Fish Gaucho Mexican Restaurant

Fantastic modern new wave Mexican food, the flavors were delicious. We had the chips and salsa, the California burrito, and the taquitos, all of these were quite tasty and well portioned. We attempted to make a reservation online but it was lost, the hostess took mercy on our pitiful situation and still found us a table at lunch time. Service overall was excellent, staff were efficient and friendly. The interior decoration design was impeccable, there is also a full bar with a myriad of options. Prices were high but to be expected in SLO.

We went to Fish Gaucho in Paso Robles excited because of several recommendations, but not really knowing what to expect, and it turned into one of those nights that just kept getting better. From the moment we walked in, everything felt intentional, warm, and thoughtfully done. It felt like more than just dinner, it was an experience. *Service: the service was outstanding. Alex, our bartender, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely helpful. He custom curated an extra añejo tequila flight for us that was incredible. He explained the tequilas, the aging, the flavor profiles, and the details behind each one, which made it fun, educational, and one of the highlights of the night. Our server, Rebecca, was fantastic. Super knowledgeable, down to earth, and warm. Talking with her felt like talking to a friend who just happened to know everything about the menu and the restaurant. Every person we interacted with was kind and clearly cared about our experience. *Food: the food was spectacular. Period. The aji tacos were unbelievable. Four street-sized tacos absolutely loaded with chilled, fresh, clean-tasting fish. The crema was rich and smooth, the tortillas were warm, soft, and chewy, the cabbage and greens were fresh and crunchy, and the pickled onions added the perfect tartness. We went with avocado instead of cilantro and it was flawless. Easily a five out of five, maybe six out of five. The green chili short rib was phenomenal. Butter-soft meat that cut with a fork, creamy mashed potatoes, and the farm fresh egg with the soft yolk made everything silky and rich. The green chili added just the right amount of tartness and smokiness to balance it all. I’d eat this dish every day if I could. We also ordered the chips and salsas, a huge basket of warm homemade chips with three scratch-made salsas, and they were excellent. *Ambiance: the space felt open but warm, cozy, and comfortable. Western-historic with a modern flair. A little loud, but not overwhelming. The massive wall of tequilas was stunning and really added to the atmosphere. *Value: for the quality of the food, the portions, the service, and the overall experience, the value felt more than fair. I left feeling like everything was absolutely worth it. *Overall: this was an exceptional dining experience. Spectacular food, warm and knowledgeable service, a fun tequila flight experience, and an atmosphere that made the whole night feel great. Fish Gaucho delivered on every level for me, and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

This was our first meal in Paso and it did not disappoint! We ordered a couple of cocktails, the ahi crudo, mango cod tacos, the porkchop, a side of elote, and the flan for dessert. Food was delicious, but we were blown away by the porkchop. Definitely joining our unofficial top 3 list of porkchops we've ever had (the other 2 are Penny Roma and Kothai Republic in SF). Josh was our server and he was great! This will be another spot we have to return to when in the area.

Fish Gaucho calls it's menu "California Mexican" and it's a perfect description. We had the swordfish. Perfectly grilled (medium rare), moist, flakey, and set on a bed of charred corn and a slightly spicy pea sauce. We eat a lot of seafood, this was delicious. The Tablas Creek was a perfect pairing. Super cool chandelier made of colored glass fish. Nice outside dining. Wait staff seemed a little stiff, but overall a great experience. Hope to come back.

Every time I’m in Paso Robles I make it a point to eat at Fish Gaucho. It’s one of my favorite restaurants! The staff that helped us were extremely courteous and polite, offering great recommendations and accommodating our requests with a wonderful attitude. One of the best features of this restaurant that really sets the quality of their dishes and drinks apart is that all ingredients are prepped fresh for the day, which really does make a difference. Everything we had was fresh, flavorful, and an amazing experience. Highly recommend you make a reservation when you plan to visit since this is a popular restaurant in the city and the standby tables can run out fast.

Want a great dining experience? These folks are proud of their presentation... It's almost too pretty to eat but it was delicious from every angle... Lovely staff and great patrons abound here... Maybe next time I'll save room for dessert.

