The food itself was decent, nothing worth writing home about. The catfish basket came with a palm size serving of fried fish, along with a tiny 1/8 of a cup serving of coleslaw and four tiny hush puppies. You can't tell in the picture, but under the tartar sauce is the coleslaw. Same little squirt cup container, a mouthful of coleslaw if you're lucky. Almost four dollar up charge to substitute a side salad. The draft beer was cold, I'll give them credit for that, at almost six dollars a pint, I would hope so. Waitress was very polite and attentive, and the whole vibe is pretty upbeat, with southern rock playing on the sound system. This place is in the same parking lot as the La Quinta hotel, and i feel that's the main source of customers. YMMV.

Google
One of my favorite restaurants when I come to Orlando. Fish On Fire has been a favorite of FlightSafety International instructors and students for as long as I've been coming here (15+ years). The go-to is the blackened fish sandwich. Very tender and juicy. On this occasion, some of the fries were a little undercooked, but that was my only complaint. Service is friendly and was reasonably fast, even during the lunch rush. Decor is Florida dive bar themed with an inside/outside bar. Jimmy Buffett would have felt at home here.

Google
Absolutely love Fish On Fire! The atmosphere is fantastic—really cozy and inviting, and the live band playing at certain times adds such a great vibe. The food is always perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor every single visit. I’ve been here a few times, and without fail, both the food and service are consistently on point. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a great meal and a fun, lively environment! Five stars all the way!

Google
Food was amazing! I had the Fatty Melt which was huge! Partner had the French Onion chicken which was delicious and she loved, and daughter had the Mahi tuna that she gobbled down. Thursday night was local music from 70s hits. All over a great time!

Google
Stopped in this quaint place while on vacation and wonderfully impressed. First, as we were getting out of our ride from the hotel, the people at the outdoor greeted us enthusiastically while letting the workers know we were coming into the establishment. From that point on, things got better- service was awesome and we happened to stop in on open Mike night. The band was good however, the Food is their beat calling card. As the name states, the Fish is on Fire.

Go see Miss. Kathy for the best margarita. Pick up a slice of banana cream pie if you’re cool. (;

Google
We have been wanting to try for a while. This is one of the few places that will cook your fish you bring in. My kid had caught a black fin tuna a few months ago and we wanted to see what a restaurant would do with it. We got it done 3 ways blackened and two other ways. All three were good and the sides were nice. The place has a beachy vibe. They have a pass through bar so expect the restaurant to be warm inside. We went relatively early and they had a band playing and so it was a bit loud.

Google
Cold bottled beer. Generous Mahi cut cooked perfectly, with fries and delicious tartar sauce. Watch sports or listen to live music. Highly recommended local Orlando spot.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Don't forget to order the fish dip because it is outstanding. Everything we had was excellent. They offer live music which was good and not too loud. It resembles a dive bar but the food doesn't match that. The service was good. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Fun place for drinks. Service is friendly. Restaurant is very casual . Food is 50/50... I have eaten fish here twice. The first time it was fresh and good. The second time I tried the Mahi dinner. It tasted like it had been in a freezer for a week or two... The French fries were the best part of the dinner.., I won't be back...

Yelp
The food here is surprisingly good food for what one might call a 'dive' bar/restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. They also have live entertainment (and I was there on a Thursday evening). There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I had the catfish dinner which was as expected and tasty. My companion had the ribeye and commented it was fantastic. Recommend and worth a short drive if your good with the atmosphere.

Yelp
I will simply have to start with the food--Amazing! The fish is On Fire! My hat is off to the chef- well plated, amazing taste with perfect seasoning. I had the Maui. The others in my party had the fried catfish. Of course we sampled an were not disappointed. One did try the chicken basket; while it was good it was not as on fire as the fish. Sides of choice were the cheese grits and collard greens. I promise, I thought my great grandmother made it- they took me to a special place. We stoped in on vacation an was treated to live music- an unexpected bonus. Service was impressive and the atmosphere was nice. Clean restrooms, friendly waitstaff and awesome food. Will visit again when back in the area. A must try when you are in the area.

