This place is terrible. My family ordered large portions of porridge and needed two disposable bowls to divide it into. We asked all the staff but no one gave us any, and we were even charged extra. This should have been a warm and friendly community shop, but they totally let us down

Tonight I took the boys to "FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISHES CHINESE CUISINE". I love their roasted ducks 🦆 & sesame chicken 🐓 . Whenever I go to Queens I have to stop by here to get half a duck or chicken no matter what circumstances 😂 . For $15 you get a container full of half chicken and $18 for half a Duck plentiful enough for the week. Their dimsum selections is also good. They only take CASH no Card accepted which is a disadvantage.

Great place to get a full meal for lunch dinner or add a dish or two to dinner. Traditional Chinese roast meat spot. Great prices. You pay first before picking up your food. Recommend!

My mom and I have been to this place and ordered take out of roast pork, sushi, and soy sauce chicken. The food there was wonderful and tasty. The service was wonderful and that the atmosphere was that there were people in their eating, drinking, talking and others.

So much food to choose from! Dim sum, roast duck, crispy pork, BBQ pork — and the rice boxes are packed! Portions are generous and the price is super affordable.

Dimsums are great, and the roast pig is my go to. Very affordable comfort food. If you are asian, you would definitely love this place.

This place is really recommended for everyone who looks for dim sum and choices food with your want. I've been here at least 3-4 times a week and never bored to eat dim sum here. Good price, good taste, and it's value for money IMHO. I always order steam shumay LOL

First time here in years and I finally found the steamed beef tendons I've spent many years looking for! As a matter of fact, the beef tendons were delicious over white rice. The combo of chicken feet, beef tendons & beef balls really hit the spot for me. They brought me back to my childhood and reminded me of how lucky I was my parents gave my siblings and me the opportunity to experience what real dim sum is all about. I must say the prices here are pretty reasonable. The four choices with white rice lunch box was only $9 which isn't bad however I wish my server gave me larger portions of my four choices. This lunch box also came with soup too.,The large fried rice for $6 was definitely worth it. The main reason why I took away a star was because the beef short ribs was mainly bones, there was a lot of fat on the beef short ribs and very little meat. I was kind of disappointed when I ate the beef short ribs, I know it can be better. However, the taste of the beef short ribs was on point so I might give it another chance to redeem itself if they look fresh and meaty next time. Overall, I would definitely come back for the beef tendons, beef balls and chicken feet. I would also try the four choices lunch box again. Next time, I would try other dim sum as well. This place definitely made it onto my rotating list of frequently visited places for comfort food.

This place sells dimsum, roasted meats, and the typical choose 3 or 4 sides + rice & soup for $8.50/9.00. Dimsum quality seemed to have gone down since the last time I've ordered from here or maybe it was an off day. Turnip cake was super salty, shrimp rice rolls only have 2 pieces of shrimp now when it's typically 3, and the tripe has a piece of plastic mixed in... ugh. Also ordered shumai (tasted like the frozen kind, not fresh), spare ribs (a bit salty, texture ok), shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings, tofu skin roll (greasy, but lots of filling). Overall, the only thing that was good and comparable to a restaurant was the shrimp rice roll. The skin was nice and thin and the shrimp was good.

2.5stars rating This place is okay for its location. You might as well go to actual dimsum for its price though. $4.50 is the same price for some good places in Flushing, NY. The quality is not the best. If I was lazy and older and didn't feel like going to actual dimsum, then by all means, come here. In terms of authenticity rating, I would place this right in between Chinese Takeout and Authentic Dim Sum. The worst part about this place is ordering. You have to go to the lady to order: she sets aside your food and prints out a ticket for you to take to the cashier. Once paid with a ticket stamp, then and only then can you go pick up your food. It took about 10 minutes for 3-4 workers to help 2 customers in front to order pre-made food. There is a lot of confusion and inefficiencies for no reason. The lady should just pass the food to the cashier for the guest to pay. Instead, you get a lot of back and forth.

