12 Essential Chinese Restaurants in DFW

"Diners are welcomed into this spot by a window cabinet of Cantonese-style barbecue filled with glossy mahogany skinned roast ducks, amber steamed chicken, a side of crispy-skinned roast pork, and a mountain of red char siu pork loins. Order any of these to graze on with rice, alongside other Hong Kong-style favorites, including fresh shrimp wonton noodle soup and yang chow fried rice." - Courtney E. Smith, Didi Paterno

13 Offal Dishes to Try Right Now In Dallas - Eater Dallas

"This modest Cantonese destination gives local diners a chance to ogle whole ducks and chickens hanging from silver rods slick with marinade while they choose one of the many diverse menu options. There’s even a possibility that an entire pig’s head might be close by. Look no further than number 533 on the menu — this dish of duck feet in black bean sauce is meaty, slightly chewy, and definitely delicious." - Lauren Coe

Google
Your quintessential Cantonese rotisserie. This is one of the best roasted pork belly I’ve had I the Dfw. It was moist and seared all through and most importantly, the skin was consistently thin and crisoy. Unlike other places, here they roast the whole hog. They also have roasted ducks and braised meats. Service was very good and it’s cash only in this location.

kimlovespigs21

Google
Authentic Cantonese food that is mouthwatering, filling, and affordable wig large portion size. I've been coming here ever since I was little and I would keep coming back. I personally feel this location is the best one out of all the locations in DFW. I got the beef flat noodle, seafood stir fried noodle, and combination fried rice. I'm always gonna come back here when I was great Cantonese food.

Google
Absolutely phenomenal experience! This restaurant is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise. The BBQ pork was tender, smoky, and bursting with flavor — perfectly caramelized on the edges with just the right touch of sweetness. The Szechuan beef was a total knockout: bold, spicy, and incredibly savory, with that signature tingle from the Szechuan peppercorns that keeps you coming back for more. On top of the amazing food, the service was top-notch. Our server was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. It’s rare to find a place that nails both the food and the hospitality, but this one does it effortlessly. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes — this spot is officially in my regular rotation!

Google
This experience was very disappointing. The barbecued pork and fried egg rice I ordered looked nothing like photo 2 — they gave me something like photo 1 which was too disgusting; And I ordered a roast duck and roast chicken combo, but they gave me roast duck and pork instead.…… Most importantly, all the chefs are Mexicans, and the taste is completely lacking authentic Cantonese flavor. If you care about authenticity Cantonese flavor, this place is total nonsense. Don't waste your money here.

Google
idk if I order the food that they r not good at cooking or what but this roasted pork and duck rice is terrible. Roasted pork is soggy and what should be crunchy crust turns out to be greasy fat. Roasted duck is the most terrifying one. So many hairs on the skin so gross. Drive all the way from Grapevine to get such terrible food. Very disappointed

Google
Not sure why people review this bad but while no Chinese restaurant in Dallas compares to Asia. If you want good Cantonese food this is a great spot. The orange chicken is killer and soup fish maw is great. The beef with tofu is super good. The fish with tofu is alright. Tried and true Chinese place probably 8.5/10 for Dallas area. 6/10 if we compare to Asia though

Google
Incredibly authentic Cantonese-style dishes! It is cash only, so you must plan for that beforehand. The flavor of each dish was amazing. My parents are Chinese immigrants and demand authenticity when it comes to their food, like we’ve found in LA and Chicago! This place delivers.

Google
March 2025 First review after years of visit. Love the Chinese BBQ, this is the restaurant whenever I craved for Chinese BBQ. Good food landmark of Chinese cuisine in DFW. Recommend highly. Only down side, small parking lot with limited parking spaces.

Yelp
5 star food 4 star service 4 star atmosphere Been going here for years, never a bad meal and the bar-b-q pork is authentic. The Singapore noodles is great as well. Portions are large. There are meal choices fir everyone, even those picky little eaters.

Yelp
Chicken was raw, blood red. Duck had very little meat, even for duck. Chicken soft noodles good. Sesame chicken only 3 pieces of broccoli.

