Fireside Tavern Sherborn

The restaurant was absolutely amazing and such a pleasure to go to. The food was top-notch in the service was even better. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a casual date, a business meeting, a place to go out for the evening, or just to simply grab a bite to eat. I’m from South Carolina and I would travel all the way up there just for another bite, it’s that good!

This hidden gem is Sherborn is the perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The bar lounge has a great vibe - perfect for gathering with friends or a fun date night. The drink menu is extensive - the sangria tops my list. You must have the cornbread app and the fish dishes are divine. The staff always makes you feel at home. They may even sing Happy Birthday to special guests!

My husband and I were there for Valentines Day We ordered the specials My husband had the Sole with a veloute sauce. The veloute sauce was thick and pasty, when it should have been lighter than a gravy. My filet mignon was sitting on a mushroom gravy which was also thick and glutinous. The fish and filet were both excellent but the sauces were a major disappointment. We loved the bambam shrimp. We will try again and maybe just order from the regular menu

First time here. Cozy, small-town vibe and a solid neighborhood bar/restaurant. Nothing flashy, but comfortable. Service at the bar started out great. Unfortunately, while we were having cocktails, a cockroach crawled right in front of us and the bartenders. They apologized, and we moved on. These things happen. A few minutes later, just before our food arrived, another one passed by. This time the bartender apologized profusely and told us (multiple times) that our meal would be comped, and later also offered dessert on the house. When the bill came, only the dessert was comped. When I politely mentioned what we’d been told, the waitress gave us attitude and then comped the meal, but removed the dessert comp. Money wasn’t the issue. It was the inconsistency and the way it was handled. A simple follow through would have turned this into a minor hiccup. Instead, it felt amateur.

I couldn't wait to try this place out and I'm glad I did! We sat on the bar side dining room. Two TVs and a touch loud but a beautiful room. Caroline was our server and she was wicked nice! She also knew her menu. For apps, we ordered bbq chicken wings, potato skins, and cauliflower. All the apps were amazing! The cauliflower one was incredible!!! For dinner I got fish and chips. The breading on the fish was delicious and the fries were also good. Also came with coleslaw. I don't eat coleslaw. My wife got the burger and she said it was incredible! Our friend got the vegetable pasta and that was also amazing. For dessert, we split a cheesecake and carrot cake. Both were amazing! Prices are more than fair for the portions you get, the service, and the ambiance! I would highly recommend this place and I will be back! Remember to ask for Caroline and tell her Tiger sent you!

I enjoyed a great meal and experience at The Fireside Tavern with family tonight. The food was amazing and our server, Kendra, was the best. She gave great food recommendations and service. So happy to try this restaurant for the first time. Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely brunch at Fireside Tavern, just a little over 30 minutes from Worcester. I enjoyed the Taverm Bloody Mary with all of the fixings. I had the mushroom omlette adding chorizo sausage, and he had the brunch burger. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the service was great. I also loved the bathroom cat decor. All and all absolutely worth the ride, we'll be back again!

It was our first time there and as we walked in, my husband declared that it was going to be our new fav restaurant. Everything was great- food, atmosphere, an amazing old fashioned. Our server Jenna was amazing- well informed, attentive, efficient, lovely. We shared two main courses and she had the kitchen split everything so we didn’t have to deal with cutting and moving food around. No one does that and we were so appreciative.we will be back for sure.

I'm eating leftover lobster and beet salad at 8am in my hotel room after a company dinner I booked here last night. Easy to book via phone call, they also took our preferences for where to sit and managed a large party well. Everything we ate was amazing--the cornbread is perfect and the lamb lollipops were excellent too. $432 + tip for 8 people dinner and drinks with 5 shared apps was solid. Decor really elegant inside. Cannot recommend more highly on value, service and quality.

