A Bunny-Themed Pub Brings Carrot Fries and Cocktails to Clarendon - Eater DC

"A 7,500-square foot space combining working out and eating out is opening in Arlington this July. FitDistrict gym and cafe will serve up hot yoga, cycling, and interval training, plus wheatgrass shots and health-centered versions of classics like shepherd’s pie in the former Ray’s the Steaks spot." - Stephanie Carter

I really wanted like this studio. The staff is friendly, making an effort to learn your name and make conversation with you. The studios are clean and well kept. Most of the machines are in good working order. I tried all 3 studios - interval, yoga, and cycling - and the workouts weren't challenging enough. I'm not a triathlete by any means but I was disappointed by the easy workouts many of the instructors led. I may try them out again once the instructors get more experience but wouldn't purchase a membership as my fitness level would decrease. I didn't try the cafe so I can't comment on the food though I think it's wonderful to have healthy options right in the studio.

I’m so excited to see FitDistrict grow! They’ve got some amazing, very experienced coaches that are heading up their classes. I’d highly recommend starting out your weekend with the 8:15am cycling class!! This is such a great way to start your weekend and the class is so much fun and challenging, not to mention the coach is fire! Will be going back!!

I've been coming since the soft opening in September, and love the place. They've been adaptive and responsive through startup growing pains. The hot yoga is fantastic, and the spin classes fill the much-missed hole of Good Sweat which closed last year. The interval classes are a fun change of pace too - all three studios can condition you in different ways throughout a week. And you can order ahead at the Energy Cafe and have a smoothie waiting for you on the way out to work. The location, across the street from the Courthouse Metro elevator, is unbeatable and super accessible for transit and biking. I can seamlessly walk over from home, take a 6 am yoga class, shower in their top-notch locker rooms, grab a bite to eat, and hop on the Metro to work. Fantastic urban living. :D

Good smoothies, did the cycle class and it was a great workout. I'm not the most in shape person but was able to keep up and all to get a good workout. They had some instructions for like more challenge too though. Had done some HIT classes elsewhere in the past but fell off with it. I felt like I got bored of that workout after awhile, but FitDistrict I could just change it to one of the other classes to mix it up....seems like a good concept! Eating better and consistently working out are two things I really need to do more...so I'm really glad this is close by.

I love FitDistrict and am excited to see it continue to grow. Everyone is so helpful and positive from the moment you walk in the door. Their instructors are extremely knowledgeable and create a welcoming environment. It’s really nice to have a one stop shop of a gym that really has a variety of workouts and class times.

The owner Catherine reached out to me. Very nice lady who took her time during our consultation online. I came in the same day to try a class. The machine and rooms all look brand new, but I didn’t feel the class was as challenging as other gyms. They do help with diet plans which really sets them apart from other places! They don’t have many classes on the weekends which was a big factor to me, but for people who work out early on weekends or weekdays only, I would give this a shot. I have a friend going to check it out today!

FitDistrict started as a very promising space in the Courthouse neighborhood. Sadly, it does not seem like it will be around for much longer, so seriously consider whether to put your money in a gym that could disappear any day now. The cafe was shut down and the gym itself is often closed. I stopped by several times, the doors are locked and the place is dark. I tried calling the number on the website but I get immediately disconnected. I emailed them and got a reply from Catherine Ford, their founder and chief visionary officer, that they are still open. However, I got no replies to the follow-up emails asking for specifics such as opening hours. All of this after a shaky opening where the interval training space was unavailable due to A/C issues. I bought a package of classes that I was unable to use because interval training was unavailable or the place was never closed. Disappointing.

This is a review for the Candlelight Yoga Flow 2 : Heated class I took recently. I've read the other reviews on Google and on ClassPass before arriving and was excited to try using their 3 day free pass. I arrived and filled out some paperwork and proceeded to go the bathroom to change. The bathroom was visibly dirty with trash on the floor and room was extremely cold. Then I entered the yoga room. The room was not heated at all and I saw few others (there were 6 or 7 of us) still had their sweater/shirts on because it was cold. I didn't drop a single sweat during this class. The flow started and for the entire class we did nothing but the most simplest stretches. The instructor did not seem very experienced at all. There was no flow but rather was a combination of random stretch poses that came to her mind last minute. On many occasions, we were holding positions for 1 min while the instructor thought of what to do next. To top all of this, the class was playing pop music like Justin Bieber and Calvin Harris - not sure if this is what Candlelight vibe. The lights were all bright and on and there was no "candlelight" vibe. I left the class after 45mins of waiting for it to "start" to join a session at CorePower down the street instead. I felt lied to and robbed of my time. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing their monthly membership for their yoga classes. For the same price, you would get much more out of joining other big yoga chains than this. They have interval and cycling as well and this review is only for yoga.