Yelp
Every now and then I stumble upon a special and unique place to eat and Fish On Fire is my most recent discovery. It's unusual to say the least. It's located on the edge of the MCO property and is a dive bar with a very good kitchen attached. I had dinner here last week before catching an evening flight home. Yelp location is accurate and using some kind of navigation to get here is a good idea because Fish on Fire doesn't even have a sign out front. When you arrive it's in a stand alone building with its own parking lot, The building has covered outdoor seating along with an interior that includes a combination full bar and dining room that also has a small band stage. You see, this country casual dive bar has live music most nights. I ordered the mahi mahi (blackened) upon the recommendation of the waitress for $22. For my two chosen sides I went with red potatoes and cheese grits. I also added a cup of their homemade chicken and rice soup for another $4. The soup came out quickly and was exactly as advertised as it did taste homemade and was delicious. The entree arrived shortly later with a nice sized filet of blackened mahi mahi that was tasty. It was accompanied by boiled red potatoes (very good) with a cup of melted butter for the fish and potatoes. The grits were in a separate bowl with grated cheese on top and yummy! Everything on my plate was an easy 4 score. Plus this bar/restaurant has a lot of character and ambience (4) too. If you are arriving or leaving from MCO do yourself a favor. Come by here for a meal/drink. You'll be glad you did!

Yelp
The food was good. After driving all day I wanted something healthy. I had fish and greens. I can't remember what fish I had. It was grilled and not over cooked. It was tucked away next to my hotel near the airport. It was a Saturday night and they had live music. I ate outside as the music was a little too loud. The prices were good.

Yelp
Fish on Fire is a great vibe - food is solid, drinks are good and service is great. Grab a drink, have some snacks, listen to the music and enjoy yourself!

Yelp
We went on a Friday night so it was pretty busy. The staff was very nice and helpful. The live music was nice but if you want to chat with a friend, I recommend sitting outside. The musician, Jeff Howell; was great. FoF features some good local acts. No cover. We ordered hush puppies as a starter and I had a combination shrimp dinner. It was ok, my sides were a little too salty. But otherwise ok. My friend had the shrimp and grits and she said it was a little bland. The surrounding area felt a little sketchy, but I can't say that I felt unsafe.
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
The grill is next door to our hotel so we picked it. There were lots of other customers when we arrived. It seems popular. They had live music. We opted to sit outside. The waitress was friendly. She seemed to want to make our experience a good one. She checked on us several times. She was apologetic about the order error. The food was ok. We started with the Parmesan stuffed shrimp. The shrimp was medium sized. I had the small burger. I asked for no bun and medium rare. It came with the bun and was well done. It tasted good. The fries were good. The coleslaw was soggy and flavorless. My dining companion had the mahi mahi fried tacos with rice and beans. The rice and beans had little flavor. The tacos had lots of cheese and the salsa was spicy. They were tasty.

Yelp
This was our first time here & we enjoyed our dinner. We had hush puppies for an appetizer & they were good.the rhemoulade sauce is delicious. Our dinners were delicious! Fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, grilled shrimp! All devoured & I enjoyed it. The blackened mahi sandwich was delicious. Def worth eating here

Matthew C.

Yelp
Stopped in for an early dinner and was nothing but disappointed. We sent our fried grouper sandwich back, because the breading was akin to leather, and replaced it with a burger that was almost average. $20 dollar burger plates served on cheap Dollar Store hamburger buns with frozen crinkle cut fries. Wendy's would have been money better spent.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended for the fish dip. I wasn't expecting it to be 5 stars as I read the reviews before going. If you're into fish salad aka dip this may be the place to get the best but it was more like fish moouse than dip. Fish tacos wasn't bad but also wasn't great.l

Yelp
If you're in the mood for seafood, then this hole in the wall location near the MCO airport may just do the trick. It doesn't have "camp" in the name, so it's not the best (I have a theory that any fish camp is some good food), but the food was good and the staff is friendly! They have some pretty good catfish which I got in basket form. It was done right with the right breading and size so you weren't eating too much catfish without breading. The waitress did recommend trying the catfish filet and I may do that sometime. Shrimp tacos are my favorite type of tacos and their version were nothing special. I'd stick to something else as they just had normal taco ingredients instead of the usual slaw topping which makes a Shrimp Taco sing. The men's room has an odd little alcove with 2 urinals that may make it a little cozy for the guy in the far urinal to get out without getting a little too close to the 1st urinal guy. If it's someone who drops their pants to their ankles to urinate, then the risk is up to you! It wasn't overly busy on a Saturday around noon so if you're looking to avoid a potential big crowd or loud bands, that may be the time to try. It looks like they have a house drum set, so I'd imagine there's music on various days.

Yelp
Amazing dive bar with good service. Mahi platter was tasty well cooked. The fish 1 beer $26.

