"Over a decade old, this tiny Allston staple, helmed by a couple of Oishii alums, remains a crowd-pleaser, featuring lovely dishes that push the bounds of tradition (as well as some more classic options). There are some hot dishes from the kitchen, too, for those in the mood for something other than sushi." - Valerie Li Stack, Eater Staff

"Sushi Factory, located at 140 Brighton Ave., Allston, Boston, was an all-you-can-eat sushi shop that opened in late 2017. Initially closed for renovations along with its nearby sibling, Hi B3ar Ice, it was later confirmed to be closed permanently. The venue will be replaced by Meet Fresh, a Taiwanese dessert chain." - Terrence Doyle

This is one of those hole in the wall places that is very good. The avacado ball was great, must try item. Today the sashimi wasn't the best, normally better. Except for the sea scallop, it was very good. The Uni were so small but tasty. The hand rolls came out late or something, the seaweed became chewy. The softshell crab batter was very sweet for some reason. Tasted weird. The seared sea scallop roll was very good. Had a smoky flavor to it. Caterpillar was only ok. Overall still one of the better sushi spot. Would recommend to anyone. This place is small so maybe wait on busy days.

Google
Cucumber Maki rolls brought a crispness to the sushi, that also meant I didn't fill up on as much rice. I really enjoyed it though understand probably not for everyone. Tuna collar was delicious and fresh.

Google
My favorite sushi restaurant in Boston. What I love about the sushi is that it’s high quality and always fresh. The portions is very fair and the price is fair for the quality that you get. This is my go to place when I’m craving high quality sushi. Favorite dishes are chirashi, avocado ball, and fried green tea ice cream.

Aryan Galani

Google
The sushi quality is really great for the price, and I would highly recommend their incredibly soft tuna! The chef was incredibly nice and helped us pick some of his recommended sushi rolls/dishes. Definitely going to make this place my go to sushi spot in Allston!

Updated in October 2019. Not my favorite place anymore... I haven’t been here for like 3 months, but the quality of food and service have degraded. Broken dishes, mediocre (not that fresh, as you could tell from the split)sashimi, slow & unwelcoming service really surprised me... And I think the restaurant has increased the price as well. Hope the owner do something about it. 2018 review: Fresh sushi. Good presentation. Clean restaurant. And decent service. The chef gave me a free appetizer when I went there along... Thanks!

Google
As an Asian, I have high standards for sushi and sashimi so it was difficult to find satisfactory sushi. I have been visiting this restaurant once every 2 weeks after discovering this restaurant. I've tried several dishes such as sushi, maki, roll and noodle. But Chirashi is the best of the best. A variety of fish toppings go up, fresh and plentiful as well. Today, I ordered Chirashi, rainbow maki and miso with uber. The taste is always delicious. I highly recommend 'Chirashi' at this restaurant. !_!

Google
This was such a great find. The sushi was fresh, reasonably priced, and they had some very unique rolls! I got the truffling tuna, salmon sushi, an eel roll, salmon skin roll, and foie gras sushi that was so good I had to get another. Pretty decent selection of sake also. The service was great and very attentive.

Spencer Gross

Google
Sushi quality is 10/10! Really happy with all the rolls I got. The service was sub par and definitely not anything crazy inside, but if you want some high quality sushi definitely worth checking out.

Deangela S.

