"Port Angeles’s top breakfast destination is this narrow downtown diner, which bakes its own cinnamon rolls and serves inventive takes on omelets and French toast, perfect for fueling up before day trips. It’s currently open for takeout only, with the hopes of ramping up to normal service over the next few months." - Matthew Lombardi

Bitter sweet! Sweet: the food, the atmosphere, the coffee and the person that waited our table were amazing! The food tasted great and was fresh/made to order. Definitely recommend the curried egg salad sandwich and their cinnamon roll!!! Bitter: maybe it was just a bad day, but it felt like the owner wasn’t too pleased to help us, starting with trying to get a table, yes we were a big crowd but were more than happy to split ourselves up to not be disruptive. We were told to wait outside and that we would be called when our table(s) were ready, cut to 10 minutes later we have the owner coming out saying “if you don’t come in you loose your table” followed by “find a seat and if you don’t I’ll give it away”.

Visiting PA and read many good reviews about this place. Small inside, we opted to get takeout as we had little ones who would be antsy to move around. Wait wasn’t too bad for a Saturday morning. Great food, had the veggie hash browns with eggs and my husband had the bacon jalapeño popper benny. Loved that they put the hollandaise in a separate container so it didn’t get soggy! Would go again next time we visit!

Small shotgun style restaurant. You can get breakfast or lunch after 11. The bathroom is next door in the Salon. Food was excellent, coffee wa great, service was on top of it.

Pretty small, but business was still running. We got our food within 3 min, I was in a group of three people. And the food was very tasty. Also quite a few options on the menu. The atmosphere was nice, it’s a simple classic American dinner! Very predictable and prices were good!

We’re in Port Angeles hiking in Olympic National Park and this place is everything we wanted it to be and more. Great breakfast food. Incredible service. And home away from home vibes. I could have the shredded hash Browns with the Traditional Eggs Benedict over and over again. The Rachel turkey sandwich hit all the right notes, and the fries would rival any fries out there

Loved it. Favorite place I've visited so far. Excellent service, absolutely delicious breakfast, and most reasonably priced my wife and I have experienced on our trip so far. I ordered the Haven breakfast sandwich with their dark roast coffee, and my wife ordered the veggie omelette with a pecan scone. Where I come from, we have a restaurant called Skillets, and aside from breakfasts made in an iron cast skillet, their specialty is their scone. Haven's scone put theirs to absolute shame. Not only was it triple in size, but the flavor was out out of this world! I had to stop myself from eating it all so I could save room for the main course. The sandwich was really good with the mustard aioli and I enjoyed the potato's. My wife enjoyed her veggie omelette. I had a taste and it was really good with the cream cheese and provolone. Our server was on top of everything and she was taking care of the whole room by herself. No mistakes and was on top of our refills and orders. Normally when I'm visiting, I like to keep trying new restaurants, but I'd be hard-pressed not to come here again tomorrow.

Google
I was blown away by the price and the food! Best hashbrowns I've ever had, and the omelet was so delicious! I will be making this my new breakfast spot and I'm excited to try lunch as well. Thank you for making this affordable and delicious ❤️🔥

Google
Customer service was amazing and our server was great. Eggs Benedict had an issue, the hollandaise was broken as can be viewed in the picture. A good hollandaise is critical to eggs benny. Burger was a bit below par, patties taste from frozen not fresh beef. Fresh beef is critical for a good burger. Disappointing for a $15 burger. Fries are awesome shoe string style . Coffee would be better if served in ceramic mugs to retain heat and not in a glass cup style. I want to say the server we had was amazing. *Edit to the owners response. My goods and great were for the servers that you hired who do a wonderful job but it wasn't about the food that good was good and great. Her attentiveness to our table was very well done. What the kitchen's doing is not her fault. It's not a food blog, it's a review that is honest and fair. I don't want to have to send food back for the fear of retaliation. Whoever's running the pass should be checking each dish before they're served. I would just prefer it to be sent out correctly the first time. I adjusted to two stars because I think maybe I was being a little too harsh but it is a shame you didn't address the fact that the beef is frozen. Also it'd be better if you came up with a system for the types of coffee that didn't affect the heat of what's being served. In&Out can do an all fresh burger and has a price of $7.55 if we are going to speak of competitors. I hope you take my criticisms to do better for the success of your business as that is the intent of my review. It's not to put you down or make you feel bad about what you do but in hopes that maybe you'll improve. It's not regulars you're trying to impress but people who have never been there. Regulars aren't going to rave to their friends and family about somewhere they eat all the time but new people will. Best wishes