Needs an experienced bartender. Ordered a maple old fashion and boulevardier (Negroni with bourbon instead of gin; which I had to explain to the waitress). What came back was neither of these. The old fashioned was nothing short of straight bourbon. So was the boulevardier, no Campari nor sweet vermouth, just bourbon and a cherry, which isn't supposed to be in there. These are easy drinks to make. No excuses here. Nearly $40 between these two drinks. Unacceptable. Ordered steak frites (rare) and had a cold steak delivered with cold fries. Asked them to heat it, they took it back to the kitchen, and it came back barely warm. Steak was cooked rare but far from tender and very chewy. For $38 dollars, I expect something far far better. Really disappointing.

Another great dining experience, with a friendly, attentive waitress. Loved my Chinese chicken salad & blackberry spritz. I love that you can still eat reasonably healthy here while fellow diners can indulge. We also split the shrimp cocktail. Ended up painting a room downstairs a similar color to that in this room. Loved the vibe...seems like a great space to host an event. There was a private event going on in the small fireside colonial room. I hope to visit there next time.

This is the exactly the kind of place you want in New England. The Fireside Tavern Sherborn balances the historic with the modern. The sizeable interior includes more than one dining room and an entirely separate bar area. There is also outdoor tent seating, which may only be in the warm weather. You might remember this location as the old Sherborn Inn (a long time ago), but it's been reborn. Forget everything you knew about the past establishment, this place has a new life. The staff is awesome. They are attentive and well trained. The kitchen staff is knocking out a lot of great comfort food. Steaks, fish and chips, and a variety of handheld sandwiches. Most of the seafood seems to be locally sourced form Captain Marden's in Wellesley. The food is delicious and well prepared. I highly recommend the chicken sandwich with caramelized onions and Vermont cheddar on foccacia bread. I made it disappear very quickly. So good! Tuna tartare app was divine. Maybe not a traditional comfort food for New England, but I'm not complaining. It's nice to have variety. The chef delivered a dish I would come back for again and again. There's so much to try. I regret not getting the fish and chips, after later seeing pictures. The Ribeye was awesome though, cooked to perfection with mashed and asparagus. Don't forget dessert as well! Every little detail here is accounted for. You can tell the owner and staff are breathing new life into this location and it shows. With a full bar and variety of wines and mocktails, you will find something you love. Overall: You MUST visit this place for your comfort food fix!

I absolutely love fireside!! They have a great menu, super fresh ingredients, homemade sauces, and great cocktails! The service is great - the staff are some of the nicest people around! It's such a cute spot - with a more laid back pub side and a more formal dining room on another side. It's such a great addition to the area!

The food was fantastic! Service was very good. I chose the lounge because it was supposed to be quieter. It's really not. Very, very busy on a Saturday night. I love how cozy the rooms are. We had cocktails (French 75) a very nice French Chardonnay, swordfish and halibut. The food and drinks were excellent. Decent prices as well. Well worth it!

Thanksgiving dinner was delicious & prepared carefully. Turkey was not dry, gravy perfect, mashed potatoes were fluffy , green beans cooked perfectly. Stuffing was simple and perfect for us. Highly recommend this restaurant!! More than Worth every penny!

I was greeted by the host, and was seated immediately. I ordered a Mac and cheese and fries. Delicious! My dad got a burger and their logo was printed on it! The vibe was dark tavern but winter time. There were lots of fire places, so don't worry about being cold. And always make a reservation on Saturday night.

We had some family members in from Germany. We sat in the tavern & our server was Kendra. We had an amazing meal. Two of us had halibut. Our guests from Germany had short ribs. Everything was top-notch. It was cozy and our server was attentive. I would highly recommend the fireside Tavern and I will be returning!! Kendra was the best!!

Based on what we were told a friend and I took a half hour drive out to Sherborn to try the fireside Tavern. We each had an espresso martini, which was amazing. then we opted to just share appetizers. The calamari was absolutely divine potato skins were delicious. The Caprese salad was very, very good. And with side salads, it was just a perfect amount of food. Definitely try their ranch dressing. It is yummy. And I cannot end this review without mentioning our waitress Pam. She was so pleasant and we enjoyed how she interacted with all of her customers around the dining room room very top-notch waitress.

