Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Also at the Populus is Pioneer Square’s newest (and first, apparently) rooftop bar. There are small bites like dungeness crab dip and pimento cheese profiteroles. But cocktails take up the most real estate on the menu. We’re talking an N/A espresso martini, a frozen cocktail that involves tequila and white chocolate, and clarified rum punch." - kayla sager riley, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo

The 11 Best Rooftop Bars And Restaurants In Seattle, Ranked - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Touted as Pioneer Square’s first rooftop bar, Firn at the Populus Hotel opened with a lot of pressure upon it (the poor thing). And while the long patio space makes for a nice outdoor hang, don’t expect a surplus of high-elevation excitement. It’s located on the sixth floor, eye-level with a few skyscrapers—and the only waterfront sighting is a small slice of shimmering blue obscured by shrubbery. That wouldn’t matter if the drinks were fantastic, but they lack complexity in general (looking at you, five-ingredient clarified cocktail that just tastes like pineapple juice)." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente

Seattle’s Best Rooftops for Spring and Summer Dining | Eater Seattle

"It’s hard to believe that Firn (at the tippy-top of the new Populus Hotel) is Pioneer Square’s only rooftop bar. With the tops of historic buildings rising just above treeline all around you, the atmosphere is truly serene. But Firn isn’t relying on location alone for clout — the bar menu fascinatingly revolves around ice. Yes, ice. There’s “clear” ice cocktails with giant cubes (or a sphere or diamond, depending on your drink choice) of the stuff. There are shaken “ice cold” cocktails served up. There’s a shaved ice cocktail and some with crushed ice, plus a couple of straight-up slushies. If you’ve never tried a frozen Seattle coffee with brandy and biscotti liqueur, this is the place." - Brianna Gunter

Google
Great place for a rooftop bar with a great vibe and atmosphere. Vibe wise it reminds me of mountineering club. Drink wise it reminds me of fog room. View wise it reminds me of nothing else. Service was okay. The food was good nothing special. The drinks were good though! I’d come back.

Google
I very much enjoy this place. The bar is very nice and the staff was very friendly. I only had time to slam a tiny little beer, but will definitely come back just for the customer service and atmosphere alone.

Firn is a rooftop bar across the street from Cowgirls, about a block or so north of the stadiums. Parking around here can be a pain but it's easy to get to. In the lobby of the hotel, you take the elevator to the top floor. The atmosphere here is amazing, really cool setup especially during the summer when the walls are open. Reservations are definitely recommended, but they do have walk in space for standing room outside. Their menu isn't that big, and prices are extremely high which also have a mandatory 20% gratuity added on. Their drinks are good with decent pours. The staff is friendly, but some of the bartenders are a little bit short with customers. Overall I'd highly recommend coming here for a single drink to check it out at some point with a smaller group of people.

This is a new rooftop bar in Seattle, which the views can be good depending on where you're sitting. I really like the vibes of just the hotel itself. However what really shocked me was the service, loved the dude's vibe that reminded me of Southern California, just chill laid-back. The crowd was meh but appreciated the delicious (but VERY expensive) drinks lol. But that's what you get when you want a nice view of seattle! Overall I like this place they don't really serve that food options but if you want a quick drink and you want the vibes and a cute little photos come here.

Google
Wonderful addition to the rooftop bar list. Great place for yummy, creative/inventive cocktails with an awesome view of the city. On the pricy side, but on par with upscale, trendy cocktail bars in Seattle. Food menu is very limited as that's not their niche. Reservations recommended, but they managed to squeeze 2 of us in on a Wed eve, that was still busy. Living room and patio cozy seating vibes. Ok for larger groups if you get there early enough or make a reservation. Enjoyed the experience and would definitely go back with visiting friends.

Google
Great new rooftop bar! Great view of the city! You get everything, the Space Needle, Columbia Tower, Smith Tower, and others from a different view than you usually find in Seattle. Nice indoor and outdoor spaces with a great bar that is staffed well. This will be a go to spot, and a good spot before or after stadium events. Had dinner at Salt Harvest (restaurant in the same building) and the food was fantastic. I’ll definitely be going back for the salmon and to try their other options. See my other review for picture of the salmon and review of the restaurant.

Google
Incredible setting. Very weak wine options for such a lovely space. Maybe some French or Italian or Spanish. Definitely some champagne. 🍾 I know they are working out the kinks (like menus and athletics and service) but lots of potential.

Great little spot for upscale cocktails in a fun atmosphere. Stunning views and modern style set in a classic rooftop terrace garden. Great service makes for a great spot for entertaining clients.