Yelp
As much as I want to gatekeep this place, I can't in good conscience because I want this restaurant to still be there when I visit Boston again! This sushi restaurant was recommended by a friend who went to BU. She swore by the foie gras sushi roll and please!!! Someone, please taste it for me and tell me if it's worth it. I wasn't able to get it because unfortunately their credit card system was down and it was cash only. I only had $11 in my pocket, no ATM close by and they were gonna close in less than an hour. (I had already taken a half an hour Uber ride and hadn't eaten all day so I was starving!) Despite all that, I was still able to get a really good lunch here. Bless the service and the people working there who took pity on me! The people working there were kind of enough to work with my budget. They even asked what was my preference for fish. They even told me that the tuna had come in fresh the day before. I chose salmon and cucumber. The miso was warm and delicious. The salad was fresh. The sushi was delicious! The fish was fresh and they gave good-sized portions. I was definitely satisfied after my meal. Receipt included in my review to prove that $11 was indeed enough. There is a 10% discount if cash is used. The space is cozy so I recommend it for a date and other intimate get together with friends. The lunch specials cannot be beat in price. The quality of the food is well worth the price. The service is friendly and hospitable. Please come here and check it out for yourself.

Yelp
Everything I have ordered here has been wonderful. Quality is great, and it prices are pretty good too considering it's 2023. This is my go-to sushi restaurant! Also a 10% cash discount if you pay with cash. I've been here multiple times and safe to say this is one of my favorite restaurants. The katsu curry is great--not too salty and the pork is just crispy enough. They probably have the best takoyaki in Boston also considering they make it in house and has just the right combination of flavors and textures of the batter with the octopus. A few of the sushi favorites are hard to choose from, but I always get some of their salmon nigiri and the sweet eel maki (sweet potato and eel) is SO good. The sweet eel maki is served warm and the sweet potato is always soft enough to complement the sweet taste of eel sauce and eel itself. Despite being a small restaurant with a limited number of tables, I can usually get a table right when I walk in. However, food does take a while to come out sometimes so it's often easier to order all at once then wait for each item to come out rather than ordering food a few times throughout your meal. My favorites here: - Sweet Eel Maki - Salmon Nigiri - Katsu Curry

Sara Jieyi T.

Yelp
A small sushi bar tucked away on a street in Allston that serve fresh sushi and sashimi. I am amazed by the quality of food and affordable pricing. We got the crab cakes, seared scallop maki and assorted sashimi. The sushi came in a good ratio of protein and rice and each bite is delicious. The uni was really yummy too. However, I didn't like the sweet shrimp because it wasn't sweet at all. Felt like I was eating regular small shrimps. This is a small restaurant with I believe only 4 tables and bar seating. Service was slightly slow (but we ordered a lot). Overall, it's a nice little spot for good quality sushi in Allston! Food: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Experience: 7/10 Value: 7.8/10

Yelp
My friend and I came by for a weekday lunch to take advantage of their lunch specials - they seemed so cheap (especially nowadays). We stopped by around 12:30 on a Monday to an empty restaurant, and while we were there, we were the only customers. The lunch specials were actually so inexpensive, so we decided to order 3 to share between the two of us. First was the sushi lunch. The California rolls were a bit mediocre - the imitation crab meat was quite tasteless. The fish was fine - not the freshest, I think, but nothing too problematic. The imitation crab nigiri was not very good, which might be a recurring theme. The ebi (shrimp) was also average. Next was the sushi sashimi lunch, which was largely just the previous characters arranged in slightly different roles. A bit disappointing, overall, and even my favourite salmon sashimi fell a bit flat. Last was the sushi and maki deluxe - we picked the yellowtail maki. The nigiri was of similar quality to the other combos. Yellowtail maki was pretty good, although inconsistently so (there was one piece that was nearly unchewable). Tempura was actually really quite good - crispy and yummy :) Overall, the price was indeed quite low, and we had so much food, but was it worth it? For this quality, I would say no. While nothing was expressly bad, I think that there are much better options in the area (for just a little higher price) that I would rather go to instead.

Yelp
I'm happy I moved to Allston for one reason and one reason only - Fish Market. This is such a small, hidden gem tucked away. The amount of times I've walked by and didn't even know. This is the best affordable mom-and-pop sushi place in all of Boston. In boston, you either have mediocre sushi or you have omakase. There is no inbetween. The prices at fish market are reasonable and the quality is great. I haven't had something on the menu where I was repulsed by. I feel the care in each roll, and you can even watch the chef's putting their love into your food. Another unique thing is for the spicy salmon/tuna, they dont mash up the fish like other sushi spots- way higher quality this way! The service is also very attentive and the lady is soo sweet!

