Brand New Eateries to Check Out in Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Perched high on the Hollywood Hills is Five On The Hill with chef Kee Yu at the helm. The approachable menu includes sure-fire hits like truffle garlic fries and roasted bone marrow, while the complimentary starter of fire-roasted “drunken nuts” was inspired by Yu’s favorite childhood snack in Korea." - Cathy Chaplin

I had a wonderful experience! Very pleasing, calming, relaxing, and peaceful! I had brunch with my family and got to experience the amazing atmosphere! And what made it better was the service by Tony! Served me and my family with great pleasure and respect! Made us all smile! He has such an amazing personality! I prefer to have Tony be your server! The Food was amazing! I had gotten the steak and eggs. The food came in good timing and was very delicious!

I took my girlfriend for her birthday, our first time. Martin was incredible, putting up with all our small inconveniences as if they were nothing. His suggestions for the Lobster Scampi and Toffee Bread Pudding were 🤌🏾💋 Chefs Kiss. All margaritas were made perfectly, and the wine fit perfectly with the Scampi. 10/10 in all aspects...best restaurant I've visited in LA so far, will be returning.

The place was ok. First getting here with Google maps gets you lost. Lol Go through to the Hilton Hotel the restaurant is across the front entrance of the Hotel. There is self-parking and valet. Kind pricey for 2 and bottomless, about 159$ that's including a no tip mandatory 15% restaurant fee. Bottomless mimosas were good. My favorite was the passion fruit and peach I think. Lavender was ok. The food I ordered chicken and waffles and I was slightly disappointed. Not much flavor on the chicken just red powder, not spicy. My sister ordered steak and eggs with chimichurri. That was ok meat. Service was ok and reservations recommended.

We had the opportunity to dine here for a birthday bunch for my partner. Our server Tony was amazing from start to finish. He anticipated our very need and delivered on time. He even made sure to ask was this for a special occasion. We loved every thing about our bunch experience here at Five on the Hill!! We definitely will be back! Thank you Tony for everything.

The ambience is so beautiful and the music selection is great. I brought my sister here for her birthday and she loved all the food! Highly recommend the garlic fries and the lobster scampi! Martin our server was so helpful and friendly as well. I’m looking forward to coming back another time

This place was amazing. Food was delicious and service was amazing. Tony, made my experience wanting me to come back for brunch. Thank you Tony, for being amazing and giving my party an amazing service and experience. The jalapeño breads, the steak, lobster, carbonara, fried chicken and desserts delicious. Omg, I forgot about the Brussels sprouts and garlic fries wow. You guys must try and ask for Tony. My daughter 18th birthday was celebrated with the best. Thank you once again. Atmospheres amazing.

Google
This restaurant has delicious food! We ordered 3 meals and an appetizer. The braised beef dish was outstanding, actually, the best braised beef dish I have ever eaten! Everything was very favorable and beautiful. We enjoyed it all. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Google
Yesterday was our first time there. It was amazing. We loved the food and the ambiance. The bread pudding was to die for. The GM stopped by and spoke with us. Great guy and very attentive to customer experience. We're going back for brunch this morning...which was freaking amazing!!! Last night our waiter was Ryan...super cool. Today...Tony...otherwise known as street hot dog guy. We love this place. ❤️❤️❤️

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with nice atmosphere. The food was also nice albeit a little of the pricey side. The sea-cutterie board was delicious. Cocktails were also great. The restaurant is away from everything so the food is cooked from within the hotel and brought out to you. Bathrooms are also inside the hotel so you have to walk a little ways to get to them. Service was great.