February 2023: Food is delish. Price is just right. Service is typical and ready in a NY minute. I ordered pig over rice and it was ready in a few minutes. Cash only. Lots of good food here, Canto style. The chunks of pig and pig skin was sublime, not dry at all with crispy skin. The place was packed at noon. Located in the heart of Elmhurst near the local stop of the M/R. Lots of parking for those who drive. The other great thing that I liked was that they have dim sum in back with a lot of options to choose from. Small business. No frills Chinese food with casual ambience. Cash only. Indoor dining and takeout available. Good for families/friends/solo. Bon appetit!

Biblical Food Reference Deep in Elmhurst, Queens Most restaurants are closed for the holiday, but this was fortunately open. Located close to the Elmhurst Avenue station subway stop and next door to the Asian grocery I frequent, this spot currently charges $8.50 for overflowing rice, four kinds of viands and some broth. Not a bad deal especially in overpriced New York. Although I remember when I first landed in NYC, it was just $4.50 at same spot. It was so much food, I ate it for three meals -- one of my plebeian survival strategies. It was very practical. And the name is so romantically biblical. Five Loaves and Two Fishes is referencing the story of how Jesus fed thousands out of very little --- and whose birthday we celebrate today! Happy birthday, JC! This no-frills food court-style dim sum restaurant offers a wide variety of options to choose from, including typical dim sum dishes, roasted meat, rice, and noodle dishes. The service was quick and efficient, with no communication barriers. The food here is also reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. I highly recommend trying the sam bo fan (5/5), which consists of crispy pork, Peking duck, Cantonese roast pork, a fried egg on top, rice, and bok choy. It is truly delightful. We also ordered a variety of dim sum dishes, which were also great. I have a deep fondness for this place and will undoubtedly return in the future. I also just found out that the name of this restaurant had Biblical reference. It was when the Lord Jesus Christ was presented with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes, and multiplied it abundantly to feed the multitudes who followed him. In the end, it became evident that many were drawn by the desire for blessings and personal gain, and as they came to understand the true cost of following Christ, the crowd grew even smaller. For many are called, but few are chosen. For men love darkness more than light.

I haven't been here for 3 yrs since I've noticed from reviews it's gone way downhill and their health inspection ratings are horrifying considering that the dim sum is not meant for me but my elderly mom. Since Rainbow Dim Sum was closed, my brother went to pick up a lil food for my mom. It's a C rating, which I'd never go to...but my brother either didn't notice or didn't care... well my mom only ate 1 har gow and she threw up. My brother was completely fine since he's used to eating at restaurants with bad health ratings. Again if you have a weak immune system, I would not recommend this place. The dim sum wasn't great years ago when there was more traffic so it's gotta be much worse now. The last time I was here yrs ago I tried their barbecue meats since my father at time said it was decent. No it was not. It was pretty bad so I haven't been back for years. Like the worst roast pork I've ever had in my life. The meat quality is really low.

Really great food and dim sum! I've eaten here at least twice a month for the past half a year and I'm always satisfied with the meal. Definitely try the triple meat meal to kind of hash out what meat they make is your favorite (I love them all). Pork buns, dumplings and fish balls are great too. Just do yourself a favor - order!

I used to go here on Sundays a lot. It was convenient to park ( although gets tight sometimes) and the supermarket next door. Went on Sunday and now they are closed on Sundays. Can somebody explain why a Chinese food operation that operated in a Chinese enclave be closed for business on Sundays????!!! Does that make any sense???!!!! That is money foregone. I'd give it more stars if it was opened on Sunday.

my experience was very bad. their health inspection ratings are horrifying i found a roach in my food i will never go this place.

Got: Curry chicken, mapo tofu, a veggie (forgot which one) Price: $8 Value: 10/10 My family calls this "4 things over rice." You walk in and all the food is laid out in front of you. Ranges from stewed meats, fried shrimp, sauteed veggies. I don't speak Chinese very well so I just hold up 4 fingers to indicate the number of items I want with the rice and proceed to choose what looks appealing. Super traditional. Large serving size. Great if you're on the run but need a hearty filling meal. To name a few items: Braised fish, mapo tofu, black bean clams, chicken feet, curry chicken, pigs ear, fried shrimp, sauteed every veggie, fried fish, stuffed eggplant, bitter melon. The rice box with your chosen items comes with a container of soup. I usually get 4 items instead aof 3 because what's an extra 50 cents for that much more food?! Would recommend :)