If you’re in Paso and looking for dinner, there’s honestly no better spot than Fish Gaucho. Audrey, our server, was incredibly kind, attentive, and had spot-on recommendations. We started with the shrimp ceviche, nachos, and some amazing tequila cocktails, then moved on to the cod tacos, carnitas tacos, and the short rib tacos (!!!). Fish Gaucho is a local favorite for a reason, and I can’t recommend it enough. Huge thank you to Audrey for the outstanding service—wow!

So many friends and locals recommended this place and it lived up to the hype! Great seafood and the short rib tacos are delicious too. The oysters were a great deal and so fresh! Some of the best that I’ve had! Also would recommend the Ceviche de Dia. Delicious chunks of fish that were marinated perfectly and so flavorful! For drinks, the Mach 1 was the standout — a bit spicy and spirit forward! Service was friendly and helpful. Great space that is lively and full of cool decor. Also check out Tiki Cane next door for some great tiki drinks!!

Audrey C is an amazing server. She was our bachelorette parties' server and she effing killed it. She made it SO FUN!!! Food is great, drinks were fire, we all had a blast!!

The "Business Manager" tried to discount my credibility as a reviewer by claiming that the dishes were many years old and even went as far as to suggest I change my review. Not only is this place a bad restaurant but the person in charge of their Yelp profile has shown their true colors more than any experience ever could. Last year my family and I had to endure this miserable experience. I wrote an honest review, as I always do, and no threat or bribe will get me to change it. Off of memory Service was TERRIBLE, our waitress was rude, impatient, and refused everything we asked for, including sliced avocado. The place was loud and cramped, tables packed too tightly together bathroom was gross, kitchen was wide open and we could see the corners they cut by stacking things on top of other things, i.e. one dessert plate on top of another. the options were lacking variety and flavor, at the time it was a single page and although the things we selected sounded good they arrived as you can see in the pictures, to be lacking substance and flavor. I had a table of 5 people, luckily I am the only reviewer of the family, but if you question my credibility again I'll gladly ask them to tell you all about their experiences as well.

I give 3.5 stars due to the disappointing cod tacos. I think if they give you a tiny piece of fish for happy hour or the size or quality is different they should let you know- hey this will be a small portion etc. You can barely see the fish in fact, it was the size of my pinky finger if not smaller and I mostly had two mango salsa tacos for $13- not two cod tacos. The small piece of fish showing is the whole fish and the only piece I got which is crazy. Everything else is chopped mango salsa! I was really craving fish tacos so I was shocked at the size. I didn't want a bunch I think the entree comes with 4? I like to try a bunch of different things always. I didn't want to be rude and send it back and ask for another but after eating both I could barely taste any fish. So I thought maybe a piece dropped or something or maybe they skim the portion for HH? I had just driven 3- hours so I was so hungry. And didn't want to cause fuss but I know I wouldn't ever order the cod tacos again. Short rib taco 5/5 wowwww i probably could eat about 5. I ended up ordering two- the meat was so Juicy. The sweet jam/salsa kind of throws you off at first because you think you have a bitter tomatillo but damn.. this taco is bommmb' meat quality is 10/10! I was missing a little crema on top but perfect taco. Service is good and everyone is attentive and comes by with food fast and updates you, so that is nice. There's a lot of moving parts bringing things and refilling your waters. My main complaint was the lack of protein in the taco I felt like I just had a vegan or vegetarian taco. You can see from the pictures- the lack of fish. Can you even find it? The menu is creative and interesting so I would come back just never again for HH fish tacos. I'm in San Luis Obispo rn eating happy hour tacos and my taco is 3x the size of this one and it's $5 and the other is $3, so big difference and big shock rn

Another beautiful day, Paso Robles. We were going to a winery but we want to be responsible and eat tasty food first. I knew just the place Fish Gaucho. There were four adults, one toddler and one large puppy. Fish Gaucho had us covered they have patio seating and is dog friendly. We decided to order a few plates of the tacos and selected a variety of types. I personally love the mango cod and ahi tacos but they were all delicious. I wish I had taken a photo, but everyone was hungry and I kept having hands blocking the food. Our server was so kind and patient with our large puppy. She made sure he had plenty of water and he got lots of attention from everybody. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Paso Robles.