Lada L.

Yelp
Stop scrolling, you must try sushi at Fish Market! We had the absolute best sushi dinner here. Chef puts so much care, love and attention into every piece he makes. Sushi rice was cooked to perfection, you can taste each rice grain and it was seasoned beautifully. Fish was of high quality and generously portioned, truly the star of the show. Chef sourced fresh ingredients. The ginger was pickled in-house. We were thoroughly pleased and satisfied with our meal, service and hospitality shown by our hosts. I've lived in the Boston area for 20+ years and Fish Market has climbed the ranks of top sushi restaurants around!

Yelp
Fish Market Sushi Bar is a great neighborhood sushi bar. It's fairly price and it comes with a lot of different options such as noodles, cooked food, and sushi. They finally put on specials again and it's amazing.

Yelp
I came across this place while visiting Boston and looking for a quick lunch spot. Well it was fantastic! Very cute, a little small but amazing sushi and excellent service. We ordered the avocado ball to start and the hamachi tata. Be aware of the wasabi but it is not spicy. Also had so super fresh sushi, jalapeño twister very yummy and the must have Rainbow Maki, so light and delicious.

Tinah H.

Yelp
probably my favorite casual sushi place in Boston so far. Menu is affordable and fish is super fresh. There are so many options on the menu, but I usually opt for the sashimi. The super white tuna sashimi and the tempura fatty tuna are must haves.

Sharon C.

Yelp
One of the best places in Allston!!! The service is excellent and the food is so fresh! This place is so affordable for its quality and truly such a gem. We ordered an assortment of sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls, and handrolls. My favorite by far was definitely the uni and Chef Tony's Maki!! You really can't go wrong with anything ordered here. The food also comes out pretty quickly, despite the many takeout orders they have! This place definitely deserves 5 stars and has become one of my go-to places for satisfying a sushi craving. **Small space with limited seating, so prepare to wait if 2+ people**

Deborah C.

Yelp
Came here as a party of two for an 8pm dinner on Sunday night. The space is pretty small and only has three 3-person tables and one 2-person table, but we were seated right away. We ordered the Tori Karage, Jalapeno Twister, Alligator Maki, Spicy Scallop Maki, and Eel Maki. The karage was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. For the sushi, I have a bias towards eel, so the eel maki was my favorite. The employees are friendly, and the space is very peaceful and intimate. I would definitely come back for another laid-back meal of high-quality sushi.

Lina L.

Yelp
Fish Market is my favorite sushi place in Boston to go to and I tend to come here as the quality of their fish tastes superior and their special maki rolls leave a lasting impression. My friends and I came on a Friday night and were able to get seated quickly. We ordered the salmon sashimi, Hotate Hokkaiyaki, Spicy Crispy Salmon, Jalapeno Twister, Baked Spicy Scallop Maki, and Flying Dragon Maki which we paired with Ozeki Hana Awaka peach. The sparkling sake drink was honestly pretty good, and they gave a cute sake cup to pair with it. It was my first time trying out Hotate Hokkaiyaki and the server gave us these cute little spoons to scoop out the meat. It was not as savory as I anticipated, but I did enjoy the overall flavor. Out of all the special maki we ordered, the one that tasted the best was the Spicy Crispy Salmon. It was so good we ended up ordering a second roll of it! The Jalapeno twister was also solid. I did not really enjoy the flying dragon maki as it felt like there was an incorporation of too many flavors at once. We ended off our meal with deep fried green tea ice cream, which tasted pretty alright. I enjoyed the crispy exterior a lot, but I wished the ice cream was slightly sweeter. Overall, I enjoy coming here and trying out new things on their menu. While I do not really like their entrée dishes, I highly recommend their sushi rolls and avocado ball!