Following up with owner Laura regarding a previous review. Thank you for your input regarding our experience several months ago. The explanation regarding your online reservation system was helpful. Please note, I Never received any email , at any point in time regarding our reservation. A lengthy scroll through my email with your hostess confirmed that particular point. And please don't imply that the email was delivered. It was not..I am an honest person. The only call I received as plainly seen by your brother/ manager was indeed 1:49 pm day of the Reservation. He was leaning over me reviewing my messages. That made me incredibly uncomfortable. His physical presence was way too close to me. Rather intimidating. Outdoor diners adjacent to our table had long since left by the time your manager/ brother arrived. We had the patio to ourselves for half of our evening. Please accept the fact that errors occurred. It's ok. In the moment for us, frustrating and chilly...I'm glad you are trying to resolve your end of things. Best to you.

We celebrated my girlfriend's 70th birthday at Fireside Tavern in Sherborn last night, and it was a great success. The private dining room was set up perfectly for our party of 25. The food, drinks, and service were excellent. Our two young waiters were attentive and professional, and the owner stepped in to help when needed, which made the entire experience truly wonderful. We had a reservation for 4 and arrived 15 minutes early. The restaurant was busy and we noticed a few larger parties. Not sure where to place the blame but the service and food/drink delivery throughout our time there was very slow. We were seated for 15 minutes before placing our drink orders and after that, to receive appetizers and dinner took what seemed like forever. We did not stay for coffee or dessert as it was an hour and a half to get through dinner. I believe the waitress and/or kitchen were overwhelmed by the larger parties, and therefore, it is the fault of management for overbooking given the support staff they had in place for the evening. Adding to this was a toddler who was constantly running between the tables. This is on the child's parents, not the restaurant. The atmosphere was loud and not conducive to enjoying a meal. We will not be back.

My husband and I chose Fireside Tavern Sherborn to host the rehearsal dinner for my son and his fiancee. We had a stellar experience working with Laura. I was planning the event from California, and Laura answered emails promptly, she was easy to work with, listened to our ideas and helped us stay within our budget. The food was delicious, and the wait staff very attentive. Our event was held in the Fireside Lounge. All of our guests commented on the ambiance of the space. I was very pleased with the quality of food and service! The Fireside Tavern Sherborn is the perfect venue for any event! Plus the restaurant was busy and crowded, so you know the food and atmosphere are outstanding!

Burgers pricey, they forgot my tomato, but good. I am partially disabled and this Sunday the handicap parking (4) out front was all occupied, but by vehicles without handicap placards/plates. PLUS, there was over an inch of snow on the sidewalks and they did not clear it, even after I asked. Tough to walk with walking sticks and impeded balance. Law suit waiting to happen.

My sister hosted her baby shower here. Beautiful building and amazing service. Food was top of the line (she chose a brunch theme) we had crab cakes, donuts, omelettes and pancakes etc all so delish. The owners will work with you to plan the menu and the bar was open. The event was three hours, they were so attentive and made the event amazing. Can't recommend them enough!

The food was pretty good. That's about all that was "good" about this place. The service was sub par- we ordered a dirty martini but the bar tender made a lemon martini with a lemon twist. When we sent it back all they did was fish the lemon twist out and put some olives in (they admitted to this when we asked). Our waitress was not attentive and the AC was blasting on our back the whole time. The place is cute but wildly overpriced for the experience and food quality.

We had a terrible experience dining here today. Our reservation was at 1:30 and the restaurant was almost empty. 2 people at our table ordered huevos rancheros which comes with 2 eggs over-easy which is key to the dish being authentic and tasting good. When the food was delivered the eggs were over-hard. When we pointed this out to the server they said that the dish was supposed to be served that way. We showed them the menu where it clearly states over-easy. They said they would check if the kitchen could cook new eggs since they were closing at 2:00. We expressed our hope that since it was their mistake they would make it right. The server blew out a huge breath, clearly annoyed, but we did get new eggs. A few minutes later restaurant staff began to noisily arrange place settings at the tables all around us. Then a staff member started sweeping around and under all the tables around us...dragging chairs in and out. This literally went on during the entire time we were eating. We didn't say anything because we had already made a complaint that wasn't well received and we didn't want to make a scene. When our server asked if everything was ok, we said no. We're paying good money to have a pleasant dining experience and having the restaurant cleaned all around us while we eating isn't conducive to that... not to mention the reluctance to correct the mistake on our meals. We said that perhaps they shouldn't take 1:30 reservations if they can't provide an appropriate experience for those dining at that time. The staff member who was sweeping did come out and apologize... but said she wouldn't have done it if she'd known it was bothersome. We get that she was just trying to get things ready for the next shift but truly someone in the dining hospitality industry should know better. On a high note...my burger was good.

