Google
I love First Watch. The food is always amazing. I haven't had a bad dish yet. The drinks are amazing! Especially the Purple Haze. The Million Dollar Bacon is some of the best bacon you'll have. The vibes are chill, the staff is great and the food is prepared in a timely fashion. Their seasonal menu will keep you coming back to see what's new.

Google
Yummy! Lots of juices and dishes I want to try next time. If paying by card, scan QR code on check or go to cash register.

Google
One can tell by the taste of the food, the energy in the room, or the expressions on the faces of the people eating what the culture is in an establishment. This place hit the mark in all mentioned. Great food, great energy and happy patrons. Great job team!! We will be back

Google
Really nice place. Brussel hashbrowns were just ok . Little salty, burnt & Brussel sprout so very hard.. waits very kind but slow . But, totally would come back. Very nice selection.

I just became aware of this First Watch. I have dined with them in Colorado many times. I ordered breakfast and coffee. It does not compare at all to the fare in CO. Lacking any flavor. Presentation is great. Potatoes looked yummy. No flavor. Mushrooms, eggs and onions were just bland. Whole grain toast was delicious. Coffee just warm. My waiter was very friendly and professional. Atmosphere, high ceilings with so-so decor. Lots of waited open space.

Google
I've been loving this place. Super tasty and don't leave feeling like I need to hit the treadmill for an hour. Pancakes are money (blueberry and pumpkin). The Brussels hash put me in heaven. And the fresh juices are lovely. The morning meditation slaps and so does the kale tonic, just in a different way. Oh and the servers know what's up.

Google
Elenni is a breath of fresh air! Super competent and relentlessly pleasant each time she serves us. Oh and the Cobb Salad also keeps us coming back. I’m a super fan of the table-side coffee pot that I can control my hot portions.

Google
My first time at the Royal Oak First Watch, and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the service was great and it was clean and inviting. There was plenty of seating, so there was no wait when we got there. I will definitely love to check them out during the different seasons to see what the menu looks like ☺️

Yelp
I came here many weekends last year because I loved the food and service. Sadly, after today's experience, I will not be returning. Neither will my friend, who, after eating her club sandwich, put a forkful of salad to her mouth, only to find a maggot crawling from it! This instantly killed our appetites. We had already overlooked things such as the outside of the dishes being dirty, as if someone had put vodka sauce on their hands before handling them and didn't wipe it off. The color didn't match any of the ingredients in our dish. The portions were smaller, the bartender gave us a hard time when we tried to order a drink while we waited, and the service was not as good as I remember. But a maggot?! These are grounds to call the Department of Health on them! Who wants to leave a dining experience feeling squeamish? We both questioned whether or not we had unknowingly eaten some. It was repulsive. I needed to take a nap and restart the day. You get the picture. Buyer beware!

Yelp
Large inside with many tables for Seating. Seated right away for lunch. The waitress was super friendly. I got the half ham and gruyere cheese and tomato basil soup. The soup needed croutons and parmesan cheese. It came with two packages of saltine crackers. The bread for the sandwich was outstanding and the mustrd saice rhe best part. The breakfast tacos on their holiday menu sounded amazing. I definitely want to go back for those. It was quite chilly. Wish i had worn a heavier sweater. Wrapped my jacket around me to stay warm. Tip: you pay at the counter up front.

Brandon W.

Yelp
Didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by First Watch. Simple layout and design, great staff and the wait is never too long. I wouldn't say the food blows you away, but definitely an above average breakfast spot for me. I stick with the Farm House Skillet w/ Turkey Sausage, Belgian Waffle and the Watermelon Refresher or Purple Haze. Very good.

Hildegarde A.

Yelp
Our servers name is Harold. He was attentive, knowledgeable and has an amazing personality! He made my sister's birthday breakfast awesome!!!! The establishment is very clean.

Jarod B.

Yelp
The Tuscan frittata was delicious, and the service was great. The ambiance was also great!

Raven W.

