Amazing First Walk and Wade Experience! I had an incredible time on my first walk and wade trip with FishOnTheFly. Eric was an outstanding guide—extremely knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and super patient. He made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free, even for a beginner like me. We ended up catching 14 fish and lost 6 more (due to my own rookie mistakes!), but it was an absolute blast from start to finish. What really stood out was that Eric made himself available afterward to answer my questions about gear and fishing techniques, which I really appreciated. Eric is an excellent guide. We hired him for a 1/2 day small mouth float on the Juniata River. My girlfriend doesn't fish much and is still learning and he put her on some good fish with good instruction and encouragement. He had excellent confidence flies that he tied that proved to be successful all afternoon. I was on a 9' 5wt Helios Blackout that he provided and gave me a tip that helped me blast my casts out much farther to reach rising fish. Game changer. His instruction was professional as was his delivery. He is easy to talk to and sometimes we just reeled in our rods and talked. Fishing isn't always about numbers and how big your biggest fish was. It's about a bond you create with the river and those you're with. He put us on great fish and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. Hire him.

Eric did a great job guiding my father and I for a couple of float trips. While my father and I are experienced bait caster fishermen, we're still considered beginners in fly fishing. Eric gave us a lot of great pointers and managed to put us on fish in the middle of the tougher summer months. We had a great weekend of fishing and enjoyed getting to know Eric along the way. Eric grew up in the Pequea, PA area so he can give you a lot of recommendations for places to stay and other things to do in the area, just give him a call. I'll definitely schedule another trip with Eric if I’m in the neighborhood again.

I went fishing with Eric on April 18th, 2025. Growing up, I fly fished for bass and panfish, and I was eager to get back into it after years away—this time, targeting trout and learning more about how to fish for them. Eric not only put us on some trout, but he also shared a wealth of knowledge about trout fishing and fly fishing in general. I’ve grown up fishing saltwater and fresh water exclusively on rod and reel. I’ve always had an interest in fly fishing but with so much information out there I had no idea where to begin. Having Erick to guide us on our first trout experience was nothing short of incredible. The location was beautiful the gear was high end, the flies were designed and tied by Eric himself. It was a completely new fishing experience that garnered excitement for fishing that I haven’t had in decades. Eric is a wealth of knowledge and catered his instruction to our experience and ability. We learned technique, strategy, biology, and he put us on the fish. I’m really excited to grow my knowledge and experience and likely won’t be touching my old gear for a while. If you have an interest Eric is the best place to start. I will be referring anyone interested in the Northern, VA area. Only 2 hours from Loudoun. Can’t wait to get back for a float trip!

I love the tug, the fight and running of the beautiful fish. Had not been in a few years and Eric was highly recommended to me by a longtime guide and friend. I could not have had a better experience. Eric calm, patient, professional and knowledgeable about both the Steelies and this fishery. It’s always great to have a good guide, but to elevate to Eric was a pleasure both as a fisherman, but more as two guys who enjoyed fishing, talking and all the things that you if lucky get to experience on such a river. He put me on fish both days and we “hammered” them. Lastly, it was my personal honor to be with a man who so proudly served our country and gives back. If I could give 10 stars I would.