My daughter made reservations for six people and a high chair six days ago. The person taking the reservation read it back to them. When we arrived at the restaurant we waited ten minutes while they tried to figure out where to put us.Other parties were seated while we waited. They tried to seat us at a small table for 6. (There were four tables for eight open).My two son in laws are over six feet tall. There was no room for high chair. I insisted on a larger table. The owner Laura was very rude about it. She said the reservation only included adults but that was untrue. She was rude. My feeling Is that she should have apologized. The server was excellent and the food was very good. I wish the first ten minutes never happened. If we hadn't been exposed to the owner I would have given 5 stars.

The new owners have taken this restaurant to the next level. The food and drinks are fabulous! Perfect for a date night, dinner with friends or meal with kids.

We had a very nice dinner here last night. The chicken piccata was delicious. Our tuna tartare appetizer was very bland. I suggest the chef add ginger or soy sauce or both to make it pop. On the plus side, there was plenty of tuna and we liked the crackers/chips that came with it. Our waitress was delightful and the room was quiet enough for us to have a conversation.

After a number of years living in Sherborn (much of it during COVID) and a name change for the restaurant we finally gave it a try. It did not disappoint. Friendly staff, a nivpce atmosphere and vibe. Good food. Will return

Delicious! Service was great, loved the bread. I ended up getting a side Caesar and the bread appetizer and was too full for a meal, so I added a piece of grilled chicken was delicious. Drinks at the bar were awesome too!

We have been coming here since they opened slightly over a year ago. The place is great - such good food and a wonderful atmosphere. I do suggest they improve on their wine selections! However, we went to this past Mother's Day Brunch and it simply was awful. There were only breakfast items on the menu. No omelette bar, no roast beef or hams or salads. The items that were served were dried out. The bacon and fruit were good, but the rest of the items left something to be desired. The price charged was way too high for what was offered. Very disappointe.

Just very average. Fish sandwich was average. If u order a "roasted beet" salad it shouldn't be 80% arugula. Salmon medium came out rare. Fries were way oversalted. Brisket sandwich was not warm but the side salad was. Steak sando was very good. Need to do better.

Hidden gem within a hidden town, if you find yourself out in the suburbs of Sherborn. Then definitely stop into this little tavern/restaurant. I've been here a couple times already and have been pleasantly surprised by the menu and service. It's a cozy bar with a lively atmosphere, creative drinks and standard beers on tap. I really enjoyed the burger and my wife liked the fish.

We wanted to try someplace new, it was close to home and it was raining cats and dogs. We landed on Fireside formerly Sherborn Inn which has its own Rep if you know what I mean. Their hours are 5-9 pm and they take reservations. It was a Thursday and we got there right about 5. We were seated in the bar side. Our server greeted us to see if we wanted drinks, we had a couple of menu questions and back she came with our water. Great start..... I ordered the Lobster Roll, typical NE style roll cold lobster with an aioli dressing no mayo which was delicious. I got a Caesar Salad as my side $32. My friend ordered a Reuben and a Salad as her side $20. Our other friend ordered a Peanut Crunch Salad $14 + chicken $8 $22. She got fries as her side. The Reuben was just okay. The food was not the issue.... It was the service. Our server was terrible. She never checked on us at all after she delivered our food. We had empty plates on our table and a nice young man came around and asked to clear them! I had to flag a manager down to ask him to have our server to please bring our check. We sat in front of the fake fireplace. The room is very noisy so be prepared. All and all we were there for 2 hours, our check was $102 before tip. It's unfortunate we won't be going back.

