Great place with nothing to complain about! Love the bike racks in the front and looks great outside. Instead is night and cozy with great local art and lighting. We got our orders taken right away and the staff were very nice. It was super quick and our drink were ready in less then 5 minutes. We also got sandwiches. Those took a while longer but were very worth it because they were delicious!!! I would say stop here if you’re in the area!!

Love Fireroast Cafe! I used to live in this neighborhood and came frequently. Less so since moving to SW Mpls, but just met a Longfellow client here the other day, and was reminded by how much i like this place. It was snowing heavily when i arrived, and stepping in felt so good. Warm and cozy, the right kind of music for the moment, the decor and atmosphere are welcoming. The food is always good, they’re masterful with tea (a lot of coffee shops are lacking at this), and the space feels right. And the owner Jeff is a great dude too. I’ll make a renewed point to come anytime I’m in the area.

Inside there’s a good amount of seating and free WiFi to work. Everyone was so friendly and street parking was very easy to find. I’d love to come back and try their food and bakery items!

Excellent smooth, creamy all way thru (!!) hot latte, Rosemary White Choc Carmel Iced Latte balanced, not chemical-tasting, both depth of flavor no bitterness. Lots of food options all day -- waffles, too! Ambiance is welcoming, cozy not crowded, clean, lots of plants, natural light, seating options...non-accessible front entry, large, roomy patio (accessible entrance there?), easy parking, quiet streets. Highly recommend!!

Best coffee shop in the area. One of the only places that serves food and coffee. the wild rice soup and Rosemary chicken salad croissant are so good i haven’t tried anything else. The pumpkin spice latte is so freaking good it’s not too sweet. Also they always play amazing music. Cool local art and jewelry. Kind baristas. 10/10

Ugh - Went to this coffee shop for the first time since there was a little art fair set up in front biggest mistake. 1. The set up makes it hard to see the menu. 2. There were people in line who were ordering before me (including 2 kids). 3. The specialty lattes have no description on the board, you can see the ingredients only on the flyer in front of the cash register. Went up to order and asked the owner/cashier (won't say barista because I didn't see him making any drinks) what was in the Thai Coffee and Northshore Fog Tea Latte. He explained them thoroughly, however when I asked for the Northshore Fog iced, things went downhill. He snapped back that this drink couldn't be iced. Okay, I asked for a different recommendation and in a snippy tone (see the pattern?) he said "I recommend them ALL CAUSE THEY'RE ALL MY RECIPES". I asked if I could get a different tea latte iced at which point he snipped back (as if it's common knowledge, although it's not written anywhere on the menu) that none of the tea lattes could be iced. He then turned away from me and started doing something else with a barista. The other barista looked at me and looked confused because I was still placing my order but continued to do the task that was asked of them by the cashier. Eventually the cashier acknowledged me and I order a lemonade and iced herbal tea (not latte). The drinks were both bad - lemonade worse than the iced tea. Not sure what the cashier's problem is but once interacted with, the whole place feels unwelcoming. Won't be coming back, there are other coffee shops with nicer owners who won't snap when you ask for recommendations or an iced drink.

The sandwich was huge and filling. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked so good I wanted to try one of everything. The staff were so friendly and it was the perfect environment to get work done while also getting some sunshine from the bright windows in front! Free street parking out front and free wifi. Will 100% be back.

I was looking for a breakfast restaurant before my trip to Minnehaha Falls. Being a tourist in town, you only rely on Google maps and the reviewers' suggestions. This small spot caught my attention. We were greeted by a friendly face. I told her that we were new and didn't know their menu. She explained everything well. We ordered turkey paninis, their breakfast sandwich with chicken. They both were delicious. I highly recommend the turkey panini! Their cold brew was delicious and fresh. The environment was pretty cool. The owner, I assume, asked me if we liked the food and about our experience, which was nice. Good spot to get together with your friends in the morning for a chitchat over beverages and/or food.

Fire Roast Cafe is an absolute gem in Minneapolis! From the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff welcoming, and everything just feels right. If you are looking for a coffee shop with a great patio this is your spot! They even have a foosball table. It's also open late and they serve wine and beer so looks like a perfect stop for a summer evening. Inside the place is also quite nice a lot of different seating options and work spaces. The only thing missing in my book is a nice reading chair or two. Now to the most important part. The coffee. Their menu is large with a nice assortment of seasonal specials. I had an iced coffee which was perfect. Smooth and very drinkable. The only reason, I'm not giving 5 stars (for now but I'll be back) is I haven't tried the plain drip which for me is the key. This is a great coffee shop though.