Yelp
This restaurant has racist Chinese people. They will only serve those who are of their own race and will leave you sitting for a long period of time and completely ignoring you. But since it was my son's preference to go there for Father's Day, we stayed. Our food was served cold, and the only redeeming quality was that the busboy was very attentive. Several people got up and left who were Hispanic because they were being ignored like we were. This made me get feisty and make them come over to serve us. It's still took at least 20 minutes before they came. I would only order out from this place. I am Hispanic and have never been treated like this in my entire life! What a disgusting experience in 2024. These Chinese people need to get over themselves. And the funny thing is, while they're doing this to you, they will not give you any eye contact. Oh, and they only take cash.

Yelp
Family dinner and we ordered Chinese broccoli, beef flat noodles, house lo mein, combination fried rice, wonton soup, scallops, roast duck and roast pork and hot tea. Everything was delicious but the fried rice was slightly soft...mushy. I prefer a crispy or harder fried rice. Overall delicious food and I would suggest this small spot with the basics inside. Nothing fancy but good food. When you walk in there is hanging roast chicken, duck and pork like in Chinatown. Loved it.

Yelp
FOOD Fresh Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup BBQ Pork BBQ Pork with Flat Noodles Overall the food is alright. The BBQ Pork was super tasty and the not too sauced. Great flavor and well cooked. I will say that the rice was a bit on the harder side. The wonton soup was alright. Broth was light but a bit blander in my opinion. I didn't personally have the BBQ Pork with Flat Noodles so I cannot say much about that one. Overall gives me the vibe of comfort home Asian food which is nice. Pretty alright food! VIBES This place definitely gives some traditional Asian family diner vibes. The seating is a bit more on the crowded side and the lighting is a tad bit on the darker side. My friend and I went around 3 PM so it wasn't too crowded. Pretty simple as far as interior and seating consists of tables with chairs and booths. SERVICE The food comes out pretty fast. I came with a bit of a sore throat and the waitress was really nice and helped give recommendations for what foods would help soothe it. Overall really nice and sweet.

Yelp
Ruined date night. They only accepted cash and didn't have any signs warning of this until after we ordered. This meant we had to run across the street and withdraw cash from the ATM. Ordered BBQ pork, which was average.
google avatar

Arnold L.

Yelp
This is our go to place for wonton noddle soup for the last 20 yrs. Their Char Siu pork is very good even after reheating the next day. This is a cash only restaurant so be prepared before hand. It's a very mom pop place so nothing fancy in the ambiance. Food comes fast and service is decent.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
PSA: CASH ONLY!!! Growing up my parents always ordered some Chinese BBQ for lazy days they didn't want to cook. I was craving some randomly and searched far and wide on Yelp. This definitely reminds me of the mom/pop places my parents would take me to. Overall thoughts: Pricier than what I'm used to from Chicago. The Chinese roasted pork was average. I'd definitely would not order that again. What a bummer! The Char Siu and roasted duck were good though. The dishes do not come with rice and it was a separate charge. Dishes ordered: 1) Wonton noodle soup: it tasted like the ones in Chicago, and the broth was very flavorful! The noodle dish was generous and had a lot more wontons than I expected 2) Combination Plate: roasted pork, char siu, and roasted duck Service: the ladies here were super nice. They speak English well, but i seized the opportunity t to practice my Cantonese LOL.
google avatar

Tony N.

Yelp
Raw cold roasted pork, not even warm. Skin not even crispy, more like leather skin. The roasted duck is better. Steam rice more like over cooked rice as it was more of a hard texture vs hot and soft. Highly not recommended. This is the 2nd location I been too, first location was at garland, which I also don't recommend. Ordered sesame chicken and it's more of overload sauce with a sour taste. Either way I never coming back here. FYI.. CASH ONLY, yep avoid the IRS man lmao
google avatar

Patrick N.

Yelp
The food was ok, but the stuck-up BBQ meat chopper at the front doesn't even look at the customer when they order the food. His behavior is extremely rude, and be careful when he chopped the meat for you, he will take out all the good parts and only give you the bones. The good parts will be in rice dishes and noodles. It happened to me all the time. So I learned and tell them to give me a whole duck.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Food is yum, they don't take credit cards though. Recommend bbq pork and duck. They can also do the pork and duck over rice, in soup, etc.

