Fisher Loft at the Palihotel San Francisco

This place was tucked away on a side-road and is inside a hotel. The décor in the place is it's biggest asset, as it gives off a rugged old-school vintage feel and gives off the ambience of somewhere special. It's a place you want to like, just for that. I ordered the Belgian Waffles, which were neither that tasty or crispy (they were touted as crispy), which were too drenched in syrup. The coffee was just ok. I would've given this place 4 stars, but when I saw the bill, they'd automatically added 20% gratuity, and, left a spot to give more. Not a good thing to do to inspire a return. A one-off experience is enough.

Just got home from the hustle and bustle of Union Square during the height of Christmas week and had to write this review. We were cold, tired, and hungry (actually hangry) and when we stumbled upon this restaurant/bar that just opened last week apparently, it was the oasis I didn't even realize we needed. Very classy feeling, nice and spacious, warm with a very kind and helpful staff, and super accommodating to the group of us (kids included) and made us feel at home. There is just a small menu right now, but the food was very tasty and they made adjustments for the kids. I was so grateful for finding this place at the perfect time, just had to give it some major love online. 😁

This is a new bar in the Palihotel on the second floor. It recently open in February 2020. It is a great space for drinks and snacks. There is a small stage with a piano where they host live music and artistic event such as poetry readings. Great bartenders and amazing cocktails. Highly recommend Eric to serve you! He makes his own creative concoctions and it is delicious!

I think this has been taken over by someone else, turned into a « bar » The bar with the least vibes in the world. The owner seems desperate to have anyone coming in, but only has kind of an arrogant tone towards hotel guests which didn’t made us want to come a single time we’ve stayed at palihotel.

Such a cute bar with really delicious drinks and wonderful bartenders! Would come here any time in Union square area!

What an amazing little bolthole - loved the vibe, the decor & the staff absolutely make this place. Got the recipe for my favourite non-alc cocktail from their bar written on a postcard to take home with me and make in batches for summer parties.

Laid back hotel restaurant/bar with a subdued mid-60's retro feel. Friendly staff, delicious burgers, good cocktails, and a nice quiet atmosphere.

My wife and some friends decided to stop in to Bar Maritime while galavanting around San Fran. We managed to get in the doors as soon as they opened for business. First off, I love a comfortable chair to casually sip tasty cocktails and shoot the breeze. Plenty of seating, both traditional bar and tables in addition to nice plush chairs. Benjamin took care of us and put his mixplogy expertise on display. We were fortunate enough that the bar wasn't busy yet and he spent plenty of time talking cocktails and leading us on our journey! The cocktails on the menu were certainly tasty but if you really want something special, ask for the Gin Fizz. It was my first time trying one and I'll admit it was with some degree of caution as I have given drinks that incorporate egg white a few tries and generally I steer clear. I'm glad I gave it a whirl, as Benjamin bestowed upon us a world class cocktail. 10 out of 10 will return to Bar Maritime any time I'm in San Francisco. To recap; really nice drinks, super comfortable and chill atmosphere and exemplary service. Thank you Benjamin and Bar Maritime.

This is a nice chill evening spot. Delicious oysters, slightly on the pricey side, nice presentation in an oyster boat . Friendly approachable staff who give a strong mariner, vibe, whether or deliberate or accidental. :) Bit of a hidden location upstairs in this bar, giving it a bit of a speakeasy vibe.

Visited on a Saturday around 4pm with a friend, bar seats were full but plenty of open tables available. We greeted the bartender who informed us to pick any spot we liked. Drinks: Shucking me softly - a twist on a martini, this was clean with a subtle sweetness with a bit of minerality, felt balanced, was expecting a little bit more saltiness but enjoyed it overall, the pickled onion added a tangy bite which contrasted nicely with the cocktail Honey Pot Punch: very tasty, light, refreshing and tropical with tiki-esque vibes, with just the right balance of sweetness and acidity, both the lychee and the pineapple came through nicely and gin was the perfect spirit to add a little dimension to the drink Food: Steak tartar toast - delicious, a nice thick slice of rustic bread perfectly toasted, topped with a generous serving of steak tartar, well balanced seasoning with bits of mustard, pepper and a bit of acidity, would definitely order again Service was excellent, with great attention to detail, since we ordered finger food with our drinks we got moist towelettes prior to food arriving, bartender unprompted brought me a fresh chilled glass when I was halfway through martini, water was refilled throughout our visit, truly fantastic service. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Bar Maritime both food and drink were excellent, service was outstanding and price point felt very fair. Definitely planning to revisit to try more of the menu and perhaps do dinner.