Cute little neighborhood shop, the place is pretty small, but there are a decent amount of seats. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte and a pumpkin muffin both of which were delicious. The food came out fast and I took it to go.

Great study spot! I got the burrito with vegan cheese added on and it was great, not crazy expensive either. There is tons of free parking which I loved and the inside was very cute as well. I loved all the artwork they showcase inside as well that is available to purchase. It adds a very unique feel to the coffee shop, and I'll definitely be back to try some of their drinks.

This review needs an update. I love how this place flows now. Good rearranging on things and that new center table of live wood is just so much more inviting. I still love that you can sit by the windows and dogs have some treats on offer. But this morning, I had the rosemary and apricot scone. It was so good. I basically ate most of it while I waited from my hot chocolate. I'm always wary of getting a dried-out scone and this was fantastic. Perfect little breakoff nibble size pieces of a perfectly balanced scone.

This is my favorite coffee shop in the twin cities! The coffee and food is consistently good. I typically get the breakfast sandwich and a caramel latte either hot or iced based on the weather. The owner Jeff and his staff are super friendly and we always chat for a bit when coming in. The place is cozy and perfect for breakfast, lunch, working away from home, or just enjoying a cup with a book. Highly recommend!

Loved this coffee shop! The barista was so friendly, and my hazelnut latte was one of the best I've ever had. The breakfast burrito was so hearty and the breakfast sandwich was delicious. The inside is lively and cozy, and the outside is spacious and dog friendly!! I'll be back next time I'm in town!

We just moved in down the street... And I am so happy that I have a great coffee shop it's great food and great people nearby! Danny was super welcoming on my very first visit! I returned the next day and the people working there were just as nice.... And it was a nice atmosphere to work on writing and work!

Met fellow Yelper Philip N here for a late morning brunch. It's a cute space on the inside and a nice covered patio outside. Lots of great cafe options, both food and beverage. I had to skip dairy this particular visit (sad face), but was able to enjoy the turkey brie quesadilla. The cranberry chutney sauce on it was so yummy! I loved seeing the owner walking around, greeting guests and cleaning tables. He stopped by and chatted with us for a bit and you could tell he is invested in the community. Definitely will stop by again if I'm in the area.

I have lived in the neighborhood for thirty years and have watched the Fireroast cycle through three owners. Currently, the patio is beautiful and the food is usually good, but two out of three times that I go my food doesn't come. I've come to expect bad service, but the worst part about it is that when I inquire into my order the employees argue with me. They are really hostile. Today, one of the people in my party, who had already eaten and was ready to leave, told an employee that I should be reimbursed. The employee said no, they were busy and that's why they didn't make my food. (They didn't look busy.) Since the same thing happened exactly 10 days ago, and happens so often, I have made the hard decision to give up on the place. It's just not worth the belligerent employees. I just can't bring myself to keep showing up for food I know will not come unless I beg for it, and be stared down by two or three employees who ALWAYS insist that it is not their fault they didn't cook my order.

We went here for the first time today and it was so lovely! We had a chai, iced latte with their house made maple cardamom syrup, and their mango mimosa. All of the drinks were heavenly! Our food was delicious too. The service from everyone was incredibly friendly. We will DEFINITELY be back! Thank you!

Small, local, owner pours his heart and soul into this place and it shows! High quality crafted coffee and delicious bites including breakfast burritos, quesadillas, and waffles! Vibes are chill, great mix of young and old, good friendly conversations abound!

The baristas were so nice and the neighborhood coffee shop vibes were great. It's tucked away enough to feel very local and has a lot of street parking. The chai tea was made in house and was delicious. Not a lot of seating and it was packed during the afternoon on a Saturday but it was still possible to find a table. Very bright and would be the perfect spot to work from.

What an AMAZING spot!! I won't lie, I've lived up the street for 5 years and never stopped in and a little sad I've missed out. Super friendly staff, great options and good prices. I've stopped in last few days now and even met the owner Jeff (super nice guy!). The food I've tried is great including the breakfast sandwich, burrito and a few baked goods. Coffee is top notch. All around they have themselves another loyal customer (had about 3 regulars right behind me haha)

It's been nearly a decade since I've visited Fire roast. It still brings back good memories. The service is always great. The employees are down to earth. I ordered the oat meal. It was heart and tasty. I just wished I could have had a side of milk but I still enjoyed it. I'd recommend getting the sandwich with chorizo. The outdoor seating in the patio is very spacious and serene. I'd go here again when I'm looking for a peaceful and quite place to drink wine or coffee. It's a five star coffee/wine shop if you ask me.