Yelp
This is a small place but it was very good. Typical Canto foods: snow pea leaf with garlic sauce, xa xiu, friend rice w lap xuong, walnut shrimps, and more. Food came out fast and was fresh. The service was very quick and they were all very friendly!

Tony C.

Yelp
I'm glad that they now have online order that accept credit cards. No longer having to look for cash. However, just picked up a $100 order but didn't seem like it was worth it as the portions are cut in halves. The young chow fried rice is smaller than most Chinese restaurants lunch portion, and the $18 cheese shrimp didn't have that many shrimp in the box. The food is still good. So, we might give them one more try.

Yelp
We came here for my bday dinner today (on a Saturday night) and had a good, but short of great, experience: Veggies (stir fried sprouts and beans/pork) were excellent, fresh, hot and well seasoned. Whole roast duck was excellent, in spite of being lukewarm. It was chopped in a more skillful way than ever before, moist and delicious BBQ pork was solid, barely warm, and well sauced with the signature sweet orange glaze. Roast pork was cold, with soggy skin and a bit on the dry side, possibly due to a long hang time on the hook between removal from the oven and service time. Overall, the meal was a fine value, about $75 before tip, for a grand buffet of flavorful meat and veggies, which we ate less than half the meat and all the veggies. We will happily return here a few times a year for a Chinese feast.

Yelp
I was in the mood for duck. I usually order from Golden Joy BBQ based on price point & location but they're closed on Thursdays. I did some research to see who was close by & had duck on their menu. Google maps brought me to First Chinese BBQ & I must say I'm glad it did. The duck was delicious, perfectly crispy skin & tender meat. Upon request I also got a side of homemade finger licking sauce to dip the duck in. It was so good I drank some of it lol. The only pain points I have w/them is that you must pay CASH if you order in person & their portion sizes are small when it comes to the protein. Seriously the rice to meat ratio was 4:1. Nonetheless I was satisfied with what I got & look forward to going back to try other things on their menu (and actually dining in). Just be careful when it comes to how many people you ask to accompany you because it's bit smaller on the inside, so seating is very intimate.

Yelp
Some would consider this a hole in the wall place but it's some of the best Chinese I've had in the area. Cash only and great service. Meals are huge and can be served family style.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
The best char sui! I will eat here several times each visit to Plano thank you for such great food and friendly service
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Cash only but the excellent pricing makes up for it. Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in DFW so far. These places all serve the same stuff and are all fairly consistent, but I'd give a slight edge to this one over the others I've tried in DFW. Parking is a little tough to find near the restaurant, but its connected to a pretty big overall lot.

Yelp
This restaurant serves authentic Cantonese food and the atmosphere is just right for what I expected from a ... typical casual Chinese restaurant: no loud music and family meal styles. Majority of the food we got was good and on point, not too salty and was very oily( as expected.... ) This restaurant is cash only. The moment we walked in, the lady in the front wearing mask appears to be quite rude. It's not the language barrier or cultural thing at all. I have interacted with Chinese before and I know she is just plainly not happy with having many customers? Lol anyway, we were sitting in the foyer for quite some time until a waitress came and asked if we needed a table and pointed us to the corner. If you accept the low service quality and can bear their rudeness, this is the place for you. Or just order takeout and eat your food in peace at home vs being reminded about tipping once or twice during your dining. Because this is a Chinese restaurant, mind you too that you cannot avoid msg... it's on everything.

Yelp
This Cantonese restaurant is one of those that been at Richardson for more than 30 years. Kind of a hole in the wall place. Great Cantonese dishes. Has the traditional or movie scene where the ducks and chickens are hanging at the chop stance. We always enjoy our Cantonese cravings there. Please note the ambiance - hole in the wall with roasted chickens and ducks hanging. Great food and service at a very reasonable price.

Jacob K.

Yelp
The food here is delicious and the service is great but one bad thing about this place is the restrooms are dirty but overall this place is great.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
Ordered takeout online via Toast, food was ready for pickup in 30m. Yummy, sizable portions. We had the charsiu pork, wonton noodle soup, beef chow fun, and garlic eggplant. These are my go-to favorites and I think all were done quite well at this place. I would say a great deal for the price point. Not sure why the low stars. Came with complementary rice too.
google avatar

Mary T.

