We played The Lakes Course today. Definitely challenging but getable. Absolutely outstanding golf course in great shape! Friendly and professional staff. Highly recommend!

I was quite excited to play at Firewheel Golf Park, however I didn't have the experience I had hoped for. The course was in poor condition; putting was difficult due to the hard, uneven, and spotty greens. Play was disrupted by exposed sprinkler work and construction equipment, and several fairways were completely destroyed. The lack of communication made it worse. I made my reservation well in advance, and nobody informed me of the significant repair that was taking place. I anticipated a well-maintained course, not one that felt unfinished, for the amount I paid. Additionally, it was cart route only, which required a lot of back-and-forth trekking across muddy areas and grass that had been torn up. It's a major annoyance for anyone who isn't anticipating a hike. When completely repaired, Firewheel might have potential, but for present, the expense and trouble are not worth it. Until they tidy up and treat the experience more seriously, I won't be going back.

Google
Great every day courses! Tee boxes were good, greens were good, carts are perfect- they have a GPS in each one that advises the distance to the hole. Restrooms on the old course were very nice, clean!! There’s a little restaurant, drinks, soda, water, you can get ice! They have someone who comes out who you can buy drinks from. Great inexpensive course to play! Some of the greens aren’t pristine, however, it’s a great course, beautiful trees, water areas for wildlife, and a great walk if you don’t get the cart!!! Go, & just have fun!!!!

Google
Prices aren’t bad and course is good for what you pay. However, Carts in by 8pm makes no sense when sunset is 8:45. I was told it was because of “city rules”, I’ve played courses around here and this course many times without this “rule”. Then forcing 3 messages to my cart with a petty tone when we were finishing hole 16 at 8:03 was ridiculous. There was more than enough light to finish 18(picture included of leaving parking lot). Luckily it’s a cheap round but if people paid a typical price it would feel like a rip off. Have played afternoons here a ton but will not be if that is the new standard of customer service.

Google
Played the Lakes course on 4/18/25. This tee box is the absolute best of the entire 18 holes. No water, very little grass and hard as concrete. Hard to get a tee in the ground, forget about solid footing and don’t hit down on the ball. It’s a shame, because this course was great last season. I won’t be going back again this year. It’ll only get worse since the Old course is closed for renovation.

Google
I was looking for a decent place to play a Birthday round of golf and played the old course a few days ago and the course conditions were absolutely horrendous. Not a happy birthday to me :( Let me just say it wasn’t a good look for Firewheel golf park. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and really everything was in terrible shape. There were massive wood chips laid across multiple holes which I’ve never seen before. And guess what? Yup they charged full price… WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO OTHERS TO PLAY HERE

Google
Played the Bridges. They have 27 holes. We played The Champions & The Masters course. It was in good shape. Staff was very friendly. Give it a shot! Good layout.

Google
At Firewheel golf course today in Garland. For those that are not familiar with it there’s actually three courses, the old course, the lakes course, and the Bridges. The old course has more houses on it and it’s a little bit more wide-open, the lakes course hence the name there’s lots and lots of water, the bridges is on the backside of these two it’s a little bit more expensive but it’s a very nice course. the bunkers were in good shape the sand was fluffy the fairways can be wide but also can be very narrow the greens are in really good shape the first cut of rough is deep and tough if you get off the fairway, got to be right on top your ball to find it, that being said $30 for a round of golf on the Lakes course was a good day get out here early this place fills up fast but it’s OK later in the day because there’s lots of trees so you can play shade golf good luck out there.

Yelp
Had a great time at Fireball Golf Park on the Lakes Course. We were there for the Texas Exes event, and it was such a fun experience. While some of the greens could use a bit of work, I've played on much worse courses. The atmosphere, events, and overall vibe made it well worth the visit. Highly recommended for a fun day of golf!

Yelp
Played the Old Course and it was absolutely terrible, probably one of the worst courses in the DFW area. Cart path only because they have NO grass. Almost every shot was from the dirt, even from middle of the fairway. Greens are rough and very inconsistent to putt. You have been warned.

Yelp
I played the Old course today and I cannot remember playing on a course that was in such poor condition for their tee boxes and fairways than this course. The city of Garland should be ashamed about how poorly maintained it was. The greens were acceptable, but nothing else. The fairways were basically hitting off of hard pan with no grass whatsoever to be found. Made it impossible to hit any kind of wedge around the green. This will be the last time I play there for the foreseeable future unless something changes.