Yelp
I've had this place booked marked for sometime now. It was busy when I arrived. It was just me. I was able to sit at the bar. The chair were pretty close to eat other. The service was good as well as the food. I liked the inside as well. I'll be back.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
The food tastes good, but the kids meal side of fruit is a joke. A garnish in a dish. The menu item is listed as "a half portion of our fluffy Belgian waffle served with fresh fruit and your choice of bacon or sausage." Here's a picture of the side of fruit. Feels like a rip off. Tried calling right after we picked up our order to address it with the staff. No one answered the phone. Surprising because in all my previous interactions the staff has been attentive, courteous, and professional. Today feels out of character. Update (from two stars to four): First Watch customer care reached out and eventually the store manager as well. They offered a coupon for our next service. Unfortunately we are no longer in the area and were unable to take advantage, but I appreciated management's attempt to rectify the situation.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Food and service were great even when very busy. They handle the rushes very well without a hitch

Ericka B.

Yelp
We came on mother's day which is probably bad decision number one. This place was packed with an hour wait. We were able to get two seats at the bar in 10 mins so we opted for that route. This is our first time here so super excited. After 20 mins we finally got yo place a drink order. We started with mimosas. Not cold at all, insert sad face. The wait time to place a food order was crazy. The wait time to get water after placing the food order, even crazier. The wait time to receive food.... let's not even talk about it. What I observed was the lack of efficiency and focus. You could tell this staff just isn't prepared to effectively multi task and stay on task during busy periods. The girl working the bar area, while nice, was very scattered. She was forgetting everything. The people at the small bar area are requesting the same things multiple times. They have these beautiful menu boards with specials written in chalk. when i questioned an item I was told to ignore those boards and only order what's on the paper menu. well why is it here then?? Ordered my eggs over easy on the hash and received a hard fried egg after waiting 45 mins (sigh) Receive our food bill and it's double charged for mimosas that the bartender specifically made us pay for up front (double sigh). Another 15 minute wait to get her to fix the bill, had to remind her because as mentioned she's scattered. This place just needs a strong manager presence up front to help keep things flowing on days like this. I want to love this place. The service was just sooooo lack luster that it's difficult to justify going back.

Sam F.

Yelp
Pretty good. Always busy. gravy for biscuits and gravy is made of turkey . Kind of a letdown.

Michelle D.

Yelp
This location is ok. It's located near the hospital, so it's a good place to grab breakfast after night shifts. They have their regular menu, but also seasonal stuff. The food was ok. Not bad, but not great either. I wish they dressed their greens, though. The side of leafy greens on my frittata was literally plain greens--seemed fresh out of the box. I mean, it's fresh, but I wish they at least dressed it with lemon juice or something for some flavor. Decent portions. Personally, not my number-one go-to for brunch places, but at the same time, I'm happy to have such a convenient place near the hospital. The service was nice, though. I think the service is the best thing about this place..

Tee J.

Yelp
10/29/24 through doordash order! are you kidding me first watch!? on woodward in royal oak, mi please beware of this establishment!! my sister just sent me video of a green maggot-worm like bug crawling from her sandwich after a few bites!! who knows if she may have eaten one or two or three!!!?? do not eat here for your healths sake! a health inspection needs to be conducted asap! this is beyond crazy!!

Kelly T.

Yelp
Love this location! We've been there twice now, both yummy and delish. Last time, I had the farmhouse skillet, with deliciously seasoned potatoes, crispy bacon, and 2 perfectly cooked eggs. I added mushrooms with no problem. My partner had the chickenchita omelet, covered with yummy hollandaise. Service has been top notch, our food came quickly, and the freshness and seasoning were perfect. We went early (9am) on Sundays, so no crowd issues. This location is airy and bright, and bigger than it looks. We will definitely be back.

Jack T.

Yelp
Your average first watch. Good service and clean location. Not that many big party seating. Def worth joining the waitlist

Sarah M.

