The Best Road Trip Restaurant Stops Along California’s North Coast | Eater SF

"Descending from the electric green, rolling hills of Sonoma’s ranchlands to coastal Highway 1, Fishetarian Fish Market is one of the first seafood spots you’ll see along the Bodega Bay waterfront. But despite sharing a parking lot with the imposing new Rocker Oysterfeller’s, the smaller, more eclectic market-style fish joint should not be missed. A local favorite, the counter-service restaurant serves North Coast classics, including an award-winning clam chowder in a bread bowl, fresh-off-the-boat Dungeness crab (when in season), and fish and chips with three coating options: the “OG” (beer batter plus panko), beer batter alone, and gluten-free beer batter. The grilled oysters also come in a trio of offerings, including “Maui Wowie,” with a sweet chile sauce, in addition to the more typical barbecue and garlic butter. There are kid’s meals, which include crisp (and adorable) fish-shaped cookies, “adult grilled cheese” featuring Valley Ford cheeses, and local rockfish tacos. Fishertarian’s casual, old-school North Coast vibes, with picnic tables on the rocky beach — a gorgeous sunset setting — complete the meal." - Freda Moon

Some of the best clam chowder I've ever had! Perfectly balanced flavors - sometimes I have a hard time finishing chowder because it's too creamy but this was just right! Bonus points for the house made hot sauce that pairs sooo well with the chowder. The sourdough was also incredibly fresh! We ate outside overlooking the bay which was awesome. Highly recommend!

Google
Found this place online and it did not disappoint! The clam chowder sourdough bread bowl was amazing! The fish/ prawn and sweet potato fries were also really good! I would definitely recommend! They also have picnic tables right beside the water- we were lucky enough to see 4 seals! They have 2 options for ordering- kiosk outside or inside at the counter.

We had a lobster roll and calamari with chips. The lobster roll was stuffed full and tasty. The calamari was cooked well, but the breading didn't stick to well. It was good enough to order again. It was 6pm on a Wednesday evening and was busy, but didn't have a long wait for food. No real service, but it was clean. There's seating inside and out. Go past the doors for tables by the water. It was tourist expensive. $80 for the two items and two bottles of tea.

Dem some good eats right there. The Fishertarian Fish Market in Bodega Bay is that seafood picnic you've been craving. Oyster, crabs, shrimp, chowder, fish and chips and more. Whatever your belly might be craving from the sea can be had. Ample side selections, beers in cans, bottles or on tap, ah yes, yes, its chow time. The shop is well lit, and stocked, order at the counter or via screen, either will get earn you ample deliciousness . While you wait, salivate over dessert choices, or check out the merch, there is something for everyone. Oh yeah there is fresh to go, or have prepared available as well. Once you grab your grub, head out to one of the outdoor or indoor tables, make yourself comfortable, and dig in, its belly rubbing time. Food goes down way to easy, you didn't think you'd finish that but you did. Limp away pleased and full. It's fun, its festive, the quintessential coast eatery experience.

Google
This place is tricky to rate. The food is overall solid, with the Lobster Roll being the clear standout—one of the best I’ve had, with buttery bread and generous lobster. The Clam Chowder was tasty but not memorable, and the Fish & Chips didn’t quite live up to the hype. The real challenge here is logistics. Parking is tough—both the lot and nearby streets are packed. Seating is limited (a handful indoors, mostly outdoors), so we ended up ordering to-go, which still took about an hour. The packaging is nice, though the stylish disposable cutlery could use more functionality. On the plus side, their branded merchandise—hoodies, totes, tumblers—looks great, even if browsing is tough with the constant crowd. If you’re patient and manage expectations, it’s worth it for the lobster roll alone.

Recently stopped here for lunch on our way up the coast and was great! We ordered the fish tacos and the crab sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fish tacos were delicious, the battered fish was tasty and so fresh. The crab sandwich was also good, with a generous amount of crab in the sandwich! Atmosphere is nice with patio tables outside situated by the bay. Definitely will make another stop in here next time for some chowder!