Yelp
First time here, pictures made it look like a great place to have a galentines dinner. But boyyyy were we wrong. Horrible service, horrible overpriced food, & horrible waiter. He was not friendly at all. We requested things we saw here on Yelp & he would respond with attitude saying it's ONLY what's on the menu. My friend had to ask another waiter in which he said we were able to order stuff outside the menu. Our waiter got bothered & asked us "who exactly told us we can order stuff outside the menu". Which he ended up doing anyways. His whole demeanor changed once we started ordering off the menu, instead of him clarifying whether or not it was possible. We didn't bother asking him for anything else because he didn't make us feel comfortable after. Shortly after that, other tables around us were also complaining about the same thing or lonnnngggg waits. When leaving the parking structure, my parking ticket was $48!!! There was a friendly parking garage security who informed us that we were supposed to get it validated which our waiter didn't even ask us if we needed that done. Thankfully he let it slide this one time and validated it for us because usually there isn't a person in the parking garage as he informed us. Save your money and don't come here!!!!

Yelp
Sorry to say this but this has to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever had. Also to add insult to injury you still gotta pay eight dollar parking with valet so (don't forget to valet) and the meal for four people was more than $200. nothing had flavor we had to ask for salt cheese and all types of other stuff. This was hot garbage. The meal still sucked after adding salt and cheese to it. entrées range from $25-$50 each. Also, we were there for the Christmas pop-up, which was pretty weak. The drinks were mid they did allow us to have a free dessert, because we did complain about how bad the meal was. The dessert was also garbage. It was pretty much diluted toffee pudding, and the bread was stale AF. you could tell they took the bread they were about to throw away and just repurposed it for dessert. So sad people have to pay $22 for that. The only thing that was good was the free bread they give you which is cornbread and jalapeño. Honestly, please save your money and do not come here. I feel so ripped off and having dragged my friends to come out here with me to waste their hard earned money on this restaurant. The waitress was nice.
google avatar

Jenn P.

Yelp
Not the Christmas vibes you wanted. I would say save your drive and parking drama and go somewhere else. It's decorative but not like the website and if you have seen this place on tik tok it's highly edited. You're literally out in the valet parking lot of the Hilton. Restrooms, bar, and food is in the actual hotel. That being said , food and drinks take forever. Our waiter seemed new. He was nice but for the prices and fancy-ness you would expect a seasoned waiter to be working this "restaurant" There's no nice view you're just on the top of a hotel parking lot. Drinks were i consistent. Mushroom ricotta flatbread was good and so was the Christmas tree cheese appetizer. We had reservations so didn't feel too bad but overall it was a big miss.

Yelp
Service was good and ambiance was good. The food was seriously lacking. Wife got the rib eye. Let's just say, I have never seen a rib eye that is less then 1/2 thick for 65$. Definately overcooked and at that thickness makes sense. We actually joked that we have a t-bone and NY strip at home in the freezer that are twice as thick and 1/4 the cost. Aside from that it was bland, potatoes were slathered in butter. I got the short rib papperdell. 12 hour braised. We'll that meat was tough and dry. Braised short ribs are great, but when you let them sit and dry out they get very tough. Sauce was good and veggies had the right amount of bite. But unfortunately the star of the dish was a D rate actor. What you see left of the steak in the pic is what was left when we paid no box, no let's take it home. Atleast the service was good.

Yelp
FIVE on the Hill offers a charming outdoor dining experience with a beautiful atmosphere and a great holiday vibe. The decor is festive and thoughtfully designed, making it a perfect spot for enjoying brunch in a relaxed yet lively setting. Located at the Hilton in Universal City, the restaurant boasts an impressive selection of brunch items and cocktails, including fun options like flights of mimosas and margaritas. Reservations were easy to make, and the service was top-notch. Leslie, our server, was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The food, however, was a bit of a letdown considering the prices. I tried the lobster chilaquiles, which unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. The chips were soggy and not to my taste, and the lobster portion was tiny. On the plus side, the espresso martini was fantastic--smooth and flavorful. I also had the lavender mimosa, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The venue is beautiful, but keep in mind that while parking is validated, it still costs nearly $9 to park yourself, which could be a bit steep depending on how long you plan to stay. Overall, FIVE on the Hill is a lovely place for drinks and a casual outing, but I would recommend keeping expectations in check when it comes to the food.

Yelp
Located near universal studios, this restaurant was decorated to match the festive Christmas season. Service was a little slow to start, but picked up and ended up being fine. French toast was delicious and so was the the LA Burrito, which is their take on a traditional wet burrito. The salsa roja side was much better than the salsa verde though. Price was a little on the higher side, which makes sense for the area. Self-parking is available for $8 and valet for $20. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I would come back again.

