"A bustling, working Seattle port where commercial fishermen prepare for long trips offshore, hold meetings, and service boats—sometimes hosting crews from the TV show Deadliest Catch. It offers a gritty, authentic glimpse into the fishing industry and the day-to-day life behind the seafood served around the city." - Vox Creative

The fisherman's terminal is a nice place to get away from the busy life. There are places to eat near the water. Walking paths around the water that makes one feel tranquil. It's quite beautiful very early in the morning when the sun just begins to rise. When you look out at the water and the boats that are floating at bay you think , "Oh it looks like the boats are floating a top shining jewels."

Google
This is so cool!!!!! I have a friend works down there that's going to tell me when the deadliest catch boats come in. I've always wanted to see those up close. My mom will be so thrilled. This is a really cool place to go. There's beautiful boats and the restaurants. Really good. Chinooks it's a really cool old Seattle area

Google
Fisherman’s Terminal in Seattle is NOT like San Francisco! This is mostly just commercial fishing boat marina, near the train years and the ship canal nestled between Queen Anne hill, Magnolia and Ballard, but I happen to love the maritime industry so I think it’s awesome! There is some retail. A decent restaurant and a very good seafood market. You can sometimes get larger whole fish directly off of the fishing boats on the West Wall. This in an interesting and authentic example of local culture, but don’t expect a mile of retail.

Google
I rode an e-scooter over here to explore this place and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this terminal. There are endless boats here, of all fishing and recreational varieties. What's especially excellent is the quality of the explanatory signs that explain the different types of fishing boats! The signs are extremely educational and well-written. It's also fun to look at the boat names. From here, it's just a walk over to the Ballard Locks.

Google
Such a relaxing area. Walk along the dock. Outside tables and chairs. Work, tourist, and leisure boats. Driving down the road and I spotted the Christine W, one of the few paddle wheel driven vessels in the West Coast. Then I just had to check out the marina. And discovered a nice place to stop along the way.

This is the place we go for fish and chips. Always delicious, except for my grandchild's meal which was way overcooked. He didn't seem to mind, so we didn't complain. I think there may have been a new employee at the register. My husband got the wrong order, but the employee immediately went upstairs to let his boss know what happened. They offered my husband the correct order without additional charges, but he had already eaten most of his meal, so he declined the offer. Usually, I'd give 5 stars for this establishment, but we had a couple of problems so only 4 this time.

Google
Fisherman’s Terminal was a great place to visit. I’m a sucker for boardwalks and boats. I love boats. There were tons of fishing boats of all ages. I got to talk with a few fishermen and their crew about going up to Alaska. The fun they had, the problems they faced, and the memories they made. There were some getting ready to take off for boat trips to tour Seattle. We were not aware you could go on trips from there so we didn’t go, this time. You will find more than just boats at Fisherman’s terminal. You’ll find restaurants, bars, and stores. Enjoy an afternoon there and go for a trip. Talk with some fishermen, and let the little ones get some first hand knowledge of what’s it like to be a captain of a fish Ming vessel.

Google
Stayed here on the boat several times. Always easily accommodated. My experience with the staff has been universally good. Well maintained docks and nice restrooms. A few retail shops and places to eat at the top of the dock.

Yelp
Not sure if this is in the right spot - but could not find the fish ladder on here if my life depended on it! We went here to see the fish ladder and the locks. It was great! Growing up in the Northeast, I used to hang out by the locks a lot. Would love seeing the boats go up and down the river and transition to different heights. We had a great time here looking at the boats, hanging out on the locks, and learning about the fish ladder.

Yelp
There are commercial and private moorage units available for rent here. I've contacted them for pricing, and they've been fair and have communicated well with me. This is also a lovely place to just see the boats and get outside and take a walk. When I've been in the area and need to get out, I've come here for this very reason. There's something magical about boats, the water, the salt in the air. Freaking love Seattle.

Yelp
Always a great place to visit this Salmon Bay highlight just south end of the Ballard bridge. Morning are quiet, tranquil and beautiful. Sleepy boats, splashing waves and occasional seagulls bring the fishing sport to life. Chinooks, the anchor institution is a great sea food choice. Wild Salmon Seafood Market, Bay cafe, Highliner public house++ make this a great destination away from busy Ballard, Belltown or Fremont. Fishermen's memorial is the most frequent stop here.

