3 Boston Restaurant and Bar Closings to Know, February 2025 | Eater Boston

"The North End taco pop-up-turned-permanent has shut down after less than a year of operation. It posted a temporary closure notice on Instagram last August, stating that it was "due to an unexpected family issue," but it appears to have never reopened; the website and online ordering system for the restaurant have been taken offline. The venture was run by the same folks behind fast-casual sushi spot Love Art Sushi." - Erika Adams

Growing up in the North End and watching the neighborhood transform has been a wild experience. Some changes feel strange while others arrive with the perfect kind of charm. Matcha Loves Boba is one of the special ones. Sitting right on Hanover Street, it fits the rhythm of the neighborhood with ease and adds something fresh and uplifting. Our family loves both matcha and boba so finding a place that celebrates the two together felt like a gift. This review is a little overdue. We actually visited only a few days after they opened and the whole team made us feel right at home. The staff were polite, warm, and incredibly generous with their time. They talked us through the menu, the flavors, and the creative combinations they were excited to offer. Their energy was sincere and inviting which is something you cannot manufacture. We ordered the blueberry matcha and it was genuinely delightful. Rich, vibrant, perfectly blended, and full of character. It had that smooth calm flavor of good matcha with the brightness of blueberry folded in. Every sip felt intentional and balanced. Matcha Loves Boba brings a beautiful spirit to the North End. Thoughtful drinks, kind people, and a space that feels like it belongs. We will absolutely be returning.

I got the premium watermelon matcha latte, one of the seasonal drinks, and it really hit the spot in the hot weather! The watermelon really shined through. Nice touch in the space with the simple syrup bottle if you wanted, though my drink didn't need it. I love what they're doing with their menu - lots of interesting combinations with matcha (ube sweet corn is next on my to try list)

Oh, my goodness... delicious! I had the Maine blueberry iced matcha latte with oat milk and premium matcha and it was amazing... very delicate... lovely blueberry purée, excellent matcha, and perfectly not-too-sweet! Can't wait to go back and try other local New England flavor creations!

Waited in line for the grand opening and got the Maine blueberry matcha with upgraded premium matcha. The matcha was good. But those Maine blueberries, omg. First time trying a Maine blueberry, and they're so sweet and delicious! They're tiny like a huckleberry, but super sweet. I'd recommend this place; it's a lot like the others in the city, but the staff were so happy / friendly & the drinks were great!

Little oasis from all the Italian chaos in the north end! Loved the Maine blueberry matcha, can tell how much effort they put into ingredient selection and partnering with local producers! First time having mini boba and would recommend adding 👅

The food is delicious! Super cute spot to enjoy a well portioned taco! The bowl is so filling and like the choices I have in creating my own bowl. My favorites were the: fried fish and chorizo! Overall, food is tasty. I highly recommend this and would definitely return to visit every time I am in the North End!
