OMG, amazing fresh fish! My partner, who doesn't usually prefer fish, enjoyed it so much. The fish soup was okay, but the scallops and tuna were out of this world!

Anatoliy

Google
The fish was very fresh, and the server well-informed about the fish origins, what each dish was, and was able to answer our many questions with ease. The food was served really fast, and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Lots of families with and without kids. A really lovely atmosphere of a local joint.

Google
What a lovely experience. From start to finish this restaurant is just a treat. By no means stuffy just a nice relaxing lunch. If you are lucky enough try this lovely place out. By the way if you look at any of my previous reviews you will notice that I DO NOT give 5 stars easily. Thank you fishy fishy.

Google
Amazing food. We had the potato skins special, tuna and salad

Kresimir Bartulovic

Google
A wonderful fish restaurant in the heart of Kinsale town! Beautiful interior with marine and wooden elements. Excellent freshly prepared and friendly staff! The restaurant alao has Michelin stars. Highly recommended.

Google
We had a great dining experience at this seafood restaurant. The food was delicious – we tried the lobster bisque, Caesar salad, Dover sole, sautéed scallops, and finished with a peach and berry crumble, all of which were well-prepared and flavorful. The restaurant was quite busy, so reservations are definitely a must. Despite the crowd, the service remained friendly and attentive. Overall, I would recommend this spot for a solid seafood meal in a lively atmosphere!

Google
Based on all of the "amazing", "incredible", and "best seafood I have ever eaten" reviews, we were genuinely disappointed. We had reservations and were seated promptly, with the option of inside or outside. We chose outside. Immediately, the waitress wanted to take our drink AND food order. We ordered scallops and salmon, which arrived at our table in under 5 minutes. That was surprising. Was it made to order or simply assembled with pre-made ingredients? Both of our meals were fine - not bad but certainly nothing special. From the time we arrived until the end of our meal was 30 minutes, and that even included cocktails. The restaurant was not crowded so I don't know why the rush. The atmosphere inside was classy. Outside felt more casual. There was a lattice wall outside covered in filthy, plastic ivy. Not what one would expect from a high-end restaurant. So overall, the food was fine, the service was rushed, and I'm sorry that I fell for all of the "fishy" reviews. I could not recommend this restaurant. I was truly disappointed.

Google
Monkfish, scallops and oysters were amaze balls. Highly recommended for a delightful culinary experience. Class

Yelp
Terrible is a good word for the good and service here. Don't come here. They are rude from the host stand to your departure and the food is not even good enough to be marked as mediocre.

Leah B.

Yelp
Fantastic. Incredible. We had the oysters, baked lobster, the crab claws, a side of veggies and the seafood chowder. And the crème brûlée. The atmosphere was casual/upscale with lots of families celebrating Easter and enjoying the holiday. Service was really warm and proficient, it was clear they wanted you to feel wanted. Highly recommend as this is a great dining experience for the price.

Yelp
Fantastic recommendation from Yelp & our tour guide. Best fish n chips we've tasted so far (just came from London) everything we tried was so delicious and fresh! Must haves are the tempura haddock and wok fried crab claws. Enjoy with a pint of Murphy's! Great service & location makes this a 5 star choice.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise. In a small town with a big tourist presence, this restaurant stood out. My girlfriend had 2 apps, chicken salad and cold crab (claws and meat). I had the roasted vegetable plate with hummus and edamame. Clean plates all around. Wine selection by the glass was more than adequate. Delicious local apple ice wine. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was amazing! Another thing that stood out was the age of the staff. Very young, but so very well trained. After working in the food and beverage industry for 45 years, I can say I was impressed by their knowledge and professionalism. When in Kinsale, don't miss Fishy Fishy.

Yelp
We were looking forward to this restaurant as it had good reviews, so we were disappointed when we didn't have the same experience. Our server was lovely but the food was awful. We were in and out in 30 minutes and we did order drinks and eat. I ordered the yellow fin tuna and my mother ordered the fried fish. I order tuna like this often so I know what to expect, but this was inedible and I believe it gave me food poisoning. I only ate a few bites as the texture and smell were off. I cannot prove the food poisoning came from this but it is my best guess. After eating there and interacting with some locals they too have had similar experiences and tell people not to go here (wish we had talked to them first!).

