"For an ackee and saltfish breakfast that doesn’t skim on the cod, hit Fireside Jamaica. With three locations, this cafeteria-style Bouldercrest stop (in a gas station shopping center) always stacks us with a portion so big we have to steady our styrofoam container with two hands. Topped with sides like steaming hot festivals and boiled dumplings the size of discus weights, consider it your workout for the day. The ackee sells out fast on weekends, but you’ll find all the other Jamaican food favorites on the service line. For extra kicks, this location is also a likely spot to catch the Magic Man of Bouldercrest (IYKYK)." - Nina Reeder

Google
I recently dined at Fireside Jamaican restaurant and was extremely disappointed with the experience. I ordered the oxtails, which is one of their signature dishes, only to find out that they were meatless! I was shocked and appalled that they would serve a dish without the main ingredient and still charge exorbitant prices. Not only was the lack of meat in the oxtails a major letdown, but the overall quality of the food was subpar. The flavor was bland, the rice was undercooked, and the portions were small. It felt like a complete rip-off considering the high prices they were charging. I expected authentic Jamaican cuisine with bold flavors and hearty portions, but instead, I got a disappointing and expensive meal. I will not be returning to Fireside Jamaican restaurant and will be sure to warn others about their deceitful practices.

Google
I visit fire side frequently for their jerk chicken & wings . I also get the rice with broccoli & cheese when it's available. Some days or better than others with the freshness of the food but overall it's good !

Google
I just purchased a curry chicken dinner and the rice was too hard and dry to eat. This is the first time I experienced this with them. Food is too high for poor quality. Let's work on that 80 health score also.

Google
I absolutely love oxtails so I figured I'd give them a shot. Welp this is definitely a one and done. They looked amazing however they lacked that bold deep heavy flavoring associated with oxtails. They were a little undercooked, could have used at least another hour or 2. Gravy had no depth, rice and beans were super dry and very bland. Cabbage was super hard too. I hate to knock anyone for their hustle but those tails weren't worth the stop or the money. I would not recommend them.

Google
Purchased 2 meals last night the food was awful and the attitudes of the staff preparing the meals was just as bad. The brown stewed chicken and salmon portions were very small for $13/$14 and the salmon was dried out, mixed vegetables were mushy/bland, and the brown stewed gravy had no flavour! Also, we didn’t get plantains! And when we questioned the portion size, if looks and rolling of the eyes could kill …we’d be dead. I’ve eaten here several times and this by far is the worst! It will be going in the trash!!! If I would go back and ask about a refund…what is that??? I would be ran out of the place. A waste of $30 and in this day and time with inflation/shrinkflation! Shame on you Fireside. You won’t get anymore of my hard earned $$!

Google
I ordered a salt fish breakfast early Monday morning to start my week off right, but got food poisoning instead! The food was palatable going down, but it was not fresh and I suspect it was bad leftovers! I am extremely disappointed because used to come to this location all the time, but never again. Knowingly compromising food quality is a disservice to our community!

Google
Open counter style traditional Jamaican restaurant located in a small shopping center. I have eaten here several times and food is consistently good with decent sized portions for the price. They don’t always have everything listed on the menu but my favorite dishes here are the oxtail, brown stew chicken and stew beef. Service is just ok, it’s definitely best to just take your food to go because the atmosphere isn’t well suited for dining in.

Google
I will NEVER order from this place again! Not only did they charge me for food I never received but the chicken was undercooked and they must can’t READ because cabbage is not vegetables!! Sad part is I’m new to Georgia and was shopping around looking for a restaurant to cater my Caribbean themed birthday party and this place SURELY isn’t it

Thelisa W.

Yelp
Someone told me about this Jamaican restaurant the oxtails are good and the rice and peas and they put enough gravy they have decent customer service more so than not and that's why I continue to go.

Mathedel D.

Yelp
No were in Augusta, serve Ackee & Saltfish. So when I come to Atlanta, I look forward to coming to Fireside. They do not disappoint. The helpings were plentiful. I shared with my Mom.

Kay N.

Yelp
Stopped by Fireside Jamaican on a Friday at 2 pm. There was about a 15-minute wait, but the food was worth it. The restaurant was clean. Honestly, the best oxtail plate I've had in and near Atlanta. The oxtails (medium plate) were tender and full of flavor. As soon as I got home, I devoured the entire plate in one sitting within 20 minutes. Will definitely be back!

Antwynette R.

Yelp
I could not decide what to order, they have so many great options! I decided on the medium-sized salmon with cabbage, rice, and peas. The cabbage wasn't too soggy and had a slight crunch. The sauce on the salmon was a tomato base and amazing with grilled onions and peppers. The quality of food and the amount was definitely worth the price! The lady put more sauce on the rice and peas, which made it delicious! I can't wait to go back to try some other dishes.