Yelp
We don't get to Port Angeles very often but this place is always a great choice for breakfast. This was our second visit and it was just as good as the first, 9 years ago. Sign-in on the clipboard outside and be prepared to wait for your name to be called. Many tables are for 2 so bigger parties are more difficult. Bathrooms are down the block, up a long flight of stairs at the end of the building. Most of the omelets on the menu are in the $17 range but they come with a huge cinnamon bun drenched in a sweet topping. Portions are huge and my wife and I always split one. They will do it for you in the kitchen and bring out 2 plates. Service was great and the coffee is good.

Yelp
We went on a weekend morning where the place was packed. It's a small restaurant anyway, so we got seated on the bar, observing the madness that comes with brunch rush. It was very fascinating to watch and experience. We ordered a hot chocolate and a classic plate of French toast. Everything was so good. We even got a coffee crumble cake and it was a great pairing with the hot chocolate. The place, although chaotic, had a nice warmth to it that we really appreciated.

Yelp
I had lunch at First Street Haven with a friend today. It was the first time there for both of us. Our order was taken promptly, with just the right amount of time to peruse the menu. I got the Irish Breakfast, which was a special since St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow, and my friend got a salad. I love that you can get breakfast at lunch time there. My friend really liked her salad, and I thought the Irish breakfast was phenomenal. We got water refills at the perfect intervals, and our check came just as we were finishing. It's kind of tight quarters, but it wasn't too loud in there despite the fact that they were pretty busy.

Yelp
We were on our way home from Olympic National Park and decided to drop by Port Angeles to get some yummy food before continuing our long drive. The dining area in Haven is very small but charming. The dark green interior paint with rounded wood ceilings that make the space really inviting. We were seated quickly and placed an order with our friendly server. We ordered a biscuit, herb-roasted mushroom omelet with hash browns, and the daily special, shrimp and crab chowder. My favorite items were the savory biscuit and the hash browns. The biscuit was airy, soft, and buttery. It was sooo good with the whipped butter. While the hash browns were cooked to a crisp on top while the potato strands were cooked al dente; very yummy indeed! The only item I am not accustomed to is the chowder. It's not like the thick New England chowder I am used to, which is perfectly fine. I have tried many thin chowders in my life and liked them. This soup was delicious with chunks of crab and shrimp. However, the thick smell of fish sauce overwhelmed my senses and I couldn't escape it. Besides that, everything was really enjoyable. Overall, I love this small restaurant which serves really delicious food. Next time, I am going to get their biscuit (again) and the eggs Benedict with hash browns. Yes, that's what I am going to do.

Yelp
This was a good breakfast place! It was super busy at 10 in the morning on a Saturday but that's to be expected. We waited about 30 minutes. The place itself was cute! I liked the decorations, and though it was pretty small, it didn't feel cramped. Our server was kind and attentive despite how busy it was, which we really appreciated. Especially since we had our 18 month old son with us. Now onto the food: I ordered the French toast and hot chocolate. If you love cinnamon, you will love this French toast. I thought it was too heavy on the cinnamon so I wouldn't order it again. The hot chocolate, however, was amazing! My husband ordered the Garden Scramble. He loved it and couldn't say enough good things about it! Which was impressive, because he typically channels Ron Swanson when we go to breakfast places-if it doesn't haven bacon, he won't order it! He also got the peach scone and it was pretty good! Scones tend to be pretty dry, and this one was. The flavor was great, though. We got our toddler Honey Nut Cheerios and fruit. He loved it, and the presentation was so cute! Overall, I would go here again! I would order something other than the French toast or a scone, but everything else we would get again.