Yelp
They changed this place since I first came here, bt still a great experience. The quality has stayed the same! Food was still 10/10 Beautiful "outdoor" seating covered with flowers overhead. Great service. Will recommend for any event (girls day/night out, date, group outing, family outing)
google avatar

Sallie R.

Yelp
Such a cute place overlooking the hill. The ceiling was filled with flowers dangling down. So pretty! It's a small restaurant located outside of the Hilton Hotel. Make sure you get parking validation for $8 otherwise will cost you more than that. We had a reservation, but decided to get there early. They were so kind to accommodate us and got seated instantly upon arrival. Service was so quick and efficient. Our server was so nice and friendly. We had ordered the avocado toast and kimchi steak dish. Great tasting, but just thought our meals were overly priced. I have never paid for some avocado toast over $20. It was insane! Was it worth it? I didn't think so, but it was a good experience. We also had the margarita flights which wasn't too bad for the price, but it blew our minds away how yummy and strong it was. Therefore, I can say it was worth it! Overall, we enjoyed it and I would go back for the drinks! Maybe not for the food.

Yelp
I've been dying to come to the IG famous pop up with the lovely floral arrangements. Their theme is seasonal, therefore the scheme is autumn. My work friend & I booked a birthday brunch reservation for last Sunday. We were running late & tried calling but no answer. When we arrived they had already given our table away, but they said that they would get us seated at their earliest convenience. After about 5-10 minutes they sat us under the floral display. We ordered their version of a piña colada which was delightful. I ordered their cayenne chicken and waffles & my friend ordered the Shakshuka. Because we were starving, we ordered truffle fries as a starter. Our server told us that the kitchen was behind, & profusely apologized, and told us our round of drinks & appetizer would be comped. Our fries came out, & they were addictive. Definitely hit the spot. Our entrees came out soon thereafter. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. It was a good serving size. The chicken was crispy, juicy, but needed a touch of salt. The waffle was cooked perfectly. It was thickkk. The savory herb butter on top was a nice touch. My friend's meal wasn't to her liking unfortunately. The egg was barely present in the dish. It's almost like she ate pasta sauce with toast. She was underwhelmed. Our server brought out a complimentary bday tiramisu which was too kind. Pros- beautiful decor, great views, good drinks/food, great customer service, live music, validations (significant discount). Cons- not responsive by phone, & long wait time

Yelp
We had a reservation at 8:00 pm. We did not get seated till almost 9:00 pm. The food comes from the restaurant inside the hotel. We waited about 45 mins for our food and it was mid. The ribeye was so chewy and had no flavor. The mushroom flatbread was not worth $26. The only good thing about the restaurant were the drinks. I definitely would not recommend coming to this restaurant , food is subpar and expensive.

Yelp
Cute Spot, but Be Ready to Wait The place is really cute, and the staff is very friendly. The food was okay and the drinks were good. However, it takes them a while to bring everything to the table. Overall, a good experience!

Yelp
This is an outdoor patio restaurant located next to Cafe Sierra Restaurant on Hilton Hotel property. Self-parking and valet are available. We went for Sunday Brunch to celebrate a birthday and was amazed with all flowers. Beautiful faux flowers throughout gives it an ultra-chic vibe and female appeal. Whole aesthetic is very deliberate for Instagram. On our visit, the place was packed with women. I kind of felt out of place because there were only 2 guys there including myself...lol! Margarita flight that we ordered were well-presented and delicious. Good ol' bread was good, but too oily and soggy for my palette. Both my wife and I got steak mojo, requested medium rare. Mine was cooked to perfection and tender, but hers was chewy and tough. We ended up asking for new one, which they finally got it done right. Portion could be a bit more generous for $34 price tag. Everyone enjoyed the chicken and waffles. Cajun flavor of chicken really compliments the waffle. All in all, good service and drinks. Food was hit or miss. 3.5 Stars