Pretty decent bar food, while small - great to compliment the drinks! I personally loved the bread options (steak tartar + bread/butter) and the steak & fries! My fav drink of the night has to be the Tropic like it's Yacht - which is kinda like a Mai Tai! If you like gin & tonics, you'll also like the Long Walk on a Short Pear. It's refreshing with a slight hint of pear! If you catch them at closing, they do a ritual with everyone at the bar. I won't share the secret here though and let you experience it yourself. C: Super friendly and attentive staff, good drinks, good food. Would definitely come back!

Beautiful and well-curated cocktails. The space is warmly decorated with dim lighting, bar seating, couches, and tables. They offer a wide selection of drinks, and the staff gave us an excellent recommendation. We tried the Blue Berrymore. The duck fat complemented the cognac perfectly.

New spot, and I have to admit this is a hidden gem. They have jazz Wednesdays, which have turned out to be a unique SF experience. The last two times that I've been in there. The cocktail game was absolute originating from the mind of a seasoned chef and bartender. Larry really knows his stuff, and outwardly digs his pickled concoctions that garnish beautifully crafted cocktails. Erin from Hendricks Gin was there handing out goodies, got this beautiful fan and had a Hendrix gin watermelon cocktail with a pickled watermelon rind. Otherwise the ambience is great. The hotel is really old. It has strong community vibes, and everybody there seems to partake in a grand communal experience. I haven't had the luxury of having food there yet! Drop in for some music and a cocktail, and let me know how it goes!

lovely little bar in union square inside a hotel. we tried a bunch of drinks & even the oyster shooters which were so potent but a fun time to slurp. I normally don't love plain martinis but the maritime martini was delicious with the sour plum inside. it's a great spot for a date night, pre dinner drinks & looks like they have live music occasionally.

I love a good hotel bar and this is one of them. When you enter the space you feel like you're transported to another time. The bartenders are so knowledgeable and helped me and my friends navigate the drink menu seamlessly. The fries are a great snack to have while sipping a delicious cocktail. They have live music here from time to time so I can't wait to go back and experience that next time.

Food was deliciously unique. The loaded fries! Rock fish crudo is a must. Service-on point, quick and friendly. Great choices in music. Cozy, cute, welcoming place.

Great pleasant surprise. Cozy bar, live jazz, friendly staff with a really fantastic bar manager (shout out to Larry!). We came here with our toddler with mellow expectations looking for an easy early dinner and cocktails, and instead were met with super friendly service, a personable bar manager, fantastic martinis, solid food, and great live music. Prices were reasonable to boot and they don't do BS junk fees - this place is a winner and deserves all the great reviews - it's giving elevated neighborhood watering hole vibes. We'll be back.

Since then, I know this spot has changed quite a few times. A friend and I were in the area and decided to check out the most recent incarnation, Martime. The layout of the venue has pretty much stayed the same. It was a chill Wed night, so we just grabbed two seats at the bar. The bartender was awesome. She was a great conversationalist. We learned a little about how Maritime came to be. We were here for a good 1.5 hours, so ended up doing two rounds. I started off with the manhattan from the menu. Spirit forward, but still nicely balanced. For the 2nd round, I asked her to surprised me with a good follow up. I can't recall what was in it other than the rye, but if memory serves it was similar to a Brooklyn. She actually paired it with chocolate pretzels on the side. I am not a sweet and savory, nor a chocolate person, but this complemented the cocktail. I was pleasantly surprised. I've actually been to four different versions of this venue - Burritt Room, Mystic Room, Fisher Loft, and now Maritime. Gotta say, even with the changing of hands, it's still very consistent in terms of my enjoyment. Plus, parking is easy as the Sutter Stockton garage is right across the street. REVIEW #3650

San Francisco is no stranger to exceptional dining, but this seafood-forward gem manages to rise above even the city's high standards. I started with the Baja kanpachi crudo, a dish that immediately sets the tone for the meal. Silky slices of kanpachi arrive artfully arranged, brightened by the tart, perfume-like acidity of Brokaw passion fruit. Each bite is a clean, electric burst of flavor--one of those rare dishes that feels simultaneously delicate and unforgettable. The black cod with winter squash is a masterclass in texture and temperature. The fish is lacquered to perfection, almost buttery, yielding gently to the fork. The winter squash brings a luxurious softness and subtle sweetness that complements the cod's richness without overpowering it. It's comfort food elevated to something ethereal. But the true standout may be the grilled Spanish octopus with pumpkin seed Romesco. The octopus is impossibly tender with just the right char--proof that someone in the kitchen has absolute command over the grill. Paired with the nutty, smoky depth of the pumpkin seed Romesco, the dish is bold, beautifully balanced, and deeply satisfying. And then there's the martini menu, a delightful surprise. Great, cozy bar in a hotel with a nice bar, solid menu with new takes on classics (their house gin martini is phenomenal), and good food. On Saturday's, they also have a live jazz band on site to help with atmosphere. I've been here and the place has been chill and moody, and other times it's been pretty raucous. A fun spot to start your night before bar hopping in the nabe. They've got a new restaurant behind the curtain on the other side of the bar. I think they're still trying to figure out the flow, but seems promising and I'll def check that out in the future.