Fishetarian Fish Market is a wonderful restaurant in Bodega Bay with great views on the water. The food and service are outstanding amazing! The menu will provide you a wide selection of items and you may have a difficult time deciding just what you was to select. There is an amazing selection of beverages and deserts to compliment your meal. In addition, as you enter the restaurant and wind your way through the lobby and restaurant to order, there's an amazing selection of items you may be interested in purchasing from sweatshirts, wines, and candies to smoked salmon. Fishetarian Fish Market displays a long line of awards they have received for Best Restaurant over a number of years! Well deserved! Do yourself a favor and check out Fishetarian Fish Market; you will not be disappointed! If you find my review helpful; please click the heart ❤️ icon to like the post! Thank you! ❤️

Google
Great location to eat right off the water. Great atmosphere, relaxed, great music, indoor, outdoor seating. Outdoor is patio table seating some covered areas. Food portion and quality was good. Very fresh, beer batter coating had a great crunch, however food was very bland. If the fish was properly seasoned it would be excellent!! Atmosphere was excellent, staff were great. Would return with my own seasoning.

Yelp
When my mother came for a visit we drove on Highway 1 to see the exquisite beauty of the coast. Even though it was cold outside, we stopped by Fishetarian Fish Market for lunch. Sitting outside, with heaters wasn't so bad, especially with the delicious hot food! The fish and chips had a great batter and the house made tartar sauce had a nice tang with lemon juice squeezed over it. The grilled ahi sandwich had great pickled pickles that gave it an extra crunch. The fish tacos were excellent, with fresh pico de gallo and chipotle mayo.

Yelp
Came on a weekend at lunch with a bunch of friends. Plenty of seating and seat yourself style. Nice view of the pier and close to a few other restaurants. Everything got by the group was noted as delicious. Wish I got to try the fish and chips! Perfect as a stop up to Sea Ranch. Will come again!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon before opening, and there was already a small line. The staff was friendly. We ordered a crab sandwich and a veggie sandwich, along with sweet potato and regular fries. The food was just okay. The crab sandwich had a generous amount of crab but lacked flavor, and the bread choice wasn't ideal. This place isn't particularly vegetarian-friendly, which is understandable, but the veggie sandwich wasn't worth ordering. On the plus side, the restaurant has plenty of outdoor heated seating, making it a comfortable spot to dine.

Yelp
Me and my friends felt like the food was flavorless - although they have a nice selection of condiments and hot sauces that were good and it is a near spot with outdoor seating. Fish and chips - I assumed it would be beer battered but it came with panko - you have to ask for beer battered apparently. The fish was soggy on the bottom and barely and the fries were pretty flavorless n not good either Bbq, garlic butter, maui grilled oysters -- they were watery and okay - i was expecting chargrilled oysters like they serve in Nola but they were nothing like that. **. I recommend only getting the garlic butter ones as you can add sauces to it to your liking. Clam chowder - pretty damn bland. Fish tacos - I would skip. Literally flavorless with soggy uncooked tortillas that they seemed to dip in oil but not fry. We also ordered crab cakes but they forgot to give us them and we didn't realize until it was too late. Bummer since they were $24. Lines were also very long but when we went it was super busy. I understand places to eat in bodega bay are limited but I would not return here.

Yelp
This place is amazing, drove out here on a Sunday morning and timed it just right got there when they just open and they were packed already. Limited seating inside and some seating outside in front with tents for covering. On the side by the beach, there are a few tables without covering, we were lucky to get a table right in front of the water with no one else in front of us. Pro tip, when you get there grub a table 1st, then go inside order what you like and pay, they give you a buzzer, when food ready they buzz you to pick up. Fried Combo with 2 Piece Fish & 3 Prawns with fries, the fish is one of the freshest we ever had, the prawns were a good side and fresh. Both fried perfectly!!! Only think I didn't like was the panco crust, but that was my mistake, didn't see an option for beer battered. Clam Chowder Bread Bowl was good, but I had better. 2 Rock Fish Tacos with Gluten-Free Organic Tortillas, Chipotle Mayo Aioli, Pico de Gallo, Cilantro, Green Onions & Avocado. My daughter said is was very good and tasty!! 6 Fresh Oysters, well what can I say, very fresh!!! 12 Grilled Garlic Butter Oyster, yummy yummy yummy!!!!

