Yelp
I met up with a friend at five corners restaurant to catch up and it was conveniently in Ironbound area of Newark. Parking was not too difficult as I was able to catch a free spot right next to the restaurant.
I'm glad we went during the day during lunchtime, because the restaurant was not busy at all when we walked in. We were greeted by a young man who was like the Jack of all trades. Nicolas was our server, the host and the bartender. Nicolas was friendly and helpful when we couldn't decide on beverages.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with wonderful neutral tones, green plants, plenty of natural lighting and the music was also on point. We felt very comfortable there and could sit and people watch if we had no where to go. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the majority of our lunch, so we are glad that it didn't take a long time for the bread (no olives) to come out, and the rest of our food came out in good time.
The food was good not amazing. We did enjoy most of what we ordered. We ordered the salmon tartare and it did not come with anything, no crackers, bread or chips, which we thought that was different so we requested bread with it. What we didn't like was we noticed that the avocado that came with the salmon tartare was Brown/dark olive, which we expected to be bright green as fresh avocados are green. I didn't care for the salmon tartare especially since it didn't look appealing. We ordered the Chicken Marsala and the Chicken Milanese and both were good. The chicken Marsala came with mashed potatoes and was better than the chicken Milanese. Since I checked in on Yelp, we were able to taste one of their desserts! We chose the tiramisu... and it was okay. We probably should have tried something different. Hopefully next time. We also ordered two of the spritzers, I had the blueberry one and it was refreshing... but I couldn't pick up on the blueberry flavor.
Overall it was a good experience, Would I come back? Yes, I would probably come back for dinner to try a different dish.