Ate here with spouse and daughter/fiancé. Great menu, and I had to try a mezcal flight because I know zip. Really liked it! Good service, nice atmosphere, good food. Would definitely return!

When we drove into town on Friday night at 8pm, there was a long line outside. This made us want to try it! We went there for lunch on Saturday. My MIL wasn't hungry so she only ordered Guac and Chips. Both the guac and the tortilla chips were fresh and the portion was big enough for us to share. There was a little spiciness to the guac which made it even better! My 8 year old son stuffed himself with the Double Pork Chop. Our server was surprised to see him finish the whole thing but he did leave most of the shaved brussel sprouts. My husband loved his Short Rib Chile Verde served with Mashed Potatoes and Tortillas. Both my MIL and he said it was exceptional. I really enjoyed my Mango Fish Tacos. There were four of them on single tortillas, not too filling. It looks like a fun place for dinner. Our server was really friendly and attentive. We had a very pleasant lunch meal.

*This review is a for a to go order* Was in town from the Bay Area and we were craving Mexican food. Definitely a solid spot! Got the shrimp ceviche and the wagyu California burro. The burro was huge, and can definitely be shared between two people. It was packed with ingredients and a good amount of meat, cheese, salsa, and wedge potatoes. I will say the burro was a bit too salty after you got halfway through the burrito, especially when eating the pickled onion and chili. As for the ceviche, it tasted quite fresh. A good amount of shrimp in it, but this dish was slightly too sweet. I'm not sure if it was the mangoes or the pineapples, but the sweetness overpowered the rest of the ingredients.

Wow what amazing time we had. Food was delicious I order pozole and omg AMAZING flavors ! All the food was delish the service is A plus ! The place is well keep and tables are well spaced . Love the ambiance and the music . Miley was wonderful and on top Of everything we neeed iHere are some pics of the food my family order as well !

My significant other chose Fish Gaucho for their early 1/2 bday celebration & it was splendid! Prices were a some what steep but the quality & time between friends & family are priceless(: Honestly never order the pork chop(pictures below), but i was delighted i did. Moist, juicy & lean. Usually i dont even like brussel sprouts but that plate was bare when it left the table.

Nice decor and comfortable seating. Very good service but felt a little forced. I kept feeling that the answers to any questions we had about the menu were designed to upsell us. Ultimately, the food was just "okay". We had some really good ceviche as an appetizer, but the remainder of the meal wasn't as satisfying. I'd had high hopes for a Lobster Enchilada that sounded delicious on the menu, but fell a little short with not too much lobster in a pretty one-dimensional filling. I didn't dislike it, but definitely didn't feel like I was eating a rich and succulent seafood dish either.

In my over a decade of Yelp reviewing, there are very few businesses that I felt "earned" a one star rating. Unfortunately, I am adding Fish Gaucho to this tiny list. We heard about them from a wonderful representative at Pasolivo's country venue. As she was local, we asked her for restaurant recommendations. Fish Gaucho is clearly popular, and likely turns out delicious food. It was their extremely poor customer engagement skills that landed them this review. Our family reunion group of 8 stopped by just before 6 p.m. on a Tuesday. It was the last night of our get-together and we were looking forward to a special finale meal. The host quoted an hour wait and put us down for a table. We were disappointed about the length of time given, especially as there were many empty tables visible in the restaurant at that hour. We went walking around the downtown plaza to spend the waiting time. It was very warm, so too much strolling was not ideal. Also, most shops had just closed, so browsing was out. By the time am hour passed we were now hot, tired, and hungry, and ready to eat. A return check of the Gaucho at 7:00 yielded, "Maybe 20 minutes or less." Disapointing. At 7:30, there was still no table. Then the bad turn happened. Restaurants get busy, people linger - we got that. The way the staff handled it was lacking in good communication skills to set proper expectations and treat the patrons with respect. One of the managers lied to my brother about being the last resort for escalation. Shortly thereafter the owner came out and was ready to be confrontational, instead of soothing. They were offering us to squeeze in to a table for 6 the 8 of us. The body language and tone was that they really didn't want our business. We took a group consensus that we had mainly lost our hunger and just wanted something simple, quick, and easy. We walked away, frustrated that our evening had been compromised by the arrogance of a successful business (of the moment) that couldn't have been honest at the outset and said something like, "We are extra busy tonight as it's the first warm evening in a while. We have a lot of reservations. We will TRY to get you in within an hour, but can't guarantee it." Not handling it that way set up poor expectations and effectively soured our evening. I doubt I'd be inclined to give them another chance, mainly because of the entitled-to-be-rude attitude displayed by management.