Matt B.

Yelp
absolutely terrible customer service. Drove 45minutes to play golf and the course was closed After paying and booking a tee time online. Employees had no remorse or cared about the inconvenience.

Yelp
I played a round on 5/28 on the Old Course. The course is well-maintained, besides a couple of rock-hard tee boxes, and the greens are in good condition. On hole 8, I called the clubhouse to see if a beverage cart was going around on the course, and I was told there was, but it never crossed paths with my group. That was the only downgrade to the experience.

Kurt W.

Yelp
The Old Course is horrible. Do not pay money. They don't water the fairways. Play only if like hitting off of dirt! Also, $10.00 for medium basket of range balls to hit off mats because they obviously don't water the range either. I pay half as much at Waterview GC. very dissatisfied

Yelp
The Old Course green require an off road golf ball if you putt. Greens are grass and dirt mixture - Fairways green cut short and dry. Fairways are a mixture of uncut weeds and trees down which were not removed. Hole 3 Par 5 if your fade to right you will roll where there are trees and tires in a dry pond. Ponds are in need of maintenance as-well as ditch crossing and cart paths. This course is certainly not in my favor - I've tried to like this Course but it does not favor me. Sand traps are inconsistent and seem neglected. Fairways are cut short and limited thick grass and DRY - greens are hard to judge because of inconsistent grass growth. Not a good venue to test your skills. Also if your not in the Fairway your going to play boggy golf.

Brian J.

Yelp
Used to be a pretty good but not any more. If you do twilight golf and take a cart, the clubhouse will lock your cart and you have to walk back. There are better courses in the area now, I've played here for over 30 years, I won't take a cart here anymore and it's now last on my lists of places to play and it's a half of mile from my home. Management is slipping. Try pecan hollow, its really pretty nice now.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
The Lakes course greens are in the best condition of any North Texas golf course I have ever seen at this time of the year in early December. They are fast and smooth. The greenskeeper should be applauded. Also, the PGA staff there including Micah and Jeff are very friendly and helpful. They found my range finder I left in the golf cart and held it for me in the pro shop. Great job thanks guys! Will be back again to play next week. Steve from Dallas

Cindy W.

Yelp
Greens were in terrible shape!!! Unrepaired divots on every green and the greens were so inconsistent. Do not recommend.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Nice course, I believe they have three maybe. Played here several times now and the course is usually in great shape. The staff is friendly. I didn't play well but this enjoyed playing at Firewheel. I kind of look forward to playing here when I'm in town visiting family in Garland.

Yelp
By far the best public course I've ever been to. The gps golf carts are great, a great added perk, although can sometimes get annoying. But the course is very well kept.

John B.

Yelp
Go almost anywhere else. Tee boxes so hard you can't even get a tee in, fairways beat to hell, no sand in the carts for divots, and a pro shop that looks like it was raided in a riot. No cart girls to be seen anywhere, just to name a few of the terrible things. Honestly spend your money elsewhere. I heard it was a nice course but holy hell it's been one of the worst I've gone to in Dallas. 2 stars only cause the round went quick.

Yelp
6/16/2020 *Will not return to this course* Purposefully booked a solo tee time on Golf Now. As I checked in the staff informed me "that's not allowed" and said I must wait for a twosome teeing off in 20 minutes. I sit in 100 degree sun for 20 minutes waiting for them, nothing, and it's now past their tee time. Another staff member drives up and asks why I hadn't teed off yet and I explain that I was told to wait. He goes to look for the twosome I'm supposed to be with and discovers they are on the 5th hole. So I sat in the heat for nothing thanks to the guy working the shop. Pretty much ruined my enjoyment of the round. Then about hole 6 I see the same guy that went to check on the twosome playing holes as a solo. Very aggravating.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Always a great experience for the money out at Firewheel. Challenging layout with greens that'll test your speed control. Staff is always super helpful and friendly.

Yelp
Paid $25 from golfnow.com to play.. it was a fair price for the course. I played the Lakes course and when they say " If you think the bridges course has teeth, the lakes course has fangs" you better believe it. It was a challenging course and was fun nonetheless. I would come back here again.
google avatar

Nick W.

Yelp
This review is for the Lakes and Old Course. The Bridges course has terrible greens that are in insanely bad shape. The Lakes & Old Course are great courses and very affordable. The Old Course is wide open and a lot of fun while the Lakes provides a good challenge due to all of the water along the fairways. I live in this course and play them a lot. I wish they would bring back the monthly membership that they used to offer.