Yelp
So I will just write this up as a tourist because as far as a review as a fisherman, i haven't a clue. We were on a rampage to see as much as we could in one day and this was on the list. It rained All. Day. It was foggy and overcast and that just made this experience all the more delightful. We parked and walked up and down the docks and checked out all the fishing boats and were in awe of the shear size of them and the functionality. I think the thing that we found to be unbelievable was how very clear the water was at these docks! You could see down 4-5 feet and there was much plant life in them. It looked like young evergreens growing in the water, i have no idea if that is what they really were but we spent a few minutes trying to figure it out. It was told to us that this is where the boats from Deadliest Catch can be found, we have no idea what those boats are but we were still happy to see all the ones docked there and get a feel of the area. It is a great quick visit and then onward to finish the list of the must see things in Seattle.

Yelp
(NOTE: THIS REVIEW PRIMARILY CONCERNS THE MARINA) While primarily designed to serve as a base for Seattle's fishing fleet Port of Seattle's Fisherman's Terminal facility is also a great choice for the pleasure boater THE ROSES: For a 'working' and non-secure facility, FT is a remarkably well-maintained and clean marina. Security, despite the lack of dock gates, is very good. Manager Ray G. is one of Port of Seattle's most energetic boosters of the boating scene, and keeps FT an attractive choice for both commercial and recreational vessels. Very nice selection of restaurants and pubs if you don't want to eat on your boat. Reasonable fees. THE THORNS: Lack of dock gates mean you have to be careful about what you leave out on your boat. Secure readily portable goodies like dinghy motors, kayaks, SUPs, etc. Lack of long-term parking is a problem if you're going to be away for awhile on your boat. THE VERDICT: Well-maintained and run marina conveniently located in fresh water and near the locks make put this facility on the 'short list' of any yachtsman looking for freshwater moorage in Seattle. By all means check it out!

Yelp
After going to the Ballard Locks' visitor center it was suggested that Seattle's Fisherman's Terminal was a place lokkeloos and tourists could go. Since Steve and I still feel like we are tourists in our own town we went ahead and went here! This location is definitely not as touristy as many places in Seattle and in addition to that we went here on a quiet Sunday morning. There isn't anything too dramatic here to see other than the statue which is a memorial to fisherman who lost their lives at sea and many different kinds of boats that are docked that you can stroll by to take a gander at. The building that has the Fisherman's Terminal sign on it is comprised mostly of restaurants. The neighboring buildings have offices to various kinds of companies. So all in all not a huge tourist trap but nice all the same and very quiet!

Yelp
I discovered this place when my mother dragged me down to the boats to find some fresh fish for dinner that night. We were too late to get anything right off the boat, but wandered into Salmon Bay to see what they had. They have a wide variety of fresh local fish and also a variety of shell fish. The crab looks amazing and there is always lots of it. The employees are wonderful and have advice on everything from how to prepare it to what to serve your seafood with. They also sell a wide variety of planks. I agree with Kathleen - you cant beat no parking costs, and NO tourists... and really I've found the prices and quality to be better than the pike place market anyway!

Yelp
Seattle's hidden gem located on Salmon Bay in the Interbay neighborhood east of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and immediately west of the Ballard Bridge. The Terminal is a dock for Seattle Washington's commercial fishing fleet. It serves more than 700 vessels up to 250 feet long. Check out the Fisherman's Memorial memorializing more than 500 local commercial fisherman and women who been lost at sea since the beginning of the 20th century. The Terminal is home to eating establishments: Bay Café, Chinook's at Salmon Bay, Anthony's Little Chinook's, Fisherman's Green Market & Deli, Highliner Public House

Yelp
I've been here several times on sunny Seattle days and am usually happy with just walking around, people watching, admiring the yachts and fishing boats, etc. But if I had to be honest and critical, I'd say this place is kind of unimpressive. PROS: 1. Water. Who doesn't enjoy a short stroll on the docks, hand in hand with a loved one, chit chatting idly? 2. Several restaurants to choose from. CONS: 1. Restaurants are meh. E.g., Chinook's is not that great. Greasy, diner-ish seafood. 2. Parking is packed (don't get why). 3. Not a lot to see. There is a tobacco place, a couple yacht/boat tour agencies, a fresh seafood stand, an art/cards store, etc. An alright place to wander if you've nothing better to do and happen to be in the Magnolia/Fisherman's Terminal area.

Yelp
So much to see and to do. Fresh cool sea smelling air. Boats, fish - fresh for dinner. magnificent interesting views. people drinking in the scene. YOU are part of the scene!