Came to Paso for a girls weekend and stopped in at this place with a party of 4. We were seated at the bar, but it did not disappoint the service and food/drinks were so good. Definitely get a reservation prior to coming with a big group. 10/10 recommend the Jalapeño margarita and halibut fish tacos. I asked for spicy house salsa and it was so hot it's made w ghost peppers.

We came in with low expectations, figuring we'd get standard bar food and average service. We were completely blown away, our waitress was absolutely phenomenal. Short of reading our minds, she somehow knew exactly what we liked and didn't like. Her recommendations (including a few off-menu items) were spot-on and made our night. The drinks? Strong, delicious, and surprisingly well-crafted. Not something you always expect this late at night in an otherwise sleepy town. Food-wise, the tacos and ceviche were excellent - fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. But the highlight might've been the off-menu extra spicy salsa. It was both deadly and delicious in the best way possible... We're so glad we stumbled on this place. Paso has very few late-night dining options, and this spot is an absolute gem. We'll definitely be back next time we're Paso.

Date Night, M got us tickets over at Villa Robles Amphitheatre to see and hear "Happy Together" a sixty and seventies concert for our generation. First was dinner here at the Fish Gaucho, one of my favorite restaurants in the county. 5:30 reservations on a Sunday was a good idea too. We parked a couple blocks away and waited about ten minutes for "our" table. Okay, we sat inside, too breezy for the patio, plus we're goin' to be outside for the show so...I had pulled up the menu from our Yelp app and pretty much decided what we would like for dinner. Drinks first, M passed and I ordered a mango iced tea. Honestly there wasn't much ice and pretty much no mango, I didn't bother to look at what that cost me. Dinner was ordered, we started with shrimp ceviche. Oh my was that ever good. Two corn tostadas piled high with a mixture of shrimp, fish, avocado, and pomegranates. Soon enough came the pozole soup for M and the short rib enchiladas (3) for me. I especially liked the enchilada sauce, not too spicy, defiantly made in house it had a good rich flavor that complemented the short ribs. That was a meal I would enjoy every day if I could make it myself...most excellent! We scarfed it down with plenty of time to catch the show, which we also enjoyed. The family and I had dinner at Fish Gaucho on New Year's Day. This place has been on my radar for a long time and I was looking forward to trying it. Our reservation was for 6:30 which, by the way, I very early for us to eat dinner. We arrived around 6:20 and were seated outside on the heated patio. Daniel arrived to take our order. The Mrs. and I started out with The Gaucho, which is the house Margarita while we looked over the menu. Fish Gaucho is a Tequila bar so if Tequila and Mezcal are your thing, this is the place for you. Personally, Señora Mezcal and I don't get along and Señorita Tequila have a love/hate relationship. We stuck to ordering appetizers. To start, we ordered the Morro Bay Guacamole. I've never had named guacamole and wondered what made it Morro Bay Guacamole. However, I decided to let the guac remain mystery rather than ask Daniel about its origins. I have to say it was pretty darn good guacamole. The next dish we ordered was the Wagyu Tartar. Which was 4oz. of finely chopped Snake River Farms flat iron, topped with a farm fresh egg yolk, Felipe's hot sauce, chive oil, cilantro, chives, and beet purée, served with toast points. I'm a HUGE fan of steak tartar, but I really didn't enjoy Fish Gaucho's version. I feel the amount of heat brought on by the hot sauce took away from the Wagyu. Next was the Shrimp Ceviche which consisted of marinated shrimp, grilled mango salsa, avocado, pomegranate, cucumber, chive oil, lime, lemon, micro greens, cilantro and parsley on crisp corn tostadas. The presentation of the ceviche wasn't what we were used to. Overall, it was a good dish. I just think it would be better served with chips rather than stacked on a tostada shell. For our final dish we ordered the Carnitas Tacos. Which were pineapple carnitas topped with pineapple pepper salsa, cabbage, Oaxaca cheese, micro greens, served on corn tortillas. They were good but just a little too sweet for me. The food at Fish Gaucho to me was good but not great. However, the service we received from Daniel and the rest of the staff was great.