Yelp
I have lived in the Orlando area for more than 25 years and had never been to Fish On Fire. It was Friday night around 5:45. There were quite a few tables unoccupied. The restaurant was a little on the warm side. You definitely don't want to be dressed up in Jeans and long sleeve shirts. It's a very casual place. Our servers were friendly and quick to get the food out. I had the grouper basket. It came with slaw, fries and hush puppies. My guests had the fried shrimp basket and the Parmesan stuffed shrimp. We were there at happy hour which was less impressive. Beer was 50 cents off and well brand drinks were also 50 cents off. No discounts for wine. The local bands play nightly at 7 , but we were on our way just as they were starting Fish on Fire would be great if you didn't mind sweating while you eat and eating fried food baskets. We probably will not return. .
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Very chill restaurant. You seat yourself upon arrival. They have a live band play music most evenings and they have a trivia night on Tuesdays. You can also play trivia through your phone that's connected to their TV while you wait for your food which I thought was fun! The food tastes average. Nothing really special. My favorite dish was the onion strings. Hush puppies were good too but the entrees could've used more flavor. Our server, Kat, could've been more attentive. She was never around when we needed her. They also forgot to bring out my side of hush puppies with my tacos. By the time they arrived at the table, I was already done with my meal. Makes me think the order was never put in correctly to the system. This was not a special experience and it did not leave us wanting more. I don't see us returning anytime soon, if at all.

Yelp
LOVVVEEED. This bar! It reminds me of those Florida key or any other island bars. Simple but beautiful inside and an open bar and outside tables.!drinks are soooo cheap! But best part, they had a an amazing bar doing cover from 90s and 2000s like wooow loooove! Been before but will be again

Yelp
It's been a few years, but I absolutely loved Fish on Fire. The music was Awesome, the crowd was amazing and a great time was had by all. The food was good, but we really loved Tree-oH, the band. They played a variety of great music and really kept us going. The servers were fun to talk to, and our glasses were never empty. We need to head back again, it's been way too long !!!

Yelp
Our family of 19 was in town for vacation. The guys went fishing off of the Gulf Coast and had an amazing catch that they wanted someone to cook and found this spot on Google. Jessica took great care of a pretty demanding party. I'm sure we were a handful for her and she never missed a beat. Trivia Tuesday was a hoot and our family enjoyed playing. Bacon wrapped shrimp were added to the meal as starters. They prepared our fish three different ways: Blackened, Key West and fried. All were good but I think Key West was the favorite at the table. For sides, we had coleslaw, beans and rice, some of the sweetest summer corn on the cob and bread. Awesome service. Great food. Fun atmosphere.

Yelp
So happy to write a review for Fish on fire restaurant. This is a place that is inhabited by a lot of locals based on where it is. But the food is always done well, price right, and great drinks. Most times you can go there during the day and the owner is there and just enjoying the pub and the patrons. For years I always get the shrimp basket a the in-house Long Island iced tea. Lately I've been getting their blackened grouper really enjoying it. The craziest thing is that some how I ordered a pulled pork sandwich at a seafood restaurant, which is typically not something I do, but that pulled pork was one of the best I ever had. highly recommend this place, and catch them on nights with the live music is best
google avatar

Yelp
I remember when Fish on Fire was a little dive bar. It had a pool table and friendly staff and owner and made a nice fish sandwich. Then the Fish caught on fire. Seriously it burned down. When they rebuilt it, it lost that loving feeling of a dive bar and became bigger and more of a restaurant. I think they did things much better on a smaller scale. I still like to stop by from time to time because they have live music. I'm glad Fish is there for drinks and music.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to grab lunch when traveling out of MCO. I like their blackened grouper sandwich, it's delicious
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
I got the blackened grouper sandwich. If I were rating it on that, it would be 2 stars. Little ramekin of coleslaw was not good.... Maybe a bad batch or maybe they need to dial in the ratios but it was bitter and lacked flavor. Fries were fine. Same with the ranch and tarter, but my food was just fine at best. With the grouper it was the thin, likely farmed / frozen and kinda fishy tasting filet. It wasn't the thicker nice slice of grouper filet I was hoping for and for a $16 sandwich I just want better, particularly if you have fish in your name in Florida. I guess I've just been spoiled by more fish market type grouper. Okay the bad is out of the way, I loved the vibe. Tiki bar feel. Live music, $6 for my blonde ales (just 4 beers on tap, 420 is the ipa, local blonde and 2 light beers), service was slammed but adequate and just avoid the grouper. The mahi filet looked fantastic. Same with the burger I saw. I heard someone mention fresh cobia, also probably a good choice. Shrimp looked good.... Just don't get the grouper! Older crowd, live music, drinks and food. I'll give it another go when I'm back in town.