Fireside is tremendous! So many tasty options. Hats-off to the chef! Nice ambiance for date night in the main dining rooms. I like the tavern set-up for catching a game. It can also be the go-to restaurant for the family (great kids menu). The dining room and tavern areas were smartly upgraded/renovated. Pop-in and check it out. You will be impressed.

In town for baseball games, wanted something off the beaten path. Food was good, service was good and great ambiance. Nice local tavern

Have you ever heard of a restaurant telling you "Yes we see you have a reservation, but there was no table assigned to you. Therefore they can't seat you?" We made a reservation for Christmas Eve online. The receptionist said she could see that we made a reservation for 6 PM for three people, but the computer didn't assign us a table so she couldn't sit us for dinner on Christmas Eve. Now there aren't too many places open on Christmas Eve so I planned well ahead. I made this reservation maybe two weeks ago. I received two confirmations from the restaurant asking if we were coming at 6 o'clock. I said yes to both requests and yet we were turned away. Rudely I might add. The manager offered us appetizers as a consolation and to just sit at the bar. I said no, I wasn't dressed up for Christmas eve to sit at a bar. We've had many problems with this place and I was hopeful that with the new restaurant things would improve. Clearly it hasn't..

Food was delicious. Restaurant was delightful. Waiter well versed in the menu. Lancaster needs this place that with a bar livings it up even though I don't drink.

Really good dinner at Fireside this past week! Three of us were trying it for the first time. Everyone is friendly from the people at the front desk to the waitress, etc. The food was quite yummy. Two of us shared the halibut and salmon. The halibut was particularly tasty, which isn't always the case since its a mild fish. The sauce was really light and complimented the fish well. The salmon was delicious too. Our colleague who is an excellent cook, said the short ribs were delicious. The prices are so reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely return. I just wish they had another restaurant in the Wayland area too!

Love the vibe at Fireside Tavern. Great food and service. Outdoor patio brings the summer feels but also looking forward to a cozy fire in the winter.

We ate here 9/26 th for the fifth time in the past few months and the food, ambiance, and service are all amazing. We ate on the tavern side and dined on halibut, salmon, and steak frites. Each meal was prepared perfectly, served hot, and all of the owners and staff are extremely friendly. Living outing the suburbs there are not very many restaurants that are able to make food that tastes good but Fireside Tavern has charming country atmosphere with sophisticated drinks and food. Matt, the bartender is from Ireland and very knowledgeable about each dish on the menu. Looking forward to the fire being lot when the cold weather rolls in.

I made reservations for my wife and I and requested Tavern seating. I also sent a message requesting bar seats be reserved if possible and they told me it was not. We went there. Plenty of parking. We checked in and asked for bar seating if possible. They have 2 bars. We checked both and the tavern side had 2 seats and lucked out. We sat and it was very busy and very loud. They allow children on the tavern side as an FYI. We ordered drinks and apps. We then ordered our meals. Everything was good but nothing stood out as amazing for the cost and ambiance. The high ceilings make it very loud. There appears to be a lot of regulars that were there and several wanted to chat with us which was fine. Good but most likely a one and done for us.

Food and drink was good but offered a reminder on the impact of service. Place was cleared out 45-mins prior to close and our server made it clear she was not happy to bring over the dessert menu. I get it - I would want to get home too but making your guests unwelcome is not in the job description.

You want to like this place given its location and atmosphere but in general it was an awful experience. The service was painfully slow and it felt like one of those places that saw you had kids an immediately rolled their eyes. I only say that because they said they were "booked" yet stuck us right next to the kitchen and the restaurant never got filled up. Lastly, the entrance is a hazard, they need to have a sign saying watch your step.

The food was good. The hostess was beyond rude. So bad that I'm not sure we'd go back in case we had to deal with her again.

