Fisherman

"Just 300m from the beach and with a name like Fisherman, it’s no surprise that seafood is the focus of this cosy, candlelit restaurant, which also boasts an attractive terrace if you prefer to dine alfresco. Produce from trout to catfish is used in unfussy, flavoursome dishes – including a knockout paprikash – that are often adorned with sea herbs and hedgerow flowers foraged by the team. It sits within Villa Sentoza, so there’s rooms available if you want to stay the night." - Michelin Inspector

We ate at 2pm - only one other table occupied. We had great service from the young female server with enthusiasm and encyclopedic knowledge of the menu and wine list. We gratefully accepted her recommendations and enjoyed a superb meal with matched wines (not the tasting menu). The quality of the dishes and their presentation on the plate were outstanding. The best meal we have had in Poland.

Short: fine dining, great service, superb quality, very pleasant atmosphere. Long: we went for a dinner, but we wanted something a bit more special. Not, were we for a treat! The card is short but offers a variety of options. There was an option for a tasting menu (no wine pairing was mentioned, but given the wine card there probably is an option for that as well), we decided to go a’la carte instead. The waiters definitely know their work and we were able to discuss in detail what we want, how we want it, and what to go with it. Classy! For starters we have chosen pyzy z kaczką with Mangalitsa dressing and something I knew this place is famous for - Paprykarz. And the magic started - the form of the serving, umami taste, the reach taste across the palate. To say we were satisfied would not be enough. Then we went with mains - kapuśniak (I have not tasted such a form in my life) and catfish. Each of those was great, but hey, it is hard to beat the depth of paprykarz taste. We were able to stop and think when we were offered desserts (see photos). And those as well were quite intriguing. Mizeria-style ice cream with dill… a taste experience I would say. Overall - food was great, staff was very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely come again (and actually was not our first time there - but this time the food really blew our mind :-))

Quite a nice restaurant with decent food. The sevice was very friendly. Nothing really too extraordinary about the food but we enjoyed the meal nevertheless. We had a mosquito in our butter which came with their bread before the meal which was quite a put off for a start. We expected a higher standard I guess. I would say the restaurant is a little overrated but that’s a matter of personal preference.

We had a very nice tasting menu, significantly above the typical experience. Fresh and super delicious combinations of local tastes and mostly fish. I want to rate the wine pairing a 10 out of 10, nicely presented and well explained by the charming service. Definitely recommended to visit.

Great menu with creative dishes made from local ingredients. The best service we have experienced in the area. Knowledgeable and charming waitress. Menu highlights include perfectly cooked rabbit, fish soup, rainbow trout tartar and white asparagus ice cream w/strawberries.

Best food in Gdansk and area. Helpful staff. Street a bit loud if you sit outside. But that's how it is. Once you start eating you forget about the street. :)