Yelp
When you want good curry or a patty and you get this !! Horrible.. bouldercrest need better food and kinder people for the area.. They all have nasty energy to go with meh cooked food... HOPE THEY CLOSE SOON AND MAYBE WE CAN GET A VEGAN OR A JJ FISH....place wasn't dirty..bit 2 have 4 people in entire place and you angry

Raven C.

Yelp
I ordered a large oxtail -$26. All I asked was for them to put the rice that COMES WITH THE MEAL in a separate container. These MFS gonna tell me $7...... Seriously? And no I didn't get it but this will be my last time here at this or any other fireside ... Then she got mad at me for getting mad . Smh

Ghanaian G.

Yelp
Ive been to Atlanta a few times but not on this side of town. Let me tell you I was not disappointed! I got the ackee and saltfish, callaloo and dumplings! Price was decent and my styrofrom was heavy, that's all I ask! I will definitely come back again!

Jenn C.

Yelp
Took a lunch break while getting my hair done. Looked up places near me and thank goodness a Jamaican place popped up. Arrive and I was the only American customer. Great sign. Everyone was a native do therefore the food must taste like home. I ordered oxtail, rice and peas, and cabbage. The rice was delicious and the cabbage as well. The oxtails were tender as can be but the seasoning was surprisingly lacking. The sauce looked thick and rich but it didn't wow me. I should've ordered what the 5 others before ordered. Stewed chicken or jerk chicken I will eat here again when I go back to have my follow hair appointment and try those.

Mar M.

Yelp
Food isn't as good as the Caribbean spot in Stockbridge next to the juicy crab they give better serving sizes more sides and better service for the same price plus they oxtails are way bigger I got large plate and got these tiny ass

Christian H.

Yelp
The food is not very good, there was hair inside of my rice. The meat was uncooked. The oxtails was too hard I broke my tooth.

MikeyLato L.

Yelp
The customer service was decent Maybe I came late during the night but most of the food was gone I had rice and peas w/ oxtail gravy I had salmon and THE SALMON was a disappointment Unforgettable experience// not in a good way But it was decent

Kaye D.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Customer Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 I enjoyed my visit to Fireside! I ordered Jerk Chicken & Curry Chicken with Cabbage, Rice & Peas and Mac n Cheese! Everything was delicious! Seasoned to Perfection and the Mac n Cheese was so cheesy! Customer Service was awesome as well! The owner was there and greeted every customer upon arrival! Fireside has three locations across Atlanta, be sure to check them out!! Follow @iLoveFood_ATL on all social media platforms for Tasty Content

Ayanna S.

Yelp
I come here often and each time I try to give another chance. There's always hair in my curry goat! This time brown hair

Evelin C.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE. The food had absolutely no flavor. Had to add hot sauce to get it to taste like something and it ended up being so spicy. Had a stomachache for 3 days after eating at this place. 0/10 recommend.

Karen G.

Yelp
Had to run an errand in the area and also needed to fix my craving for Jamaican Breakfast. I called ahead to place an order and was told no phone orders. I begged and the employee agreed to hold only the Small Porridge for me. By the time I found the place there was a long line! I was so glad I asked to hold the porridge because I got the last order. Pros: They are open early They offer both fries & boiled dumpling They offer salt fish & butterbeans for those who don't like ackee The Porridge was delicious The portions were good The gentleman that served us was very kind and professional and even entertained our suggestions to add lentil soup for vegans The gospel station was playing which set the mood Service was very good Cons: There was too much baking soda in the dumpling The ackee was not in whole pieces The salt fish was salty Service was slow only because there was one guy doing it all The plates are priced by item vs size We will definitely visit again!

SawcedUpKay ..

Yelp
Food and service both FIREEEE! Had the curry goat and it was amazing! will definitely be coming back here to grab a plate anytime i'm in the city.

Angela H.

Yelp
Great customer service, great timing, great food and selections. I friend of mine highly suggested Fireside Jamaican while here in town. I ordered the ox tails with beans and rice (extra gravy), cabbage and plantains to go. The food is served buffet style here and there's minimal seating inside. The food was tasty and fulfilling too might I add! Seasonings we're delish and oxtails we're tender, mmmm! Plantains weren't overcooked so I'm sure these people know what they're doing here! I see why they have great reviews...they've got 5 stars from me! Yummy!

D. K. C.

Yelp
One Word: AMAZING! Everything on the line is amazing. I drive all the way from the Westside to eat here. I am addicted to the Rice and Peas Mac N Cheese Cabbage If you are in the mood for some true Jamaican food, you must stop by. The service is friendly. The establishment is very clean. The portions are perfect. Pricing is cost effective. Get you some!

