Where to Eat and Drink in Duluth, Minnesota

"This is pub food at its best. Tucked in the lower level of the historic Fitger’s Brewing Complex (which also includes a lovely inn), the brewhouse serves top-notch burgers, including three variations of its legendary wild rice burger. Salads, soups, and entrees are also available — but seriously, go for the Gale Force wild rice burger." - Justine Jones, Alex Lodner

Google
The apricot wheat beer is a must try! Fitger’s is the oldest continuously operating brewery in the state of Minnesota. It’s a top-tier destination when in Duluth. The building is home to shopping, restaurants, and a hotel. Grab a coffee or ice cream and head outside to enjoy the view.

2 adults. 3 kids. Stout, seasonal beers. California burgers. Wild rice burger. Poutine burger. Everyone was happy with their order. Our server was helpful in decision making. Everything tasted amazing. 10/10 recommend

Google
Very pretty and cozy interior with lots of flagstone walls and a view of their brewery. Had one of the best servers we've ever had and an amazing meal, our whole party of 6 ordered burgers and were all impressed. The burger patties were still very warm, fresh off the grill, and the taste reflected the effort put into serving them all at once, they were amazing. They also serve burgers on pretzel buns. PRETZEL BUNS!!!

Google
If you want a great burger, look no further! I had the delicious wild rice burger and the others had regular burgers which were just as yummy! The salad was fresh, Pretzel sticks were good, and pours were healthy. :) highly recommended

Google
A bit tight to squeeze 6 of us into a booth, menu was what you'd expect of pub food, nothing stood out. Our server was awesome making the experience better. The spin dip was a different take, cold not hot, recommend it with their pita. Coleslaw was bland, kinda disappointing.

Google
First time visiting Duluth and was looking for a cool spot and a burger. Fitger's Brewhouse was suggest by a local and advertised as, Minnesota Best Brewpub... and it did not disappoint. So naturally I went with their signature, Brewhouse Burger. 1/2 Pound burger with bacon, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce and a 'bale of onion tanglers"...great burger. Fries weren't bad but they didn't wow me as much as the burger. However the onion tanglers were nice. Overall Fitger's Brewhouse place to hang out, enjoy a meal and conversation. Service was prompt and solid. Definitely will be going back.

Google
Best cheese curds in our life. Delicious food. Great service. Awesome ambiance inside. It is a pretty nifty building to walk around and take in all the history. Learning about the life of that building was a highlight of our trip. Come eat here. Definitely get cheese curds and the root beer!

Google
My wife and I had a great experience at Fitger's! The dining environment was very cool, and the staff was friendly and responsive. The food was delicious, she had the "3 little pigs" which was just absolutely incredible! I had the PBJ burger, which was tasty, but spicier than I was expecting!

Yelp
Came in here with my fiancé on a Sunday for lunch & the place did not disappoint whatsoever. I got a sour beer that was amazing. Love the selection of beers with great names. I got the 3 Little Pigs Sandwich. Was going to get the Poutine Burger but they got me on the * next to this one. The meal did not disappoint whatsoever. The sandwich was piled high with meat & was absolutely delicious. Great interior feeling like you're at a dive bar but not too divey. Very Public market type feel too which is great on a cold day when you don't really want to walk outside. Only down side was that there are no TVs for watching football on Sunday inside this restaurant. The place with TVs was in the bar across the inside area.

Yelp
While visiting Duluth we last minute wanted a place to get a quick bite to eat around 8pm. Many places had long waits, but luckily we were able to get a booth here right away. The place was full, which is always a good sign. Charming place, very nice on a chilly night. It's cozy. I got a chicken quesadilla which hit the spot after a long day, along with a couple beers. The server put on the Timberwolves game for us which was appreciated. I got mozzarella sticks & a couple THC drinks to go. I'll be back! Server was lovely, food was good.

Yelp
I love the location and the hours. Of course, a lot of the food is fried/pub food, though I could have made better choices - it seems like they put a decent burger, if I recall. I went with the 3pc fish & the hubs with the 2 fish tacos. His was admittedly better, though they used the same fish. Now, it's important to note that the beer battered cod is on par with your 60pc frozen bag for $18 @ wholesale stores. This makes $15 seem excessive but, location and all. The pricing wasn't horrible but, again, not great... average. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great & I do wish I'd gone with a different option. Beer was tasty.

