Fish Town

I recently dined at your establishment based on a recommendation, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The fish did not taste fresh, the meat quality was poor, and even the shrimp was not prepared properly. It is very concerning when seafood, especially shrimp, is not handled or cooked correctly. The overall food quality was unacceptable. When I mentioned my experience to someone, they responded by saying they had not been there in years and that things have definitely changed. I also spoke to another individual who shared that the restaurant used to be good “back in the day,” but their last visit years ago was not satisfactory either. That was very discouraging to hear. In addition to the food, the cleanliness of the kitchen area and interior did not appear to be up to standard. For a Friday evening, the restaurant was not busy, which in hindsight should have been a red flag. Based on this experience, I will not be returning. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements.

1st time customer: ooof, definitely recommend this place. Ordered online for takeout. The food is perfectly seasoned and fried. My photo is only HALF of the food I was served. I had eaten the other half lol. I got the 5 oysters, 5 fish and 5 shrimp plate that’s $23 with my choice of catfish. One minor complaint, my coworker didn’t get her chicken on her order.

The food is always tasty. The temperature is hot. The service is friendly and efficient. The salad is gritty, I substitute for extra fries, no extra charge. The other sides are $1.50 more. Enjoy

I ordered the lunch with filet sole fish and they gave me this and tried to tell me that it was filet sole fish and just cut thicker. Which made no sense since I asked for filet and it shouldn’t even be thick. The fries also have no seasoning. Will not be back

I just made an order through Instacart. One meal I received was with half of my items. It was the fish combo. I was supposed to receive 5 filet sole pieces and 5 sand dab pieces along with fries and a green salad. I did not receive my sand dab and my fries. Instacart only gave me 5 dollars back. I will not buy fish from this place because who in their right mind would send half an order? And do not double-check it! Unless you like to rob your customers. A matter of fact, I only received 4 pieces of the filet of soul.

Snapper was a bit dry, but the flavor was great! And the fried wings??? OMG! So good! Shrimp was even better! Bread wasnt the freshest, but overall: Delicious food, definitely coming back. Fried items were definitely made FRESH. The salad was probably the best I've ever gotten from a chicken shack. For the price, you can't beat it. I'm a seafood lover, and this place has definitely earned a spot on my "good eats" map 💗

You wait for for at a counter but the food is good. No dine in area. Wanted fish and wasn't disappointed.

Love this place great fish spot to hit up if your in the area and in the mood for a good fish plate! This was $13.50 no tax paid cash. You get your monies worth here!!!! Catfish nuggets for the win

The food was amazing. Only gripe is that the pieces seem so small. The food was fresh and seasoned perfectly. Area is very sketchy. They don't open till 11am but they had the door open prior which made us think it was open. I would most certainly return. It always came with a nice side salad with real garden spring mix.

This is my go-to spot for fish because they don't disappoint. They are professional, efficient and make you feel at home while you're putting in your order. My favorite will always be cat fish fillet. This particular visit, I decided to go with the 18.99 meal if 11 pieces of fish. They aren't stingy either. You get you money and stomaches worth here. I didn't want the salad that comes with it so I paid the 1.50. fee to change my side to potato salad. It was very much worth it!!!!!!

Service was amazing. The fish was fried so hard that I couldn't enjoy it. The price point was great and the value was worth it. I just wish they had not fried it so hard. The hush puppies were like balls of concrete. I was extremely disappointed after eating there for years. I'm hopeful this was an isolated event. Barbara G

The orange rough is great Been here about five times A little off on the one of the five times but most of all it's consistent which is good that's what I'm looking for Consistency I don't care about the service friendly and none of that food's got to be fresh good and consistent And this is one of the The best in the hood...

First time here, the food was amazing, the service was excellent, I'd recommend this place for a grab to go lunch.