A great place with many options for an affordable meal. They have everything from dim sum dishes to roasted meats, noodle soups, and the "3 or 4 choices" over rice. This is a classic spot for me! There's not many places that still do the Chinese choices over rice cafeteria-style lunch boxes so this has been my go-to place in the area. The prices have slowly gone up over time, but it's still very affordable considering the surrounding restaurants. For the rice it's now $8 (3 choices) and $8.5 (4 choices) and +$1 if you decide to get the same side more than once. It's a no frills place --you don't even have to speak a word for the whole process. Just hold up your fingers for how many boxes of rice you want and you can point at the dishes from behind the glass accordingly, shake or nod your head, take the receipt, pay it at the counter (cash only!), and take the paid receipt back to get your food. The food isn't extravagant and may not be the healthiest, but the portions are good. They have a wide variety of dishes with many different flavors. There's lots of cross-usage of the ladles and tongs to scoop food so if you have any allergies or food restrictions it's something to note. Currently the place seems minimally staffed so there can be a wait sometimes if there's lots of other customers. Given the situation, it understandable so I don't hold it against them. I'll be back!

Quality has gone down, the roast duck is almost unrecognizable in terms of how average it tastes...it used to be excellent

They gave me a runaround. Then she charged me 17 dollars. I asked why so much. She told me I added pork and century egg congee to the order . So ridiculous.

part 1 !!!!!! The food tastes, OK but people there ridiculous It just happened today I went there around 3 PM. Ordered simple meal after I finished and then order some food to go at the meantime, I drop two large bill on the floor I didn't know the chef saw it on floor told owner lady to get it Before she come I realized that might be mine cause at that time only me and the other customer in the lobby so I told on a lady that it got to be mine And she said that's my store. You cant prove that is mine so tell me to wait until she found out from the camera otherwise I have to give it to her the money from the floor

I remembered my father and I came here once to buy or afternoon meal. The one time was when my father and I took the subway to visit Baruch College. The portions are shall for the price. As with Da Pai Don, they have different items. The is one place to order box lunches. Anyone can pick up to four dishes.

Absolutely love this place. This is a everyday persons paradise. You get so much value for your money. You can get rice and 4 different Chinese dishes in one takeout container for $8. You can't get that at many places and for the quality they give. Also love their dim sum and their bbq meats. Please come if you are in Elmhurst area. Solid place for takeout.

If you're looking for takeout dimsum at a cheap price, this is the place for you. I was able to feed about three people for less than $25, in my book that's a steal! For reference, six dimsum dishes + a dantat cost me $24.50. While you certainly won't get the best quality dimsum here, there are far and few takeout dimsum places in the Elmhurst area where you can get such a wide variety of dishes. The hargao, shrimp Cheung fun, siumai and chive dumplings were solid. While the others were just okay; the inside custard bun was a bit too hard inside. Overall, would recommend to satisfy a craving!

The dim sum, roast pig and char-siew are spot on! This is a no frills, pick up and go place so service is fast but comes with the usual jostling of most Chinatown joints albeit in Elmhurst. It's all cash so make sure you stop at the atm before going. They also have an extensive rice + 2 or rice + 3 take out counter - I haven't tried it yet but loads of choices of side dishes to choose from and they all look good. There is a free parking lot outside the restaurant that it shares with the supermarket. I stopped by on Christmas morning last year to get dim sum for my aunt and cousins, they were open and there was parking! It's worth the visit, this is my go to spot for dim sum and roast pork since Rainbow Dim Sum went on hiatus and Corner 28's dim sum counter in the back shuttered.

Poor quality roast meat. Had a lot of bones. Undercooked too. Couldn't eat it. Seems overpriced too, charged $10.80 for a half pound order. Not worth going back.