Yelp
I played Firewheel Bridges on Friday afternoon and payed their after 1:00 rate of $44. I thought the tee boxes and fairways were in good shape for the August heat. However, the greens were terrible. Now, most of the greens were terrible because the public doesn't know how to properly repair a divot or don't attempt to at all. However, the aprons were full of weeds and so were many of the greens. Many greens were just unputtable. One of the greens was a temporary green. Very disappointing. I could have chosen Buffalo Creek and payed about $7 more and had nice greens and fairways.

Yelp
This is a great place to play a round of golf. The courses are beautiful, challenging, and fun. This place is inexpensive when compared to other courses yet they still manage to have good quality. I highly recommend this place.

Hayden M.

Yelp
Courses are fun and the park provides a couple different options. The main issue is booking a tee time. Tee sheet doesn't open till Wednesday at 8am. So you figure okay, no biggie, I'll call then. But it seems like they only take one call at a time... there isn't a queue so some Wednesday mornings I spend up to 45 minutes calling the golf course hoping that they take my call. Also the website isn't very functional so you may have trouble booking there as well. Overall, fun courses but very frustrating when actually trying to get onto the course. Also, they make no accommodations even if you have buddies traveling in from out of town. Overall, frustrating experience.

Jason C.

Yelp
Third time playing here. On the masters side with another broke down cart.Very disappointing waited 20 minutes to get another cart. Yes was probably the farthest from club house however the Most disappointing part was when I got back to the clubhouse and mention to the guy he was running the maintenance for the carts. He said contact the city they'll take care of it. WTF

Yelp
Most unprofessional experience I've encountered on the golf course on the morning of December 22, 2018. The Guys at the register were fine but the starter displayed vulgar and unnecessary words and expressions.
google avatar

Yelp
For pond fishing on the links side is phenomenal.... every time I take my kids we catch atleast five 5 fish within the first hour ...

Yelp
I showed up solo to play. Front staff called up a group of 3 and informed them that I'd be playing with. The guy said ok and that they were on the box about to hit. I ran to grab my things and as I walked up, the same guy looked my way and said, "he's not playing with us",, and they drove off. At this time I'm so embarrassed because I'm not sure if these guys didn't want a 4th or if they didn't want a black person playing with them. I was reluctant to even show up in fear that this would happen. I informed front staff and they said, ok, we'll put you with another 3. I was kinda shocked that they weren't alarmed that at what happened. Anyway, they put me with 3 and it turned out that the 4th simply hadn't shown up yet. So again I walk back to the front desk. They assigned me to another 3 and asked them to wait for me, (I'm asking myself why I stayed). The 3rd set of guys were welcoming and we had a good round. I understand that the staff can't control what customers do but it's what they do afterwards that makes for a good experience and a 5 star review.

Yelp
Firewheel Golf Park has 63 holes of quality golf. The Bridges is on the fancier end, with GPS carts, which is a good thing considering the bridges can be tricky to navigate from hole to hole if you've never played here before. The Lakes is my personal favorite. It's tough, but also very fun. The Old Course is also very nice and is a good break after playing the Lakes. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I played the Champion and Masters courses at Bridges. The coolest amenity on the course was the touch screen GPS. It'll pinpoint the distance so you don't need to pull out your range finder. The upkeep of the course is great and the ambassador keeps the flow running smooth though it was fairly crowded.

Dennis S.

Yelp
Masters and Champions in my opinion are similar to courses I played in Myrtle Beach, SC. I love these two courses.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
Skip it. Especially if you played in the middle of a day on a Monday. Every bottom of the barrel bad player plays this course. No one watching pace of play. 5 putts on greens each player in front of us. The kicker - not sure who was better - a woman walking the course in bare feet or another woman walking in gullies looking for balls. No golf etiquette on this course.

David P.

Yelp
Lakes and Bridges course are beautiful and it's always fun playing here. Staff is usually nice the price and value are hard to beat here.. However, the old course is garbage and it seems like the greens keepers and ground crew hardly spend time on it anymore.

Maxine C.

Yelp
We played at the Lakes Course, I have never had such a bad experience. This course didn't have any range balls available, they didn't have any carts available for our tee time....once on the course our cart died not once but twice, it was also 80+ degree weather and they didn't have a cart person......the course should have offered some type of comp. instead they had no words....ill prepared and unorganized!!!!