Yelp
skip the Wild Salmon Seafood Market and head to the West Wall to buy fish right off the boat suppoting the local fisherman. It is legal for them to sell right off the boat unlike what others have said. Three stars for the Wild Salmon Seafood Market Five Stars for the West Wall that the Fishermen's Terminal http://www.yelp.com/biz/west-wall-at-fishermens-terminal-seattle#hrid:lX9ekRw5ti1CT_HZg4-T2g/query:west%20wall

Yelp
Although there are many businesses that operate at Fisherman's Terminal they are not Fisherman's Terminal. Fisherman's Terminal is the moorage operated by the Port of Seattle. It is the largest moorage in Seattle and is a commercial moorage with space for recreational boats as available. We have spent several nights at Fisherman's Terminal. The staff is always helpful. They monitor VHF 17 and can assign you a slip as you arrive which is nice. The transient rates are very fair. They have some of the best showers available in the area. Nice laundry facilities too. There is tons of free parking for up t three nights or longer if you ask nicely. They also have a pump out facility. If you don't have a car available it's a short walk across the Ballard Bridge to many shopping options. There is also a public dock at 24th Street in Ballard that is just steps from many restaurants, stores, and bars. Another option is the dock at the 14th Street boat ramp in Ballard, it's just 3 blocks or so from Trader Joes. All in all a great place to stop for a night or two in Seattle (that is if you are on a boat)

Yelp
Put us in an empty section and of course, pretty much neglected us. To start with, totally forgot to bring the scones coffee was warm when we got it, the food was ok ordered a side of buttermilk pancakes and she changed it to make it cheaper for me so I got one pancake never seen that one before. I hate having to say something but I don't like slimy sunny side up eggs. For $50-$60 expected much better I've been coming here for years and don't really blame the kitchen but I won't allow them to get away with saying they were understaffed. I talk to the manager afterwards and he gave us a gift certificate for a free breakfast for two and that I do find made up for everything! Happy and not just because of the coupon but because they offered to take care of it and did something about it.

Yelp
Shhhh....this is one of Seattle's best kept secrets...skip Pike Market...skip any of the other fish markets and come here for the fresh catch.... Not only has the fish just come off the boats, but the guys working behind the counter are eye candy squared!! No hint of any smell...only the salty goodness of the sea and sound. Further the prices are competitive with other purveyors around town and they carry a great selection of rubs and seafood accoutrements...;)
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
This is the place to come if you have a phobia of tourists, hate paying for downtown parking, and want seafood that is fresh and yummy. Salmon Bay has everything Pike Place has from prawns to alligator. You can buy their fish fresh, frozen, or already prepared. The best part about it is that all the fish are cut no more than 20 mins before you buy them and the people who work there are so very helpful that just talking to them is worth the trip. (ps- try the salmon patties for your next cookout and just so you know... they DON'T throw fish!)

Yelp
I stopped by here on. Sat morning when nothing was going on. It's obviously a working fishing depot with some really latge boats docked there & it must be really interesting when the boats have return to port and are unloading their catch. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to see any of that. Apart from the boats, the most interesting thing I saw there was the Fisherman's Memorial with dome personalized items left by the names of several Seattle fishermen so lost their lives at sea. The prices at the the Wild Salmon Seafood Mkt seemed really high compared w/what I'm use to in San Francisco but decided to by some salmon "candy" (sockeye salmon heavily cured with brown sugar). It was great! Aldo, if I hadn't eaten already, I might have given the Bay Cafe, Little Chinook or Chinook's a try. Maybe next time. Except for me, it seemed like mostly locals &/or fisherman there wc was a plus. No fee for parking in the lot was also nice.

Yelp
Been here several times with the family, and I absolutely love coming down here to see all the different ships. There are some restaurants that you can eat out. There is even a fisherman's market to pick up some fish at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend this place to families, or any individual looking to just spend the day outside looking at massive commercial ships. In addition, every once in a while you may even catch one of the Deadliest Catch crab boats there. If you're lucky.

Yelp
Chinook's could be my absolute favorite restaurant at any price. The only downside is that it can be a bit loud (and as an introvert I tend to value quiet). That said, I would never turn down a chance to eat there. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather eat. For what it is worth, I always order the same thing. I would guess that all the food is great but I love the salmon fettuccine so much that I'm afraid to risk trying something else! Any time someone is visiting from out of town, this is a must stop place to eat. Perhaps that does make it my favorite restaurant. Once again, I'd give it 5 stars if not for the noise level. Let's just say it is a very nice place to visit, but I would not want to live there, lol.

Kelly G.

Yelp
Skip the fancy Seattle dinner out and take your guests here to walk along the boats and pick out their dinner. And you can avoid those obnoxious throwing fish guys posing for photos with tourists. Real, genuine fishermen here and real, genuine people. I did this with my parents and they loved it, we picked out some fresh salmon and took it home to cook it up. The fishermen were extremely helpful in describing the different types and the best way to cook them. And it was cheap...can't beat that!