Yelp
BASICS: 4/5 -Free parking, short walk -No wait for seating -Uncrowded table spacing -Area under table had debris (food, napkin bits, crayons) SERVICE: 3/5 -Forgot drinks -Didn't offer box for leftovers -Brought check without having to ask FOOD/BEVERAGES: 3.5/5 -Water was so chlorine-y it was undrinkable, which made the fact that it was served in glasses hot to the touch a secondary point. Warm chlorine water: very pool-themed! -Carnitas breakfast quesadilla: good flavor but carnitas was on the dry side -Tres leches French toast: excellent, especially the whipped cream -First Watch potatoes (side): bland without added salt, but good crispiness on seared edges -Coffee: was given a pot for the table () but very bitter even compared to hospital coffee ()

Yelp
We had a very good experience at this location. I do prefer it over the Troy one. Went there on Friday morning to get some breakfast and we were sitted on the nice patio. Our server was very attentive and made sure our modifications were met. I'm not a fan of their coffee, it tastes sour to me and one thing I noticed and was always very appreciative was the vegan Silk creamer. It's gone and was replaced by a cheap alternative that is not vegan! It's very confusing since there is dairy free note on the package but then it says: contains milk. This is a bummer and I'm very disappointed in First Watch for doing that. Our breakfast dishes were good and fresh, although the chorizo omelet had barely any chorizo in it. My avocado toast was good, I really like their bread a lot. Other than some minor disappointments I can say it was a pleasant experience at this location.

Yelp
Stopped in for brunch with my cousin after a doctor's appointment. I had been craving pancakes and decided to give the lemon ricotta ones a try. OMG they were so good. The lemon curd is a bit sweet so I didn't add syrup but they were so fluffy and flavorful. The turkey sausage were bland and I wouldn't order again. My cousin got the traditional breakfast and said it was very tasty. Service was fast and friendly. I didn't take a pic of my honey caramel crunch ice coffee. It tasted like a snickers bar, I hope it becomes a regular item on the menu.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Seasonal Shrimp and Grits! I always order this dish when it makes the menu. The blistered tomatoes and sausage takes it up a notch

Dawn V.

Yelp
Love that there is outdoor seating at this location and staff/service very good here as well I've had a 5-star breakfast, which I think is what First Watch does best, no matter which location you visit. The healthy bowls, the pancakes, the juices- all wonderful Lunch is just ok at FW Had the time ago soup - Friend had the soup and arugula salad. It's ok- especially in comparison to the breakfast items. Not bad but I wouldn't order them again What is great is that they serve those brunch cocktails all day long! and they have a lot of vegetable juice & vodka combos so you can feel good about drinking your greens

Kai C.

Yelp
This was my first time at the Royal Oak location. The staff were thorough and kept us informed of the wait time. I was with a party of 6. They kindly sat us at our table before the whole party arrived. Our orders came out in a timely manner. Everything was perfect. The million dollar bacon is worth it! I ordered the biscuits with turkey sausage gravy and I was not disappointed. The seasoned potatoes are delicious as well. If you enjoy a cocktail with your brunch (and love sweet) I recommend the cereal milk drink. It's has a little cold brew coffee in it. This is a place that I highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Drake L.

Yelp
I did not enjoy sitting by the kitchen because all I could hear was this dark skin man with glasses and a chain on with a lock in the kitchen swearing, being very childish and inappropriate and extremely loud. I also heard him say "omg there kids in here, but what do I care" and I could barely hear my girlfriend talking. Management should get onto him right away for his behavior. He should be considerate of the customers around him. All around environment was terrible.

Amy B.

Yelp
I don't get to Royal Oak as much as I would like due to parking, but since this shopping center opened at 13 mile and Woodward, I'm loving this corner. I was in the area and needed breakfast stat, and since it's easy in, easy out here, I flew in as fast as I could to get some food. Mind you, I've had First Watch before, so even though it's my first time at this location, I've had many visits to them over the years. It was a Saturday morning so the place was jamming, but surprisingly, the wait wasn't to bad. Since it was just me, I opted for a spot at the bar, so that helped to speed it up. The staff here's super friendly and efficient, which makes all the difference in how well things go at these breakfast spots, especially on the weekend. They were extremely organized, friendly and made a potentially stressful situation extremely easy to navigate for me. The lady working at the bar was very efficient and even though I had to ask for a menu, she was great at getting me what I needed. I went with the Chicken chimichanga breakfast thingy, and asked to get it with no Chorizo. She was more than happy to accommodate and even offered me extra chicken instead. She mentioned it may take a bit longer since the place was super busy, but I was okay with that. The food came out and it was fabulous! I ate just about everything, and it even came with a little fresh food cup. I also got a canister of water which was great since I was dying of thirst. Overall this place rocks, and I will gladly return in the future.