Yelp
We started New Year's Day in the Bay, Bodega Bay that is. Eating some good ole fresh seafood with beautiful views of the bay was the goal. We arrived at Fishetarian Fish Market for a Wednesday lunch. To my surprise, it was super packed with a lot of cars parked on both sides of the road. Luckily I was able to find a parking spot pretty quickly. Unfortunately it was drizzling a little bit and most of the tables under the tents and the indoor tables were occupied. We eventually were able to share a picnic table under the tent. We ordered the fish and chips, clam chowder, adult grilled cheese sandwich with coleslaw, wine, and a beer flight on a fish shaped wooden plank. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The beer flight was refreshing. The staff was friendly and quick to accommodate. Overall despite the weather and big crowd, we enjoyed our experience at the Fishetarian Fish Market. Hopefully next time we're back the weather will be sunny and warmer.

Yelp
Very popular fish market serving local seafood. Casual spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Come early to get a spot as weekend parking is a bit hard to find. Delicious bites that are reasonable price. Local factories include clam chowder, sandwiches and seafood.

Yelp
So sad for it to end like this, the service there was terrible, was told to stand in line and ended up getting cut by another line of people. Brought my friend from the UK and by 11 he's clearing his stomach. Had to stop four times from Bodega to Santa rosa. This is a disgrace.

Yelp
On a recent camping trip in Bodega Bay, I stopped by the Fishetarian Market and it's was a nice visit. I was hankering for Clam Chowder and I was pleased to taste theirs. It was very flavorful, amply creamy, plenty of clams and just the right amount of potato chunks. It had a very balanced flavor. Their total menu was plenty and sure to please a small posse should you go with a group. The market has plenty of gift items, sodas, lots of to-go food and chotskies to convince you to gladly part with your money. There's a small dining area and the outdoor patio is pleasant. This place is worth a stop should you want to dine-in or if you need items for a little picnic.

Yelp
This has been on my list for a bit now. Convinced my picky family to go. Well only one of the six of us is picky. Lol. She ordered the kids grilled cheese. Our party split up- half ordered at kiosk the rest of us inside. Service was quick, efficient and staff is very nice. No table service. We had two orders of crab cakes, 2orders of fish n chips and 1 kids grilled cheese. Those crab cakes left me dreaming of them. Huge pieces of crab in the cake. Perfection. Sweet potato fries were also a hit, but according to the 8 yr old the regular fries were the best he'd ever had. Fish was huge and flaky. So flavorful. But the best part is just sitting on the water with an amazing view. Will for sure be back!

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place but was so disappointed. Everything but the chowder and (surprisingly) the kale slaw was pretty flavorless. The calamari was perfectly fried but I couldn't taste anything. I reheated my leftovers when I got home and added salt and it was so much better but still don't think I would get it again. Same for the fish sandwich. The fish and chips weirdly didn't have much flavor either. My bf isn't a huge fan of fish and described them as "inoffensive " since you couldn't even taste the fish. I agree. Clam chowder was warm and delicious- not too heavy. The slaw was excellent. Flavorful and fresh. Sandwich- once again I couldn't taste the fish even though there were 2 large pieces. Best part of it was the excellent bread. Overall- beautiful location. I'm willing to go back and give the fish tacos a try since I might've just ordered the wrong thing

Yelp
We finally stopped and tried this place! Let me tell you, it's been years that I have wanted to try it. But we always stopped somewhere else. Oddly enough, we found a parking spot super easy on a Sunday at noon. Went up to the kiosks and ordered our food. Then found a table in the back area with water access. Our food was prepared rather quickly and we dug in. I really enjoyed how the fish was almost made like a chicken schnitzel. It felt lighter and fresh. We also really enjoyed the array of sauces available. The seaweed salad was also delicious and did not disappoint. My only bone to pick is that I didn't know you could order inside from a live person. I really wanted to order chowder and was unsure of the contents (whether it had bacon or not) and this information was not on their paper menu or kiosk. There also offer compost, trash and recycling. Personally appreciated this touch and wanted to give an extra shout out.