Yelp
Fish on Fire was a pretty average dining experience - nothing special and nothing to write home about, at least not based on our experience. The parking is easy, the service is friendly (albeit a little unprofessional- our server sat down at our table while taking our order), and the interior decor gives off strong fisherman or wharf vibes. From the outside looking in, the storefront looks a little unkempt. Presentation is not Fish on Fire's strong suit - our cocktails were served in regular water glasses. Our meal was good but not great. I ordered the Shrimp Shrimp Shrimp which is a basically a bunch of shrimp prepared in different ways and served with two sides of your choice. The grilled and fried shrimp were very good, but I was not a fan of the stuffed shrimp. My partner ordered the fried alligator which was very chewy and not very flavorful, unfortunately. He did really enjoy the cup of complimentary clam chowder that we received. Overall, I would say this is a place to go for a very laidback, no-frills-meal.

Andie H.

Yelp
We had a large party with our 30th class reunion and the service was amazing! The atmosphere was super fun and the live music was awesome! Thank you so much!

Ross W.

Yelp
We hosted out 30 year high school reunion a Fish on Fire and it was amazing. They had great food, outstanding service, and stellar music. I would deff host another event there again.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Walking into this establishment with no working air conditioning should have been my que to leave. The mahi mahi sandwich was very tough and inedible. The shrimp and grits were served on a plate not a bowl, under seasoned, plain and cheese tasted cheap. I honestly do not know how this restaurant is still open. The photos on yelp do NOT match with the food served. Do not recommend.

Alice J.

Yelp
I ordered the onion straws and they were really good. The shrimp basket was good too. Our service was slow and this was on a Sunday night. We sat outside and unfortunately were right near the trash can where all the empty bottles were put. I realize that the servers are busy but they threw and slammed the bottles into the can. To say it was loud is an understatement. There were even some overserved customers who apparently thought it was funny to slam the bottles into the can so that they'd break.
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
Expect a rustic American dive bar with a great fish menu and live music! Fun, real people who cater to the local crowd but word gets out and out of towners slip in. We're glad we did. Food and fun was joyous. It's a gem of a place.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Kurt the manager was very hospitable and friendly. Server was also very attentive. Would go back

Chris M.

Yelp
Great food and great prices! I've been there many times and had nothing but great experiences. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Angela T.

Yelp
Tried the blacken grouper sandwich and the Mahi entree, key west style. The grouper was excellent! It's a casual chill environment which it met my expectations. Food is going to be great- service is going to be lack luster. Especially on busier days or nights when a band is playing. I would recommend sitting by the bar.

ava b.

Yelp
I've been coming for quite sometime. The food is fantastic, you can tell the chefs work hard however the service seriously needs improvement. Management is not what it used to be. I have watched higher ups scold their servers which is never the way to talk to your staff. In the past, I have had both Natalia and Colton as servers and they are absolutely fantastic. Quick, efficient, and great attitudes. I went in a few weeks ago on a somewhat busy night and had a different server who I didn't recognize, I believe her name was summer. The other servers had to take care of our table more than we even saw her as she was constantly disappearing or ignoring us. I know the management has recently changed, but I would definitely consider making a change again after how I saw the manager speaking to his servers when it was clearly not their fault speaks volumes about what this restaurant has turned into. I unfortunately won't be visiting again after my past experience but I am grateful for the other servers for stepping up! Great job, we even tipped out another server because she took care of us more.

Mike S.

Yelp
Oh and did I mention the staff! This is the best place I can think of!!! The people the audience everyone is so nice! Read my other review about the food but this time we did the burger too! Oh my goodness! Seriously do yourself a favor and eat here!

Yelp
Pros: Great food Cons: Racism My group of friends (4 white one black) sat at a table together. We got a couple looks from some customers but I didn't think anything of it. 15 minutes later, a group of ~4 black people come to sit down at the table next to us and they're told that it's $20/person/seat. They come ask my black friend if he had to pay cover, and seemed pretty annoyed when he explained we did not. Some time after that, a white couple came and took the seats and they weren't charged cover either. The seafood was amazing though, like some of the best fresh caught fish and shrimp I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection. (I recommend to get the mahi mahi blackened.) And their key lime pie was superb. Also our waitress was very nice. I don't think she was involved in the whole thing with the other group. So I'm not really sure how to feel about this place because the food was great, but on principle I can't give it 5 stars. -2 for racism, the lighter your skin the better the service.
google avatar

Russ C.