Yelp
Come for the vibes. Because the building is located in Pioneer Square and it's not on top of a super high-rise, the view is different from other Seattle rooftop bars like Fog Room or The Nest. It's super relaxed. There generally isn't a dress code so you can come by with friends and hang out. The cocktails are great! But be ready to pay $20-30 for one drink. They're not cheap, but that's standard with any Seattle rooftop establishment. Service is generally good. Servers are pretty attentive, given how many tables they're responsible for. A con: The charcuterie "board" needs some serious work. It's served on a plate with some meats and a few cheeses. They put maybe four or five crackers on the plate with some olives and gherkins. For how much it costs, it needs a facelift. This is not charcuterie. It's a small Lunchable on a dinner plate. Tbh I think the meats/cheeses come from Costco lol, even the crackers. It's almost laughable they provide you with cloth napkins, small plates and cutlery to eat it. It's perhaps for one person- and even that is reaching.

Yelp
3.3/5 Came here for my fiance's birthday for some pre-dinner drinks. This was on a Tuesday so we lucked out when it came to finding street parking. Can only imagine what a weekend is like. Service - service was great, from being greeted at the door, to being navigated to the elevators and sent up, to the hostess who greeted us at the actual bar. Our server was also very personable and gave us recommendations based on our preferences, he was a little hard to reach, especially when we wanted to check out tho. Ambiance - I mean it's a rooftop bar. The vibes are immaculate. Played good music the inside isn't blocked off at all from the outdoor patio, so very open. The nice cushioned seats, perfect for a date. Everyone seemed to be dressed for the atmosphere. Although I will say, there was a mariners game this night so actually a decent amount of people having casual pregame drinks in their Jersey's. Food - we didn't get a chance to sample the food since we were just here for drinks. We tried the green acres and the Manhattan Noir. The Manhattan was very heavy on the vermouth so wasn't a huge fan, it was strong, so thats a plus. The green acres was on the sweeter side but I liked the green tea they added. We were hoping to try other drinks but waiter didn't come around in time. Probably for the best, 2 drinks alone runs you $50+. I hate that this is Seattle now. The automatic 20% didn't help either so be aware of that. Overall, great vibes, drinks are so-so. I'd come back for the atmosphere.

Yelp
Drinks ordered: - Green acres - Letters to the forest - Seasonal cobbler Overall, the drinks are overly sweet for my preference, in an artificial syrupy way. Wouldn't necessarily come back for the drinks, but it's a nice spot to hang out and chat. Food options are very limited. I had outdoor seating on a typical sunny Seattle evening, there's no shade at our table, so we were using menus to fan ourselves and cover our eyes. It's unfortunate because the view of the skyline was beautiful. Really enjoyed the neutral zen furniture and being surrounded by plants. Automatic 20% tip charge on the bill. Driving in this area is a NIGHTMARE, especially if there's a mariners game going on. I took the link and walked, which was a much smoother experience than my friends who'd drove and dealt with finding and paying for parking.

Yelp
Quick seating, we got a table with the most perfect view! Loved our waiter she was so sweet and helpful! The sliders were okay but I did enjoy their drinks!

Yelp
We had reservations for Saturday afternoon and were seated outside. The view wasn't great in my opinion, and the ambiance inside was much nicer and more aesthetic. Our drinks (the Get Schwifty shaved shareable) took a long time to arrive because an ingredient had to be brought up from downstairs. My drink glassware also had a chip on the rim. Our food (mini sliders) was also delayed. People who ordered after us were served well before we were, apparently for the same reason. Both the drinks and food fell short of expectations. I won't be rushing to come back, but if I do, I'll make sure to request indoor seating.

Yelp
Firn knew exacttllyyy what they were doing opening right before patio/rooftop season in Seattle. And Pioneer Square's first (and only) rooftop bar, no less! I visited the hotel because a friend of mine was in town and was staying at Populus and she insisted we check out Firn. After only being open for like four days, there was a HEFTY line and the place we packed. We got in quickly due to her having a reservation (yes, they take rezzies!) and we were able to order quickly from a sweet bartender. The place itself is gorgeous. Decorated beautiful and the atmosphere is fun and lively and SCREAMING summer. We started by sitting indoors at the bar and got to move to the rooftop space eventually and sunset is THE time to be out there. It's still warm, but the sun isn't blaring in your eyes, and you're getting a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline against the sunset. So gorgeous! You won't catch a lot of water views here, but how many skyrises do you really see in PI that are gonna boast water views..... Not many (if any?). So honestly, this view is STELLAR. I tried an assortment of cocktails and was wowed by them all. The Seatini was a fun and fruity option with a pretty stamped ice block. Loved the hibiscus flavor in it. I think my personal favorite though was the Seattle Freeze, a blended boozy coffee drink that's essentially a play on an espresso martini but boy is it strong. I had literally 2-3 passersby say "watch out, those sneak up on you," LOL and they do! They also have light bites here (very limited menu) but it all sounds delicious. I opted for the Dungeness Crab Dip and it was sooo good. Definitely recommend. Overall, Firn is one of theee summer spots to hit this season for rooftop drinks. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Beautiful new rooftop bar in Pioneer Square with a stunning view of downtown. You can also see fireworks from T-Mobile Park if you're there during a Mariners Game! The service was really friendly, though a little slow, but I didn't mind since I was there to lounge around and hang with friends anyway. I ordered the Diamond Sea milk punch and Minute of the Hour. Both fabulous cocktails and not overwhelmingly sweet. It's very nice that they provide blankets if you're cold. It would be even nicer if they added a few heater lamps! The drinks are a little pricey ($20-24 before tax and tip) but it was worth it for the ambiance. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Soaking up the sunshine in the summertime is a must in Seattle. What better way to relax than with a cocktail on the outdoor rooftop at Populus! A staff member must let you into the elevator to go upstairs if you're not staying in the hotel...indoor, outdoor and bar seating available. Many drink options and a few yummy bar bites-Dungeness crab dip, a cheese platter...our room was a few floors below so it was an easy choice to visit! But it was also a great choice, not just convenient. If I lived here, this would be my go to place in the summertime. Cool vibe, live DJ and the chance to soak up the sun and city views! Yes they do take reservations. Valet parking available. Fun side note: employees here are provided with Addidas Sambas shoes and stylish sweaters. Nice perk!