Yelp
On our day trip to Kinsale, we stopped by Fishy Fishy for lunch & I'm so glad we did. I have celiac disease so eating out can be difficult for me as I have to eat gluten free. However, the staff at Fishy Fishy made me feel so good about what to order! They knew immediately what I could or couldn't eat and were happy to make accommodations for a particular meal I wanted. The fries have a chance of cross contamination unfortunately but I didn't even care in this instance! I had the most tasty risotto with scallops. My husband and I finished off with a GF dessert that was basically like a big meringue with strawberries on top. I also had a cider! My non-gf husband enjoyed his fish and chips. We both had a great meal and I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Truly beautiful spot, especially the patio on a sunny day, and the food was dead on! It's clear they really care about quality ingredients.

T. L.

Yelp
Wow. Food was fantastic. Every server was pleasant and helpful. Make sure you get a reservation. But if you just show up remember the sage advice: "Yelling at the gate agent will never get you on the airplane."

Mary Beth R.

Yelp
We had the best lunch here today! Such a fantastic meal! The owner sat and talked with us. It was very enjoyable!!

Jack C.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance, large portions, and great fish. Had the halibut and it was a large portion with great sauce, carrots. The best of the meal was the side of chips. Perfectly cooked, crunchy and golden brown. I had a Moscow mule that was also delicious. If you are looking for a nicer meal this is a great stop in kinsale!

LS C.

Yelp
Lovely place to dine. Two dishes were off the specials and were divine. We loved the wok fried crab fingers. Great sauce. Very intricate. We also loved the sole. Quite nice. The fish soup on the regular menu was disappointing. I love fish soup; especially those with tomatoes base. This was born by. Very little fish. No veggies. Little flavor. The service was friendly but slow. Nice evening.

Kevin S.

Yelp
This is an awesome restaurant, beautifully put together with freshest fish exceptionally prepared.

Dana M.

Yelp
Fantastic Fishy Fishy food! The service was fabulous, although the dining room was a bit loud.

Sheila S.

Yelp
Stopped in your bus in Kinsale and went for lunch at Martin Shanahan's restaurant Such great atmosphere, service, and food

Patty D.

Yelp
Very attentive staff.Fish dishes were excellent.Pricey but worth the cost.Restaurant gets very busy so I recommend making reservations. The decor draws you in.We will hoping be able to return in the future.

Bernie T.

Yelp
Best Whisky Lobster Bisque ever! Must try the most delicious smoked Haddock! Very welcoming and friendly service! Mellow and relaxing vibe with tasteful decor.

Greg C.

Yelp
Place lives up to the hype. Go ahead and make your reservation to make sure you get a seat and enjoy the wonderful service and food.

Christiane M.

Yelp
my first michelin star restaurant experience and it was so good. all of the food was delicious and not a single crumb was left on the plates. you have to get the pornstar martini too i cant urge you enough

Lisa C.

Yelp
Overpriced and underwhelming food. 4 out of 4/in my table were not impressed. Too many other good restaurants to choose from

Roopinder T.

Yelp
Fishy Fishy is the quintessential seafood restaurant. Slightly off the Main Street and, we're sure, a favorite of well-off Cork residents in the off-season. The menu greeted us with surprises (fish you have not heard of-- like red grunard), favorites ( fried haddock and chips) and, if you watched Somebody Feed Phil, something to anticipate (Fishy Fish pie). A made-fresh black, grainy bread (complimentary ) set the tone, drinks were excellent (Blacks gin and tonic and a Negroni) a baked Brie appetizer with tempura crumbs. Everything was beautifully presented, served with patient explanation and a smile and delicious. A little on the pricey side but if you want one meal, the one to remember on your Irish vacation, Fishy Fishy will provide it.