Krys G.

Yelp
This was our first stop of the day for some breakfast. We got a table right away. Our order came up pretty fast once we put it in. The breakfast was a big portion. All the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. Coffee was very strong and had a big kick. The restaurant is on the small side with a few tables. Bathroom was located just in the kitchen in a weird spot. But at least they had one. Would definitely come back.

Tanner R.

Yelp
Man this place was a good surprise. Was thinking it may be a bit boujie for me, and it was, but there's no complaints here about anything. The food was great, the service stupendous, and the atmosphere was calming! We got the special which was unlike anything I've ever had. Because I'm writing this a week after I had it as I have returned from vacation, I do not remember the name of the item, but it was like a casserole cooked breakfast dish that had pesto on top. Scared me to order, but I'm so glad I did. Also there fresh scones may be the best I've ever had!

Yelp
I visited with 2 young kids. Delicious food, helpful staff, and an intimate environment

Julie B.

Yelp
Very petite bijou restaurant (was it a bar in a former life?) Food was very tasty and just the right portion sizing. Service was friendly. Recommend you give it a visit!

R A.

Yelp
The omelet was good and had lots of the listed components inside. The salmon plate dish was good. I like it that the don't skimp on the toast. The hashbrowns are very good and its nice to see someone in this town knows haw to grill them! I am talking hashbrowns not the other " everyone has home fry potatoes". The service is good and efficient. The seating is cramped and counter seating is not very comfortable or spacious. But if your a smaller person and don't mind the counter, its the place to eat at. Watching the orders come out, there seems to be plenty of food on the plates! Prices are typical for these days. Sorry, there is no more 10.00 breakfast places any more.

Diala A.

Yelp
We got there just in time before closing (they had an early close because they were short staffed). However, the service was still efficient and our server was very friendly! Both my boyfriend and I enjoyed our brunch entrees in the quaint ambiance of the restaurant. We both ordered savory meals but the sweet options like their waffles and French toast were very tempting!

Crystal T.

Yelp
One of my favorite vacation breakfast stops! Every meal is a 10, and their baked goods are out of sight. Servers are friendly and fast. A perfect meal in every way, every time!

Gary L.

Yelp
Little place on First Street with ridiculously good food. Ambiance is okay, the service is fabulous, but the foods are the stars of the show here. Sat down and our waitress brought us menus, and asked if we wanted coffee "yes please" "Do you want regular drip or dark roast?" What? A choice of what coffee we wanted? We took the dark roast, and it was delicious. The apple bacon omelette was unbelievably good, served with smashed roasted potatoes and a pastry (which ended up being one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had! My wife also had an omelette (Bacon and goat cheese with mushrooms tomatoes and spinach) equally delicious and also stuffed with the same delicious bacon that my omelette was stuffed with. Service was efficient, and somehow relaxed at the same time, and I left wishing we could somehow come back to Port Angeles just for another breakfast like this one.

Katherine S.

Yelp
Amazing!! Love this place. It's small with character and the food is fantastic and the staff are so friendly. It's a little on the pricier side, but I think it's worth it. I think it was the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Roasted tomato & garlic over melted bree cheese with tangy hollandaise sauce. The egg was poached perfectly and the hash browns were crispy perfection. All the staff were friendly to us and you could see them smiling and joking with each other, it seems like they enjoy working here. We just had a really great experience and felt good vibes from this place! Definitely recommend if you're craving brunch.

Jacque C.

Yelp
Described by our hotelier as a 'little hole in the wall with terrific food.' She was right. Small, warm and friendly, we popped in for a Sunday morning breakfast before heading back to Seattle. Service was fast, informed and friendly, and we settled in. We all had traditional breakfasts. I opted for the waffles which were amazing big and fluffy with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. Eggs were perfectly cooked. The specials on the board were tempting enough to call us back on our next trip.