Yelp
super food and the review about racism is crap. Black wait staff and they don't hate white people either. Not fancy and good bar, easy to find

Susan T.

Yelp
This is a dive restaurant that serves frozen farm raised fish. The fish portions were small and the sides were bland. They seem to have good beer specials as it is a drinking establishment. It is not the type of place you go to for the ambiance, food, or service
google avatar

Nicklette N.

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday afternoon I ordered the catfish & hush puppies My husband got the mahi shrimp and steak The catfish wasn't bad but could've been a little more seasoned The mahi was delicious (blackened) Overall I would return

Yelp
Had the fried grouper basket and bulleit smashed. Food was good and the drink was ok. Service was inattentive. Took a long time to order and a long time to get their attention.

Yelp
We were craving fried seafood when we left the beach. We drove to Fish on Fire because we have seen & driven past this place many times. We arrived early afternoon, plenty of parking. There is a bar open to the parking lot. There is outside seating. Sign as you enter instructs us to seat ourselves. We chose a table by the window. The table was not cleaned properly. In fact, the table was sticky. The napkin stuck to the table. Very off-putting, but we wanted to try the food. Our server promptly introduced herself and took out drink order, two lemon waters. We ordered fried catfish platter with fries, hush puppies and an additional side of fried shrimps. I ordered the fried shrimp basket with fries, coleslaw and an additional side of hush puppies. The food was good. It was all fried perfectly crispy. The fries were seasoned and yummy. The coleslaw was just ok. The hush puppies could've been sweeter, but I liked that they were not dense and heavy. The service was a little off, but we were served hot food promptly and were checked on often to ensure we were ok.
google avatar

Inoel R.

Yelp
This place was great. We happened to go when a band was performing and the ambiance was amazing. The service was good and the food of course was flavorful.
google avatar

Allie L.

Yelp
We love Fish on Fire! This has become a must-do anytime we are in Orlando and it is our first stop from the airport. The ambience is lovely. Once you come inside you feel like you are in a coastal tiki bar and not in an Orlando parking lot. The food is lovely, so fresh and good. I had an appetizer of shrimp in a Cajun butter sauce. It was served with bread that was sitting in the sauce and that bite of butter soaked bread was one of the best bites I've ever had! The rest of my group equally loved their meals. We will return every time we are in Orlando!
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
A true dive bar with a strong local following. This night a favorite band (of brothers) from Brazil. The place was packed and the cover band was pretty good. Daily special of Frog Legs was so-so but the catfish was terrific. Sides of greens and cheese grit were very well prepared. Service was a tad slow, but understandable as it was very crowded and loud - maybe too loud.
google avatar

Stormy O.

Yelp
Great little place to pop in to after a flight since it's close to the airport! A great quick and affordable bite to eat

Jim L.

Yelp
Their Big Bob burger was grilled to juicy perfection. I've had equal success with various fish sandwiches.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
The place was packed. We found a seat though fairly quickly. We only waited on our delicious dinner for 20 minutes. The Grouper is fresh and very flavorful. My daughter loved the shrimp taco's. My husband said the fried fish basket was wonderful too! My other daughter had the Tuna and collard greens. Yumm. All the plates come with garlic bread.
google avatar

Trevor J.

Yelp
Excellent seafood. Fun atmosphere. Quick service. Good price for portions. I had the fish tacos.

Yelp
I had a great couple meals at this place now! We go out on the lake all the time over here at Conway, and our friends said this is their favorite spot so we popped in after a day in the sun to give it a try! It's a super relaxed environment, definitely perfect for lake-goers because there's no need to get all fancy! The food was great! My boyfriend got this absolutely massive meal with steak, mahi and shrimp, with corn on the cobb and potatoes if I remember correctly.. it's the most expensive thing on the menu and I'm pretty sure it's still less than $30! He loved every bit of it. I had a funny experience my first time choosing something to eat because I don't eat seafood so I thought, I'll get a burger! I ordered the Mushroom Melt, which was in the burger section on the menu.. it said tomato, melted cheese, mushrooms.. well I got it and that's quite literally what it was! It was a vegetarian option! I loved it! I don't know why I didn't catch on right away but it was a pleasant surprise, just so funny when I took a bite and got half way through the sandwich before I realized... makes sense now why the lady looked at me funny when I said medium rare. We came here again for a birthday gathering casual out on the patio area, the bloody mary's are only $3 and they also have bottled Angry Orchard for like $5 I think. Win, win!