One of the best hotel bars in SF. It's on the second floor of the Palihotel right by the Stockton St tunnel. That block is a bit grubby, but worth the trek for this hidden gem. We went on a Saturday night after a show, planning to just get a quick drink. But ended up staying for a while because it was just so frigging nice. Their specialty cocktails are magic - they really show the craft of mixology, with surprising and delicious combinations. We were seated promptly and service was great throughout the evening. There's a long bar, and tables and couches spread throughout the space. The room itself is beautiful, honoring its Edwardian heritage but very contemporary. The space is comfy and elegant, and the laid back vibe works well for everything from shorts-and-tee to an upscale night on the town. Cocktails were so good (Maritime Martini is amazing) we had two rounds, then tried some of the food. Its a robust, seafood-focused bar menu. Really fresh local oysters, and we also shared the steak and fries, which was generous and their fries are amazing. Looking around at what others were ordering, would say that portions overall are generous and prices are reasonable for SF, eg, they had multiple wines by the glass for under $15. Rare these days for a nice bar.

I stopped into Bar Maritime--connected to the Palihotel San Francisco--while staying at the hotel and looking for a late-night dessert and drink. I found exactly what I was hoping for. The vibe was chic, warm, and welcoming--dimly lit with a cool, modern aesthetic and plenty of space to relax at the bar. The service was a standout. I want to give a special shoutout to Hannah, who made me one of the best whiskey sours I've ever had--beautifully balanced and presented. She asked for my whiskey preference, gauged my palate, and made a thoughtful recommendation. I also appreciated that she checked in to see if I'd like an egg white in the drink--traditional in a whiskey sour, but not always within everyone's dietary or drink preferences. That extra layer of attentiveness really stuck with me. Even though I arrived late and the kitchen had closed, I was still able to order a small but tasty flan--the perfect sweet ending to my night. It was also great to see signs of community events around the bar and hear that the restaurant side will be opening soon. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming, putting out great energy all around. All in all, five stars. I can't wait to come back and experience it again once everything is fully up and running. It's clear this place is being built with intention, care, and a commitment to great service.

Saw a sign advertising Martinis and Oysters while staying at the Grand Hyatt so had to check it out. Walked upstairs to a bar and seating area. Enjoyed two Ice Box Classic martinis and a dozen oysters served on a BOAT! Six Ichiban and six St. Simon. Great service and vibes from this unique gem.

The oysters were exceptionally fresh, and the shrimp cocktail had a perfectly balanced horseradish kick. The crudo was light and flavorful, and the flan was rich without being overly sweet. Service was outstanding and super attentive. The ambiance strikes a cool balance between cozy and hip. the music choice was perfect and not too loud, perfect for enjoyment while striking a conversation. cant wait to come back for more drinks and delish bites!

Great food and service. "Mr. Morgan Grilled Rockfish" - amazing, you have to try it! One of my friends eat only raw food. So chef paid attention on it, and made a special salad with fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers market. Special thanks to CHEF!!! Definitely, come back again.

Wow!! What a great, secret little spot. We had the most delicious oyster shooter. It's near Union Square so it was close to all the shopping spots. The staff was phenomenal, shoutout to Andrew and Larry for top notch service! We had three fingers of Oban Scotch for only $8!! Which is crazy! Try the tuna margarita, it's delicious!

What a gem! The service was excellent! The staff was attentive and their genuine warmth made us quickly fall in love with the place. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious and the seafood was incredibly fresh. You have to get the mushrooms!!!! Between the outstanding food, drinks, and the amazing staff, this place is worth a try.

I felt like I was stepping into another time or realm, especially with the amazing jazz/classic live band playing. My Maritime Martini was PERFECT! Who knew that sake, vodka, and plum wine would be a perfect marriage? ALSO I am a slow drinker haha. Our bartender came by and switched our remaining drinks into a colder glass to maintain its deliciousness. I love this attention to detail & service. I can't wait to come back and hopefully there will be live music again!
