Yelp
Omg. The food here was SO good. We've been to Breaking Dawn, the morning sister restaurant, several times and absolutely love it. The dishes are such savory, rich, indulgent, and delicious modern interpretations of traditional Vietnamese, we've loved everything we've had from there! We've been on the lookout for the dinner menu for Breaking Dawn ever since our first experience at that sister restaurant and were determined to try the dinner set.
We were so excited to try the menu here! If you've been to Breaking Dawn, you would wonder how they can get any more creative with their Vietnamese and Asian fusion dishes, but omg, not only do they get more creative, but they do it by infusing each dish with something akin to a flavor explosion. It was that good :)
Here's our rundown:
- Surf & Turf Rolls - beef and shrimp spring rolls with their sweet house fish sauce. This was SO good and refreshing!! Make sure you balance out your menu selection with a few light and refreshing items so that your meal is more harmonious, this can be one of the refreshers :)
- Truffle Fries - this was one of the first items to come out. Omg. SO good. I think this was some of the best truffle fries I've ever had! The sauce it came with with so good too, all to the very end. Yum.
- Rice Bites - delicious morsels of raw ahi tuna with house tamarind soy glaze topped on a bed of crispy rice. so good. so good. The textures were delicious. I think it was a tamarind soy glaze, but don't remember because that was 30 min ago. I think I need more :)
- Fun Guy - Omg. I did not expect this. A dish came out with a colossal mushroom tower atop a bed of creamy, silken lemon aioli with slices of jalapeno peppers. It was colossal lol. It was also soooooo delicious!! My fiance, who usually doesn't eat with his hands, was so excited to try it that he just grabbed one of the mushroom morsels, dunked it into the lemon aioli, and started chomping at it. So good :) I loved it too!! :)
- Shrimp'n - this was a papaya salad with grilled prawns, one of the lighter dishes in our order. It was so refreshing and delicious! Definitely a must given that our other selections were a bit heavier or punchier/bolder in flavor :)
- Shake'n Beef - Wow. I've never had a shaken beef flavored like this before. I loved it! The special house sauce was slightly tart, I think they used a tamarind base. It was a really unique and delicious interpretation of the classic shaken beef, delicious! :)
- As You Wish - We almost didn't get this dish, but my fiance was like what the heck. Let's try it! Lol. And we're so glad we did! The chicken had a honey soy garlic glaze and rounded out so beautifully with the rough and chewy texture (in a good way!) of the ube sticky rice, pickled carrot and daikon, and house dip. It was so good!! :)
- Golden Mountain - this was kind of reminiscent of a Korean bipbimbap to me because of the Golden eggy mountain and gochujang sauce :) It was also delicious! I loved the inclusion of sauteed veggies, which helped to balance out the bolder and more indulgent runny yolk and morsels of beef :)
- Chocolate Banana Tart - one of our go-to desserts! We've had this multiple times at Breaking Dawn, this one's always a winner :)
- Chocolate Oasis Fondue - so fun!! I loved that they had chocolate fondue here! It was such a beautiful way to end such a fun-filled and delicious evening, dipping fruits and chocolate cake bits into molten chocolate with friends :) Life is good :)
Drinks:
Arnold Palmer - Just a black tea with lemonade, my go-to :)
Sparkling Rose Lemonade - this was pretty epic. I love sparkling water, I love rose, and I love lemonade. What a way to make worlds collide :)
Overall, I didn't rate the dishes individually because basically everything was basically a 5/5 for outstanding :) Beautiful venue, kind servers, amazing food :) The perfect place to have delicious food and make new memories with your loved ones :)