Yelp
While staying at Endion Inn in Duluth, I received some free drink tickets for Fitger's Brewhouse or one of the other locations part of the restaurant group. I had a hankering for a great burger, so I visited Fitger's Brewhouse. I got to sit with one of the brewers and had a great conversation over a couple beers. For food, I went with their burger special, the PBJ Burger. I don't remember everything this burger had, but the theme was spicy. It had pepperjack cheese and pepper jam. It was delicious - enough said. For beers, I had two different ones. - Shades On: A Saison that had a nice pepper flavor, and nice dry finish. Floral hops envelope your nostrils as you take sip after sip. - Caramel Delight: Yes, I did it. A Golden Ale brewed to taste just like a Samoa with lots of Toasted Coconut, Cacao Nibs, Tahitian Vanilla, and Caramel. Not too sweet, but definitely reminiscent of the cookie. _____

Yelp
As our final lunch before heading back to the cities, we decided to try this spot for the first time. It was nice and quiet, but busy enough for a Monday. I couldn't pass up on the caramel delight ale once our waitress mentioned it and I'm glad I didn't. It's one of the best ales with caramel notes that I've ever tried! For my meal I ordered a mildly spicy special roasted red bell pepper bisque with a delicious smoked lake trout wrap and addicting dressing for slathering on n dipping. Highly recommend and would go again.

Yelp
We walked over to Fitgers for lunch. The server was very friendly and gave us some food recommendations which we went with. The beers were cold and delicious. It was a cool place to check out.

Yelp
Always get Fitger's when I'm in Duluth. A decent spot to grab a burger and talk. The location is gorgeous and right on the water and is easy to get in and out of. Menu is decent and servers are always attentive. Would give this place a try.

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner, during our high point trip to Eagle Mountain. Right on Lake Superior; although we were there at night in November. Part of a hotel / shopping experience. Typical brew-house experience. We started with bloody mary's; they were good and spicy. They came with an 8oz beer backer; which I haven't experienced with other bloody marys. I had the local wheat beer which was pretty good. We paired these with a plate of poutine, and a plate of nachos. Both were quite large; although neither was all that impressive from a taste perspective. For dinner we split a wild rice burger; we had never heard of this before, but had passed by quite a few 'wild rice lakes' on the way in, and many gas stations/other stores were selling wild rice by the pound. Never knew it was something MN was famous for. The burger was very good; we had it pub style, with swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms and onions. Staff was friendly, and quick. If in Duluth again might take a look at staying in the hotel (we had Maisie our dog with us so hotel options were limited) and stopping back in for a beer. Worth a visit for the wild rice burger for sure!

Yelp
Love this place! Stopped in for a cider and app. It was busy for a Tuesday afternoon. Our server was so wonderful as were our drinks and cheese curds.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Another great spot on my recent trip up to Duluth. We heard many locals suggest this place. The cheese curds were some of the best I've ever had. They are cubed and there is a lot of cheese inside. They weren't greasy either. The burger was a decent sized patty and the thick cut bacon really made the sandwich in my opinion. My friend tried the blue cheese wild rice burger and loved it. The restaurant itself is inside the mall to the left. Very easy to get to. The bartender was very easy to talk to and the food was served quickly and hot. I didn't take a picture of it, but I mixed an apricot beer with a spicy beer. Great balance and tasty brew combo.

Yelp
Wow what a great local spot to stop at when visiting Duluth. There's a free parking lot and a pay per hour ramped parking lot next to the building making it super easy for new visitors like myself. Ambiance-wise this place really set the mood for MN. A causal setting with lots of seating and friendly service. I will say I did not expect this place to be in a mall so it was also fun to walk around after eating. Food Jerk pork wrap was delicious. Good amount of flavor along with their crispy fries. Bratwurst patty sandwich was also so good and juicy. I think next time I stop in I'll get their burgers here.
google avatar

Rich V.

Yelp
What a disappointment!! Food was below average and the service was average. Ordered cheese curds, the pretzel, fish tacos, kids fish meal and wild rice burger. The cheese curds and fish were fried in dirty fry oil, the pretzel was okay and the wild rice burger lacked seasoning. I ordered one THC seltzer and they charged me for 4. They also added a 5% service charge for the kitchen?!?! It's super lame to add a service charge for BOH employees, the restaurant should take the 5% from their profits and not the customer. It would be better to raise their menu prices instead of surprising the customer at the end of meal. I will not be back again, there are plenty of better options in town. If you go to this restaurant, make sure you check your itemized bill before paying.