Yelp
This is hands down the best crab sandwiches and crab cakes we have ever had and we come from SF and Hawaii. We tried 3 places in Bodega Bay and this was by far the best. Worth every penny.
google avatar

Jade R.

Yelp
I don't quite understand the hype here. It was OK. They do have a solid line system that makes the crowds a bit more tolerable and ample outdoor seating. The food itself is less than exciting. We got the chowder, fish and chips and fish tacos. Nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
Just had the most single amazing lunch experience when in town. This was recommended after we concluded our zip-line experience. The food and service were amazing. Wife went with the prawn tacos and I had the fish basket with shrimp. The food was served hot and fresh. If I lived closer this would be one of my go to places. The server offered us a sample of the chowder. When we come back we will add that to our list of amazing too. The chowder in the sourdough bowl may be reason to come back and visit soon.

Yelp
My partner is a vegetarian, and so when we were staying in Bodega Bay we made it a priority to find a restaurant that served vegetarian items on their menu. Given the backstory of this restaurant, we thought that chances were good that the vegetarian options would be tasty so we thought we would give it a try. I had the panko crusted fish and chips and my partner had the tofu tacos. The fish and chips were fried a little bit too long, and somehow the panko crust came out chewy and tough. The french fries that came with the dish on the other hand were a little bit soggy and under seasoned. This was pretty disappointing as I had been looking forward to getting some good seafood in the area. My partner's tofu tacos were okay. They tasted a little under seasoned but I suppose that you could always add more tartar sauce or hot sauce to kick things up a bit. In an area that's more known for its seafood, having dedicated vegetarian items on the menu was appreciated. I think that overall, there are probably better seafood options in the area, but if you have a vegetarian in your party while visiting Bodega Bay this would be an option.

Yelp
Beautiful view and good place to eat fish and feel like a tourist! Some of the employees are kind of snippy and salty. I like the merchandise more than the fish and love the name!!
google avatar

Q B.

Yelp
May be the best panko crusted fish I've had in my life. Their food was amazingly flavored , and exceeded my expectations , as fish & chips spots are hit or miss . The restaurant sits right on the bay, and the views are amazing !!!! The chowder was so flavorful , and made with super fresh ingredients !!! A must visit for those in the SF BAY area

Yelp
Been coming here since COVID and we still love it! So thankful the quality is still amazing with the most lovely staff. We also enjoy the outdoor seating to be pup friendly. Our go-tos are: crab sando, fish & shrimp basket, clam chowder, but really anything you have here is guaranteed to be fresh and simply scrumptious!
google avatar

Jaime T.

Yelp
Parking: Easy, free lot (though it can get packed). I ordered the clam chowder (pint), crab sandwich, and fish and chips. Honestly, it tasted great after a cold day of fishing, but the seasoning and flavors didn't quite hit the spot. The clam chowder had large chunks of clam, but they were sparse--about one clam every five spoonfuls. Otherwise, it was creamy and well-salted, with chunks of potatoes and chopped veggies. The crab sandwich was a letdown. It claimed to have real crab meat, and there was plenty of it, but it was lightly mayo'd and just slapped onto a sandwich with green onions. I'd pass on this one. The fish and chips were pretty standard--exactly what you'd expect: battered fish filets, deep-fried, with cocktail and tartar sauce. I liked that the fish didn't fall apart after one bite. Overall, I'd come back for a small bowl of soup and to sit outside with my dogs.
google avatar

Vic F.

Yelp
Order in the market or kiosk. Find a seating area to suit your tastes and wait yummy. They small indoor, larger outdoor, picnic tables adjacent to indoor, heated tent, outdoor with view of grill and literally bayshore. Oysters were super fresh and the panko fish n chips were done right, where the fish is the star, not that over battered stuff in the UK. Plenty of beers on tap and extensive selection of beverages in the fridge. Can be busy lunch and early afternoon, much more casual late afternoon.

