Fireman Mike’s Opens in Lakeview - Eater New Orleans

"Fireman Mike’s Cafe and Sweet Shop will open on Harrison Avenue in Lakeview today in the small restaurant space that was previously Chap’s Chicken, reports Todd Price. Mike Gowland, known as “Fireman Mike” because he’s a retired firefighter, runs a Jazz Fest booth popular for its alligator sauce piquant. The new restaurant’s menu includes burgers and po-boys (meatloaf, cochon de lait, and more), plus rolled ice cream and other sweets. Opening hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily." - Stephanie Carter

Jazz Fest Fave ‘Fireman Mike’ Shifts His Restaurant Plans - Eater New Orleans

"Fireman Mike Gowland has changed the plans for his forthcoming Lakeview restaurant. Instead of the old Pizza NOLA space, he’ll open nearby in the former home of Chap’s Chicken. The menu has shifted from pizza and family-style platters to burgers, po-boys, 'lavishly dressed fries,' rolled ice cream, and dairy-free and sugar-free soft serve ice cream. It’ll open in May or June." - Stephanie Carter

Food is great, family is very friendly and they have rolled ice cream! The only thing I didn't like is when they clean the table, they use a spray that has a really strong chemical smell and it's a total appetite killer. Aside from that, perfect!

Literally the most friendliest people there. Oml like fr. I go their practically everyday to get a cats mocha milkshake. This is hands down my favorite place ever. They have the most creative little details on everything they make. And omg don’t get me started on the daily menu, it always has the best things and it makes you want to keep going. It’s always sooo welcoming just walking in their. I highly highly highly recommend it. Like legit HIGHLY. P.S. (Caramoca milkshake with scoop of peanut butter powder with gumbo or pig out fries is my personal favorite) -milkshake boy