Yelp
I was in yesterday for brunch with my friends. I have to say based on pictures on their instragram I expected more. The decor was nice but the place is small and literaly is a pop up. I know it says that but I didnt expect it to be a setup outside in the parking lot. To start off I ordered Cafe de la olla. And let me tell you, that was not cafe de la olla. It was far from it. I couldn't even drink it. $15 not worth it. I ordered french toast and they were topped with so much mint. I had never seen that. Needless to say I didnt even eat them. Another $20 plus wasted. Honestly the only good thing was the champagne flight. Services was not the best. I kept having to look for a waiter for water. Cute idea, but I would not return.

Yelp
Good vibes, friendly staff, great food and drinks. If that's what you're looking for this is it. My family and I decided to come here for breakfast. We parked in the Hilton parking garage. Then took the elevator up to the main floor. We walked around the conference room until we saw the bar area. Next we went around the bar, out the front door and it was on the left. This is an outside seating restaurant. I signed us in for the next available table. Fifteen minutes later we were seated. It has a beautiful180 view of the city. There was a musician playing songs from the past and present. I had the cayenne chicken and waffles. This is the best most flavorful chicken and waffles I ever had. I ate all of it right there and left no crumbs. My mom had the breakfast Quesadilla. She said it was spicy and good. At some point she started sweating so it had some kick to it. She recommended to get everything on the side. So you can manage the spicy items as you eat it.

Yelp
Five on the Hill looks like an outdoor area that was created during Covid that is well decorated. There is seating on a patio with picnic tables & a bench, banquet tables and umbrellas. There is also a covered area with high top tables and low tables with comfortable chairs. Live music was quite entertaining. Dolce was our server. She was friendly and very attentive. The food and drinks were served fast (our reservations were for 11 AM when they first opened). The employees work hard as they walk back and forth from inside to get the food/drink to the outside to serve. The steak was tender, the potatoes had a strange looking coating but were OK tasting. Quesadilla was yummy, the chicken and waffles, firebird and surf & turf dishes received good reviews from the group.

Yelp
If you've been looking for the perfect spot for a girl's brunch/night out, definitely check out @five_onthehill at @thehill_la right outside @hiltonuniversal ! This hidden gem features beautiful city views overlooking the Hollywood Hills, handcrafted cocktails, live music, beautifully tasteful floral decor, and an impressive menu selection with very reasonable prices. I really liked the cocktails and the sea-cuterie board, which contained an impressive selection of extremely fresh seafood (salmon, yellowtail, tuna sashimi, scallops, caviar, sardines) at an unexpectedly affordable price. However, the diver scallops were unevenly seasoned with a very sour puree, and the ribeye was requested to be medium rare but came blue. Service was very understaffed but nice, and I felt bad for the lone waiter who had to deal with several large parties (one of which sent back their dishes 3 times). You can park in the parking garage under the hotel, and request validation (which will cut the parking to $6). Featured here: west coast sea-cuterie board ribeye steak diver scallops not your average pina colada, ginger jungle juice

Yelp
I'm a bit conflicted about this place. I know they are trying and they seem to be getting better as time passes. Will give them another try again to see if things have improved.

Yelp
Brunch here is great although the speed of service can be challenging. I wonder if they were shortstaffed at the bar, since we didn't get our drinks until well after our entrees were served. The waitress did her best and was very nice, though imho a discount or a comped drink or two would have been appropriate. The Coffee Trio arrives in a stunning vertical display which shows off the espresso martini, hot cocoa, and cafe de la ollo, each drink phenomenal, though the hot cocoa was my personal favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed the cinnamon chai tea latte, made perfectly and soothingly warm. My husband LOVED the Sea-cuterie Board so much he still laments that more restaurants don't offer this. It's a unique standout, wonderfully executed, and any fan of fresh seafood should love it. I finished every last bite of the Cayenne Chicken and Waffles - each element was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The ambiance in the outdoor hanging flower setting is stunning and makes for great photos and Instagrams. And the food and drinks were great. I just wish the speed of the drinks could have matched it - perhaps the managers need to better organize so that the kitchen and waitstaff have what they need to better execute.