Yelp
I'll admit, we originally tried to go to Spud Point, but the line was so long it stretched into the street. We even attempted the spot next door to Spud Point, but the line wasn't moving quickly. Starving after an afternoon hike, we just needed something quick--enter Fishetarian! We arrived on a Saturday around 2 pm and were relieved to find only three people ahead of us. The line moved quickly, which was a blessing for our growling stomachs. We ordered three fish and chips with sweet potato fries (you can also choose slaw or regular fries). The process was easy: order at the counter, grab a buzzer, and wait for your food. They offer outdoor seating in the front and on both sides, but since it was a chillier day, we opted to sit inside. The fish and chips were the highlight--absolutely fresh, steaming hot, with a perfectly crunchy breaded coating. Their self-serve sauce station was a bonus, featuring an array of options: OG tartar sauce, Maui spice sauce, cocktail sauce, vinegar, two kinds of hot sauce, and their signature Fishetarian hot sauce, which was my favorite. Pro tip: grab a bottle of the Fishetarian hot sauce from their store before you leave--it's delicious! Parking is free, but the lot is shared with another restaurant, and it was packed during our visit. Despite the crowd, the staff stayed on top of things, regularly cleaning and wiping down tables, which we appreciated. We also grabbed a $4 blackberry drink to wash everything down. We finished with a $3 cookie that, honestly, wasn't anything to write home about. In the end, we were happy to have landed here. It hit the spot, the food was fresh, and the service was solid. Ambience was pretty lively on the weekend, but not too loud. If you're in Bodega Bay and want a great alternative to Spud Point without the endless lines, Fishetarian is a fantastic choice!

Yelp
Super fun and cute stop with good service as you drive on the 1. The food was great! Fresh oysters- may have been the best I've had at this point in my life. We tried 2 bbq oysters, 2 garlic and 2 Maui wowie they were all delicious. The "prawn" tacos were more just like shrimp tacos and were good. Clam chowder in a bowl was good- but way more bowl than chowder. Chocolate chip cookie is a must try.

Yelp
I always wanted to try Fishetarian and I'm so glad I drove all that distance to experience some amazing seafood. There's plenty of parking in their lot. I love their outside seatings to eat oysters and the view of enjoying the waters a couple feet away. We came here pretty early just about time they would open so it wasn't that busy. We ordered a whole bunch of foods as the BBQ oysters, garlic oyster oysters and other dishes. The various of oysters were all so yummy and delicious. My personal favorite was the garlic oysters and the raw ones. All so fresh and tasty! The Fish and Chips were panko breaded and was pretty spot on, me personally I would prefer battered, but none the less the Fish and Chips were wonderful! The calamari were fried lightly, not greasy at all and pairs well with their tartar sauce. Quite honestly I feel like everything here is a hit and you can't really miss at all. It's all fresh and tasty seafood with some amazing vibes to enjoy with the company you're around and just immaculate vibes here. Next time I'm in the area, it's a must I stop by!

Yelp
When a place is able to maintain consistently high stars while having over 1.5K reviews, you know they must be doing it right! During our visit to Bodega Bay, there was two main spots that were highly recommended by everyone to try. We ultimately chose the Fishetarian not only due to the high reviews, but also the plentiful seating options both indoor and out. We ordered some Shane Fish Tacos, along with some Fish and Chips. All of the food was piping hot, fresh, and very delicious! They were running a promotion when we visited, and we also scored a free small clam chowder for voting for Fishetarian in a local contest online. Condiments and utensils are available for you to grab yourself across from the counter inside. Ordering can be doing either via two kiosks outside, or inside at the counter. And food is picked up at the counter inside. Service here is very efficient and extremely friendly. And free parking is available both in their private lot, as well as along the side of the road where we ultimately parked due to how popular this place is.