Yelp
Had heard good things about this place so went for a visit when we were in town for marathon weekend. We were seated immediately on a Sunday evening in a cozy booth. Waitress immediately took our drink orders and brought us waters. I ordered the Cherry Flanders beer and she warned me that it was a sour and I told her that's what I like. It was nice that she warned me, though, because it was truly the sourest sour I've ever had. Son's girlfriend ordered the Apricot Wheat which was also yummy and husband enjoyed his IPA. Son, son's girlfriend and I all ordered the smoked fish salad. It seemed like a yummy, local thing to order. It came with a smoked dressing which was interesting. It looked like peanut butter but the waitress said it was mayo based. It was served on the side. Salad was delicious. We all loved it. Husband's burger was good but nothing special. Overall a good experience.

Yelp
Fun, casual, chill, and big. Lots of tables, lots of food options, very filling. It was the perfect stop after hiking all day and driving. My group and i all got different wild rice burgers. I got their pub style burger, which was super yummy. My two other group mates got the classic style wild rice burger. My pub style was very good, and whoever made my burger made a design on the bun out of the chipotle sauce (they drew an angry face, it was really good honestly). I loved that extra detail lol. The burger also came with fries that were the perfect salty snack after sweating all day while hiking. Always love going to Fitgers and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a casual eat in Duluth.
google avatar

Janna L.

Yelp
Not to be dramatic, but I would eat their Caesar dressing like a bowl of soup if it were socially acceptable to do so. The wrap and fries were the perfect amount of food to fill you without feeling gross afterwards. If you like ranch, make sure to ask for a side of it for your fries! The closest comparison to taste and consistency I can make is Wingstop. The beers are good, enjoyed mine. Our service was great! Would definitely recommend to friends and family! They also validate parking, either take your ticket in or save your receipt

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to go in Duluth when I visit! Dim lit vibe and very friendly staff. Usually a wait for tables on weekends but bar seating is help yourself. Usually no complaints about the food but during my latest visit, my poutine burger was a bit charred and I think it could've used some more cheese curds and gravy. Tons of options though and I'll try something else on their long list of good menu choices!
google avatar

Magna R.

Yelp
We were so excited to stop in as a group! When we got there we were quoted an hour wait time (totally understand - most of our group had worked service industry at some point). We agreed to go walk around as a group and wait for the call but the call never came. Hostess seemed rude from the get go and made a point to say the wait was an hour but she really had no idea how long it could be. If you can't get us in, that's fine, but then just say that. We wandered around for over an hour and a half before choosing a different place to eat and drink. How unprofessional. We will not be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good food and service. The vibe here fit us. We really enjoyed our visit here. We will be back on our next visit to Duluth

Nicole M.

Yelp
Such a cool building with a bunch of fun businesses inside. Everything we order at Fitgers was delicious. Had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for a late lunch on Sunday.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
It's a little dark inside but I suppose is part of the brewery vibe. Our server was amazing. I could have taken a bath in the poutine gravy. So good. Huge portions, too.
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
Great place! Lots of history, great food, great beer. The classic wild rice burger was way better than I expected. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Kirsten M.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service, and wonderful beers. Had a flight (pictured) and a couple of burgers. As someone who enjoys not as much hops in brewskis, I'd say the Apricot Wheat beer was our favorite!
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
This place was just ok. Low lit bar-style grill. It is located in a really cool old building with shopping all around, which was pretty cool. The food wasn't extraordinary, but it was not bad. Nothing was "oh dear that's not good!" But none of it was "WOW that is amazing and we have to come back!!" We did enjoy our onion rings and I do have to say not only were the hostess girls a sweet delightful duo our server was super sweet and attentive. They have a yummy cider (alcoholic) drink that really hit the spot. But I don't think it's a place that we MUST come back to unfortunately.
google avatar

Charlie L.

Yelp
I am a visiter from the west coast . I come here every so often to visit a friend. This is always a must do for me. The service is always friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is like the local drinking hole. The food? Fantastic!!! My favorite is the wild rice burger with beer battered fries! Yummmm ... always perfect! Highly recommend
google avatar

elizabeth s.

