to see roasted turkey sliced..so over all a nice experience minus the cost per value ratio..

I love firehouse subs. Today I decided to stop and get a quick dinner as the holidays are approaching and I have lots to do. I decided to get the spicy meatball sub. I love the meatball sub from firehouse subs the meatballs are always super tender and have a great flavor. Most places the meatball sub always seams dry and not like a traditional meatball. Firehouse has some very great meatball subs. I have had the spicy and the regular. I like the sweet heat that the spicy meatball gives. The bread is always soft and the cheese is always just the right kind of melty goodness. I always get the chips combo. I like the vinegar chips. The soda selection is always nice. I like getting the random flavors from the free style coke machine I never have to get the same thing twice. All in all another successful trip to firehouse subs. I will be back soon I'm sure.

Looking for a place for a late supper, we decided on subs. Not realizing the closing time was 9:00, we went in around 8:50. Usually the staff would be annoyed by this at most places, but they were super friendly. After we stated we were first-timers, the gal behind the counter basically walked us through the menu to help us decide. She was great! She practically knew the whole menu by heart. Once we ordered and sat down to wait for our food, we then realized it was closing time. We offered to have them just make it to go, but they were very gracious and said it was no problem at all for us to stay and eat. So we stayed. I had the turkey bacon ranch, and it was delicious. My fiancé had the brisket barbecue one, and he was pleased as well. I like that the subs are served warm, and the bread was nice and soft but not soggy. The price was average. It was a nice clean restaurant and there are even spots to sit outside. I liked it. I'm sure I'll be back.

Ordered pickup, a beef & cheddar with extra bbq sauce. When I got back to work, I realized there was no bbq. Very small meat portion. Service was fast though, so that's a positive. Unfortunately missing accuracy.

First being a fireman and a paramedic, I will admit a great deal of anticipation coming to this location. The meatball sub was just 'OK' nothing to be remarkable about. What did surprise me was the wait. I could have gotten faster service by ordering at a sit down place. From time of ordering to time of being served (at a sub place) was 35 minutes. 35 MINUTES!!! At noon on a Wednesday. Sorry, won't be back.

I had heard of this place from multiple people and decided to give it a try for lunch. The place was very clean and a little busy. My sandwich ended up being delicious, fresh, and hot as it was given to me. I ordered to-go and it was still in great shape when I got home. Will definitely come again!

Awesome customer service, Cheap and the sandwich I got was good. Also they have a bunch of hot sauces in a table which I think is amazing

I'm Old School from Chicago where bread is real BREAD. The bread enclosing my sub looked like the real thing but was limp and soggy in some places. Perhaps they should toast the inside before they fill it. That aside, the filling was good. I'll try Firehouse again because it is in my neighborhood but it might be hard to get excited about it. Perhaps I'll bring my own french bread! The employees were nice and friendly. I like the decor.

Stopped by here by chance and thought the sandwiches had a large portion of meat and was very tasty.

Have been twice and both times my sub was awesome! Service was ok, not stellar but still decent. Beats competitors, delivery and otherwise by FAR! If you haven't tried this place, do yourself a favor and grab one!

Bottom of the barrel workers who move at a snail's pace, unkept dining area, and only two people on staff handling orders for a restaurant full of people. There's nothing quick about this quick service restaurant and I will not be returning.

Friendly service. We were greeted with, "welcome to firehouse!" Right as we walked in the door. Nice friendly and thorough cashier asked if we have ever been there before, which we have. We frequent firehouse back home in Utah. We ordered our sandwiches to go. They were just as tasty as i remember. The only downside to the sandwich was my bread was soggie. Not sure if it was from how it was wrapped or prepared, but soggie buns are no bueno. We will be back though!

My go-to for a quick vegetarian sandwich. Plethora of hot sauces. Affordable, yummy. The employees always a joy to interact with, and the establishment is clean.

Come on firehouse. I like your subs but you need to train your new location employees better. The guy in front of me ordered a sub, no mayo. I did also. Only 2 of us in line. Both of us got subs with mayo. And get rid of the Coke machine with 100+ options. It broke and took the manager 30 min to fix it. Not good during lunch rush. I didn't want a drink with my food anyway I guess.

Still waiting on my food, been here for 15 min. and there is one other patron in here. Not a good first impression. Then I watched your two counter staff rolling silverware while eating subs in the middle of the dining area, this sort of grossed me out and made me question the cleanliness here. To boot my table was dirty and the napkin holder empty, not only on our table but the large majority of tables. Also not good for a place that's been open for only a few weeks. My food finally came and my sub was great, almost good enough to consider raising this review to two stars but your cashier just blew her nose into a napkin while seated at the table in front of me and continued to roll silverware, this was my final straw...

Food was actually pretty good but the service, oh my! The kids working there were nice enough but clearly had no idea what they were doing. It literally took them 20 minutes to make our subs and there were only 2 orders in front of us. Unacceptable! Probably won't go back. Hope they get some management in to help.

It was decent. Its like a better version of subway except you don't pick the toppings to put on your sandwich, they have about 12 sandwiches to pick from. I will probably go back again to see if there is a different sandwich that I might like more.