I went to Fireside last night for my birthday meal as booked by my wife. I had previously been to both Sherborn Inn and Heritage as well. The food was good, but nothing special in my mind, and there are a few things I think need to be considered for this new business. First, I think the prices are way too expensive ($8 for bread an butter, $32 for Roast Chicken, $38 for steak Frites, no appetizer under $14, Burger & fries $21.. etc.. ) so for those prices, I would expect a higher end of service and experience. The water glasses are jam jars, (which seems to be a thing now) which also match the flower vase on the table, give me real glasses! The sauces (ketchup, mayo, dressing) came In plastic cups a'la McDonald's, and my 2nd wine glass was not clean on the outside (crusty dirt) so I walked to the bar to get it exchanged (existing wine was poured into new glass). On top of that a barman (the bearded one) coughed into his hand whilst drying glasses with a cloth, then proceeded to place that coughed in hand around the glass, and put it in the clean glass rack to be used... not very hygenic in these germ conscious days. The waitress whilst not very visible during the meal was very quick to clean plates away (as we finished, not when we were both finished) and quick to put the check down with the normal "no rush, whenever you are ready" which is delivered with the "hurry up, I need to turn the table" tone of voice. The noise in the bar area (where we were seated) is as always noisy, but not much can be done about that.. if i was sitting at the bar, as I have done many times in the past versions of the Inn, I think that is fine... I would like to have this as a local I can go to again and again, but at those prices, it's probably a once a year thing for me.

All around great spot. We sat in the bar area and had great service. Really nice draft beer selection, lots of yummy apps to choose from, and overall cozy and inviting atmosphere. Entree portions were very big and food tasted very fresh. Will definitely be coming back!

Came on a Saturday. The place was very busy. Our dinner was very good overall, but service was slow. We sat in the dining room, which is quieter than the tavern area. Definitely the place to sit if you want to have a conversation without shouting. The tuna tartare was meh, wouldn't order again. The Brussels sprouts are excellent and the French onion soup very good. Salads were large. Short ribs and steak frites both excellent. A very good option in the suburbs but would recommend you go on a weeknight. We had gone previously on a Tuesday and had speedy service and also very good food.

Fireside Tavern is a revelation. The atmosphere is friendly, fun and the right touch of cosy, with fireplaces ablaze on a recent cold winter night. The menu is incredible. There are plenty of solid staples (hamburger, grilled chicken) which are really tasty, and you can step it up a notch with perfectly cooked steaks, short ribs, or salmon. We loved their caesar salad and the tuna tartare. And the espresso martinis were just amazing. For dessert we had an apple crisp with drizzled caramel that was so, so good. Fireside is the perfect place for date night or a family dinner. I highly recommend!

I had an amazing time at the Fireside Tavern in Sherborn. The staff including my server Kyra were incredibly polite and accommodating and the food was excellent. I can't wait to come back.

My boyfriend and I decided to try our luck at getting a table here even though they did not have reservations open for the night. Knowing that they just opened about a week ago, we tried not to set our expectations too high since restaurants typically are still working out the kinks at this point. We walked in to a friendly hostess who told us that the wait would be about 45 minutes but that we could grab drinks in the lounge area while waiting. The drinks were great and the wait ended up being shorter than expected. At our table, we were impressed with the ambiance, though the space was smaller than expected. It looked like they may only have had part of the restaurant open for a soft opening. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was delicious and the wings were great. My boyfriend got the burger and I got the lobster roll. We both loved our entrees, but will likely upgrade to try the truffle fries as a side next time. We were very impressed with the service, as you could never tell that the restaurant just opened. It was an all around great experience and we're excited to come back!

Such a welcoming place! Very active and lively on a Friday night. The service was excellent. Friendly server, food was delicious and menu diverse enough to please adults and even a picky 14 year old . We had a fun night out right here in sleepy Sherborn.

We used to go to the old restaurant in the same location. Nothing spectacular, but usually pretty good. We were excited to try the new place. Most of the inside remains the same. Service was excellent. Now for the bad: very small food selection and few appetizers. Burgers were very good. Salad mediocre at most. Appetizers were fair. The dessert however was absolutely a joke. We requested the brownie. It looked like something that you get at a gas station. Not even an attempt to try to dress it up. Disappointing for the price. I don't think that this was a question of getting their kitchen up and running, but rather the fact that they were very limited in what they could do.