Yelp
I love seafood so it's natural that I gravitated to this restaurant during a few trips to Kinsale. This restaurant was recommended by a coworker and I've gone with a group of friends or as a solo outing. It's pretty tough to get a last minute reservation but if you're okay with a little wait at the bar then they'll find a way to fit you in. This restaurant is pretty popular and they take a lot of pride in their dishes. The presentation is great but nothing compares to the delicious taste of flavor. My favorite go to dish is the crab claws in chilli sauce. If the crab claws isn't available I usually ask for any variation of seafood with the sweet chilli sauce. The sauce is so good that I try to enjoy every bit of it and even add it to my rice. I can't wait for my next experience dining at fishy fishy!

David F.

Yelp
Great experience and, as the name suggests, specialises in fish dishes. My starter fish plate was divine with a selection of fish nibbles, each one of which outclassed the other. To be fair, it was a meal in itself but, selfless as I am, I soldiered on through the remaining courses. My monkfish main was not only huge but cooked to perfection, tender and moist, a combination difficult to achieve in my kitchen ! Being a martyr to chips, I added a portion of French fries to my order and these were devoured and, no, I never share chips. That's a rule! I did, however, share a particularity varied cheese board with my companion and, again, we agreed there was plenty for two in it. A couple of bottles of Ora Castillo rounded off a superb dining experience before we waddled back to our hotel. Fishy Fishy is not cheap but represents a good balance of price and quality. Recommended.

Yelp
There are a ton of good restaurants in Kinsale but I think Fishy Fishy is the best of the lot. Openly, I wondered if this was a bit of a tourist trap given some of the online reviews but boy was I wrong... It starts with the bread. Yes, I know that sounds weird but the brown bread here is some of the best I had in Ireland. Pass the butter, please. We had the Hake and the Monkfish. Both were incredibly fresh with delicate, well-balanced seasonings. We really enjoyed them both but I'll give a few extra points to the Hake. Top notch! We noticed other diners ordering a dessert in a glass and followed their lead by getting the chocolate mousse with hazelnut ice cream. This was somehow both light and decadent. A fantastic way to finish the meal. The servers were all very nice and helpful. Some reviewers complain this place is pricey and I suppose it's a few Euros more than other places in town but I think it's worth it.

D F.

Yelp
This place is horrible. The monkfish scampi was nothing more than glorified fish sticks and fries. The pasta was over creamed, soupy and barely had any shrimp. The service was slow (and slow for European standards). For what we paid, we expected much better food and service. Save your money and go down the street to one of the many other cute places around town.

Zack H.

Yelp
I had their hake special and it was literally one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Highly, highly recommend

Ann S.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had while in Ireland. Atmosphere was great, service was great and owner chef friendly and helpful on where to eat rest of our trip! Highly recommend the fish pie!!!!

Yelp
My friend and I had taken a detour into Kinsale for the afternoon. After popping into one shop and talking to someone who works there we asked where to go get something to eat and they recommended Fishy Fishy. We were given directions and so we walked over and found the venue. The exterior is just adorable. The whole town of Kinsale utilizes these remarkable playful colors on their buildings and Fishy Fishy is no exception. The outside is this pop of bright blue with red shutters. It immediately looked inviting before I even set food inside. Fishy Fishy was a bit of splurge for us as it is definitely a very nice place with crisp white tablecloths and fancy dishes. We thought, what the heck we earned it after the drive we did. I ordered the scallops which were served on top of spinach risotto. I also had a glass of the pinot grigio. The dinner was very good but rich. My friend got a seafood pasta which she enjoyed. Later on in the evening she felt a bit ill and I think that this dish may have been too heavy for her. I attribute this to her maybe eating too much of it then we had a ride back which may have been a bad combination. If you are driving down the winding Irish roads after a rich meal at Fishy Fishy maybe order something on the lighter side! I thought this was a nice place to come and the seafood was certainly fresh and scrumptious. We had good service and the ambiance was nice as well.

Leslie K.