Yelp
Food was excellent! But waitress service not as good, waitress not friendly and frankly rude, made a point to go back to tell me to read menu, something I accidentally missed. I'd go back to see if we get a different waitress.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Five stars for beer, three for food. This is a nice brew pub. Good ambience. Food was fine, but typical pub fare and nothing special. The building is very historic and quite interesting. Besides the pub there are a number of shops and a hotel. Fun to walk around. We were glad we visited.
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
Went out for St Patty's day for drinks and appetizers. Drinks were great and the service was lovely. Our bartender Simon was cute and kind and the artichoke dip was great (and gluten free). Didn't get the wild rice burger but it's always top of my list. Will be back again!
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
Spotted in after a long drive up north for a wedding and wanted a place to get a beer and burgers. This place was perfect for it! The staff where so kind and very funny (had many laughs)! Love the style of the place that feels dive bar like but still put together and whimsical. I got a burger and it was extremely good. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
My GO-TO when passing through Duluth. Very consistent food (maple salad & cheese curds) and an awesome oatmeal stout. Outstanding bartender/server Ryan S deserves a shout out as he is really stellar. See ya in October!
google avatar

Steve D.

Yelp
Fitter's! A Duluth must. I haven't been here in awhile and I had a customer that decided this is where we're doing lunch. Everything was great! I had the three little Piggies sandwich with Onion rings. Also tried their House Hazy IPA. Pleasantly surprised how good everything was. Service was great also. I'll Definitely be back next time in town.

Justin C.

Yelp
Food was just fine but the ambience was stellar being inside of an old brewery to have lunch. I let the bar tender order my meal as I said "just make it good", I'm adventurous to say the least. Would definitely return just to for the apricot beer and the building.

Kim D.

Yelp
Food was great! I had the maple salad and the maple vinaigrette dressing was amazing. My husband had the fish wrap and was delicious as well. Friendly servers! Nice, fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Elijah W.

Yelp
I only stopped in to hang out for a little bit but was met with great service and better than expected pretzels! I also really was surprised by their beer flight. There is also a nice upstairs area that I enjoyed. Overall I was very pleased with my time there!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great visit to Fitger's Brewhouse on Sunday evening. Although there was a line to eat indoors, we wanted to eat outdoors and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and I'm guessing a little bit new. Had to flag him down for things like ketchup, refills and silverware. But no issues and he was nice. I was pleased with their craft beer selection and really loved the stout. We started with the elote dip which was not only unique but try delicious! Corn, poblano, brie, and served on tortilla chips. I couldn't get enough of this. I also really liked the wild rice burger. Vegetarian option and quite tasty. My bun however was a bit soggy in the middle. The fries were battered and still crispy. I was pretty pleased with everything I ate and would happily go back to try more of their dishes.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
This is my dad's favorite spot to grab a burger and a beer whenever he is in town visiting me - and the best part is, everyone else in the family enjoys it as much as he does! Aside from the growlers and fantastic selection of tap beers, the food here is always great and the atmosphere is just as good. We order takeout from here every month or so, and it's always so so good. Personally I love the Wild Rice Burger, especially with the delicious garlic aioli and fresh sprouts. The Fish and Chips is super tasty, and the Vegetarian Chili is very flavorful. I always recommend this spot to friends who visit Duluth for its convenient location and great overall atmosphere.
google avatar

Brandon S.

Yelp
Best cheese curds ever! Apricot wheat beer is phenomenal. Go here for sure, pecan beer comes with a cookie just for the cherry on top!

R A.

Yelp
Terrible!!! Don't waste your time! The burger was a Costco 1/4 lb patty and over cooked. The fish were tiny Costco fish fingers and only 3 of them. The fries were soggy. The chilly tasted rotten or funky or something. Please avoid the chilly!! It wasn't! No matter what you order for beer, they only have two flavors. Extra bitter super HOPS. or Green peas. Seriously?! How do you make beer taste like green peas?! CHECK YOUR BILL! There is an extra 5% kitchen service fee hidden in it! Minnesota does not have a server tip law !!! Servers make a full wage. You don't have to tip. And you definitely shouldn't be paying an hidden tip fee in Communist Minnesota!