This place is very popular and we arrived on an early Sunday evening without a reservation. We were sat pretty quickly and had the best server. Hannah was energetic, engaged and offered awesome drink and food suggestions. Their margaritas are AMAZING! We ordered a plate of Oaxaca tacos and halibut tacos with beans & rice and (because of Hannah's suggestion) the elote. Their elote is like none other we have ever had and it is a MUST. The food and drinks were throughly enjoyed but Hannah made this dinner an experience with her personal touches and genuine care. She even brought us champagne to toast our ten year anniversary. When we find ourselves back in Paso, we will certainly return.

This place is amazing. First time here and this place will definitely also be a must visit when I'm back in Paso. Amazing food, amazing drinks, cool vibes. Definitely recommend the rib eye and the soup.

This restaurant has superior craft cocktails and excellent chips and salsa ...however, they do NOT KNOW how an enchilada is made. Mexican food is the easiest thing in world to make too. I didn't see much in way of vegetarian on menu. So asked the waitress if they could make a cheese enchiladas instead of short rib one. She said yes of course ... noooo problem. . When my food came out, it was 3 uncooked rolled flours tortillas with one small DRIZZLE of some sort of ,not tasting red sauce on it. No cheese , cold , nothing cooked. Inside I'm like ... where are the corn tortillas, the warm red sauce covering the baked cheese goodness , garnish with a bit of sour cream ? Now in all my 64 years , and traveling for my work as a flight attendant experiencing all foods from other countries.... Have I never wanted so much as to go in kitchen, gather cooks and show them how to make this very simple and delicious dish . Omg ... Gordon Ramsey where are you? You would think with the excellent craft cocktails and salsas... their food would be exceptional. My husband had short rib tacos . Which he said were pretty good. So there's that. So I guess stick to tacos . I suppose if you go to their restaurant, Just don't get the enchiladas as they aren't enchiladas. They are soft tacos without anything on them. They really need to take the word enchiladas off menu . As they are non existent. Other than that ,our over all experience was nice . Our waitress was very sweet and kind, as were the bartenders. The place had great feel . I'd return for craft cocktails and chips and salsas most definitely. I just wouldnt order their version of enchiladas.

We were craving Fish Tacos on the way down to Los Alamos,, and Yelp! guided us to Fish Gaucho. We shared a cup of pozole, which was a very generous portion, and we ordered the mango cod tacos and the ahi tacos. The cod tacos were good, but they were a total, messy pain to eat. The ahi tacos were DELICIOUS! This place definitely delivered on what we were craving.

Food, Drinks, Service and did I say FOOD! SHORT RIBS CHILE VERDE !!!!!!!!!! Margaritas, and Bread pudding !!!!

Great service, however the food was ok, I'd recommend the happy hour if you're looking to experience and explore the menu. We made reservations based on high recommendations and while I really wanted to give this a better rating based on the initial attentiveness of the server, unfortunately, my main entree was a huge miss. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be back for the ceviche as it was wonderful; and think this is a better choice for happy hour. My entree was beautifully plated but unfortunately, the flavor was a huge miss. The scallops were cooked perfectly however the rest of the flavors of dish did not work well together. Maybe it's me but I think scallops on their own are sweet and delicate and the puréed sweet potatoes with coconut did not work together for my palate. The broccolini was also covered in oil which made it inedible for me. My partner made a better choice as he ordered the short rib enchiladas. Another unique dish but in this case, it worked. The short rib meat was tender and well seasoned. They are rich in flavor so he was only able to eat one and took the other 2 home which allowed me to try them the following day.

The food here is beyond amazing, the flavors, spices, everything is just so tasty! Best tuna appetizer ever! Every single item we ordered was so delicious.