Always on point if you have a preference of how you like your fish cook they do accommodate my number one go too I loved they were open on Sundays it sucks they no longer service always pleasant it's in the neighborhood

Great food adorable fried first at a price point people can stomach. I mean...: you even get cheese curds with your fried catfish and fries as well! Really love the way they package their menu items with sauces and various other ingredient items you won't be disappointed! The pricing is amazing though for $20 you get a box of fish and fries overflowing with food.

I finally found an amazing fish fish spot! I've been searching forever around the "hood" for somewhere where it isn't salty. I grew up on 11th Ave and they have been around as long as I've been alive. I cannot wait to bring my mom back here. There is a liquor store next door too so I have my 40 and my fish. I love Crenshaw. I grew up here and love coming back to support the hood. Jose hooked it up! And shout out to the female cooks. Gracias!

The food is very good and well priced. The staff is very friendly and well staffed. The restaurant was also very clean. 5 stars all day long! I highly recommend Fish Town to all.

Catfish made moms ill. She stated it wasn't cooked all the way & possibly wasn't fresh.

I have been eating here for years. One of the best fish fry in town. We live in the valley and drive to LA just to eat here.

Great fish I only come here now for my fried fish the owner and the servers all are respectful nice people, I usually get the #1 which is 11pieces of catfish fries and salad, with these amazing pickles. Usually this plate lasts me about 2 days!

The food is great! It was hot, crispy and fresh. I got the 6pc tilapia and it's so good. The customer service was also amazing, the cashier was very friendly. I would recommend.

I really like the cat fish from this place. I am able to order my food thru the Uber eats app and then pick up when it is ready. Super fast and convenient it's my go to place since it is really close to home.

Rotten potatoes in potato salad, string in macaroni salad, fish was dry. Never again. I don't know what happened years ago it was good now I'm ready to call the health department

Very disappointed and unpleased with the fact the website states open at 10:30am, I get the location and told they open at 11. I am currently on lunch break, I want be able to stay until then as my lunch is only 30 mins. The food is amazing but make sure accurate information is given.

Actually really good! I've been wanting to try this place for a while but I decided to finally do so after smelling it while driving by. I got the fish and shrimp lunch special. The person at the counter was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The fish and shrimp were really good. Everything was nice hot and crispy. I liked the salad and bread, that's a nice touch. The batter was seasoned but not too salty. The tartar sauce was nice and sweet. Really happy to find a decent fish place in the area!

1st time coming here but has been a family favorite for many years for fish fry fridays! Got the filet sole, shrimp, oyster combo with potato salad, green salad with italian dressing, and a dinner roll. Portions were perfect! Really one dinner could satisfy two people. Fish was fried medium crispy and everything tasted fresh! The wait was only around 15-20 mins after ordering in-person and I was able to easily find parking in the lot. Officially my new fave fish fry!

A local neighborhood buy & fry restaurant in the heart of South Central LA. By the looks of this place, you'll know this is no Long John Silver, as it was looking a little rough on the outside, and just as bad on the inside. Display cases with misc. seafood on display. I probably wouldn't recommend coming here after dark. I ordered the fried fish & fried chicken wing combo, got 5 pieces of fish and 5 wings, also a good amount of French fries, a dinner roll and Coleslaw, it was more than enough as it was a good amount of food. Overall the flavor of the fish & chicken wings were pretty decent, moist and crispy, the rest of the platter was ok. 3 1/2 stars from me.

Delicious food always fresh definitely a 10/10 one of my go to spots any time I crave fried seafood. Hush puppies are amazing!

Fishtown (Arlington) never disappoint me. Everything from the fish to the fries are always cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Not salty!!! Fresh crispy salad with pickles and never stingy with the condiments. The tartar sauce is amazing..Mmmmmm You definitely get what you pay for and some. I placed my order via postmates and it arrived well packaged and hot. Thank you FISHTOWN

Fish fried too hard, no lid on potato salad, and no ranch dressing only Italian. I didn't like it

I've been going to this place since I was a little kid. It's still delicious to me. It looks rough on the outside but don't let that fool you. Good food and good people. Portion is good and so is the price!