La'Shaun J.

Yelp
So, I purchased the side of the oxtails for $20.00 after taxes. They were so tough. Appeared as if they rushed/pressure cooked them. I called and made them aware of it. The guy said, "Oh, OK, sorry about that." Really? There was no attempt to make it good--nothing. I'm good!

Phillip C.

Yelp
Poor service typically Jamaican attitude from the guys that work there. They was out of chicken .Subpar curry . Over priced for the large tray was $22 an less then half lb of chicken , typical over loaded with rice . I've had better for cheaper

Jay B.

Yelp
They didn't have the cow foot soup i asked for that day, but accommodated by giving me goat soup for free. I really appreciate that.

Nifty N.

Yelp
Just moved to the area and I was hunting for a spot to get some Saturday soup and this is it. Not only was it Manish wata (my favorite), it was full of meat, carrot, cho cho, finger dumplin, and nuff flavor. I got the large for $8.50 and after pouring a full bowl still had plenty left. There was a line but the two women at the front were attentive and quick. They had masks and it was not difficult to hear them. Can't wait to go back for some breakfast!

A H.

Yelp
Their food is very delicious and filling! They're always quite generous with portions, so it's worth the price (which depends on what size plate you order). It's a little place adjacent to a fuel station, so parking is very limited at times. And they are OFTEN crowded. That tells you how good their food is! :)

Rashad J.

Yelp
This place has horrible service..Ordered for pick up online and got to the location at the time it stated just for me to get there for no food for my order..Charged me $60 online, the staff was rude and didn't want to accommodate in no way..Rude workers told me they can't do anything for me so I lost my money I spent and ended up with no food ..Never supporting this business ever again!!! If I could give 0 stars I would

Judith T.

Yelp
Easy to find. Affordable and absolutely delicious food! Highly recommend this restaurant. There is no seating due to Covid but service was quick and organized.

Theondra P.

Yelp
Please don't waste your money. The chicken in 3 different dishes was dry, like chunks of cardboard and the cabbage was super under cooked and it wasn't even cabbage it was a coleslaw medley

Nneka S.

Yelp
Food is hit or miss...mostly miss. Rice might not be fully cooked, over-salted stew peas, more fat than meat (oxtail and stew beef). The service staff is ALWAYS a miss, not to mention rude, unwelcoming, and not in the mood to give any useful information (like they are out of a particular menu item). They throw the food on the plate like they are dashing away their last bit of hopes and dreams. No customer service skills and they don't even try. Go if you must but be prepared to be annoyed and possibly disappointed once you try to chew that undercooked, dry a** rice.

Daniel P.

Yelp
Paid almost $16 dollars for this medium-sized salmon plate, and this is what i got. For the money, I expected more, and the amount of food I got was ridiculous. Haven't been here in a while because prices keep going up while the portions get smaller and smaller. I definitely wont be back.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
I looked this place up at the recommendation of a Jamaican coworker. Upon seeing that it was in the same building as a gas station, I knew it would be an instant winner. I came here with a friend, and I got the oxtail, along with rice and cabbage. All of it was really tasty. Lots of flavor and good quality. I'd recommend trying the oxtail if you have never tried it. My friend got the jerk chicken. He liked it a lot, but be warned - it's got a lot of heat! It's hot bar style, so everything is ready to eat. They also give you a lot of food for money you pay. Bang for the buck is very important in my book! Overall really great place. I'd be a regular if I lived around here. Unique food, great flavor, high quality, lots of it, good price, so 5 stars.

Shantai S.

Yelp
Was skeptical about this spot, being in a gas station and all, but AMAZING. Fast service and delicious cuisine. Exactly what I'm used to back home in NY.

Syreeta C.

Yelp
I ordered the curry shrimp, peas and rice with cabbage.. all I can say it gave what it was supposed to.. Food was delicious.

Lashanda H.

Yelp
Idk what's happening (staff, management, food supply) but this food used to be good. Over the past few months the quality has decreased tremendously. On top of that, the prices increased! Like seriously!

Andrew K.

Yelp
I've been driving by this restaurant for months. And I finally got the opportunity to try it. It was well worth the wait. The jerk chicken and peas and rice was really good. The cabbage undercooked for my taste, but all things considered, I won't hold it against them. Looking forward to coming back to try some other menu items.

Anissa M.

Yelp
I've been here a few times so I'm struggling with the rating. Typically, I order the curry chicken and it's GREAT with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. The other day I decided to venture out and get the fried chicken with the same sides, I was not impressed. The chicken was very dried out. All in all, in the future -- I'll stick to what I know.

Renee L.