We were in town for one night and came here for dinner. They have great patio seating that is also covered (it was a windy night), which was perfect for our dog. The inside ambiance looked very nice, and there was a full bar, too. I had their meat tacos, and my husband had shrimp tacos, and for an app, we ordered ceviche with the day's fish. The ceviche was good with a generous portion. My tacos were also very tasty; the meat was tender and flavorful. I think it was a bit overpriced for these 3 dishes, and tips ended up being around $100 for dinner without any drinks, but maybe that's an average price for around here. The service was good, and the food came out quickly. Overall, we had a good experience, and if you want some good tacos with a bit of a fancier/nicer atmosphere, this is a good place to come.

We sat at the bar watching our amazing bartender Edgar craft our cocktails with care. He was talented, warm & friendly, and very attentive. The service and the food and drinks were outstanding! Other bartenders checked on us, if Edgar had to run to the kitchen. We really felt welcome

I think my family members over hyped this spot so I came in with high expectations. I got 4 tacos, 2 fish and 2 brisket. They were good but not incredible. I found the ingredients to be a bit bland and the flavors a little out of balance (e.g. way too many pickled onions dominating the fish). Brisket was the better of the 2 tacos I tried. Overall would return but wouldn't seek out.

What a great place!!! Pricey. Excellent service, food, ambiance. Wow! I shared the 4 tacos with our group and had the Halibut, Carnitas and Cod tacos. They were ALL FANTASTIC AND FULL OF FLAVOR! My husband had the Flank Steak with mashed potato, and onions and he loved it too. Our other guest had the short rib enchiladas that I didn't get to taste because they were eaten up and reportedly, delicious. Two margaritas that were top notch! I highly recommend this place and cannot say anything but EXCELLENT!

Hubby saw the great reviews and we decided to try this place since we were in town for 4 nights. It's an expensive Mexican food restaurant. We were floored by the prices we saw- 4 street size tacos for $37. The food was ok, a little saltier than I prefer, but I didn't think it was worth the money. I'd recommend going to Stokehouse around the corner. Family owned and at the same prices, you get such delicious food!

Located right in the heart of Downton Paso, Fish Gaucho is one of the more popular restaurants in the area. They have a beautiful bar area with an extensive list of tequilas. They offer both indoor and patio seating options and it was honestly pretty busy on a Monday evening, but luckily we were seated right away. // COCKTAILS // Watermelon Mint Margarita: Locally harvested watermelon, fresh mint, agave, lime, tequila, chile salt. Fresh and sweet watermelon juice mixed with the normal margarita ingredients made for a perfect drink to go along with the food! 4.5/5 The Jalepine Margarita: Fire-roasted jalapeno and pineapple, tequila, agave, lime, chile salt. Garnished with a roasted pineapple and actually spicy jalapeno, this was a nice twist on a normal margarita. 4/5 // FOOD // Morro Bay Guacamole: Fresh and served with tortilla chips. 4/5 Chile Verde de Gaucho: Braised beef short rib in a salsa verde sauce over jalapeno mashed potatoes, farm fresh egg, served with grilled asparagus and flour tortillas. A large portion of short rib which was cooked perfectly. I honestly didn't taste any of the jalapenos in the mashed potatoes which was slightly disappointing. The grilled asparagus provided some nice veggie addition to the dish since it was pretty dense and heavy. 3.5/5 Alaskan Halibut con Deconstructed Elote: Street style corn, spring pea puree, mezcal brown sugar butter. Perfectly prepared halibut - nice and flaky and not dry at all. The pea puree and corn were sweet and provided a nice texture to the dish. 4/5 Overall, I thought the food was very good at Fish Gaucho. They have a lot of other options on the menu such as tacos, enchiladas, steaks, seafood options. Our server let us know that their tacos are about the size of LA street tacos and is served with 4 of them. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Paso to try some of the other dishes and cocktails.

Visited during happy hour and was quite surprised at how pricey it was. We ordered guacamole, ahi crudo, mango cod tacos, and nachos. The food was mediocre. The guacamole was pretty basic--nothing special. The ahi crudo was refreshing and tasty. The mango cod tacos were good, though overfilled and difficult to eat. As for the nachos, I wouldn't recommend them; they were unpleasant and looked unappetizing. The drinks were decent but didn't feel worth the happy hour price. Given the high cost, I wouldn't return.