Yelp
Meh. The venue is lovely. It overlooks the city with its beautiful lights. The Christmas decor was festive. The food was mid at best but priced as fine dining. I ordered the blueberry lavender sparkling wine which was surprisingly flavorless until I was about halfway through and realized that most of the syrup was at the bottom of the glass. Then it was too sweet. Bummer! The shrimp cocktail was strange. That's the most accurate way I can describe it. First of all the cocktail sauce was gelled. No exaggeration. It was gelled. I couldn't tell if this was an attempt to be different and fancy (after all the shrimp cocktail was topped with micro greens which was new to me and so unnecessary) or if it was old. Eek! The shrimp were large which was nice but definitely lacked the firm texture of high quality fresh shrimp. They were the texture of the ones you get in the $19.99 premade frozen tray in your grocery store. Just meh. The entree I ordered was even more confusing. It was listed as lobster scampi but was covered in sliced red chilies. WTHeck?! I removed those and the dish was just boring. It didn't have the wine, butter and garlic profile of scampi. It was angel hair, lobster and tomatoes floating in a broth. There was a good amount of lobster and it was perfectly cooked though. So there's that. We ordered the s'mores fondue which was listed as including "burnt marshmallows." What was brought to our table was plain, unheated marshmallows from a bag with some strawberries, graham crackers, bread pretzels (unsalted) and melted chocolate. At first the waiter said the menu didn't say the marshmallows would be toasted. Then I showed him the menu and he apologized and went to ask what happened. Ultimately he didn't charge us for the dish which was nice as we ate just the strawberries. Would I come here again? Only if someone really wanted to. That someone will probably be my sister who enjoyed her lobster scampi but "because it doesn't taste like scampi at all" and didn't order a drink or appetizer. She felt the same way I did about the dessert but wants to try the brunch here. I won't protest. But I won't be sad if she forgets.

Yelp
We just had brunch there today and our waiter was NOT friendly, very disgruntled! First we had a 1030 reservation with Open Table and this guy (i forgot his name but he is Indian) said the website is not updated and they actually open at 1100! But who's fault is that?!!! and instead of saying we're not open but I can seat you, he had this dismissive demeanor and not welcoming at all! The food was GREAT!! but he definitely ruined the name of the restaurant! They also should've more heaters coz it was chilly!!

Yelp
Ambience = 5 stars, can't say enough about the place. Gorgeous. Seating was nice. Food = 3 stars. My lobster Benedict was great, the waffles my table got to share were raw on the inside. My friends eggs were uncooked. The drinks were fine but very expensive and my friend got the bottomless that didn't get refilled often enough. Service = 1 star. We had reservations and it took an hour for us to be seated. It took 30 minutes for us to get our food order and my friends bottomless was refilled twice in 2 hours. The restaurant is technically a Parklet in a parking lot while all drinks and food is run out from the inside of the hotel. Probably why everything was so slow. Our server was perfectly nice, but again super slow. All in all, not a bad time. BUT it was way too expensive for what we got. It was fine for once, but won't be back.

Yelp
This pop up is located on the Hilton property close to Universal studios. My friend and I were looking for a floral esthetic restaurant. We enjoyed the frito misto and the Westcoast Sea-Cuterie. My fav items on the Sea-cuterie were the sashimi fish, seaweed salad, marinated boquerones (cooked and vinegar-macerated anchovies). The fried platter had a lot of soft shell crab. I found that the cod, calamari, & veggies were tasty. The batter was seasoned well. I also appreciate the great service, Sun Goddess wine, and the beautiful sunset. I liked that they had a lot of seafood on their menu and that it was prepared in a unique manner. The food quality was a 4/5. I should have requested a better table so I could see more of the sunset.( we were at a low table my back was facing the views :( they had high tops open that were positioned better.) I do recommend coming here for the views & drinks. Cheers!!!