Yelp
My friends and I started going to First Watch about 4 months ago. I liked their breakfast menu, and we've always had a good experience. Every month, our ladies luncheon group have a rotation of restaurants we each choose for our monthly gathering. I chose First Watch in Royal Oak, because I thought it was a nice place to eat out, but this day proved wrong. I got my usual breakfast. Pancakes/no butter, turkey sausage, and hashbrowns with cheddar and onions. The pancakes had butter on them, but mistakes happen, and the young lady took them back. The potatoes came first. They were old, with a tiny bit of dried up onions. I took them back to the manager who was also working the kitchen area. The pancakes came back with better hashbrowns, but they were the same pancakes, with the butter removed {probably with napkins of a towel. I knew because the middle was still saturated from the butter. Before I took them back to the kitchen area, I flipped them over, only to find chocolate smeared over the plate under the cakes. Back to the kitchen I took them to complain, only for the manager to say it was something off of the griddle. I wiped some of it up with my finger to show that it was definitely chocolate. The had my pancakes on a dirty plate and lied to keep from making more cakes. I asked to speak to a manager, not knowing that was the manager herself lying to me. I have a heart condition which prevent me from ingesting caffeine in any form, and could have had a bad reaction for their neglegence. Oh, the cold sausage went back as well, only to be given back to me still cold. She, the manager, came when I ask to see one, and gave me a $20 gift card, which I used to pay for that meal. The real problem was, it was close to closing time and I had the audacity not to accept old dried up food and pay for it. In a nutshell, I will never darken the doorstep of that establishment again, although the ladies I was with received their food without issues. I only gave it 2 stars because of my previous experience. At the top of this review, there is a generated title stating, "Could've Been Better", but I say, the only thing that would have been worse is, HAD I EATEN THAT CHOCOLATE FROM THAT DIRTY PLATE UNKNOWINGLY, I COULD HAVE ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL! TERRIBLE SERVICE

Steve W.

Yelp
Terrible service!!! Sunday , not really busy, but lack of staff. Still waiting after 45 m and told it will be another 10-15m!!! Normally good here...but not coming back here ever again.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Pro tip: go on the website to get in line prior to going to the restaurant! The website will tell you the estimated wait time. I got in line from home and once we were at the restaurant we were sat in 5 minutes. We went to the Royal oak location which was very busy but the staff was awesome and parking is easy! Everyone was still kind and accommodating although busy. The food was fantastic! The shareable bacon wasn't worth the hype however the oatmeal and muffin were top notch! The drinks were also great! With the mimosas you get a glass with your juice and the small champagne bottle to pour at your leisure. Will be back when in town.

Nay W.

Yelp
There is a line! Recommend checking in online/joining the waitlist. Online menu has seasonal meals which may not be available once in restaurant. Food is good. Drinks are individually packaged as opposed to being made per glass. It is annoying waiting in line to pay so you can leave. That's also where check-in/reservations are made.

Melinda E.

Yelp
Food is amazing ! Coffee is fresh, and service is prompt . There is a bit of a wait & they didn't have the drink I wanted to try but overall this place is a gem. I visited from Nevada and come to Michigan often so I will definitely be returning. The chickichanga is to die for. It's a good atmosphere for families and/or friends meeting up or a first date .

Kaela K.

Yelp
When moving to the metro Detroit area, I was surprised to see that they had a first watch. I had only been to the locations in Sarasota and Indianapolis. This location is trendy, lively, and a little smaller than the others that I have been to. My sister and I got donut bites, that were pumpkin flavored during the fall season. These were very good. Although I was not a fan of the dipping sauce flavors. Additionally, this is one of the more rare places that actually has a salmon eggs Benedict. It's okay - Wow the salmon and ingredients taste fresh, The flavor overall is bland and the bread is a little too thick for my liking. Overall, I think this restaurant is good, but it always just misses the mark on flavor the two times I have gone.

Ethan H.