Yelp
I used to work for a company located at Fishermen's Terminal and I still love to visit. The increase in pleasure boats and decrease in working boats is a little sad, but you can support local fishermen by buying seafood at the Wild Salmon Seafood Market and sometimes directly from fishermen right off their boats. You can wander the docks, eat at a few different restaurants and do a little shopping. Don't miss the Fishermen's Memorial Statue that pays tribute to all the local fishermen who have lost their lives. It's touching.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
I've been coming to Fisherman's Terminal since I was a small child, and now I am lucky enough to say I live just up the hill. There is nothing more 'authentic seattle' than strolling up and down the docks to see the fishermen working on their Alaska fishing vessels and then buying fresh seafood at the market that those very same people caught that day. Flying fish at pikes place is Disneyland and Fisherman's Terminal is the real deal.
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
AKA Wild Salmon, this is a very good spot for fresh fish. They don't throw fish here, but if you make friends with the tatooed guys behind the counter they will take care of you and point out the freshest fish in the cooler. Always the freshest salmon for yer grill! And they can box stuff up for you to take on a plane if you have some geographically deprived familiy members, like my Boise bound parents!

Joe Z.

Yelp
We stopped by here in particular to visit the Fishermen's Memorial, and to pay respects to Captain Phil. The statue with the backdrop of hundreds of boats and mountains in the distance was.. amazing. Most of the piers are open, so you can just wander around. It's astonishing how many fishing boats are actually here -- the place is massive. The Sea Star (chase boat on Deadliest Catch) was also here, and apparently offers tours occasionally. Free parking, and some shops that we didn't go into.

Angela K.

Yelp
First time there, we saw a few of the deadliest catch boats. Today, it was pretty slim pickin's regarding boats there. Still was nice.
google avatar

Scott N.

Yelp
It's ok, but we were wanting to get seafood off the boats & there weren't any last weekend. I asked around and was told it's pretty rare for fishermen to sell their catch off the boats anymore. There is a simulated lighthouse here, but it's not open to the public so you can't get an elevated view of the boats. Ok, so looking at boats is ok, but I don't see a need to return.
google avatar

Yelp
Making sure the hard working fishermen are safe for there long voyage out on these rough seas!

Yelp
Free parking and cute little restaurants with a great view. What more could you ask for?

Yelp
A SEATTLE LANDMARK SINCE THE 1020'S and a big part of Northwest culture. Interesting on many levels...shop at AFISHIONADO GALLERY, a popular art and fine craft gallery representing local and regional artists in glass, clay, wood, fiber, metal including unique jewelry designs. Ray Troll's zany art and tee shirts can be found here as well. Eat at Chinook's restaurant or buy fresh fish at Wild Salmon Market. Non touristy, you can watch fisherman tend to their boats and nets as they prepare to head for Alaska to fish for the summer. It is a real community experience.
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
I'll be honest, I was mostly here to stalk Deadliest Catch vessels (I did see one, so yay!). So, basically, a long walk on the pier. It seems like a lot of people had the same idea, there were lots of locals just having a stroll. It's a nice, flat place to enjoy a walk. I'm sure they're used to it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly folks were, even though we were clearly not there to work and we were mostly in the way. Some even smiled and said hi, and that's not usually how it is if you're just being a tourist on most docks. The Seattle Fisherman's Memorial was a beautiful tribute. As the daughter of a former captain and commercial fisherman, I'm glad my dad's name isn't among them, and hearts out to the families of those who are.
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
I live in Magnolia, Seattle and I visit the terminal weekly. Some say you can't buy fish off the boats...this is false. You can buy fish from boats who actually fish and are not processors or transports. For example, during the summer months (and the salmon run) the Loki fish company will sell you the freshest salmon you can get. The fish market in the terminal, thought a little pricey, will sell the freshest fish you can get anywhere in Seattle. (on par with PP fish market and City fish.) I get my haircut at Charlies Barber shop in the terminal, been there since 1947, and is the most quality affordable shop around (half the price as rudy's) The same owners of the terminal fish market also recently bought and renovated the Highliner pub, amazing fish and chips, good local beers on tap and a great happy hour. Because they own the fish market its safe to say their seafood is extra fresh. Oh and there's also Chinooks, a family owned seafood restaurant chain that operates their own fishing fleet. Some may say the terminal doesn't have much to offer, I say they are misinformed and maybe are being a little rushed by their busy tourist schedule. I love this place and I frequent many of the local, small businesses that Fisherman's terminal has to offer. Oh did I mention, FREE PARKING!

Brian Y.

Yelp
This is a great place to visit and check out the boats and be close to the water. It's a very relaxing place to stroll in the evenings and grab a bite if you're in the mood to eat near the water.