Katarina W.

Yelp
This place was amazing! Hands down recommend it. Don't even overthink it, just go here immediately. We had heard that the space inside was pretty cramped so we ordered takeout and it was some of the best breakfast ever. I got the goat cheese and bacon scramble, it had so much flavor. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and crunchy and delicious. It also came with a GIANT blueberry scone that was sooo tasty. My husband got the Jalapeno Popper Benedict which was also absolutely amazing. And we got a berries and cream waffle that was sooo tasty. The only thing I wish is that they had a kids menu to go, they said they wouldn't do kids items to go, which I get that some people may take advantage of but it was hard because we had two kids under 5 and had to get a full $15+ entree. But aside from that, HIGHLY recommend this place. Absolutely amazing. Best breakfast in Port Angeles.

Yelp
Hello my fellow French toast constituents, First street has knocked it out of the park, triple play home run touchdown. Service was excellent and they even made my smokin hot wife a French toast latte. The only complaint was a slightly smaller portion size, but the service and ambiance were so good it made up for it. We came on a snowy day when PA was completely shut down, but first street haven took us in and gave us a nice warm meal, something quite uncommon in this cold cold world full of evil. Here is the obligatory French toast rating: Portion size: 7 Flavor: 9 Texture: 9 I'll keep it short because my jacked husband has perfectly summed up our experience. I got the eggs Benedict with ham and hollandaise. The hollandaise sauce stole the show! I find that a lot of places make it very heavy and it can overwhelm the plate but First haven made a perfect blend. Portion size: 8 Flavor: 9 Texture: 9 P.s. did you guys here about the tunnels under that synagogue in New York ? Funny stuff.

Julie B.

Yelp
We'd go back! Pros: food is cooked perfectly. Staff is friendly. Menu is reasonably priced, especially for the quality ingredients and local options. Cons: super small space. Food took a bit, however they were slammed and there were five of us so I was not upset. I had the veggie hash browns with two eggs on top, kiddo had the French toast with berries and whipped cream. The hash browns were excellent - crispy, with a great blend of veggies on top. The salsa that came with it had great fire-roasted flavor. Kiddo's French toast was fluffy, however they forgot the berries and cream. This was fixed fast and with a smile and I was happy. So was kiddo when she tasted her food!

Priya D.

Yelp
Super cute breakfast place, great service and delicious food is why they got 5 stars from us. Highly recommend!

Erin M.

Yelp
Delicious food! Sweet little spot. I had the traditional breakfast: eggs over hard, wheat toast, veggies sausage patties, and roasted potatoes. So filling couldn't finish it all. My friend had the blueberry banana scone and the garden omelette. Great food all around!

Rhubarb S.

Yelp
As a local, I'm a bit hesitant to share this 5 Star Breakfast and Lunch spot because I want it all to myself! It's a small slice of Heaven (see what I did there?) and worth a wait if there is one. Friendly, quick service. The rotating and inspired specials keep things extra interesting. Yummy every time. It's one of the only spots in town I don't tire of visiting. Vegetarian options: There's always several delicious veggie options as one of the owners is a veg-head. Kid-friendliness: High chairs and kid-friendly staff.

Jerry R.

Yelp
Neat little place with super fun staff and great food! Four of us out-of-state travelers for breakfast ordered a variety of food, all of which was delicious. If you're a breakfast potato fan give their restaurant special hash brown concoction a try-really good!

Dee M.

Yelp
We got the chorizo huevos rancheros, veggie hash brown and salmon omelette. We also got the cherry coffee cake and mixed berry cupcake. My favorites were the chorizo eggs and the cherry coffee cake. The staff is super nice and the restroom is very clean too!

Clay M.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stopped here on our trip. Low-key environment, fast, service, and GREAT food The salmon grilled cheese, cheeseburger, and the Haven potatoes were amazing! Housemade ranch and aïoli were delicious bonus

Steve H.