Yelp
Flew to the bay area for a couple of days, when looking to get away from the hussle and bustle of the city we saw Bodega Bay, and came across Fishetarian, and Im so glad we did!!! The vibe is super cute, like small beach town, super calm and just relaxing. We ordered the BBQ oysters and let me tell you, I usually am not a fan of oysters, my husband convinced me to give it a try and I was happy I did, I would go back just to eat the oysters!!! We also ordered the panko fish and shrimp and it was delicious as well! We paired it with a couple of craft beers and it was the perfect lunch by the bay! After we ate out meal, we went back inside and shopped for some Fishetarian merchandise!!! They have many choices, from t shirts, hoodies, hats, beanies, etc... I cannot wait to be back!

Yelp
Nice place to stop in and eat while exploring the Sonoma coastline. There's usually a line and wait, the food tastes fresh and seems consistent. Picnic tables outside for a very casual atmosphere.
google avatar

Jan F.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of fried fish, but their fish and chips (we didn't get the chips) was the best fried fish I've ever had. The shrimp tacos were loaded with shrimp but lacked in flavor. The oysters were fresh, but the majority of them had bits of shell in them and 3 were still attached to the shell. If you're in Bodega Bay give this place a try.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
We visited the Fishetarian during our coastal road trip from Sonoma back to SF. It provided lovely views of the water, and an option for BYOB with a corkage fee on their patio. The lines were pretty long to order food right in the middle of the day, but service was fast and the fish was incredibly fresh. We definitely ordered too much food for the two of us, and we recommend an empty belly as the oysters and chowder are very rich. Parking is ample in their shared lot, although it's still probably best to come during off hours to avoid lines!
google avatar

Casey K.

Yelp
Fishetarian is one of the first restaurants when you get into Bodega Bay. On the weekends there is often a line and a bit of a wait. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and my friend and I both ordered separately from the kiosk. We ordered the same thing and I got my food a couple minutes after placing my order. After waiting for about 20 minutes, she went to check on her food and the staff said it's coming out soon. She checked in again a few minutes later and the order seemed to have been lost. She got her order a couple of minutes later. We had both ordered the crab sandwich with fries. My sandwich had now sat for about 30 minutes while I waited so it was not very fresh anymore and was just ok.  If visiting this spot, I'd recommend visiting at a non peak time during the week or later in the afternoon when they are not as busy.  The menu ranges from fried seafood to chowder to tacos, sandwiches and oysters.  They do have some seating at picnic tables along the bay, which is a nice spot to enjoy your food.

Yelp
We came back and definitely had a better experience. What we didn't realize the first time is that the sauces really bring the food to life. The chipotle mayo with sweet potato fries was a perfect combo. And the sweet potato fries were cooked to golden perfection. The tartar sauce was so good on the rockfish sandwich, and also with the fish n chips. Yummm. Thank you to Axel who gave thoughtful service and helped us have a better experience this time around. I would recommend coming here as soon as they open to avoid busy-ness and more attentive service. Thank you, Dana for a respectful bummer-free policy. We appreciate your commitment to quality customer service and serving food that you stand by.

Yelp
This has become a "must stop" every time we come through bodega bay. We've never had a bad meal here and especially love coming on a beautiful day to enjoy the picnic benches out back on the water.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING! I am not typically a seafood person but have liked a good clam chowder for most of my life. Was out in Bodega and decided to finally go grab some food and that was the best decision ever! We ordered oysters, clam chowder bread bowls and crab cakes. I tried a crab cake and O.M.G. The best crab I have ever tasted and I have lived in San Francisco. I kept waiting, bite after bite for a tangy or slight fishy taste - that never came!! Super fresh sea food. The chowder tasted very good and is on the thinner side, more of a thick soup consistency but I love it! Ordered hot cocoa and cheesecake for desert to go and both hit the spot. For as small as the parking lot and restaurant are, the views sitting outside are amazing. Very chill atmosphere and the music was great!
google avatar

Lea S.