Yelp
Did took out Sushi Lunch, two orders of Uni sushi and Pork Katsu Japanese curry rice. Few years back I was amazed with this place and had fun eating there. What happened ? Different sushi chef, very unfresh / bad thin cut of fish and almost broken horrible roll, it was not even keeping a shape anymore after I took food home very carefully. Very Thin dry pork katsu with soupy very little amount of curry sauce, back kitchen guy seems doesn't have enough experience in Asian cuisine, I had to add my kimchi to finish rice... Maybe I was on worst day of the week or something but still, I wouldn't serve that type of food for customers. I understand it's hard to do good business especially these days of pandemic, but we need good food, we pay for sprit, sorry for bad review, please improve the level of food. And I know this place can do it !

Joie T.

Yelp
High quality sushi and creative rolls. My go to sushi spot even though the space is small. Things to order: Yellowtail Truffle Maki Toro Truffle Maki Avocado Ball Hiroshima Fried Oyster Chef Tony's Salmon Maki Dragon Eye Maki

Melena S.

Yelp
This place is GOOD. There aren't many affordable, quality sushi places in the Boston area but this is one of them! My friend suggested we come here and I'm so happy we did. It's small but there was so wait at all on a Sunday evening. Our server was okay but the food was great! I loved our rolls (Dragon Eye and Flying Dragon), they were so refreshing and the fish was fresh. We got the chirashi and the salmon was sooooo buttery. Yum. There were fatty tuna specials but they only had the least lean one but it was still so buttery. The fattier, leaner ones must be amazing. I really enjoyed my meal here and I can't wait to go back!

Amanda G.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Everything I've had has been good, but my favorite dish is definitely the chirashi. The fish always tastes very fresh and the service is consistently good. They also have an excellent selection of drinks.

Vian N.

Yelp
Amazing price, quality and truly a business to support. So so good! I got the sushi maki lunch and I am amazed by how good and fresh it is. You have to come here!

Yelp
New year's day. First lunch of the year. Where do we go? We were famished and so something closer to home was the best bet. And that's how we ended up at Fish Market Sushi Bar. So glad that we did! It's a small place. Three tables for groups of four or you can sit at the counter. But the ambiance is cozy and the service quite quick and attentive. They have lunch specials from Tue-Fri. But we ordered off the main menu, two special maki rolls - Spicy Crispy Salmon and the Seared Yellowtail. They were both so good! Each one of the rolls had 8 pieces each. The salmon roll had a bit of cream cheese in it which added to the flavor. The rolls were carefully crafted, almost like a work of art. Each piece dipped delicately in soy sauce, with a slice of pickled ginger was an explosion of flavor in every bite. Yum! To finish up our meal, we ordered a hana sake (peach) and the red bean fried ice cream. Oh wow! The drink was fine, but that ice cream was so so good. The outer cover was crisp yet light. That ice cream was sweet with a subtle hint of red bean. The combo was pure goodness. This is a must visit! Stop reading now and go get that fried ice cream, haha.

Bonnie L.

Yelp
Our favorite go to sushi spot in Allston. Whenever we want to eat out and can't think of a place, fish market will always come up as a choice for us. The restaurant sits not many people but the wait is usually not had as they do a very good amount of take out business now. They just recently renovated the restaurant and it looks even more modern and higher end now. The quality of the fish is always fresh and their cut is generous. The chefs are very friendly and we always chat when we go there. Staff is amazing there as well. Love their selection of fish there and this place honestly is one of the best hidden gem in the area.

Dave T.

Yelp
Price are as expected. The fish are very fresh and the service was amazing. Very small place, but that doesn't take away from the experience. I would come again. Parking is tough depending on when you come as it is street parking

Nancy H.