Yelp
Located in a cute little port city in Kinsale Ireland. The fish was amazing no matter how it was prepared. I had the fish n chips. You can't go wrong with warm, flaking, crunchy fish n chips paired with a beautiful seaport view.

John W.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant by the heart of Downtown Kinsale. They offer a nice selection of food and a fancy type of atmosphere. Staff are attentive and kind. Prices are a bit....up there but hey, you are paying for the location too. There is limited parking in their lot so just be wary.

Evan M.

Yelp
Terrible service. I have been looking forward to fishy fishy after seeing it on YouTube. Unfortunately we arrive for our reservation on a Sunday evening at 6 PM and waited 30 minutes once seated and no one bothered to come and even asked us if we wanted water. Must've been a rough night for the wait staff. I watched as others were seated and served while we were ignored. We went down the street to Kitty O'Se's. The wait staff found us a table although the place was packed because of the live music. We had a great meal and great fun at a fraction of the price.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Excellent, outstanding top notch fish restaurant in a quaint fishing town on the Wild Atlantic Way. I feel so lucky that we stumbled upon this spot. Excellent service, sublime food and beautiful decor. I wish every restaurant was this good.

Rob N.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice, but their website photos make the restaurant look more quaint than it really is. Unfortunately our food was just okay. I had the salmon, and it was over cooked. It's sauce was very good, but the piece of fish was no better than what I get at a grocery store. The seafood chowder was too peppery.

Canny F.

Yelp
Came here with a tinder date. We ordered the seafood chowder, smoked salmon mousse and the fishy fish. I asked for the food to come out as it was done. I wasn't too impressed by the dishes. It came with free slices of white and brown bread with butter. The smoked salmon mousse didn't taste smoked and reminded me of tuna from a can. The seafood chowder wasn't thick. I appreciated the chunks of seafood in the soup. The fishy fish entree was creamy and had a layer of bread crumbs on top for a crunchy texture. Not sure why they serve the soup with mash potatoes but it was okay - I prefer my mash potatoes to be chunky. Overall, not a must try restaurant. Service was great and it seemed like a reservations only restaurant but they squeezed us in. We were stuffed only consuming half of our order. What are they putting in the food that makes me so full so quickly?

Kannon E.

Yelp
I was looking forward to this restaurant. It had incredible reviews. We were seated right away, but afterwards it all went downhill. The service was more interested in their bigger parties. The menu gave a guide of different foods and allergies. The seafood soup reports not having any dairy, but when my partner's mom got her dish, it had two large scoops of cream. I got the fish and chips. The waitress did not being vinegar and ketchup and when I asked she rolled her eyes and told me I needed to wait. The table next to mine ordered the fish and chips and received both right away. No one checked in on us. Our glasses were empty half way through the meal. They again had to be flagged down to get the check. If the service was bad for all the tables, I would have been more understanding, but the server was attentive and sweet with others, while being dismissive and rude with us.

Carrie S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and excellent food. Would absolutely come back. The soup was a great change of pace as it had a red base instead of a cream for the seafood.

Wanda C.

Yelp
I saw several recommendations for this restaurant on an Ireland Facebook group so was excited to try Fishy Fishy. We were very let down. Our server wasn't friendly or attentive. Very few gluten free options and none for fish and chips. That limited options greatly for two family members. The roasted vegetables were delicious, but the fried fish a family member ordered was forgotten and we had to ask 2 servers about it. It finally arrived when everyone else was nearly finished eating and then was so extremely salty that it couldn't be eaten. Disappointed...especially at that price point.

David G.

Yelp
Just an absolute gem of a restaurant. I cannot recommend highly enough. The wait staff is superb and the food is out of this world.

Christy A. M.

Yelp
Excellent service. Quite a fancy place. Delicious scallops & fishy fish pie - beautiful presentation. Loved the decor - fun & interesting sculptures & finishes.

Jeff C.

Yelp
Really good. Really fresh. Wish I was more awake and better dressed. We drove from Dingle and stopped here on our way to Kilkenny. It was a gorgeous day and we arrived during the Jazz Fest. It took a while to find parking and luckily we managed to not get a ticket in the hotel lot next door. Food and service was exceptional as expected. Felt like I needed a nap. We should have planned to spend a couple days in Kinsale during our 800 mile loop. This was a nice preview. We'll be back!