Yelp
Nothing to complain about here! Showed up for a late-ish breakfast, got seated right away, received prompt courteous service, and enjoyed a delicious meal! It's a small space and tables are somewhat tightly packed, but it didn't detract from the experience. Everything was spot-on and service was efficient. Every chai latte should be poured so generously!

Gigi M.

Yelp
Service? TOP NOTCH! Menu offerings? WOW! Something for everyone! We're vegetarians and we had multiple choices, what a treat! The flavors were FANTASTIC and we can't wait to go back! Thanks Haven.....those crispy hash browns are to DIE FOR!!!

Monica C.

Yelp
A narrow restaurant with a wide menu. Fluffy french toast, loads of berries and thick bacon. You'll need patience because they're busy, and you'll need an appetite to finish the food.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Delicious little breakfast spot in Port Angeles. Located by a local grocery market, book store, shops and more. There were so many items that look great that I had a hard time deciding what to get but I ultimately settled for a sausage and broccoli scramble special with blackberry scone and their special smashed fried potato. There was nothing left on my plate. Waiting staff was very attentive even with a steady crowd. Bathroom is located through the kitchen, which is a bit strange, but kitchen staff were understanding and accommodating. I bookmarked this restaurant for future trips visiting Olympic National Park.

Mark B.

Yelp
Breakfast ride from Sequim. This popular and cozy restaurant reminds me of the delicious restaurants in New York City. Great service, full menu, large and tasty food. We will be returning.

Sasha K.

Yelp
The person who took our order must have been having a bad day, looked angry, looked away when speaking to me. Brought dark coffee instead of medium one. Called me "sir". I am also hard of hearing, and I am sorry for thinking you said "sugar hash browns", that's why I asked you to repeat what you said, not because I was trying to ruin your day. You need to pay better attention to customers. I am visiting Port Angeles for a couple of days, and one of those days didn't start right, so "thank you". The food was ok. Too much butter on my English muffins, had to blot it with a napkin. The rest was nothing fancy: eggs, potatoes and sausage, so, thankfully, nothing to screw up. The hash browns were actually good. I hope the $8 tip was ok on a $42 breakfast. We're here to please you.

Janell O.

Yelp
Yay! I'm putting my hands together for the BEST meal we had on the ONP - an unexpected breakfast stop on a chilly Thursday morning on our way to Seattle. We ended up here because ALL of the other breakfast places we tried to stop were closed. We got the last table in this tiny haven (the name does not lie). It was cozy and clear that some serious love is put into this food! - Instead of toast you have the option of a home baked treat - who does this!? I ordered a Belgian waffle and I cannot tell you if I've ever had a fluffier, crisper, tastier waffle and I'm an East Coast diner girl! I added a side of bacon which was pricey but well cooked. My husband opted for a country scramble w/ home fries and a berry coffee cake - so hearty, so good. Our waitress was a delight and they certainly can do a lot out of this little place. I am so happy all of our other attempts fell through and we ended up here - lesson learned that it would be the 1st choice.

Angelica L.

Yelp
we were on our way from victoria, canada to the sol duc hot spring resort and needed a quick but filling bite before the days activities. there were few local places, and first haven was the first we saw close by & we highly recommend giving it a try! the service was quick and friendly, the food was both very delicious and filling (we were a huge fan of the cinnamon roll). the atmosphere was well decorated and welcoming. highly recommend to anyone wanting a fulfilling and affordable bite to eat. -a + k

S W.

Yelp
Amazing waffle with whip and berries. The salad was fresh and crispy. Even though it was beyond busy, our waitress did a great job with keeping our water full and checking on us. Egg and veggie sausage good. Blueberries scone amazing!

Dave L.

Yelp
Our best dining experience in Port Angeles. We came for breakfast on a Monday. We arrived just before the rush. It was great timing. I ordered the traditional breakfast with sausage and eggs over medium. Everything was perfectly cooked. My son had French toast, eggs, and sausage. He ate every bite. Service was friendly and efficient. There were three servers working, and they are a great team. This place is small, so I am sure they get backed up regularly. You should get there early if you can. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular. Highly recommended.