I had a lovely brunch here a couple days ago with friends. From the outside, Fireroast looks like a quaint, modest, neighborhood cafe, but oh how there's so much more to it than that (2 rooms of seating, a patio area for seating, etc.) The owner was working the register/ ordering station and was warm, humorous, and attentive; after taking all our orders, he served a couple of the dishes to us that we had ordered and came back to check that we liked everything we got. I ordered a decaf pour over (served beautifully on a wooden platter with a carafe and mug), and burrito. The decaf pour over was so delicious! It was fruity and very bright/ bold in flavor; this was balanced out with the natural sweetness of the honey I added in. The burrito was just as tasty!! It was fresh and you could literally see the steam coming from it when I cut it in half. It was a very texturally unique dish with the juicy yet slightly zesty touch of salsa, and they offered 2 sauces for dipping on the side. This menu item would be a great choice for my friends with veggie diets as it didn't include meat, but instead used beans for the protein (kudos to the cafe for having veggie friendly options for folks that abide by that diet!) Everything was *very* reasonably priced and everyone at the table loved what they got! The environment of the cafe is very down-to-earth. My friends and I sat at the 'community table' in the front of the cafe and ended up chatting with other customers that came to sit at the same table. It's exactly what I'be dreamed of in a neighborhood cafe that's truly welcoming. If you haven't checked this place out, it's a must! Add it to your brunch list and take a friend, or drop by for a cup of coffee and make a friend at the cafe. This hidden gem is a 10/10 experience!

Amazing food, coffee and service. We've gone to this coffee shop since about 12yrs ago and it never dissapoints. It's not bougie, but is instead a family/neighborhood-minded place.

Neighborhood staple, always has great, quick, and friendly service. The espresso is pretty good the food is also pretty good! My go to is the goat cheese pesto sandwich which comes with a side of chips or carrots. The ambiance is cozy and they serve beer and maybe wine as well. In the summer they have Sebastian joes ice cream.

Preface: I have visited countless times. I've always felt Fireroast delivered a great value, especially for a local cafe.I've never felt strongly enough to leave a review however, until today where my wife and I were asked never to call again. This morning my wife suggested fireroast cafe for breakfast, and our 3-year old was excited too. I placed an online order while my wife was already out and about the the toddler, and saw the option for vegan cheese. We're allergic to dairy and gluten (celiac), and so are the kids at this point. Excited, I thought "sure, I'll try their vegan cheese, why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ " . I requested curbside pickup since the toddler was still barely clothed in pajamas, and getting a toddler in and out of a car rapidly can be a unique challenge. My wife arrived early due to their location and presumed she'd be waiting about 15 minutes for food to finish up. She called to let them know she *was* there whenever it was done, in case when it finished was the perfect time to run out. The employee who answered let her know that the food hadn't been started yet, and the owner had left the building to go get vegan cheese. She asked if he could just skip the cheese, but he said he was not allowed to start until the owner returned. The employee was also unable to give any estimate of when that would be. ***As I mentioned, we've eaten at the cafe and to-go numerous times for the last 5 years. Knowing nothing was started, that meant the wait would be a minimum of 20 minutes. Normally this is 100% acceptable wait time since this place *actually* prepares *real* food, but since we ordered to go and hadn't anticipated 20 minutes and longer waiting, the ticking timer that is a toddler waiting was already too close to the end. *** With this in mind, we requested the order be canceled and refunded (since it wasn't even started). The employee said he wasn't able to cancel the order and couldn't promise a refund. They also said the owner would call when he returned. An hour later, my wife called to follow up so we could confirm if they refunded & canceled the order. The owner answered and said she'd made him sad for showing up early and canceling the order. The owner proceeded to raise his voice, guilting her for canceling when "he went and got the cheese just for you" and how he "went through all this effort for you". Eventually my wife said that the conversation was making her uncomfortable and he then said she'd hurt his feelings! The call ended after a while of invalidating my wife's reasons for her call and feelings about the situation, with the owner eventually shouting "Fine! I never want you to come back here or call again." I thought surely there must a misunderstanding here and any business owner would be open to an adult conversation or feedback about their business or how this could have gone differently. If I were in his shoes, I would be made the food without cheese. Or offered to make it with cheese with a significant delay (still not sure why nothing would star until a finishing piece were on it but who knows, it doesn't matter that much). So I called the cafe back to inquire if a refund were going to be given or not (my wife said it didn't sound like it); and I wanted to clarify what happened from out point of view. The owner answered, asked what order I was calling about, then told me (with no chance for a word) he'd already refunded it and he told my wife never to call again. With that, he hung up. Ironically, what started as a happy discovery that one of our favorite cafes had vegan cheese suddenly turned into no breakfast, and no more cafe. I didn't make the owner offer something he didn't have, nor would anyone have been upset if they said "we're out of vegan cheese". If anything, the last two years have really made it the norm for something to be out of stock or different that expected. TO THE OWNER: I do hope you understand how you've hurt your reputation as a business in the community, on a personal and professional level. My wife and I have taken new clients to your cafe to eat and get coffee numerous times and we've enjoyed taking our very young children as well. I'm very sorry you're clearly going through something personal right now. Please be more kind to those around you. Customers, employees, family. I wish you luck getting the help you need.