Immediately following Lunar New Year grocery shopping next door at US Supermarket I succumb to the extreme madness of pre-Lunar New Year 2021 grocery shopping and worked a appetite. Menus are posted above the counter to order full entrees and are prepared when requested. Lunch time on a Saturday in COVID-19 era is Chinese Dim Sum takeout. There is no organized ordering system as customers crowded to push their way front and center of the glass window barrier of the prepared hot foods and shouting aggressively their orders to staff. My direct firsthand experienced at this takeout cafe is an exquisite exercise of utter chaos and "every man for himself" is the belief when ordering to be shoveled behind or to be stepped on as err on the side of caution. I was a victim to be shoveled behind waited ten minutes for my turn. I was prepared to argue with whoever was standing next to me forcing through their way as the second time around with "woman, you had your turn now it's mine! Can you wait?! Do you understand you have to wait your turn?!" Payment process can be indelible chaos and confusing, especially for first timers like myself, but the power of observation of repeat customers serve as a model to emulate. After selecting your food customers receive a bill with the total price then subsequently walk to the cashier for cash only payment followed by showing your paid receipt back to the ordering line to pickup your order. I wanted something simple, already prepared and a Chinese staple. To my delight I am always enamored with Chinese fried dumplings and large Chinese steamed dumplings with scallions for $7.00 total. Condiments of low sodium soy sauce are provided in microscopic portion. Misery and stingy!! Business cards available for grabs. Note: Staff hone very rudimentary English skills. For the second generation Chinese American who are withdrawn either in Cantonese or Mandarin language I suggest to physically point your food selection through the glass window barrier and then subsequently shake your head up and down as a international non-verbal communication for "yes" to articulate your order correctly.

Let's put it this way, we ordered five dim sum dishes. After tasting them we literally spit each out after the first bite, it was that vile and disgusting. Imagine tasting Alpo mixed with seer water. There was one that wasn't disgusting that had a sweet taste. That my hubby finished one of. But we ended up throwing everything out. It just wasn't edible. Then we hopped in an Uber and headed to a decent place we knew. Disappointing to say the least. Save your money.

Love this place for some quick and delicious food. Hit up the steam table for a three or four dish and rice, they are all delicious. Affordable food offered in a variety of dishes. Conveniently located, it gets crowded sometimes, but you can also order your food to go.

Located just to the left of the Chinese supermarket, this place is like a mini Chinese (Cantonese) food court. There are several food counters located inside: 1) BBQ meat - The classic BBQ meat hanging in the window. You can buy the meat by the pound or choose to have it over rice or noodle 2) Sushi 3) Dessert and drink counter offering bubble tea and other sweets 4) Dim sum counter - The variety here was decent with dumplings, siumai, pork buns, cheung fun, radish cake and more. 5) Choose 4 items with rice and soup for $6.50 The choose 4 items is their most popular stall. I was pleasantly surprised at how big the selection was. The following are just some of the things offered: beef with broccoli, spicy tofu, fish cakes with vegetables, Peking pork chops, sesame chicken, beef brisket stew, pork belly, fried glass noodles, fried chicken, and much more. There were easily at least 30 different things on display to choose from on the steam tables. You just point out to the workers which ones you want. I have eaten a good variety of the selections. Though some are better tasting than others, all of them were of decent quality and freshness. Some of them seemed like they might be a day old, but still very edible. The portion size given for only $6.50 is also very generous!

This is go to spot for take out dimsum! I typically go early on a weekend and end up ordering in bulk. My favorites are the panfried chive and shrimp dumplings, shu mai, har gow, and the lotus wrapped chicken and rice pouches. I haven't tried all the dishes but these few are as good the sit down dim sum restaurants.

Great food at affordable prices. I got their 干炒牛河, beef stir fried flat noodles, which was really good when eaten hot and fresh. I also got their two meat Chinese bbq platter with the roast pork and soy sauce chicken. We got some egg tarts as well. Definitely would recommend.

It's a strange place. You can get some dim sum, rice boxes, and roast meats. It helps if you can speak Chinese. You go to the correct counter and order what you want. They then give you a receipt and you pay at the register. They stamp it and you bring the receipt back to the counter where they then give you the food you ordered. We ordered sui mai (pork dumplings), chueng fun (beef rice roll and shrimp rice roll), loa ba goa (turnip cake) and gung jioa ( chicken feet). It's not the best dim sum ever but it's good in a pinch. We also got half soy sauce chicken and half roast duck. All together it was a little over $40 for a lot of food. Not too bad of an experience. There was hand sanitizer for customers. The workers were all behind plastic sheets and wore masks. Must wear a mask to go in. Cash only.