Yelp
I got lost finding this place. I should've known that it was at the Hilton. Finding the entrance to the Hilton can be challenging. Finding the parking lot is just as challenging. Finally, Five on the Hill is difficult to find from the parking structure. I had to ask the lady at the jewelery store who gave me a blank stare. Thankfully, the valet heard me and pointed outside and to the left. The funny thing is another person asked him where Five on the Hill was. This is a definite problem! The restaurant is small but there was plenty of seating. The decor is phenomenonal. They change out the faux flowers seasonally. This seasons theme is harvest. I came for the view and had a great view of the pool below. One thing that stands out here is the service. We were asked by several staff members if everything was OK. The chef sent a complimentary tasting of the corn bread. It was very good. We got 2 of their happy hour items, mushroom truffle flatbread, and truffle fries. They were both so good! There were plenty of fries to garlic and parmesan ratio. The mushroom flatbread was very filling. We also got the lobster pasta dish. There were thick chunks of lobster! The sauce wasn't a marinara sauce but something similar. It was good. I was very happy with everything I ordered. I'm glad I asked if they validate parking because it's $15 per hour. They must only validate one hour because I owed $8 at the gate.

Yelp
the atmosphere is nice and aesthetic, the mocktail i had was mango madness and it was good and refreshing the service was a bit slow but over all the waiter was nice. i ordered the lobster scampi and garlic truffle fries. the fries were regular fries i didn't taste much truffle, the lobster scampi lacked flavor and i also found a hair in it, i told the waiter and he was kind enough to substitute it for me and so i got the coppe deville which was a crispy chicken. im gonna be honest the food was okay the chicken was just fried with some veggie garnish on top. it looks very nice on the outside but the food was mid for what u pay for. would i come back again? no i wouldnt but it was a cute 1st experience.

Yelp
Trendy floral pop-up restaurant and bar at the Hilton Universal. Such a great place to experience for date night, or to celebrate with the girls! Lots of beautiful photo ops and yummy flavorful food to try. Make your reservation now before this experience ends. Lots of different food and drink options. The sea-cuterie was unique and fun to try, the baklava baked brie was amazing! My daughter loved the surf n' turf. Check out the photos and videos.

Yelp
Food I had steak. Asked medium. Some of it seemed pretty much raw while other parts extremely well done. Other party had chicken and waffles she liked them oh by the way somehow some bits of chicken ended up on my plate. Drinks -- small and weak Service. Slow even passed us up twice when asked for water. So not so good and our waitress disappeared from after taking order until time to leave. Hostess had an atitude plenty of empty tables but we had to wait as were reserved. Entire time we were there at least five of those tables had no one sit at them And one group of 3 was there before us and I dont want to say there was some discrimination going on but we were seated before them which didn't seem fair to me I think was based on their appearance. Id almost give it one star and probably should. Overpriced bot cooked correctly served badly. Ignored likely wont be back again For the average person stay away

Yelp
This place is super cute with very girly vibes. For a pop up spot it's done pretty nicely. The food was amazing but overpriced but it was still delicious. They had live music which was very cool. Our servers were very nice to us. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Since it was a winter I had to go check out their Jingle Bell Tavern pop up! As always this restaurant was decked out with beautiful festive winter decor perfect for taking photos with your friends. The appetizers for this season was very good and presented so cute !The server we had was very kind, I feel like they always had really great servers!

Yelp
Parking is easy, you follow Hilton self parking and head to the front of Hilton where the restaurant is to the right of the entrance. Views are nice, easier to see when you're a party of two, and are able to get seating along the side. Service was great, very attentive for our party of 7. We ordered several items, the best being the truffle fries which were extra garlicky. Would recommend any of the cocktails from the bar menu.

Yelp
We went for the springtime pop-up and it was cute seeing the flowers everywhere. However, it was a little underwhelming from what we expected. Our server was nice and we have no complaints on that. The food was your average brunch food, so it definitely felt overpriced (but I guess that's what you're paying for with the pop-up). We had chicken and waffles and had a coffee drink flight. After a while it seemed like the whipped cream was just getting chunky. We did actually enjoy our truffle fries and they were delicious! We probably wouldn't go back given the price point and overall experience but it was nice to say we tried it!