If you like a boujee coffee place that is otherwise surrounded by residential housing, this is a good spot for you. It's pretty nice inside and out, and they make a decent cold brew.

Food: only had a tea but other people in my group had food. The portions were huge and friends raved about the quesadilla. Service: counter service and the line was long but worth the wait. Ambiance: they have a great covered patio with music, very casual and laid back.

Definitely recommend fire roast coffee. Usually get their iced chai with oat/almond milk and it is delicious. They have wonderful coffee as well as amazing pastries. The overall vibe of the joint is fun. I love how they have cool art pieces around the place. Most of the art is up for sale too so it's always changing. Overall love the place, super chill and has a calming energy to it. 5/5.

I was introduced to fire roast today by a friend and OMG! I will definitely be stopping by tomorrow and many many more times to come! The latte was perfect and so soothing on this cold snowy day!

Good place to go for coffee! I haven't been there for wine but I will definitely put it in my list of places to check out. Was looking for some coffee today while working. Drove to here but it had recently closed for the day. The owner was till on-site and was very kind and said he would get me and my coworker a coffee. Check it out, it's a good neighborhood place to support. I'll be back during normal business hours for sure.

Yummy breakfast foods, tasty coffee drinks, and lots of outdoor seating all help Fireroast earn high marks. With the pandemic still in full swing, we have been searching out places with outdoor seating, and Fireroast has a ton of it. We also really liked their breakfast foods; both their burritos and waffles were tasty. Their coffee isn't quite as tasty as some high end coffee roasters in the Cities, but it's still pretty good. Their staff is very friendly and on point with customer service too. Definitely worth a visit!

This is some top notch coffee. I love their house made syrups. The cookies and baked goods are also stellar.

I've had this place on my Yelp bucket list for some time. Like 2 years and counting. It's beautiful inside. Most of the staff was fabulous. Our java selections were just how espresso based coffee should be. My sweet sister and I rolled in an hour and some before closing. No big deal right? We were the only patrons on a Saturday night and the vibe was that they were cleaning up to close. I asked if they were about to close. Nope- not till nine (it was 7 something when we arrived). Perfect! I had a traditional decaf Macchiato and my sister had a decaf Cortado. It couldn't have been more perfect...except after we sat down. The drinks were great, the atmosphere beautiful, the sexy sweet, gentle soul barista served with a smile...then out of nowhere came a gal that started to spray all the tables around us with bleach (over half hour before closing). She then proceeded to stomp off to "clean" the bathroom that was close by. And then Vacuum under all the tables around us. She seemed angry and obviously very giddy about getting her stuff done (I don't blame her- it's Saturday night). It kind of ruined our relaxing, end of the day ambiance we had going there. If it hadn't been for the bleach bombardment and feeling the energy that we needed to leave quickly- it would have easily been a 5 Star coffee shop experience for me. I'll try them again someday...just not anywhere near closing time.

I was pleasantly surprised by their large drink menu selection. And I have cheap mimosas! I only ordered drinks at this venue, but they do have food. both of the employees that I talk to or friendly! The atmosphere of the place is what I would describe as business casual. Bar style seating, Booth seating, and table seating. Modern cozy, but not modern in that oversaturation of different colors type of way. it's unfortunate that there's a step there that makes it inaccessible to some disabled people, and the space is kind of narrow to navigate for other types of disabled people.