I'm usually not the person to ever a write a review, even the not-so-good places I have eaten but this one definitely worth a review. I ordered 3 meat combo with rice, shrimp rice rolls, and bun which i thought was pork, but they gave me something else. The meat I chose was pork, chicken and duck. All of them were honestly not good at all. The platter cane with rice and a SHIT ton of greens, which i thought was boy choy or something but it was parsley which i thought was very weird. The shrimp rolls were very tough and the paper was very thick compares to the filling. The "pork" bun that I asked for wasnt pork. I couldn't even tell you what what in it, but it tasted weird and smelled rotten. I would NOT recommend this place at all. Save your time and money please

Decent spot for Chinese food. For breakfast, you can choose from their selection of dim sum. My go-to ones are Shrimp Dumplings, Shrimp Cheung Fun, Chives & Shrimp Dumpling, Radish Cake, and Fried Taro Dumpling. They are solid and does the job! I would avoid any congee, it doesn't seem fresh and it's not a popular item. For lunch or for dinner, you can choose from barbecue goods or the three items over rice option. It is quick and food is good.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice your review gets another downgrade. I stopped by for some lunch and they put so little food in the box it was not laughable but makes me angry. I compliant but fell in death ears. All of a suddenly they don't understand English or Chinese! Last photo shows how little food they gave me.

If you're looking for a variety of chinese (cantonese food) then this is the place for you! This place has a lot to offer for a very affordable price. They have a roasted pork, roasted chicken and duck, they also have ready made food which you can pick 4 types of food with rice for only $6.50. They also have that corner for chinese desserts but not so many option. If you want to dine in they have good amount of tables and chairs. I love this place. Food is good and its cheap so what else are we looking for?

At some point when Queens folks get too conditioned by the extensive Asian food courts of Flushing / Brooklyn Chinatown, it makes places like this spot look completely mediocre in comparison. It is a mini-Chinese food court with limited seating, serving Dim Sum, Cantonese BBQ, Sushi, and Hot Pot at various stations. It is all very lackluster, but I think when push comes to shove, it's nice that Elmhurst even has an option. So many Chinese places cop out with the English name (Golden Dragon, Jade Garden, Flower Phoenix, etc.) but this place has held steady. Five Loaves and Two Fishes is the literal translation of 五餅二魚 and I commend them for sticking to a direct meaning versus going with something else. As I understand, this name has some religious origins that I won't get into for the sake of brevity, but I still wanted to give credit where credit is due. Like most average spots, they have their good and bad days. On their best days, the bbq meats are juicy and not too salty. This means their 燒肉 pork belly, 叉燒 roast pork, and 醬油雞 soya chicken are worthy for a lunch plate or take out for eating at home. It is a bit of a crapshoot, but I would venture going here no later than noon to make sure the meat is of decent quality. By 2pm and after, it's all just for the flies. The Dim Sum is somewhere in the same realm. On select days, it feels plentiful and looks colorful, but on many other days it looks like some room temperature / been out all day / bland looking bunch of items. I have had a decent 蛋撻 egg tart or two, as well as a solid 羅播高 turnip cake. The rest have been satisfactory at best, it just depends on how desperate I am. I would venture staying away from the sushi and avoiding the faux hot pot as impossible scenarios for all. Hell, even the bubble tea is a gamble but I can't imagine them outperforming the dedicated places just around the corner. I made the mistake of going for a noodle soup and an assorted combo of sushi and I'm still reeling from how bad it was. The meat was fishy and the soup was just so sodium filled. To say it left a bad taste in my mouth would be a severe understatement. I'm not their biggest fan but I understand the need for a spot like this in a satellite Chinese community like Elmhurst. The only thing I can hope is that they get better and maybe bigger (?) and get their service and product in order. Ditch the sushi and turn that side of the business into some other quality specialty. Handpulled noodles (ramen) perhaps?

