First Look at Fishbar, Savannah’s Cozy New Seafood Restaurant | Eater Carolinas

"Less than a year after Squirrel’s Pizza closed its 2218 Bull Street location, this cozy, 60-seat seafood restaurant from Southern Cross Hospitality has taken over the space with a confidently succinct menu of small plates and shareable platters centered on fresh seafood and traditional techniques. An open kitchen anchored by a custom-built, wood-fueled Grills by Demant setup—plus a charcoal smoker oven and dry ager—brings live-fire character to plates like hearth-grilled Georgia shrimp with Thai-style coconut curry, makrut lime, and a toasted peanut salad, and Blue Hill Bay Bouchot mussels steamed in white wine, ’nduja butter, lemon, white bean, wilted escarole, and focaccia. Executive chef Charles Alexander Lowney leads the line, while culinary director Daniel Rinehart draws on deep experience and Maine connections to source pristine product; local purveyors such as Bull River-farmed oysters and Brunswick-based Anchored Shrimp Co. are also featured. Drinks span a Spanish-imported Estrella Damm lager, a tight wine list, and signature cocktails by Maren Gudmundsson, including the Instagram-friendly, Tiki-inspired Tritones (white rum, aged rhum agricole, creole shrub, toffee orgeat, Suze, and lime in a fish-shaped glass) and the briny Agua de Gilda with anchovy oil–washed gin, pepperoncini brine, and thyme-infused vermouth. A coastal, transportive design threads through a long, narrow room lit by a rattan sea-creature lamp and a petite bar framed in wooden bobbin moulding, while a new back patio with citrus trees, French Riviera–style umbrellas, and stone hardscaping is slated for al fresco dining and expanded hours in spring 2026. Billed as SCH’s seventh and most ambitious project to date, the seasonally evolving menu anchors dinner service from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday, with Resy reservations and bar walk-ins welcome." - Colleen McNally Arnett

We had reservations at Fishbar to celebrate our wedding anniversary in early January. We arrived early to enjoy a cocktail on the back patio which is absolutely fantastic. After drinks, we were escorted to our table which had a congratulatory card acknowledging our celebration. Our server Mahryah, was very attentive. We had oysters for an appetizer, and shrimp and sea bass entrees for our main meals. Mahryah suggested the potatoes with squid aioli for a side, which we would highly recommend. While we didn’t feel our main dishes were taking long, the manager brought two glasses of Rose to our table as a way to celebrate our day, but also to acknowledge that the sea bass was taking longer than planned. While unnecessary and unexpected, it was a nice touch. Our meal ended with a delicious chocolate tort on the house that we shared. The ambiance, special details, and attentive staff are all reasons we would highly recommend this gem. Reservations recommended, and while we didn’t do it, you can also request chefs seating. Enjoy as we did.

My husband and I visited Savannah for New Year's. We did not have reservations however we were at the door as they opened for a seat at the bar. The service was so friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the snails on a stick, and the trout. We ordered a bottle of wine also. It was fabulous. We would definitely recommend this new restaurant.

Fishbar in Savannah is exactly what you want from a great coastal spot — lively, buzzing, and serving seriously good food. We started with oysters and crudo, both incredibly fresh and clean. The snapper escovitch was the highlight: a whole one-pound fish for two people, more than enough, perfectly crispy with bright, bold flavors. Drink service was a little slow, but the restaurant was fully booked and the energy in the room made it easy to forgive. Everything felt alive and moving, in a good way. Dessert was the chef’s take on Baked Alaska and it was outstanding — honestly better than the classic. Light, rich, and beautifully done. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Savannah. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

Absolutely blown away by this newly opened seafood gem! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the tone—stylish, warm, and inviting with just the right vibe. The service was truly outstanding by clay, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed.she was the sweetest! Now the food—simply phenomenal. Every dish tasted fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. You can tell real care goes into both the ingredients and the execution. From the first bite to the last, it was a flawless experience. We tried variety of stuff oysters, sweet potatoes, roasted cabbage, flounder, ceviche everything was top notch! This place has already set the bar high and is easily on its way to becoming a must-visit spot. Incredible food, impeccable service, and a wonderful atmosphere—can’t wait to come back! 🦞✨

Wow! What a great experience, everything here was a 10/10 no complaints. We came with a party of 6 and pretty much tried the whole menu, all of it was perfect. Definitely try the sweet potatoes, mussels and of course the whole red snapper (best fish I’ve ever had.) The drinks were also fantastic and I can’t even express how amazing the service was. Our server Lily was so incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer every question we had without skipping a beat. She was so confident and charismatic which is so impressive given we went on opening night. GO TO FISHBAR!!!!!!!!! you won’t be disappointed

Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. We got to sit at Chef’s Counter and watch all the food be prepared- witnessing the energy in the kitchen while the chefs worked together was magical! We got the shrimp, mussels, sweet potato, cabbage and the trout. Every dish had such a uniquely delicious flavor. Clay delivered impeccable service, giving excellent recommendations and wine pairings. 10/10 across the board (Bonus points for that sweet potato!)

The food and cocktails were all so thoughtfully curated and delicious. We cannot wait to go back. So stoked that Savannah now has a restaurant like this!

Such an incredible experience! What a privilege it was to dine here. My party of 6 felt so taken care of and engaged the entire time, and were thoroughly impressed by the fine details and thought put into the hospitality culture here. From holding the bathroom door open for me to refilling my water without me even realizing it was low, dining here felt like a luxury experience and is not one I’ll ever forget. Thank you so much for all your hard work Fishbar team!