Where can you sit in a coffee shop & hear the server welcome a patron by name & then ask how he's doing, then listen to the answer? I want to live in this neighborhood & frequent Fireroast! The coffee is just what I needed this am-hot, delicious and tasting like coffee & not the flavor-of-the-month. My fav hearty breakfast is oatmeal, and I can get pretty picky about it. They actually MADE the steel-cut oatmeal & offered 2 free sides to it. Usually it's sugar and raisins, but au contraire NOT HERE! I chose sliced bananas and yogurt and I'm not sorry. The oatmeal was crunchy good with the pairing of yogurt & sweet bananas.

All around excellent. Incredibly difficult to decide what to eat or drink because everything is great! The pace there is leisurely, but everyone there is so kind! It's well worth the wait.

At 9am on a Saturday, this was the perfect spot to sit and catch up on some reading with a delicious breakfast sandwich and americano. Also, the espresso brownie bite was phenomenal and rich. The atmosphere was relaxing and prices typical of what you'd expect for a full menu coffee shop.

I hadn't been to this location for a few years. It used to be a nice cozy ,funky spot with a limited menu. It has had a makeover and the funkiness is gone but it is still cozy,very friendly and has a great menu. It has new furnishings and lights and has undergone a cleanup. The coffee is good. I had a perfect Americano. The mushroom quesadilla was tasty. The salsa that came with it was really wonderful, I wonder if they made it in-house. The two-person staff was very busy but very friendly. The man at the counter went out to shovel when he saw an elderly couple approaching the door. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the space. I will definitely return

I visited on 1/2/23. I had a very long wait to order, about 20 -25 minutes, even though only 3 people were in line in front of me. From what I could tell there were only two people working, one person cooking and delivering food, and one person taking orders and making and handing out coffee/drinks. Nobody was cleaning tables. There should be at least another person working. The breakfast menu is a bit deceiving. Unknowingly, the price for the burrito doesn't include meat, so when the guy asked me if I wanted bacon I didn't know answering yes, would increase the cost of my food by many dollars. After ordering, waiting a long time for my food, I was looking at the lunch menu and it was over on that menu that it talks about an up charge for meat. This needs to be more obvious on the breakfast menu as well. And the clerk should make sure the customer understands this at the time of ordering. The burrito was nothing special. You'll have a much better breakfast burrito at pretty much and Mexican restaurant that serves breakfast.

I live downtown but will drive to Fireroast when I need an espresso fix. First, it is important to me to support local businesses. I love the fact that FR uses Fair Trade coffees that are in my opinion, better than big box companies. Owner Jeff and his staff are fantastic. This place is my favorite brunch spot. Their prices are a bit on the more expensive side but it is so worth it. I've been here twice and both times had me so full and happy I decided to go. I got the fireroast quesadilla and added chicken (it was amazing). I also got their wild rice soup (also amazing). I recommend you try both because you won't regret it.

I drove across town to explore this coffee shop today. I was excited but unfortunately left with a bad experience. I tried to use my Craft Notes Passport and they would not honor it. They also spoke very poorly to me of their partnership. I was shocked and annoyed. The way they treated me as a guest and the way they spoke of Craft Notes was immature and bad business.

What a marvelous find this place was. Living across the river in nearby Highland Park, I like to make weekend excursions to the Nokomis neighborhood where this is located and was curious to try this unassuming, small shop. The location is what appears to have been a residence, so it's small. But it's brimming with art and crafts(for sale) and an eclectic, independent vibe. Seating is at a premium due to the small space, but if you can get it it's worth it. The coffee was quite good(they have a full array of espresso beverages and coffees), but the food is what really surprised me in the best way. I've grown extremely skeptical of coffeeshop food, but Fireroast defied my expectations with a lunch salad on par with a good "sit down" restaurant. I understand that there are DFL functions held here from the other reviews, but I won't hold that against them. This spot makes a great pairing with the nearby Riverside Theater or anywhere in nearby Longfellow or Nokomis.

Love this little cafe and lunch spot. My sister recommended it touting some of the best wild rice soup around. Now, that is a bold claim, so of course this had to be researched extensively. I was always amazed living on the west coast that no one knew what wild rice is-how sad... Anyway, sister was pretty spot on. They have a fantastic wild rice soup! Paired with a half a chicken salad sandwich it makes the perfect sized delicious lunch. They also carry paninis and quesadillas, a variety of pastries and cookies, and some delicious local ice cream. Sadly I've given up coffee, so can't speak to the quality of their brew and beans, but they do carry a yummy house mulled apple cider. The cafe doesn't have good seating for more than three people, so if you come with a group plan to get creative with seating. Local artists work is displayed on the walls and is rotated regularly because it's pretty amazing pieces. Don't miss this spot when in the neighborhood.