Yelp
Perfectly fine local sushi bar but the fish isn't as fresh or meaty as I hoped. I don't recommend the squid or the scallop sashimi or nigiri because the squid is a bit slimey and gelatinous while the scallop doesn't have a vibrant, slightly salty, yet refreshing taste but a dull meaty taste. The calamari had a strange rubbery consistency. The beef udon was good with the noodles perfectly silky smooth but getting beef slices rather than the usual sweet niku wasn't a good pairing. The curry pork katsu was really good if you like curry. The takoyaki was perfectly crispy with pieces of tako in every ball! At the end of the day, stick with the rolls, takoyaki, and curry pork katsu.

Peter P.

Yelp
Came here for Father's Day and everyone loved it! Note that certain items will sell out earlier in the day like toro and uni. Best items on the menu: Yellowtail Truffle Maki (AMAZING) Hiroshima Fried Oyster (3 per order) Chef Tony Salmon Maki Baked Spicy Scallop Maki Okay items: Kobe Beef Maki Gyudon Katsudon

Ann C.

Yelp
Had some disappointing takeout from here recently. Ordered the sushi for two which took 45 min instead of 30 min for takeout. The sushi itself was not fresh. A couple pieces of nigiri tasted old. The pieces of fish were poorly cut as well, with varying sizes. The two sushi rolls it came with were not great. One of them had a fried shrimp in it but it tasted old and tough. The other had avocado and crab, the avocado was mushy and souring. Won't be returning.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
My only disappointment is that I've lived in Allston for almost two years and just now tried Fish Market. The sushi here is delicious, fresh, and not too expensive. This is the epitome of a great tiny neighborhood sushi restaurant. I am already planning my next trip - and I was here only about 3 hours ago!

Songyi W.

Yelp
I've walked by this little restaurant at least 20 times over the past 5 years. Maybe because it is really small and didn't appear anything special that I've never paid attention to it until I read all the great reviews on Yelp recently. My visit to the Sushi Bar did not disappoint! The White Tuna (slightly seared) appetizer with crunchy garlic was amazing and had the perfect combo of flavor and texture. The Scallop & Uni dish was super fresh and sweet (although it was very small). And they have so many different kinds of Maki at very decent prices. The highlight of meal is definitely the Foie Gra Maki - Inside out yellowtail maki topped with seared foie gra and truffle We salt. The foie gra was so juicy and buttery and just melted instantly in my month. We also tried the Toro Truffle Maki (I love truffle if you haven't noticed) - a special Maki they had that day with shrimp tempura inside topped with fatty tuna and shaved truffle. It was also delicious, but I wish the tuna pieces were larger! I was surprised that such a small place had so many creative offers and the quality of the fish was among some of the best I've had in Boston. The only complaint was that the waitress (there is only 1 waitress) was unpleasant and not very welcoming. I know that they are always busy and she must have had a long day, but it would be much nicer if she can at least try to put on a smile and be more friendly. The service needs to match the quality of the food for me to give a 5-Star review!

Parker H.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious sushi. Limited seating inside but it's perfect for take out. You can see them making the sushi right in front of you

Chrystelle T.

Yelp
BIG FAN. My newest favorite sushi place in Boston. Ordered take out online and picked it up. It was nicely packed and still warm. Place is small, cozy, what some might call "a hole in the wall." Not sure if I'd wanna actually sit down and eat there cause the space seems so tight and crammed. Food is great though. For sushi, we ordered the Foie Gras Maki, Chef Tony Salmon Maki and Spicy Tuna. My favorite was Chef Tony Salmon Maki, must get!! Spicy Tuna has such a generous amount of tuna that I was so surprised. Quality is amazing, both sushi rice and the raw fish itself, and super reasonable for their prices. Highly recommend if you're around the Allston area!

Christina K.

Yelp
Got takeout last Saturday night. Food: 4/5 We got Chirashi, which was very good with a nice variety of fresh fish, in addition to some salmon/tuna/yellowtail nigiri. Decent portions. We also got edamame, which needed more salt, and yaki udon, which was good, but noodles were over cooked. Overall, sushi 5/5 and other food 4/5. Service: 5/5 Food ready on time and good prices.