Yelp
I played the Firewheel Old course and was pretty impressed with Course layout. Some holes were very straight forward but others were definitely challenging. Pretty fair course to those who know how to manage their game. I would say that it was well maintained and the greens definitely rolled. Pretty nice course overall and the price aint bad (about $30). I would recommend this course to all golfers.

Brian S.

Yelp
If you like slow play, brown greens and cigarette butts all over the course, then you will enjoy it. No Marshall to speed up play.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
Not a bad course. Lots of lakes and sand traps but still lots of fun. The best part is the price - only $24 for 18 and a cart during winter. Sometime there can be a wait b/c of players in front and the way the course it designed but still well worth it.
google avatar

Gene H.

Yelp
Very nicely maintained course for a fair price. We played a round on July 4th so it was a little crowded than usual. But all the greens and fairway was well kept considering it just rained hard for the week prior. Multiple courses all next to each other.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
Played the Old course the past Sat. Feb 7th. The course is in bad shape, I had a 1:06 tee time but did not go off until about 1:20 due to NO carts, they also had no range balls due to the machine to pick them up was broken. The cart I did get died on the 3rd hole, so I had to call the pro shop so they could bring me another one. The price is pretty good but that doesn't make up for the poor time you have. There are better courses within the same price range that are much more enjoyable.

Douglas F.

Yelp
Hadn't played there in awhile and now I remember why? Sunday afternoon gorgeous weather ,great 4 some , and then you have the employees on the course playing around free of charge I'm sure , wanting to exercise their ill timed and totally antagonistic lack of people skills on those of us whom paid for our round . I would go into detail but Firewheel management does not deserve the courtesy , since they showed us none . Let's just say I won't be playing there any time soon ! You reap what you sow . Your course is looking a little weedy right now .
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
I tend to visit the lakes or old course once a week or a few times per month. Last time i played, the fairways/greens where not in great shape (may 2011) but its a overall good course. I go during the week and usually meet-up with the local golf team and they always let me play through.

Bill T.

Yelp
Played the Old Course today and was completely disgusted. Jerry Andrews has to be turning over in his grave. I realize it's still early in the season but hard pan fairways, no beverage carts, no marshals, nothing that resembles a decent track. We were playing behind a threesome and we were only two, but at the turn, out of the blue this young girl(12-13 yrs. old) shows up and proceeds to tee her ball in between our two groups. We didn't know what to say, so finally we just ignored her and played. A Marshall would have been nice to clear up the matter. I don't think I will be spending my money at Firewheel again.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Mixed reviews on Bridges course. Good conditions, great GPS system. While 98 degrees, no water or cart refreshment sales on course. 12 inch sprinkler heads on fringe in center of green affected several shots and unique distraction. Many parallel holes caused slicers to play up our fairway several times. Tee off at 1:30 on Wed, but took 4 hours and 45 min to play 18.

Michael N.

Yelp
The greens on these courses are simply near perfect. The Lakes seems to be the best of the three I've played. I've played here 15 times since Feb 2017.

Lee M.

Yelp
As an avid golfer, I like to try new courses. First of all it's a fun course, not too challenging and decently maintained. The fairways are lush in color but the greens are hard packed with small shrubs imbedded Making putts more challenging. Also, don't expect the water coolers set throughout the course to be filled, all of them from hole 1-18 were only filled with ice. Not a single staff member came through to fill them up. And on a hot summer day, that could really start to aggravate the golfers. The staff were polite but not too eager.

Scott B.

Yelp
The golf course was fine but the girl in the office is terrible. Natasha is her name. Rudest clubhouse lady I have ever met. I think the course was ok but the lady will prevent me from coming back. What a B%^tch!!! DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE DO TO HER!!! The lakes or the old course. Avoid her at all costs! II have never been yelled at on a golf course for waiting to play from the group in front of us. We were waiting in our cart and she yelled at us to start taking practice swings while the group in front of us was on green on a par 3?? Stupid! Very rude and will never go back. Ruined the rest of the round for us.

George B.

Yelp
Played the old course. Nice layout but there is little to no grass in the fairway. Poor condition for the price

Happy G.

Yelp
Play too slow. Firewheel does not marshall the course. Took me 2 hour 50 minutes to play 9 holes on a Saturday. I called the Pro shop to ask for assistance. No one came.