Yelp
I am on day 2 back to back eating from this place. First off the OXTAILS ...yes they deserve caps all caps. So So I say, so great in flavor..tender..its the love we all been looking for in life. The cabbage so crunchy and flavorful I really liked the cabbage like it has a cumin kinna hint of flavor..the rice and beans alone will fill you up with some of that OXTAIL juice...honey boom! So today I have curry goat..OXTAILS..peas and more red beans and rice. I have never had goat..so let me try real quick. (Hold please) ok so the CURRY GOAT (all caps) yes very yummy and tender light but present curry flavor. The peas with yams are PEAS W/ YAMS I repeat are . I am very very Very happy that I got a chance to try Jamaican food finally. Now the pictures.

Cam H.

Yelp
Great Jamaican food!!! This is a hidden gem! Attached to a gas station, with all of your FAV Jamaican taste! The customer service is good, parking is good. . But beware that the food is SO good they tend to sell out!! The oxtails are my go to!

Shay T.

Yelp
I'm from New York & I swear NYC has the Best Jamaican food ever!!! But for Georgia this is good ass Jamaican Restaurant! The best I've had out here so far and they sell breakfast. I had the porridge and Ackey and salt fish. The porridge was sweet & tasty. I ate my Ackey and salt fish with dumplings, so yummy. They give big portions! I drove 25 mins for my food & I definitely was Not disappointed. Good job Fireside!!

Norman M.

Yelp
Authentic Jamaican cuisine Good choices of sides Good atmosphere Easy to find Ggggg

Slim R.

Yelp
There's this chick with the pink hair who works on Sunday evenings .. Her attitude is horrible !! I went to Their website and wrote a review aboit her and there were several revoe made about her going far back as 6 months .. Why is she still working there is my question.. She is very rude and should not be dealing with the public .. I refuse to go back !!

Adriane J.

Yelp
I Love the one on Covington hey not so much the one on bouldercrest rd the food doesn't taste the same

Koya T.

Yelp
Oxtails were TOUGH & Lack of seasoning!!! Waste of My money ‍ -My first time trying...Def LAST*

Kelli W.

Yelp
Located right off of Bouldercrest Rd off I-285. It's next to a gas station that I think is either remodeling or closed for good. So there is a private lot but when the gas station was open, parking spots were scarce. I've visited several times and I'm never impressed by their food or service. It's really just convenient and open late lol. The menu is in super small writing so it's always hard to see and read. We got the stew chicken with yellow rice and oxtails. It takes forever to order and pay and the staff are definitely not welcoming or friendly. The food was decent....just nowhere near my top Jamaican spot. I wouldn't recommend based on food and service quality. Like I said nothing special and nothing I like about the place. When you order your food, they don't smile at you or greet you, it's all so nonchalant The cashier is probably the worst but I digress.

Monique J.

Yelp
Feeling like Jamaican tonight, being that I was only minutes away I decide to get my fix at Fireside Jamaican. I have eaten here before and as usually they did not disappoint. The restaurant is set up buffet style with all foods laid out behind a glass(so no nasty breathing over by customer...lol), and you are served by the employees. Tonight I had the rice and peas with cabbage topic with curry and jerk sauce. However in the past I've had their jerk chicken and oxtail. For the test on if a Jamaican spot is the truth is if they can make oxtails, this place definitely passed with flying colors. As I baby vegan I'm limited to only the sides but no fret here they are so tasty that who needs poultry. I was informed today that they have a vegan approved vegetable soup, which I'll have to try on my next visit.

Lanie G.

Yelp
Great spot. Delicious food! I would definitely go back. Support small businesses! Especially these days.

Gus G.

Yelp
The best Jamaican food I've had in Atlanta by far. The jerk chicken and jerk wings were really good. Authentic jerk seasoning rice and peas was great , and their soups are so good When I got there around 10:30 there was a line out the door. The ultimate sign of good food !

Ramanda D.

Yelp
Food was good and the portion size is good for two. The price is also right.I got ox tails, cabbage, and rice. I also got a beef patty. They have a variety of Jamaican drinks and desserts also.I felt like I was eating in Jamaica.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Food is good and prices are decent BUT they should try smiling at customers and greeting them and turn the dam music down, this is a restaurant not a club. I can't even hear the tv that is on.

Chrishawn W.

Yelp
Awesome Jamaican food the curry shrimp is the move! Everything is always fresh when I go there if you get the jerk chicken the lg is almost like a 1/2 chicken

Joshua R.

Yelp
I went when you hey were refreshing the food. I end up getting what they had put out earlier an it wasn't bad but I've had better. Maybe if I got what they were putting out before I paid would be a different story. Although you gotta be consistent all the way through decent spot.