Graham K.

Yelp
Stopped in for take-out lunch. My friend and I ordered four different rolls between us, one of which had to be one of their truffle offerings. Yes you read that right, a few of their rolls feature black truffle shaving and/or truffle oil. Surprisingly, this did not overpower the flavor of the fish (they used salmon) and instead heightened the umami flavor. The shop itself is actually fairly small, a bar faces the sushi chef (who didn't speak any English) and there are a few tables. Front windows take up the entire entry so there is plenty of natural light. The other rolls we ordered were clean, fresh, and had tasty combinations of fish and vegetables. Certainly no problems with any of the rolls. Maybe not the highest end, but 4 rolls for lunch set us back $50, so the quality/quantity/price ratio was pretty darn good

Thomas A.

Yelp
A solid place but with a few misses. Overall i net this place with 3.5 stars. Apps - the hiroshima fried oysters were just okay. It was heavily breaded and it tasted greasy. Cannot taste the oysters at all. The seared foie gras with truffle nigiri is the bomb here! It's not fish, but it doesn't matter, you want to order it and try it. The kobe beef nigiri is a miss and should be avoided. The beef was torched and overcooked. The jalapeno hamachi is delicious The sushi deluxe platter is okay. Although I prefer Toraya and Daikanayama.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because on the phone their customer service is great. I ordered on a Sunday around 5:30 for pickup. My confirmation order said it would be ready at 6:43...... if it's going to take that long, I would like delivery. I called and they said it would only be 30 minutes to make and they could switch to delivery. GREAT! Super ... it's 7:07 and my order still isn't here. We called about 45 minutes ago to ask if we had an estimated delivery time. They said it was already in transit. I think the worst part is knowing my sushi has been sitting in a warm car for at least 45 minutes now. Very disappointed. If you want to eat here I'd recommend take out or dining in! 7:20 and our order finally arrived!! However my salmon roll has cooked salmon (what??) and the sushi was warm. Great customer service on the phone but overall very disappointed.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Swung by for a lunch special pick up, and I can definitely say that their specials are very economical for the quality of fish! Got the $10 special.

Michael M.

Yelp
This place in incredible! The sushi was amazing and tasted so fresh. Our waitress was super nice. Very small but comfy place! Got the flaming dragon maki which was amazing, tempura with spicy avocado salad, and more! 100% recommend.

Jing R.

Yelp
First time to eat O-Toro! The time it come into my mouth, I feel all the fish and rice melt. I love fatty toro so much! And the urchin is also perfect, all the sushis and Maki are so tasty that I will definitely come back!

Angela S.

Yelp
Favorite sushi restaurant in Boston, without going extravaganza on dollar signs. Cozy and clean, simply decorated sushi spot with very friendly service and a full menu of all things raw seafood. What surprised me was the full list of warm foods as well, like takoyaki and rice bowls. The fish is fresh, which is important point number one at all sushi places. Go out of the box and try things like uni on scallop. You shall be pleasantly surprised. They do not take reservations so go early on weekends. Check the specials board on the wall for seasonal items first instead of ordering first, only to realize there were even more interesting options. They do serve alcohol. Only small tables and the sushi bar. One day I will try their omakase which is in the $50s range if I recall correctly. Definitely high on my recommendations list. Worth the train ride and or what was likely a search for parking.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Cute, small, intimate sushi bar in Allston that's def worth the drive out. This was my second time visiting and I love both the food and service here, and the price is unbeatable for some good quality sashimi. FYi this place is NOT BYOB anymore lol... Appetizers: - Agedashi Tofu: 3.5/5 -- I would say a little mushier than I typically like - Hamachi Kama: 5/5 -- came out at the end of our meal but it was delicious! The Hamachi was cooked to flaky perfection and the flavor was great, not too salty or dry - Fish w/tempura app: 1/5 (forget the name, but see picture... don't order this. was not very good) Sashimi: all 5/5, generous slices of sashimi, fish tasted fresh and the toro was amazing - salmon - tuna - toro with truffle (FAVORITE!) - unagi - foie gras Pics: Hamachi kama: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fish-market-sushi-bar-allston?select=_-rQDagawEgfDXWsnInOuw&userid=TMr5z8JDuGPc0I-5WfpBMQ Toro with truffle: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fish-market-sushi-bar-allston?select=ugrtBSv6jlPT6apCohspDg&userid=TMr5z8JDuGPc0I-5WfpBMQ Sashimi: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fish-market-sushi-bar-allston?select=ABPlKxiNJWwqBHfT3KOPnA&userid=TMr5z8JDuGPc0I-5WfpBMQ