Had the mahi prawns. I'm usually not a fish person but the fish was very well cooked. Everything was so good!! Our food did take a little long to come, but our server was so nice that she brought out some complementary chips and guacamole for the table. Pleasant experience!

Came here because of the good reviews and they have an outdoor area for our dog. We called to make a reservation, we were 5 min away at the park, and we were seated without any issues. They're known for their tequila/mezcal so we got a margarita and a Paloma. The Paloma tasted stronger than the margarita. We got here around 1pm so we took advantage of the lunch menu/special: half order of nachos and mix n match tacos. The green sauce is amazing, I poured that on everything. Definitely recommend if you have a dog and want good food and drinks!

Went for happy hour and started with the nachos, and they were so good. Super flavorful, loaded with toppings, and honestly one of the best I've had. I don't usually like beans, but they were actually amazing on these. The tacos were smaller than I expected for the price, but maybe that's just because it was happy hour? Either way, the short rib taco was the best, super tender and flavorful. Also, if you're looking for something different and fresh, I'd definitely recommend the ahi tuna dish!

Fish Gaucho's patio was the perfect spot for a weekend lunch. There was some sort of happy hour food deal going on, so we got the half order of nachos ($14) and the surf and turf tacos ($24). Service was great. We were sat right away and checked on throughout our meal. We stopped in for a bite in between wine tasting, so we didn't try any of the cocktails -- I'll have to do a follow up visit!

The Palamo & the Jalapino Margarita were stellar! Could have partaken in 6 of these!! We heard their short rib dishes were on point! That was no lie!! Chile Relleno fundido appetizer could be a meal! Then we shared the Chile Verde de Gaucho! Everything was amazing!

2 stars for the food. The service was poor enough to remove the other 3 stars. Out of state party of 7 that had booked a reservation based on a recommendation from a winery. Waitress did not review the specials at all and merely came by to take the order. They brought another table's drink to our table. No big deal. When ordering, a member of our party was on the mend from major dental surgery and had specifically asked the waitress of the Alaskan Halibut with Elote had any spice, including black pepper. The waitress stated that there were serrano chilis in the Elote but they could remove them. Perfect. Dinner is served and after a few bites, the party member is in severe pain. Turns out they blend an entire jalapeno in the sauce that is covering the entire dish! Our party member is unable to eat for the rest of the night due to the pain. Waitress never returned to ask about refills or if we wanted to order another drink. She didn't inquire about dessert and just left the check. Maybe it's because she was guaranteed a 20% tip due to the restaurant policy that she just did not care. Definitely spreading the word to all friends and family that visit Paso to avoid this place as they deserve to be treated better for the kind of money this place was asking.

This is one of our go to places in Paso. Definitely recommend getting reservations here. Cocktails are fantastic and have something for everyone. Food is a little pricey but I call this style fine dining mexican. Our go to is the enchilada soup and you get a ton of soup. Very good quality and full of flavor. We never leave disappointed and hungry. Service is always very good and efficient. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Lots of choices to choose from Fish cerviche, quinoa ahi salad, and sea bass/mushrooms/carrot puree/broccolini were delicious. Atmosphere is casual, and service was excellent They also have a huge selection of tequila, margaritas & a full bar.

The Nachos were very, very tasty. I would suggest it to two people if you're a smaller eater, as I had to take some home, but that's not bad. If you love pickled onions, you will love this! I ordered a custom drink as well, a Midori sour. It was delicious, and I definitely would order this again. The service was excellent! The server we had was Millie, who was very attentive. The only thing is they forgot to give us our chips and trio dip, but we were full after eating, so it's alright. Overall, the inside of the restaurant was lovely and chatty, with a rustic design.

Fish Gaucho's is a twist on Mexican food & has a large tequila selection. My favorite item on the menu is the nachos! The restaurant is lively & the perfect spot for a margarita & bite!