Yelp
I am so excited for a new rooftop bar! I popped in last Friday with a friend and it was SUCH a vibe. We got there around 3:30 so it wasn't crazy busy yet and we were able to get seated outside (on a sunny day!) between us we ordered an espresso martini and a manhattan and we really enjoyed both drinks. We also split the seafood dip and it was really, really good. We loved that there was lettuce since the dip is salty and it offset it perfectly. Also worth mentioning the new hotel it lives on is also a stunner and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great for a rooftop vibe. Not great for your wallet. I went recently and ordered the crab dip. It arrived at the bar where we sat and barely filled the bottom of the cast iron dish-$29. Cocktails are a major hit or miss and are on the pricier side. The hardest part of my recent experience was the very sloppy bartender making cocktails for the house as drink tickets poured in from the printer. It was hard to have a conversation because I couldn't take my eyes off of how messy this bartender was. No garnishes on drinks, glassware a d shakers and jiggers all over the place, and not emptying the shaker fully into a glass so cocktails had uneven amounts of liquid going out. I want to love this place but every time I go it feels like the wheels have come off.

Yelp
This rooftop bar will certainly be the new popular spring and summer hangout. It's located on the top of a nice hotel and is well equipped with lots or great places to sit inside and outside and a buzzy after work crowd. Servers are friendly and fast and there is a great drink selection. I didn't try the limited food menu but it indicates this is more of a bar to go to before or after dinner. Will likely go again, often.

Yelp
20% forced service charge is ridiculous for the disorganized service. Overly sweet cocktails. Cold hard flatbread for a dingy of crab dip

Brady S.

Yelp
Adam was our bartender today. He is one of the most creative and friendly bartenders I have ever met. We spent a few hours on a Sunday afternoon in the rooftop bar at Fern Adam's incredible creations were some of the best cocktails I have ever had. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Yelp
Wanted to check out the new rooftop bar in town. I think I expected higher floor for the view of the ocean. The downtown city view was nice if you are seated on the side where you can get a view of it. The cocktails were the highlight. The drinks were strong, delicious, and on point beautiful cocktails. The ice for the cocktail was beautifully clear in pretty fancy glasses. I gave a 3 stars due to the difference in my expectation for the service and the food. We ordered our drinks and food right away when we got seated but it took a very long time to get them. We ordered the dungeness crab dip however our orders were all messed up. We got 2 other items we didn't order. One, we recognized that it wasn't our order so we told them. The second one (potted salmon), we were not certain so we had a taste but it wasn't what we expected. Thankfully, they comp'ed us on that dish. It still took a long time for them to get us what we ordered. I guess the operation of the place is still being worked out? All the other tables got their drink and food while we waited (even though others got seated and even ordered after us). For the food, they were ok and both needed more bread chips. It wasn't enough for the dip so we asked for more. The crab dip tasted mostly of cream and I could barely taste the crab. The salmon was a strong smoked salmon taste. To get to the rooftop, once you enter the hotel, there is no sign. You need to ask the front desk to let you on the elevator that gets you to the rooftop. When you get off the floor, there is a glass door to the left and another hallway to the right. You have to go right along the hallway. Others in my elevator thought the glass door on left went to the restroom to drop by before getting seated. But that glass door isn't to the bathroom. Overall, it was a nice night out on a rooftop and I am thankful that there is another one in seattle with good drinks. I may return when I am in Pioneer square neighborhood (such as the first Thursday art walk) for just the drinks.

Yelp
Drinks were really good but I wish they had more food options or gave more bread with the charcuterie ://

Yelp
Sammy the bar tender was amazing she was very attentive & kind. 10/10 service and great ambiance but a little loud.

Yelp
Open just a week. The ambiance is great and the cocktails have a creative spin on classics. The roof top will be great in the summer for pre-gaming.

Yelp
Thomas was such a great host, he made the whole thing experience amazing. Truly love him