Clèm B.

Yelp
The best fish meal I have ever ate ! I ordered the Shane Murphy's fried cod with spinach risotto! Very delicious and perfect ! It's a bit pricy compared to the other restaurants in these area but the price matches the quality ! The staff is really nice, smiling and doing a good job! I totally recommended it !

Michael R.

Yelp
Fishy Fishy is a "must visit" restaurant when in South Cork. The food is absolutely wonderful and the service cannot be beat. We make it a point to head to Kinsale just for a meal at Fishy Fishy every time we're in Ireland.

Jacqui E.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best fish dinners I've ever had. We shared the Mussel appetizer, which was wonderful. I had the Fish Pie and my husband the Hake; which he said was the best fish he has ever had. We sat outside and the service was prompt. For the quality of the food it is well worth the money. My only slight negative is paying for tap water served in a glass bottle.

Ann F.

Yelp
Our appetite was very pleased with what we ate. Everything was fresh, presentation was perfect, seasoning was exceptional and just right. The mussels were sweet and fresh! There were six of us and we each had a different meal and we all were pleased with our choices. The restaurant has many wines to choose from. It is clean and if you are here, it is a good place to stop in.

Rory J.

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner at Fishy Fishy. Our table had both fish specials, the fish and chips and the fish pie and all were excellent. Service was great too. Highly recommend.

Spencer Y.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and service! The food was fantastic- would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solid seafood meal!

Alison M.

Yelp
Our visit was in June of this year with a party of 9. We had a reservation for 13:30p and due to distance traveled to get there, we were late (Crookhaven/Goleen). When we arrived we had to wait a little bit since we were over an half an hour late our table was dismantled to serve people who were there. We were seated in the upper dining room which was spacious and had nice natural lighting. The menu was pricey for a lunch meal, but the reputation of this establishment is well known for it's quality meals. We ordered a variety of items from the menu which included fish and chips, Seared Tuna, and Salmon burger. All meals were fantastic! Presentation, the best. Freshness and tasty, absolutely! Highly recommend to all seafood lovers out there, there is something for everyone. Service was outstanding! We were seated and menus were passed out, specials given, and questions answered with ample time to review the options before ordering. Drinks came quickly as did bread and butter and within 20 minutes all of our food had arrived! Talk about timing! Couldn't get any better then that. The waitress gave us some information about Kinsale and the story behind the restaurant. Plates were cleared, dessert was offered but no one took advantage as we were amply satisfied with our meal. I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about visiting Kinsale. Enjoy!

Chun P.

Yelp
Rick Steves said to eat here, so we did. Turned out to be our MOST expensive meal of our trip, but it was good! We don't normally spent 65euro/$89 on dinner, but hey, we're on vacay! :D This is where you go for your romantic dinner Free fresh bread and hummus in an oyster shell...groovy! 5.25euro 500ml of Stonewell's Cider...good! 5.50euro house wine glass...typical. 7.50euro seafood chowder...delicious! 21.50euro fishy fish pie...delicious, rich, and filling! Came with a side of mash. 24.50euro grilled seabass...delicious, came with a small side salad. Classy, warm, romantic atmosphere with great service. We came in April during the off season, so no wait at all to get a table. If I was rich like Rick Steves, this would easily be a 5 star review.

Jared J.

Yelp
By far one of the best meals my wife and I have had while in Ireland. The attention to detail to the food and wine list feel specifically curated. My wife has the fish and chips, which were tempura battered and incredibly light and had a delicate flavor. I had the special the Billy Lynch's grilled crayfish with sweet chili coriander & ginger butter.

Cyndy K.

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Delicious seafood 3 *stars for service A must if you are in Kinsale. *Nice ambiance *Tasty fish and chips! The best I've had in Ireland thus far. *Delicious seafood chowder. Brown yummy. Divine butter! *Good wine