Yelp
Came here for lunch. It was quite about 1145 and it opens at 1130. I tried their lunch special of 3 sushi pieces and 1 roll. Came with a small salad and small miso. Service was quick and friendly. A few tables you can sit at inside but don't expect huge space. The fish quality was actually impressive for price. Both in the roll and the sushi pieces. Very tasty and fresh. Only downside is I felt the portion was a bit smaller than average lunch special. The rolls are definitely on the smaller side. Overall would definitely recommend.

Selina W.

Yelp
I love, love, love Fish Market. After a trip to Japan and eating sushi in the land of sushi, I couldn't find anything that compared. Fish Market is close. Their fish quality is amazingly fresh. Get everything on the menu, as you'll never be disappointed. I love their tuna choices. The one downside is that everyone loves Fish Market. It's hard to order online and expect your order to be completed by the quoted or scheduled time, as they can get extremely busy. They will call you if you place an order on their website and it will take longer than expected. They also take orders through food delivery apps and by calling it in, but it seems like because of the multiple forms of placing orders, they don't account for how busy they'd get. I'd order during odd afternoon hours if you want to give it a try! Dinner time on the weekends are the worst wait times. You won't be disappointed though, because it is worth every bite.

Rae S.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place but was considerably disappointed by the quality of food and their lack of authenticity/expertise in the cuisine. We got the toro, Uni sashimi, sashimi deluxe, spicy miso soup, eel hand roll, sweet eel maki, shrimp tempura and hot green tea. Toro was cut weird and too chewy (pictured), Uni was just ok- tasted a bit metallic, tempera batter was a bit thick and not flaky, spicy miso soup was not bad- it actually had pieces of seafood in it, sashimi deluxe counted imitation crabmeat roll as it's 16th piece of sashimi (?!?!) and the sweet eel maki was actually pretty creative with its presentation (pictured). Total bill was $99.50 for cash payment, including tax, tips. Overall, this fish market was exactly a fish market - primitive and bland. If you are looking for an authentic sushi bar- look elsewhere.

Yelp
Fish Market serves quality sushi, but without the pizzazz and exorbitant prices since it's more of a local sushi spot. Be sure to arrive early to snag a table since there's limited seating and they do not take reservations. Our party of 5 dined here recently on a Sunday evening and spent $70 per person (including apps, high-end items, sake, tax, gratuity). Can't go wrong with any fish sashimi (so fresh and pretty generous slices), the foie gras truffle sushi (so fragrant), and the hand rolls (well-wrapped and balanced). Their makis were creative and delicious too (see photos). If you're a sauce/dressing fan, definitely order these items: black cod (aka. sablefish aka. butterfish) [hot] appetizer with miso glaze, the avocado ball [cold] appetizer, and the sashimi salad with the most amazing house-made lemon mayo dressing and ginger dressing - seriously considering popping bottles of these on NYE! The only negative would be the raw scallop and sea urchin, which did not taste as fresh as the fish that evening. Service: our server was extra informative, i.e. letting us know that the toro tempura maki was minced (vs. whole piece), and that there were actually two separate dressings for the salad. Food pacing was perfectly timed, which we appreciated given the small table space. PS. If you pay cash, you get 10% off but there will be 18% auto-gratuity.