Yelp
My husband and I have been here a few times and thoroughly enjoy it each time. It's perfect for your typical seafood fix, with offerings like fish and chips, clam chowder, and this area's classic, bbq oysters. The location cannot be beat right off the 1 on the water, and they have TONS of outdoor seating, and some limited indoor seating, as well as a protected outdoor tented area with heat lamps for that indoor/outdoor vibe. You can order at the counter or they have computers outside where you can order which is very convenient. Everything is good, and fresh. I will say if you get the BBQ oysters however I would only recommend the garlic and butter, I've now tried their BBQ sauce flavor and Maui Wowie sauce and I think they both took over too much from the flavor of the oyster themselves. I also wished the oysters were grilled a little more to get the bbq flavor. My husband and I love their fried combos like their shrimp, calamari or fish. I also recently tried their crab cakes which I highly recommend. With these plates you can get their fries with the protein or their very delicious kale and cabbage salad! Finally another thing that I think puts this place over the edge is their sauce bar, where you can help yourself to as much tarter or cocktail sauce as you'd like, or their special sauces like chipotle mayo and Maui wowie sauce!
google avatar

Yelp
Right of Hwy 1! Lots of seating both inside and outside and plenty of parking. This spot can get busy on weekends but despite the busyness the staff is friendly and efficient. We didn't wait more than 15 min for our tables food despite them being packed! The clam chowder in a bread bowl was perfect on a cold day. I'm a dips gal and loved the various dip options for my fried shrimp. A must stop spot in Bodega!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the brand and the packaging!! Super cute! The food was also delicious, can't go wrong with fried fresh seafood!! I loved that the Togo sauces had lil cups too!

Yelp
We came to Bodega on a day trip. I had the vegetarian sandwich on a gluten free ciabatta bread & it was delicious. Husband & daughter really liked the fish & chips. Rob who works there gave my dog a treat so they're best friends now. Plenty of outside seating

What I ordered: -Fish and Chips [5/5] -Crab Sandwich [4/5] -Clam Chowder Bread Bowl [4/5] -Poke [5/5] -Ceviche [4/5] _ I took a day trip to Bodega Bay and decided to try Fishitarian after hearing rave reviews. Nestled along the waterfront, the restaurant offers stunning views reminiscent of Monterey, CA. Ordering was a breeze through the kiosk, and then you wait for your order to be called. We sampled a variety of dishes to share, and everything was absolutely delicious! The standout for me was the fish and chips, as well as the poke. Each dish exceeded our expectations with no complaints. I also loved the laid-back vibe of the restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Yelp
The best fish tacos I've ever had! We stopped by twice while we were in town because the tacos were just that good. We ordered the fish tacos, calamari, and fish and chips. The fish in the fish tacos were fried to perfection and had a nice balance of shredded lettuce and sauce. It comes with a side of pico de gallo and avocado. Every bite was delicious. I highly recommend this casual spot if you're looking for a great meal in Bodega Bay.

Yelp
Good wine, crispy fries, and a nice place to sit. However, I don't recommend the tofu taco; it wasn't enjoyable. I barely ate it and mostly craved the potatoes and the excellent wine. My husband enjoyed his oysters, but a few hours later, he felt sick for the first time after eating them. All in all, we might give them a second chance someday because there were nice people and comfy table next to the window. Or we might just explore other places if we're around. It's hard to say, but my opinion for now is 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Decided to take the kids to the beach so we stopped for lunch. They loved the grilled cheese and thought they wouldn't be interested in my clam chowder or fish and chips; I was wrong! I had to order more because it was so good! The breading on the fish was lovely! And we all loved the chowder. Definitely will come back every time we head to Bodega

