Baltimore’s 38 Essential Restaurants

"Tucked between a plethora of dining stall options at Mount Vernon Marketplace, the Turkish fish sandwich stop embraces Baltimore’s love for seafood, with grilled or fried selections on bread, or over rice or salad. The “Real MVP,” a nod to diehard regulars known by name, piles cornmeal-fried hake, melted cheddar, lettuce, tomato, lemon-dill mayo and hot sauce on a brioche bun. Sides include mac ‘n’ cheese or French fries. Online ordering or dining in the market are both options. The College Park original closed in 2019, and this is the only one left." - Jess Mayhugh, J.B. Turkish Fish Sandwich Restaurant Fishnet Closes in College Park, Md. - Eater DC

"Fishnet, a seafood restaurant near the University of Maryland, closed this week after eight years of business. The restaurant was known for its Turkish fish sandwiches and had a sister location in Baltimore that remains open. The restaurant's sales never recovered from a dip following the federal government shutdown. Founded by Keyia Yalcin and chef Ferhat Yalcin, Fishnet specialized in balik ekmek and other fish sandwiches." - Gabe Hiatt

Ordered the fish and chips from the food truck for lunch. Everything was cooked fresh and was hot & crispy when I got it. The portions were good, four decent sized chunks of fish (finished) and plenty of fries (couldn't finish). Both the fish and fries were *almost* over-seasoned. The fish was good, but nothing special. A little too much oil taste, but hey it's fried fish. Fries were fries, crispy and tasty. Next time I would like to try something else. The staff was very nice, no regrets on tipping.

I paid $20 for a salmon bowl from the Fishnet food truck. When they gave me the container. I was surprised to see three tiny pieces of salmon. They were beautifully browned, but they were teeny weeny and had absolutely no seasoning. There was a bunch of rice and lettuce, spinach, corn and peppers and a tiny container of tasteless dressing. It looked OK, but I still had high expectations. I was sadly disappointed. I will not be trying anything else from this food truck. I gave three stars for service because I liked being able to order from the little screen, but no real interaction from the staff. The atmosphere was nice because we are in downtown Baltimore with perfect weather. That wasn’t their doing.

Bad experience! Baltimore festival Saturday at Inner Harbor. After arriving [3 of us] and sitting briefly we went to get food at a recommended food truck, a Beautiful Blue Truck with digital screen ordering . Well after ordering and waiting 28 minutes, I was very disappointed! The Hake fish wasn't seasoned or crispy. It had a thick tempura type batter that was hard to eat and did not compliment the delicate fish. While waiting another patron returned her catfish taco because "it tasted off", She got her order redone before our order. The fries were over cooked and dark. My 2 friends ordered the fish and chips too, and the portions were very different. The first thing she said was" you got more fish than me". Fishnet, I am now the fish that got away. Please make sure you have professional staff a follow HACCP guidelines.

This place is located within the Mount Vernon Market Place! I was passing through Baltimore and had to stop by to cure my fried seafood cravings! I got up to the counter and ordered the Tots N Tentacles as a starter and the Real MVP as my main meal. Then waited about 15 min to pick up my order. While waiting, my friends and I took a seat in the tables within the market place. Service - friendly staff at the counter! - my order was ready quickly! There was only one chef making everyone's order hot and ready to go! Ambiance - went on a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly there weren't too many people eating lunch in the market place. - plenty of seating - good lighting Food! - Tots N Tentacles: this app was full of hot and crispy tater tots and calamari! It was seasoned just right with salt and a squeeze of lemon added some brightness. This order is perfect to share or perfect for a main meal - The Real MVP: this was such a delicious sandwich. The fried steak fish was super hot and crispy and seasoned well! The cheese Mayo and lettuce tied the whole sandwich together - Crab Imperial Dip- tried some of my friend's dip and it truly was heaping with crab! I loved that they went light on the mayo and let the crab shine through. I'd also love to have this in a sandwich. If you are looking for a fried seafood spot tin Baltimore definitely stop by this place!

I purchased food from the Fishnet food truck as they were at my worksite. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was ready pretty quickly. However when I got to my desk and opened the sandwich I was shocked by what I was served. The sandwich was extremely small and barely had any fish. The piece of fish that was there was only partially edible as one side was rubbery. I was greatly disappointed considering the $20 I paid.

Update: ordered the same meal today and it was excellent! My first experience at this place— I was shocked at how small my piece of salmon was, however, it was seasoned and cooked well. The dressing on the salad was super light and lacked flavor. My meal overall was okay.

My fiancé and I were really excited to try their food from their food truck since we are weekly regulars at Peabody Heights Brewery on Wednesday night for trivia. We decided to split a fish sandwich since it looked big as advertised, but we were so disappointed by the fish sandwich. For $16 what we got certainly did not look like the fish sandwich they advertise. The fish barely covered the bun and there was a small sprinkling of shredded cheese on it. I am hoping this was a one-off and not normal for them. FWIW, the fish was very tasty, but we were left hungry.

Place is inside the mt vernon market. Staff is friendly amd they have a ton of options. We ordered the mvp fish sandwich and another apperizer. The food is good and it shows that they prep the food properly. The breading is not too overwhelming yet still crunchy and the fish is nice and soft. However i wish they use more sauces in their sandwiches. You can get more sauce by asking them but if you order a take out then you're stuck. The food will taste a little bland if you put enough sauce.