Yelp
Service was great but food was not that good. Could not eat Carbonara found it inedible. Caesar wedge salad was ok though and Good ol bread was a nice starter.

Yelp
I am looking forward to coming back here for brunch and really hoping it adds another star to my review! I was obsessed with the floral & fun atmosphere. The drinks, service, and overall vibe were equally as wonderful. I came here for my friend's birthday and they did a great job at hosting a group. I would definitely come back for a birthday or special occasion. Now where one star fell off...I ordered the "Surf and Turf" which was described as a lobster roll with filet mignon. I was thinking interesting..so I ordered it. I was thinking it was going to be a lobster roll (like a bread roll). When I received, it I was shocked to see a lobster sushi roll wrapped in raw filet. I was even more shocked that I just paid $38 for one sushi roll. I feel like unique dishes should be communicated by the waiter when ordered. It was a delicious roll but definitely not something I would order again. Everything else was amazing. The drink flights are so fun and special. Their brunch looks yummy and fun. I am excited to return and hopefully boost my rating. But for such an "instagrammable" spot, it is worth the hype!

Yelp
I went during the Christmas and the decor was amazingly done! We did the fireplace tables which set such a nice ambiance. The ladies at front hostess and our waitress were so nice and went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. We had the Christmas tree cheese with crackers, espresso martini, chile relleno and dessert with the dipped strawberries that were sooooo delicious! WELL DONE FIVE ON THE HILL :)

Yelp
Very cute spot to brunch or maybe even date Night me and the girls went here for a brunch and things were a little bit different than I expected, but still good presentation, be aware that the flowers change with the season so from the videos I saw and TikTok, the flowers were different, which were still very pretty. The service was amazing, the host were friendly and welcoming. The wait time was a little bit of nothing. It is reservation based so please make sure to make the reservation and also remember you have a 10 minute grace period. I ordered the chicken and waffles and all I can say is 10 out of 10 the waffle was just enough not too sweet and the chicken had a very Distinct taste that gave off spicy but yet sweet altogether just amazing. I would definitely go back again maybe for their dinner this time . I did love how they had live music. Be ready to pay for valet parking which I believe was $20. They do have self parking, but if there is a walk, don't have any complaints . But to go And see yourself

Yelp
Went here brunch, Surf and Turf Omelette, Chicken & Waffles, French Toast, or the Steak & Eggs. All very good! Service was great! Ask for Greg. He's a Bears fan, but his team is not a reflection of his professionalism. Hahaha.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with some friends and so glad we did. We enjoyed their new holiday menu which featured really fun holiday themed dishes. Get the Christmas tree drink trio for some fun drinks and photos.

Yelp
Decided to celebrate my sisters birthday dinner here on a beautiful Saturday evening. Beautiful outdoor restaurant with patio covering for weather issues and bugs loved that. Our server was such a sweetheart in making sure our needs were met. For starters the table received complimentary jalapeño cornbread that was delicious with just the right amount of jalapeño yet not too much to overwhelm the sensation of the cornbread. Our group ordered the Good ole bread and it was delightful. A wonderful medley of olive oil and chimmichuri type marinade and ooey gooey cheese surely a great way to start off the night before your meal. A friend of ours ordered the carbonara and according to him it was authentic yet simple which made for a great true to Italian culture dish. 9/10 The birthday girl ordered the ribeye with scalloped potatoes and broccoli she was pleased with the sear and the cook (though she asked for well done) hahaha I ordered the filet and lobster with mashed potatoes and broccolini. I was honestly underwhelmed the mashed potatoes were cold and my steak which I asked for medium rare/ medium was more along the medium well side. However the lobster was terrible, it was undercooked and chewy with no flavor. Even with me asking for drawn butter which they didn't provide until the very last minute couldn't bring it to life (no pun intended). Another 2 in our party ordered the filet both well done with mashed and broccolini. Unfortunately the kitchen for our order didn't posses a consistent cohesive flow. 1 of the filets was to our tables liking as it was prepared just right and another one of our friends entire plate was particularly cold through and through. For dessert, Because it was her birthday we received a complimentary amuse bouche of sweet treats and they were delightful. She also ordered the bread pudding and it was to die for ! Overall it was a nice experience. The view was great. The food was up and down but the entire ambiance, atmosphere and vibe of the place is definitely a reason to come experience it again.