Yelp
You can never go wrong coming here. I have only gotten takeout here at the bbq counter. I have tried their salted chicken, roasted duck, and bbq pork. The bbq meats remind me of the quality and flavors you can find in Hong Kong. The pricing is reasonable. Coming from LA and NY, the food here is definitely priced at a good price. I wish this place accepts credit/debit cards! The parking here can be difficult at times, especially on the weekends. They have many items on their menu I want to try eventually, such as their wonton noodle soup, fried rice, and stir-fried noodles. They have different locations as well, but I have only tried this place. This is a nice Cantonese restaurant to try!

Yelp
Food is tasteless, roast duck still have bunch feather on it,Togo order didn't even pack sauses and chopsticks

Yelp
My co-worker and I were hunting for a simple mom and pop place. Both of us just flew in from out of town for business. This place fit the bill perfectly. My first choice was the roast pork hot pot but they told us that they were out of roast pork so we settled for the seafood hotpot. We also ordered some greens and a mixed plate combo of roast duck and marinated chicken. It all tasted fine although the texture of the chicken was a little off. I can't quite put my thumb on it. I got the impression that the chicken were scraps but I can't say for sure. Take a closer look at the pics and you be the judge. The prices are very reasonable in this post pandemic environment. I grew up on this sort of Cantonese Hong Kong bbq style food so it is comfort food for me. Cash only.
google avatar

Chinsu N.

Yelp
Food is just okay. Services quick and nice. But beware that you have to bring your cash on hand because they don't take credit card. They take cash only. The sign "Cash Only" at cashier counter.

Tony L.

Yelp
They've served great food since I was a kid. Over 25 years of eating here. One of the first Chinese food establishments next to Canton and Kirin Court. Hounded me for tip after I paid. Tipped generously in the past but moneys tighter now. I dont mind helping out but if they think speaking Cantonese and whining about tip will help, they better think again. I'm disappointed. Please do better.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Forgot one of our dishes, when we asked for the bill they said they would make it. At that point we were already done, so they took it off the bill. Didn't realize it would be cash only with no ATM. Was told to go across the street to the gas station. When leaving to go to the car and get more money, I heard them ask my kids where I was going and that they couldn't leave the building. Even though my husband was still at the table with the to-go food. Came back in to pay while two women hovered around, acting like we weren't going to pay. We would never walk on paying the bill, there was no need to tell my kids they can't leave especially when my husband was still boxing up our leftovers.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
We ordered a few dishes. Roast duck, beef with broccoli, crispy noodles, seafood pot, tofu dish and pork bbq and chicken. Our favorite was the duck and the crispy noodles. Just sad that they did not have plum sauce for their roasted duck. The seafood pot was also very good. Our least favorite was the pork bbq. It was too tough. Service was good.
google avatar

Jerron D.

Yelp
The food is excellent, especially the duck! It's to die for, but the service and staff need to work on how they treat patrons. Significantly, the woman at the front cash register. She is rude.
google avatar

Marcella E.

Yelp
Bro this is my fav Chinese restaurant. I absolutely devour this shit. I have been going since childhood and it remains quite delicious. The service is fast and whatever. Ambience is not the best tbh, BUT CUT YOUR LOSSES FOR GOOD FOOD BRUH!!

Ed L.

Yelp
The food was Awsome , we had a party of 10 and everyone had rave comments about their food large portions and fresh golden duck We will be back

Angeline C.

Yelp
Quality of food has gone down. Do not expect any great service in the restaurant especially the one in Richardson.

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Food is great, but customer service is the absolute worst. Came in to place an order and I wanted the combination fried rice but wanted the shrimp on the side since my bf is allergic. The damn lady at the front was like sigh that's too much. Had a whole attitude for no reason. definitely not going back.

An D.

Yelp
Ordered a Sweet & Sour Pork togo, and this is what it looks like. NOT A SINGLE PIECE OF MEAT BUT ALL FAT!!! This is ridiculous and Im not sure if the chef even eats their own food
google avatar

Rene' N.

Yelp
NO! Cash ONLY unless you order online...tried several times to order online, to no avail. Entered establishment, customer service was lacking. Food was..... MEH!
google avatar

Philly T.