I eat this grade A food a lot and they never fail to deliver great taste and consistency. I love the osters and all the fish the serve here the french fries are good plus its always fresh with no hassles to get your food. The seasoning is off the hook. Note: A Market is located next door parking is located in the front and adjacent parkway. Its really a gem that is located in the Los Angeles (Park Mesa) area.

Good fish as usual. I like to eat mine hot. Never had their chicken wings but I guess they're good also. The fries used to be delish.

Second time visiting first time. Excellent fish was delicious oysters delicious fries crinkle cooked well. Went back today because I like it the first time this time the fish red snapper. Excellent french fries go with fish they were brown had been soaked in grease. I tried to explain to the owner, or the guy with the piercings , he was very unprofessional had an attitude didn't want to leave but I took the fries out and I left them with him and if that's the way you do your customer service over french fries that was cooked either in dirty grease or either sitting under the light too long and turn brown, you had them covered up with the fish you don't have to do that especially when your fish was good, you should've been Courteous and had customer service skills to just re-cook some more fries and you refuse so that's why you got this review get together brother if you wanna stay in business because after a while, you can't keep feeding any and everybody Brown fries I know the area is kind of infested with people on drugs, but everybody is not eating anything and everything get it together soldier You know who I am because I spoke with you and I left those fries with you although I say the fish was good the salad was good but for you not to be want to exchange the fries didn't look at wasn't trying to get no free fries no extra anything just wanted fresh blessings to you and your business and you guys know exactly what I'm talking about brother yes I would recommend someone to come to Fishtown but check your food which is your fries before you leave if they have brown tell him he need to change degrees or give them back before you pay, blessings on all who go there and especially the Cook are the owner. I've been going there for years. The food is good for a while. The customer service was not that great but it has gotten 100% better.

DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE HAIR IN YOU FOOD !!! This used to be a go to fish joint for me since I was a little girl to be honest ... I never really dealt with many mistakes but today just didn't sit well with me.. I finally get to eat my fish I ordered the lunch special fillet of sole with shrimp and fries ... The first piece of fish I pick up has a long black string of hair cooked into the fish literally in the fry I thought it could have been mine until when I tried to pull it out it broke into the fry fish so it's still sitting in there smh now because I'm so hungry I'm looking in all the fish and try to eat another piece however when I bit in Ofcourse there's bones in my filet of sole smh I call them some one answers and says nothing I call back and get a voice mail that's not set up I will call in the morning but this is completely inconvenient that was money spent and my day was already messed up now I'm going to sleep hungry smh thanks for nothing fish town! So I called this morning they were very insincere to the situation asking if I had the meal still like I'm a let the house or fridge smell like fish if I'm not going to eat it ... seriously then he says ok I'll let the owner know ... smh right they aren't going to do anything about it. I am a vegan so I don't eat they're at Fishtown but I just wish the people were happier or more courteous it just seemed like they have a negative attitude right now I'm like they're doing us a favor

Heard good things about Fish Town but that must be cap because it wasn't. Flavorless seasoning and no tartar sauce. I prefer Collins on Adams.

Love the food at Fish Town. Have been going to this place for over 10 years. One of my friends pointed this place to me and been coming ever since. The fish especially the catfish and orange roughy are excellent. Love the chicken! The prices are great for the amount of food you get in return. I usually hit the place on Friday celebrating it's the weekend.

I ordered the Family Meal 12 pieces of fish, 30 jumbo shrimp with a jar of oysters. Fish Town charged me an extra $6.00 for orange roughy, when the menu doesn't specify an extra charge for certain type of fish. Since my 89 year old father wanted orange roughy, I bit the bullet. The fries weren't cooked thoroughly and they shorted me 8 shrimp. ‍

This place definitely gives you a lot of food, but that's the draw. With so many other great fish restaurants in the hood, why go here? It's in an awful location for those traveling north, as its where Van Ness and Arlington meet. It's so much in the hood, that they have bulletproof glass in the standing room only order area, while you order/pick-up from a z-track door. The food is just okay, but you get massive amounts for the money.