This place is like Panda Express if Panda Express served legitimate Chinese food and was a lot cheaper. There are a few different stations and lots of seating in the middle so it's a bit like a food court in that sense. The back serves assorted hot food over rice, there's a sushi counter, bubble tea, dim sum, and a BBQ section. I tried the rice combo and got siopao and siumai to-go. The ordering system is a bit different. Once you choose the foods you want they print out a ticket which you then take to the cashier (cash only). You pay and the cashier stamps your ticket and you bring it back to the people serving the food. That's when you are given your heaping serving of food in a styrofoam container. It also comes with a big container of soup. I ordered the 4 dish combo over rice. I had something akin to mapo tofu, fish casserole, pork belly, and something that resembled sesame chicken. Let; an amazing deal for $7. You can definitely share with someone and both be satisfied. Each dish was decent; definitely not the best tasting or best quality but if that's what you're expecting you've come to the wrong place. The siopao and siumai I took home was also pretty good. The service is extremely quick and the place is decently clean. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat this is a great option.

Went in one day because we were over in the arena and wanted to try out a new place. I wish we would of kept looking because anything would of been better than this place. ANYWHERE. First off the lady who helps you out to choose what it is you want speaks no English at all. Not a big deal unless you had a question about a dish that looks questionable. We ordered a few things to have a traditional dim sum experience. I ordered what I thought was a fried turnip cake. Well it may have been when it first started out but when I took a bite all I tasted was fish sauce. I hate fish sauce. I don't understand it's purpose. Then we ordered a few other items but each one of them were not memorable so I cannot give a review on them. Just know that they were disgusting. The long and short I of it is that we couldn't swallow anything and it basically turned us off from eating that day.

Cash only, fast, cheap, and AUTHENTIC. Just moved to elmhurst recently and my friend took me here. You get rice, 3 sides, and soup for ~$6. There are SO many options and the side dishes you can choose from often change from day to day so there's a lot of variety. Initially, I thought this would be a typical Chinese restaurant where the food isn't fresh and everything is packed with sodium. However, this is NOT the case!! I ordered the hong shao rou, ma po tofu, and a vegetable/fish side. Everything was flavored just right and not overly salty at all!! The hong shao rou is a MUST get. Truly felt like I was just going home to my parents' home to grab some rice and dinner. The quantity they give you is also HUGE. You will not leave hungry All in all, if you're looking for cheap GOOD food in elmhurst and you're short on time, is HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place.

If you want more bang for your buck, this is the place to go. For under $10, you can have a complete meal and a to-go to boot. Don't expect something fancy or out of this world - this is a no-frills, quick eats, cheap alternative to the American fast food chains. Keep your cards in your wallet because this place is strictly cash only.

Love the fact that you can get dimsum in elmhurst to take home! They are open early in the morning. There is also a parking lot. Their dim sum is flavorful. Price is decent.

Got take out on numerous occasions from this restaurant. Lunch and Dinner for $5.25 pick three items and rice or $5.95 pick four items with rice for $5.95. So much fun to look at the options. From Bok Choy to Clams to fish and mixed vegetable. Something for everyone. Price is reasonable and really a great deal. Did not super size it this time and went for the three items with rice. Staff will give you a ticket then you go to the cash register to pay them and bring back paid ticket where your meal is all bagged up for you. There are tables and chairs for you to sit an enjoy your meal. Also there is a counter area where there is Dim Sum. Like their selection. Go early for many popular items are sold out. Like the sticky rice (yummy filling- like a meal itself) wrapped with leaves. Yeah! Got the last one. Fun part about Dim Sum is trying many of the dishes and experiencing the flavors and textures. As well as figuring out what the hidden treasures are when it come to the filling. Other counter by the door on the left hand side as you walk in is the hanging chicken, duck and pork. They go by 1/2 a pound and up. Have not been to other stations or counters toward the right side. Think I saw sushi and juicing. Will be back for those the next time around.

Tried this place for the first time and was impressed by the selection. So much to choose I think we got way too much . Everything was delicious all the dim sum was close to what I normally would by from Chinatown,it was fresh and very tasty.we also tried roast pork and chicken over rice worth every penny . The price is also very reasonable.

Quick and easy grab and go Cantonese BBQ and dim sum, as well as the buffet style Chinese food. You have to order first, get the ticket from the lady so you can go pay, and then come back with the stamped receipt to get your food to go. Good quality and fairly priced food. I like their sesame balls and fried dumplings. They are sold individually for $1.75 each and are huge!