Yelp
Really impressed with the atmosphere, size of the menu, and sheer quality of the food. I've ordered a bunch off the menu and nothing has disappointed. Happy and kind staff as well.

Tamica J.

Yelp
The food and ambiance was ok. The server Quay could have been more friendly and on top of service. We had to ask for her to remove dishes, and for a to go bag. Otherwise, prices were reasonable and it wasn't too crowded thanks to people probably starting their Christmas shopping.

Marissa C.

Yelp
I came here with some work friends just before our shift and the food was great! Would definitely recommend the bacon! It was the perfect amount of salty and sweet and satisfied that bacon craving. The salad I had was also very good, great portion sizes! Other members of my party also had great experiences but service was a little lacking. Overall they tended to us well but it was difficult to ask any follow up questions to staff when they arose. Ambience can only be described as 'good vibes only.' Overall, would recommend just have to be a little more assertive to get questions asked.

Vernon B.

Yelp
It was good. It took me about 6 times to get into the place. Either they were closed or a long wait. I guess I expected more since the place is always busy. I ordered the barbacoa quesadilla Benedict. It tasted better than it looked. Not to mention is was a very small portion. It looked as though it was just slapped on the plate (see photo). I got there a little after 2:00 and they close at 2:30. Maybe they were in a hurry to get out of there. I always give a place 2 shots to empress me. The first didn't. Maybe they can redeem themselves on my second visit.

Julie A.

Yelp
On a Friday around 11:30a, we were seated immediately. We ordered within 5 minutes and had coffee or water in no time. Unfortunately, the OJ we ordered never came. The food took about 40 or so min to arrive. We ordered a blueberry pancake with turkey sausage and the Tri-fecta- 2 eggs, waffle or pancakes and choice of sausage. The dishes did NOT come out together. The 2nd was about 7 minutes later. Still had to wait for my eggs which came out a couple minutes later. That was a bit of a let down. It's clear there was a struggle in cranking out orders in the kitchen. However, the food was great!! A delicious brunch! Unless you hit this place at the right time, this may be a spot to order and pickup.

Joy A.

Yelp
Seated pretty quickly but we were not told that the kitchen was backed up. Waited an hour to get our food. When mine came the pancake was overcooked. My moms meal was fine. Manager gave us gift cards and an insincere apology.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, to go, and it was OK. I love eggs benny and this wasn't a fantastic version of it. The bread was chewy and hard to cut, it wasn't a good portion of salmon, either. My guess is that it's better in person? Either way, I ended up with a stomach ache afterwards, unfortunately. Two others in our group had ordered pancakes & an omelet, they also thought they were OK. Million dollar bacon was pretty good.

Eryn B.

Yelp
Best food ever made, we had avocado toast with poached eggs. So delicious. Service was incredible - such a kind and cheerful human!

Cindee D.

Yelp
On a lovely 80 degree day we were hoping to head outside to the outdoor seating and enjoy our meal. We were told "there is a bee problem and if you want to sit outside you can't come back in" I thought the host was joking because it sounded so ridiculous. thanks for the accommodation... I sat inside wearing a hoodie and pants and was freezing due to fear of Not being able to come back in.

Danielle J.

Yelp
This brunch here is really good ! I had the shrimp & grits and the millionaire bacon. The shrimp and grits were really flavorful, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. There is a long wait. But get in line online before you head there and you'll be fine. The service is awesome and the prices aren't bad at all !! I'll be back soon !!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
This is the third First Watch location I've been to in the Metro area. We really enjoyed our breakfast here. This is the first time we've been to a First Watch without having a dish remade or not being totally satisfied with the meal. For me, the star of the meal was the million dollar bacon. I am a bacon fan and this one hits the mark. I also enjoyed the pancakes and my friend enjoyed the Works omelette and the seasoned potatoes. We will definitely return to this location soon.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Love this place! For carry out every location is different and I have only dined in at Royal Oak. Potatoes are amazing with fried onions which gives them flavor. The million dollar bacon is my absolute favorite!!! Morning mediation is the best drink everrrr- gotta get light ice though!

Lily N.