Yelp
The bbq items are on point. I dont want to post 85 characters its unnecessary. Ridiculous

Yelp
This place is a stable in Richardson since it was one of the first Chinese restaurants that has been around for forever. It's hit and miss depends on the day but when it's good I do really enjoyed the food. Soft shell crab, crab soup, wonton soup, duck, egg omelet are some of the stables. One thing that always bother me is "it's cash only." It's not often we carry cash nowadays. Wish they change this rule so it's more convenient to dine here.

Ling L.

Yelp
Authentic Cantonese. I had their soy chicken, roast pork, roast duck & beef rice noodles. Could have ordered more if I had enough cash. Cash only.
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
This is one of my family's favorite family-style restaurants to go to. They have big round tables, so it's definitely family friendly or even perfect for a big group. I highly recommend ordering food and doing it family style. The wonton noodle soup is a little harder to share, but it is highly recommended because it is SO delicious. The flavor of the broth is perfect. It also doesn't feel heavy after eating either. I recommend adding the roasted duck and/or bbq pork with it too. The orange beef is also really good. We also like getting the roasted pork. Honestly, the prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous.
google avatar

Kenneth L.

Yelp
Been coming to this place for many years but it keeps getting worst each time. Used to buy the rice dish with duck and roast pork to go and each time when I open the box I get duck bones with with hardly any meat on it ( the back of the duck not the breast) and some scrap roast pork that was remnant of others dishes. So I decide to dine in this today but I got the same thing. BONES and scraps. I'm never going there again.

Grace L.

Yelp
Food is ok everything else is horrible. It's our first time there and the "Cash only" sign was by no means obvious. You can imagine our reaction when we were told to pay cash after we finish our dinner. They should put the sign in an obvious place and give customers a heads up before they start to order. The owner was very rude and asked us to go across the street to get cash from atm. Also the waitress tried to keep all the changes as tips. It made us very uncomfortable.
google avatar

Tee T.

Yelp
Top notch food. Cantonese wonton noodle soup will always be comfort food for me. And having eaten various renditions of it in Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, and NYC, this place's take on it just hits all the right spots and reminds me of childhood. Highly recommended. Here's mine with char sui, roasted duck, and topped up with extra wonton.
google avatar

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for comforting and classic Cantonese dishes. "Oh, long time no see" was the warm greeting I received as I walked in for my takeout. To my right, is the stand of glistening bbq meats and beautifully roasted ducks. And, to my left, the longtime servers waving and welcoming me. Letting bygones be bygones, I know I'm back! Well packed and still hot it was when I served First Chinese BBQ's "Roast Duck", "Seafood Fried Noodles", "Sautéed Pea-pods", and, "Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice" at home. Ignoring the fact that the sautéed pea-pods being over cooked, the familiar taste was there with each and every dish! CHEERS!
google avatar

Deja V.

Yelp
This place is going downhill since and dropping fast. Accept only cash here . The roasted pork doesn't look crispy and well marinated enough by the color of the outside skin. I was right about it since I knew how good a roasted pig skin color will look. It was terrible when we brought it home and the duck was also below average taste. Wouldn't come back here again
google avatar

Chad D.

Yelp
This location is in a tiny strip mall. It's tucked between a foot massage place and a bakery. As you enter you're greeted by their BBQ meats. If you plan to order any of those items be sure to peek in to the meat display to see what's available. One it's gone it's gone. I recommend getting the roast pork, duck and tripe. The roast pork, to me, is way better than the BBQ pork. The skin is super crispy and the meat is moist and flavorful. If you feel the need to have a vegetable with your meal I highly recommend ordering snow pea leaves with garlic. Way better than Chinese broccoli or any other vegetable that you're used to eating. Cash only! BYOB.

Food Dude S.

Yelp
The BBQ pork was some of the best I have ever had. Also had the Mabo, which was average. Portions are massive. I would consider it a hole in the wall type of place, nothing fancy. This will be a go to when I'm in Dallas.

Krista S.

Yelp
Was excited, have heard great things. All the food was MEH. The garlic tofu was dry. BBQ pork was missing. Broccoli was gross, and everything else had to much spice when we asked for none. Will not be coming back.