Yelp
We took advantage of the curbside delivery option while staying in Duluth. When we checked out online, we were quoted a 30 minute timeframe when it would be ready. The food was 20 minutes later than the quoted time which was a bit annoying but it's a Saturday night so understandable. Would have been courteous of the employee who we checked in on the phone with to give us a bit more of an updated time though. Employee who delivered the food was pleasant and masked. Now the 4 stars - The food was great! My boyfriend and I split the poutine - so good with spicy Jalapeños! I had the Wild rice burger - burger was delicious! Bun was kind of dry and unexciting so ditched that. Coleslaw pretty decent too. My boyfriend had the Southwest burger. Great Guacamole! Carrot cake was also moist and satisfying.

Meara K.

Yelp
Hard to find the actual restaurant if you park in the underground parking lot as it is tucked away inside the mall. Burgers were great, along with the service. Very dark inside, however good place for a quick stop for a burger and beer!

Doris M.

Yelp
Food is great! Beer battered fries are excellent! Lightly battered and crispy, just right. Poutine fair, but also not a favorite of mine and I'm Canadian by birth. Pub burger was tasty and cooked to order. Wait staff friendly but very busy. Short wait even at their busiest. I'm not a microbrew fan but their Apricot wheat pale ale was good. Lots of beer options if you're a fan. The vibe is that of an old local brew house. Mixed crowd with lots of college age clientele.
google avatar

Wendy B.

Yelp
The cheese curds were great. Light coating with a bit of cheese oozed out and crisp-fried. The three pigs sandwich, I would order again! House made salsa was fresh and flavorful. Our server was friendly and attentive. Sharp lady! Seating on the sidewalk was ok. It was nice for us with a dog but street noise is less than ideal. All said, I'd eat here again!

Daniel P.

Yelp
The food is average, which is above-average for the Duluth area. But I'm knocking off a star for the mandatory gratuity that's secretly added onto the check.
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
Fitger's is a must-visit for my family every time we travel to Duluth. With a great beer list and a good variety of food options, you can't go wrong! Some of my favorites are the burgers (especially the wild rice burgers) and the vegan chili. Pro tip: Since this spot is often busy, get your name on the waitlist as soon as you enter the building. Once you've done that, wander some of the fun shops in the building while you wait. That said, we've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes, so we usually have a few more shops to check out after our meal too! Pro tip #2: Bring your parking stub to the restaurant for validation, so you get free parking in the attached garage!

Nancy M.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Burgers are perfect, interesting menu options, and mmm, great brews! Every time we are in Duluth, we have to stop at Fitgers! Great service too
google avatar

Jen E.

Yelp
Nice dinner here. I enjoyed the loaded nachos which were perfect with veggie chili on top. My companions had the elk burger, onion rings, and the cobb salad. Everything was good. I loved the Halloween decorations in the lobby!!!
google avatar

Dennis H.

Yelp
Good food and service! It was friendly and the staff were on the ball! I would go back very soon if I only lived closer!
google avatar

Kay K.

Yelp
Spent a leisurely weekday lunch here with friends. No problem getting an outdoor table, well spaced out from other diners. Service was prompt and friendly; we had 2 different people check on us throughout the meal. The server said their fish tacos were considered "best in town". I haven't had other fish tacos in Duluth as I'm just visiting for the day so can't compare but I am a big fan of fish tacos overall so gave it a try. They're pretty decent, fresh and crispy toppings, flakey fish. The beer battered fries that come with most of the sandwiches are e-v-i-l as in deliciously yummy. The onion rings are also fairly solid - ask for the horseradish dip - really really good. Walk off the fried beer battered goodness of everything afterwards. The boardwalk is just below and the fall scenery is picturesque.
google avatar

S L.

Yelp
Very cool looking place. Service was great and everything was delicious. Husband had a couple beers (the Haze IPA & Cherry Batch) and he said they were good (rated 3.5 and 4 stars on untapped). Had cheese curds for an appetizer, kids had a grilled cheese and chicken tenders with green apples. I had the chicken sandwich and my husband had the brew house burger. Both were pretty good and would order again. Overall, we would definitely come back here.
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
Stopped by after a long hike for a beer and snack. The pub had a nice beer selection. It was expensive, $28 for two draughts and a quesadilla appetizer. A 20% charge is added for tax and kitchen labor costs. I can never figure out why restaurants just don't raise prices. A service charge is silly. We sat inside as the freeway is a little loud for outdoor seating. Solid choice for a beer if this is what you are looking for.