Yelp
This place is always busy! Seriously every time I've ever tried to dine in there's a wait. I live walking distance from here so I've always wanted to try it but didn't want to wait so I got take out instead. I ordered the eggs benedict with potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy. I like to consider myself a eggs benedict, I always try the eggs benedict if it's on the menu, so needless to say I've had quite a few in my life. I wasn't the biggest fan of of this eggs benedict but it definitely wasn't bad. I didn't like how instead of two English muffins they were on just one long bread. I also didn't like the hollandaise sauce because it was a little too sour. I did however love how the eggs were poached perfectly and the ham was flavorful. The potatoes that came with were also seasoned well and soft. I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy that I thoroughly enjoyed. I feel like restaurants rarely have sides of biscuits and gravy so this option was awesome! The gravy was delicious and the biscuits were buttery and filling. Overall, I would love to dine in at First Watch to get the full experience and try a different order. This wasn't my favorite breakfast but it's down the street from me so I will definitely come back and try again!

Nade A.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about the food & beverages. The service? Very good...but the problem is you hardly ever see them! They greet you warmly, take your order, drop your food...and then you're ghosted. So, make sure you have *everything* you need before your server leaves, because they won't be back. (This happened at this location on more than one visit). Nice & sunny & clean inside.

Sherry W.

Yelp
Came here for lunch just before they closed. My coworker and I sat outside and each got a hash. She got the farmhouse hash and I got the market hash. The food was so fresh and tasty.

Alisha R.

Yelp
I had been dying to go to this place, put my overall experience was mediocre at best. My fiancé and I were checking the online waitlist to see if there was any wait, but there wasn't. So we headed in, I even checked the waitlist in the parking lot and it said there was no wait. When we got in she said they will be about a 5 to 10 wait, which ended up being about 15 minutes. So that was a little annoying. Once we got seated it took at least 10 minutes before our waitress came up to us. People were walking by us and no one was even acknowledging us as we were sitting at our table. I almost got up and left. We ended up ordering the farm stand breakfast tacos, sub potatoes instead of black beans, and the market hash with ham added. When our food got delivered they gave me black beans instead of potatoes but our waitress fixed it right away. The food was really nothing to write home about. The best thing was honestly probably my fiancé's toast and jam and then second up were the potatoes. The place was super cute inside but I just don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon.

Meng H.

Yelp
Finally! This is my first time being here. The last time I was here we had no reservation and the wait was 2hrs. But this was not the first time eating their food. My wife and kids brought home some leftovers and it was good. Because of our reservation the wait was only 5min. Please reserve a table !!!' The menu is simple but they do expose you to many different types of breakfast options. Don't expect to see your normal stuff. Everything on the menu is hyped and glorified. Nicely done to make you feel like your breakfast is going to be spectacular. In some ways, yes. If you order the right food. I chose the "eggs Benedict blt", which can be very good if done right. Excellently cooked! It was right on! My wife had the "traditional breakfast " Highly recommended.

LaToya J.

Yelp
Food was great! Service was amazing and the ambiance was nice. Will definitely visit again!!

Nicole W.

Yelp
My family loves First Watch! Every time we've gone in we've had good service, the food has exceeded our expectations, and there's something on the menu that everyone likes. Which is hard with a family of 5. It's a little on the pricey side for a big family, but it's perfect for a couples breakfast/brunch date. We really like the fact that some of the menu rotates seasonally (including adult beverages).

Victoria M.

Yelp
oh my !! We were served a wonderful brunch of Monte Cristo made special order however my grandson needed to use the restroom so -- I informed the waitress we would be right back and not to remove our food (only half done with our sandwiches) Well minutes later our table was completely cleared of all food drinks etc!!! I was offered the option of making us more - not viable for me The manager only gave me 20 percent off :( Guard your food

Anita A.

Yelp
This place is by far one of the busiest places on the weekends. Waiter was very nice. I had the healthy turkey, which is a egg white omelet with turkey. Omelet was bland. One thing about egg whites is that if you don't prep & cook properly then they turn into rubber. This was the case here. The potatoes were flavorful and cooked perfectly. Apparently, since inflation is so high you only get 1 slice of toast. Of course the toast was one of the best parts, but the jam had toooooo much sugar.