Ken C.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service. Mushroom with herbs with bollanaise sauce was very flavorful. Good strong dark coffee. Highly recommended.

Joshua P.

Yelp
Food Service Ambience The smoked salmon grilled cheese was unreal. So was the avocado chicken. The service was timely and helpful.

Brianna A.

Yelp
My absolute favorite breakfast spot in Port Angeles! This is the second time we've been here & it is amazing! Great quality & the portions are big. My favorite are the homemade scones!

Mark W.

Yelp
I are at First Street Haven for the first time today. What a treat! Beautiful space and attentive waitstaff. First class joint. I can't wait to go back.

J.J. J.

Yelp
Enjoyed a very nice lunch. Burger and fries were very good - sizable portions which is uncommon these days. Homemade ranch dressing with a touch of pesto was a pleasant surprise too. Waitstaff was very pleasant. A delightful cafe - highly recommend.

Seth W.

Yelp
Delicious food. Friendly staff. Quaint location and feel. Doesn't have a tourist feel at all. If I was a local this is where I'd be.

Crystal J.

Yelp
Was looking for a place to get a sandwich and salad that was a bit more unique than meat and bread. So many things on the menu sounded good I had a hard time deciding . Ultimately chose the special, which was crab salad and fried green tomatoes BLT - it was SO good! Will definitely eat here again!

Corinne G.

Yelp
I love this place! Hubby and I frequently go here when we are in/around Port Angeles and want a good breakfast. The food is consistently terrific. But THIS time, it was OVER THE TOP. I ordered something I've never seen -- the Jalapeno Popper Benedict! I mean, is that even LEGAL? It's just what it sounds like: bacon-wrapped, cream cheese stuffed jalapenos on an English muffin, perfectly poached egg and Hollandaise. For me, it's EXTRA Hollandaise because...do I really need to spell that out? Hubby shared it with me because you can't do a half order. He thought his jalapeno was too spicy, so I was the happy recipient of his second one. I thought it was perfect; zippy, flavorful, bacon...so unique and so tasty! It's almost worth going to PA JUST to stop at the Haven. It really was that good. So, for me, it's just another reason why I love this place. You really need to check it out!

Mike T.

Yelp
Stopped by here at noon on our way to Forks. Cute little cafe with limited seating. Super friendly staff. Since it was noon we were able to get seated right away. I had the smoked salmon Benedict and it was awesome! My daughter loved her Belgium Waffle. The coffee was really good as well.

Chrisee T.

Yelp
Great Gem! Well cooked, amazing coffee and ask about scones and rolls, they have yummy treats not in menu get there early it packs in quick, as it's a smaller place

Todd C.

Yelp
Yum. Excellent strawberry rhubarb polenta waffle. Side of coffee cake. Wonderful service. Busy, come early.

Marcie K.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast. Menu has lots of traditional items and several unique options. My wife and I both had the jalapeño popper Benedict with hash browns. Everything was prepared perfectly. Restaurant is tight with about two too many tables, but it's only a small bruise on our experience. Chairs are usable for larger bodies - no arms.

Nasheli A.

Yelp
The waffles were amazing. Soft and sweet with the strawberry and cream. Would like to come back again here. The service was great, friendly staffs. It is small restaurant, but it's so cute.

Bruce W.

Yelp
The best breakfast place in Port Angeles which is saying a lot because there are multiple good breakfast places. Really great selections, nice portions and friendly service. All you could ask for and more.

Mrs S.

Yelp
This is a tiny hole in the wall and it is always packed so prepare for a wait, however the food is worth it. The staff is perfectly orchestrated in the the small hallway dining. The daily specials are yum, along with the scones.

Kathy N.

Yelp
We went twice for breakfast in one week. Huevos were great and fresh. French toast was also yummy. Dark roast coffee is very good. Haven potatoes and bacon are excellent. Service was very good. They get busy so be patient. It is worth the wait.