Yelp
Limited seatings but worth the wait, even if you're standing out the door. Prices are relatively cheap compare to other places and fish are always fresh, meaning sushi is always two thumbs up!!! One of my favorite, most beloved sushi bar. Remember, this is an extremely small restaurant/bar and they do not take reservations. Try going during non-busy hours if you want to try it out without interruptions with the door keep swinging open with eager customers waiting to be seated. I have so many favorites from the "basic sushi" to the more higher quality sushi and some other entrees. I just sincerely love everything I order as long as I'm dining here. Only had one minor bad experience when I did a pick-up 'cause the sushi didn't taste as fresh as other times but this is one in a gazillion times that I have ordered from them. If this is your first time, try order a little bit of everything or just straight up sushi and an appetizer to share. One of the server, Tina, is always friendly and smiling at everyone.

Yelp
Pros: large selection and special makis were tasty. Good service and option to pay cash for 10% off. Cons: small venue so sitting is cramped. The ac unit at the entrance was leaking fluids as you entered so it would be nice if they fixed it so it didn't feel ghetto.

Yelp
I was seeing a show next door so I dropped in for convenience. The food was amazing though and so was the service. The fish quality really blew me away and the care with each dish was impressive. I started with the Scallop tempura with yuzu dressing topped with sea salt and shiso leaf since it was such a unique sounding dish. It was incredible! I also got salmon nigiri, hamachi nigiri plus a hamachi roll. Every bite was incredible! I was very happy discovering for once I brought cash and they give a 10% discount when you pay with cash. I cannot wait to go back when I am in Boston again in a few months!

Yelp
Literally my favorite sushi place in Boston. I have only ubereats from here twice, but both times were phenomenal. The fish quality is great and they have a wide variety. I love the scallop handroll; its usually so hard to find raw scallop in Boston in non-upscale restaurants. Also the handroll has a lot of scallop in it so it well worth the money. Their dragon eye maki is also very delicious and one of my favorites. I totally recommend. Even for ubereats, I can tell they put in a lot of care for each roll and package it nicely to eat.

Yelp
Rough week means treating myself to sushi dinner and nothing is better than sushi that gets delivered to your door. I ordered the Spicy Maki combo which consists of spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy scallop rolls. First things first, I LOVE that they included a scallop roll in the combo. It's unique, never seen any restaurant offer that and I happen to love scallop. Second, Fish Market delivered me the best sushi I've ever had and I was shocked because it was delivery and I didn't expect that! I cherished every bite specially that scallop; it's so fresh. I've found my go-to sushi delivery place and I look forward to trying Fish Market in person! UPDATE - Stick to the sushi. I tried some cold ramen and it was tasteless.

Yelp
Yum! Came here for lunch on a rainy summer Sunday. We sat down right after they opened and during the whole time no other customers came in..... found that sort of strange considering our great experience w the food. We ordered a sushi sashimi deluxe to share and a seared yellowtail roll. Both were delicious and high quality fish, some of the best I've had in the are. My only compliant is that the price was a bit high for the amount of food we got.

Yelp
Amazing sushi. Highly recommend the dragon eye maki and the scallop hand roll. Both tasted super fresh. I hardly find good affordable raw scallop in Boston. I ordered on DoorDash and the preparation of the food was quick. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Best place to get sushi lunch. Need a quick filling fresh sushi lunch and not have your wallet emptied out? This is your place. Not only are their rolls and appetizers great for a big party, they are also great for a simple meal. Their lunch specials cannot be beat. Where else can you get soup, salad, maki, nigiri, veg tempera for $13 these days?

Yelp
This was a really great sushi spot. Extremely fresh food, unique menu, and cold Sapporo beer. Wonderful find in Allston.