Had a great meal at the Fish Gaucho. Chips and 3 kinds of salsa and guacamole welcomed us. I had the sea bass which was delicious. Hubby had the ahi quinoa salad which was amazing. Great variety on their menu.

One of favorite spots in Paso! The fish can't get any fresher, the drinks are always perfectly balanced, the food is just next level! Highly recommend trying a fish/taco as well as the short rib tacos!!( not pictured because we ate them so fast!) PS they just opened a tiki bar right next door, go check it out!

Got here without any reservations, luckily early enough to get a table. The hostess wasn't the friendliest. However Pablo, our waiter, was very attentive and friendly and made up for the unfriendliness. Loved their chips and salsa trio, the food was okay, but not impressive.

Fish Gaucho is in the heart of downtown Paso Robles, a nice place to stop for dinner after touring the many wineries in the area. However, if you're expecting mind blowing food, this isn't the place. The food had nice presentation but was not impressive in flavor. The seasoning tasted quite literally like salt and pepper. Although the menu names were interesting, there was nothing unique about it. - The chile verde de Gaucho was $36 and had 4 tortillas, an egg, sauce, asparagus, and braised beef on mash potato. - The flat iron carne asada was $33 has 4 tortillas, bell peppers, and 5 pieces of steak on mash potato. -The fish ceviche was $16 didn't have enough chips for the amount of ceviche. I've had much better ceviche for half the price The price was too expensive for the portion size and the complexity of flavors. The total plus tip came out to $107 for 2 people with no left overs. I expected more for the price I had to pay. The atmosphere was alright. I sat at the bar and it was entertaining watching the bartenders make drinks. They had a huge selection of alcohol on the shelves and even had wine on tap (an uncommon sight). Things I wish I knew before going: - Arrive early to put your name down. I went around 6:30pm and had to wait 50 minutes for 2 seats at the bar - Parking on all streets are pretty full during dinner time, so expect to park 5-10 minutes away as needed - Service is slow and not attentive. We waited 30-40 minutes for the entrees to come out

I don't know if we managed to pick some of the absolute worst items on the menu or what? They have an extensive cocktail menu and wine list. Possibly, the drinks are the strong suit here. I ordered the mango agua fresca ($8.50) and my bf ordered what the DUCK!!! ($18). We were both happy with our choices here 4/5. While we ordered drinks, our server asked "do you want chips and salsa too?". It would have been nice if she told us there was a charge ($6.50) for this just so we had a heads up. The aguachile of the day was halibut sashimi in a sweet chile sauce ($8.50). The halibut was fishy and weirdly sticky and the chile sauce was overpoweringly sweet. We asked for some limes (it desperately needed some acid in the mix) and we received them, but they were super dry. We managed to squeeze a couple drops out, put it all on a chip and managed to get it down. This was a huge miss. 0/5 I ordered the halibut con elote ($37). The halibut was so dry and overcooked, it was stringy. It was also totally unseasoned. Mixing it with the elote and sauce helped with the flavor and dryness, but the elote was so spicy from all the intermingled peppers, I could only do so much of that. My bf, the human garbage disposal, didn't even want to touch the rest. We always take leftovers home so we don't waste. Nope, not this! 1/5 The bf loves chile verde so the chile verde de gaucho ($36) caught his eye. The short rib and sauce were not particularly flavorful. The asparagus ends were so tough and fibrous he had to spit it out. 3/5 The presentation of the drinks and food were very nice. The decor of the restaurant was also cool. Service was present, but it felt pretty cold and methodical from the host to our server. I had Fish Gaucho bookmarked since our last visit to Paso when we went to dinner across the way at the Hatch (see my five star review, btw) and saw lots of people waiting for a table. Made reservations on Tock as soon as I planned this trip for our anniversary. (We did receive a happy anniversary card at our table when we arrived, which was a nice gesture.). Suffice it to say, we won't be returning.

We were in town last weekend and made a reservation we felt rushed the whole time we were seated at a tiny table close to the bar but it was so uncomfortable. We had the pozole which was good and the taquitos which were really good and flavorful we were never asked if we wanted chips or salsa my drink finally showed up when my pozole came something was just off and it wasn't even busy. We love the ambiance and the restaurant but this time it was a miss for me