I'm Asian America.n and has been eating rice all my life , and the steam rice is so far, the best in queens my I would normally order the bbq, roast pig and duck with steamrice $7.25 The bbbq stuff is okay But their steamed rice 5-stars

I'm still a huge fan of the sliced bbq meats and the dimsum sections, but I have to update to say that the 4 items for $6.50 bar is waaay too salty! There isn't any way you can request them to go easy on the salt, since everything is prepared in advance. Just a note to the owners and chefs: cut back on the salt and maybe some of the oil, too. Maybe a couple of steamed or less salty options for those of us who want to eat a tiny bit healthier, huh? Just a thought. :)

What I like about this place is how hidden and low key it is. This hole in the wall food court, seems to serve some authentic and delicious food despite its appearance. My boyfriend and I ordered a some friend dumplings, and and gigantic sesame ball. Both were decently priced and yummy! The sesame ball at this place was the largest I've ever seen! It looked half the size of my boyfriends face. It was also one of the best sesame balls I've ever had.

Places like this practically save my life and my sanity when I'm broke and hungry. So, Five Loaves is actually a collection of 3 different establishments in one. There's the main one (with the meats, the dim sum, and the entree buffet); the beverage place on the right; and.. a third, smaller place next to it that always seems to be closed when I go. What do I come for? The all-day dim sum and the rice dishes (with 3-4 entrees). It's cheap, convenient, and acceptable - especially when you're in a bind. What don't I come in for? World class service. This place is a pretty divey Chinese-speaking place, folks. But you have to expect that. There is no greeter, no table service, no bussers. You buy your food and seat yourself or gtfo. If that bothers you, fear not. You're surrounded by a number of other places that can tickle your fancy.

i requested another bag but the woman at bbq section declined to offer and gave me a nasty look. Great, being stingy and saving a few cents of plastic bag for the store but ended up losing a long-term customer ordering your bbq. how clever

#Big selection for their pick four items over rice. Wasn't sure which ones were keto friendly. Who knows? At least my pee stick was still #purple after. Oh yeah, the lady gave me a receipt to go pay after I picked and she plated, but didn't give me the food. Then I went and paid and thought the cashier would give me the food. But turns out you have to go back to the #OG lady that gave me the first receipt and give her the new paid receipt. Then she gave me my food. So that's what you should do if you don't want to stand around for minutes wondering how to get your food.

****UPDATE (12/20/2016) The Chinese BBQ meat in the window is actually delicious. It's not ultra salty, always fresh and moist. And reasonably priced. I am talking about the roast duck, roasted spare ribs, roast pork, roasted pig, soy sauce chicken. All are delicious. I have been buying it to pack my lunches for work. It stays good for days! So good. Their BBQ is better than "other place" up Broadway in Elmhurst. Because of their BBQ meats, I am boosting 5 loaves from 3 stars to 4!!!!**** For me, it's an "a-ok" place. I would not go here on purpose. I would just stop by if I was looking for a super duper quick and cheap meal. It's one of those Chinese-pick-3-(or-4)-entree places. You get to pick it from their wide array of buffet items and they will place it onto a white rice lunch box. All the food is ready-made waiting for you to pick them. Price is $5.25 (?) for 3 entree items and $5.95 for 4 items. I had the 4 items because it's just so cheap. I had lunch the next day too. SCORE! Is the place gourmet? NO WAY JOSE. Is worth the price? YES! Are the tables clean...not where we sat but they will clean it for you if you ask them. It's cafeteria style eating so you have to just find an empty seat to eat your food at. I am not crazy about their paying system...it's horrible..they hold your food ransom, you get a ticket, pay at the cashier, your card gets stamped and then you have to get someone's attention to give you your food...hello...they are constantly helping new people get their lunchbox ready..HELLO...CAN I GET MY FOOD?! There were people standing there waving their paid tickets for attention to get their food. Their system is RIDICULOUS. They sell dim sum here but as a take out type of place. It's not really a dim sum house per se. Heck, they got an A....$6 which potentially can last two meals and an A?!?! MIC DROP....

The 5 stars is solely for the food and price! You get to pick 3 or 4 entrees with rice and it comes with soup. My boyfriend and I got two 4-choices and 2 dimsums for less than $18, That's a win in my books! Now if you don't speak Chinese, It's hard to communicate but you can just point at what you want like we did and they usually get the idea. Don't come for the service or interior. When you're craving their food, grab it and go home and feast!