Yelp
First time coming to this restaurant. Didn't disappoint. We ordered fish and chips and a bowl clam chowder with bread yum.. first of all the fish was not frozen or at least it didn't taste rubbery it had as thick consistency. They even had sauce bar with tartar, cocktail, Maui spice (so delicious), ketchup, mayo with chipotle. (So many choices, had to try all of them.. The clam chowder was delicious, rich and fresh NOT FROM A CAN). They were quick to prepare our food, fresh and delicious. Self serve in getting own water, utensils which was great. This restaurant is quint, offer everything such as scented candles, souvenirs, the bathroom was full and clean. We'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Im a fan! Always a line especially during any weekend and holiday weekend but not bad. 3 visits in one week and it was good each time. We brought different ppl here each time. Fishetarian OG, kennebec fries (so so good), fish tacos, oysters, chowder, fried fish sandwich, crab cakes, we liked them all. I will say some salt on the fish would take everything to the next level. Fish and chips though they cook in big batches (due to how busy they are) has been flaky and moist. Chowder was very flavorful and good amount of clam. Tartar sauce is also good, garlicky maybe? Enjoyed it a lot with their Maui Wowie. Poke often runs out but fresh and nice sauce, little kick. Not sure about the celery! But good amount of fish. Staff are nice and patient even though it's very busy. Oysters are super fresh. Raw oysters are served with plenty of pebble ice keeping them crisp and cool with a great bright mignonette. Some other places do not serve it on as much ice and had a lot more shell bits. We've also shared benches with some great folks, with good music outside and a killer view. Fun shop inside. Would be nice if you could buy items in the shop and seafood in the case without waiting in that line tho! Kiosk is slow due to people trying to figure it out.

Yelp
This place is just all around great! It's cozy to eat in the little cove that they have inside. There's a gift shop too to get some classic bodega bay gifts. Oysters are always a must but they didn't use hog island oysters so it could have been better. The fish and chips were nice and flakey. The real fun part about this place is that they have a bunch of custom sauces with little to go containers. The cashier was definitely helpful in figuring out what to get and pick up service was friendly and chattable when there was some down time. Easy to get to and there were quite a bit of people on a summer weekday! Lots of tourism.

Yelp
The only possible thing for fish lovers that could improve a review for this place is if heaven gave you the food for free! There absolute best!

Yelp
Our good friends come to Bodega often and this is one of their go-to spots, so I was happy to get a chance to come here. No frills, very small indoor eating area, bigger outdoor covered heated area. THE WAIT None on a rainy Sunday in December around 11:15am. THE COST $30.30 total for my fish tacos + crab soup. THE FOOD * Shane's Fish tacos ($15.99, avocados free) - 4 stars Great toppings, sauce, super fresh fish with lovely texture. I love the compostable taco holder too! * Crab & Corn soup ($6.99 for 8oz) - 3.5 stars Thick, good texture. This had an interesting curry flavor. My friend had come here 3 days earlier and the crab/corn soup was completely different, but she loved both!

Yelp
If you're in Bodega Bay and are looking for fantastic BBQ oysters, clam chowder, or fried calamari, STOP here! While parking maybe a challenge as they are constantly busy, it's worth it. Their ordering processes are very accommodating. You can order in person, through an onsite kiosk, or online. Unless you are buying items at the store, I recommend you order online or through the kiosk to save you the hassle. The wait is LONG for BBQ oysters so be patient. Make sure to try the sauces they provide. The folks working here are very friendly and they bus tables constantly. Seating is first come first served and be prepared to share a table. They have "bay/waterside seating" tucked to the right of the front entrance. Just past the outdoor bar. There is indoor seating but it's mainly for couples (parties of two). Bonus:Try the tiramisu! It's fantastic on a warm day as they serve it nice and cool. They are also very environmentally friendly. Everything they use is recyclable or compostable!

Yelp
My fiance and I visited Bodega Bay for the weekend so we could try this place. It was super busy, so we ordered take out. We ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl, oysters, and fish tacos. The oysters tasted pretty good, but there were a ton of broken shells in the oyster. We were constantly spitting out little pieces of shell. I love oysters and have never had this happen. The fish tacos were bland, soggy, and underwhelming. We were in disbelief that they were so flavorless because they looked so good. My fiance said he makes better fish tacos and I agreed. The clam chowder was the only good item we ordered. The flavor was good, but with Spud Point close by, you're better off going there. I would love to say that maybe visiting in person would've made our visit better, but we were literally staying 3 minutes away and we ate the food right after we arrived back at our hotel. Overall, our visit was super disappointing.