Yelp
What a scam. We came here because of TikTok, but it was disappointing. It's basically a parking lot, not the scenic place you expect. My wife made a reservation and asked for a view, but the good views are only for tables of 2, not 4. I wish I had checked the reviews before coming. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the service and food were okay, but they definitely fool you with their marketing. Good job on that.

Yelp
I had the prime filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was delicious . I also ordered the wine tasting which came out super fast and the selection was great. Our server was patient and brought out orders out in a timely manner. The seating area was really pretty under a flower covered area and they had patio seating as well. I would recommend checking this place out seems like a great brunch spot as well.

Yelp
We had reservation and still waited 30 min, the host told us they overbook to keep business going ‍ I got french toast which was very delicious but still think it was overpriced ($28). My friend got avocado toast, she said it was ok. Ambiance was good, too trendy on social media but in reality it was just ok.

Yelp
Super cute outdoor pop up. Went in September and then again in December. Decorated with Autumn decor in Sept and Christmas decor in Dec. So pretty. The Manger today took care of us by moving us in to the inner area where the roof was cover in pretty greens and ornaments. Food was delicious. . There is either valet towards the front of the hotel or self parking at the underground garage for the hotel. $8+ with validation for a few hours.

Yelp
Located right by Universal Studios and the Universal CityWalk, Five on the Hill is a gem connected to the Sheraton Hotel. The restaurant shares the bar with the Sheraton, which means you're in for some excellent drinks! The ambiance is charmingly outdoorsy, with open doors and windows, so be prepared for a bit of chill on cooler days. We sat at tables with a fire pit in the center, which really added to the warmth and ambiance. The vibe here is fun and unique, almost like a pop-up event. The night we visited, they had spring flowers hanging from the ceiling, creating a stunning visual effect. There's also a British-style phone booth perfect for those Instagram moments. The view is a mixed bag; you get a primary view of the parking lot, but beyond that, there's a lovely vista of the valley and mountains, especially beautiful at sunset. The food presentation was unique and added to the overall experience. The dishes were very good, and the cocktails were equally impressive. It's the kind of place where you see someone else's drink and think, "I want that!" Service was excellent, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Yelp
A stunning floral pop up at an elevated outdoor cocktail bar and restaurant. FIVE on the Hill is located at Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City. The ambiance is very spring, bright and fresh. Although it may be cold for outdoor dining at night, there are heaters all around. Tony was our server and he was amazing! He had a friendly personality and gave us some great recommendations. To start off, we got their shrimp cocktail and 1/2 order of the westcoast sea-cuterie board. This colorful platter includes tuna, hamachi, salmon, scallop, anchovies, caviar, and crackers. Great for sharing and for those who like seafood! For veggies, get their brussels sprouts. It's crispy and well seasoned. For entrees, we went with the rib eye steak (huge, tender, and juicy) and the Mediterranean sea bass (not dry and citrusy). Both were amazing! For drinks, we got their popular margarita flight and the como la flor. Both were so pretty! We ended our meal with a hazelnut chocolate pie and key lime pie. My favorite was the key lime pie. Presentation was nice and their decorations were captivating. The staffs are professional and customer service is great. I would re-visit for brunch!

Yelp
Food, drinks, and ambiance make this an Instagrammer's dream restaurant. Holiday decor and photo ops galore, paired with an exquisite holiday menu, make this a must-stop for LA holiday bucket lists. Unfortunately, I did wait 30 minutes for our cocktails and 60 minutes for our entrees. Less than ideal for the price point & fine dining atmosphere. However, manager Miguel Martinez showed EXCEPTIONAL customer service by truly understanding our concerns and adjusting our bill for us. His demeanor leads me to believe FIVE on the Hill does care about the customer experience, and providing a remedy for less than satisfactory ones. Very impressive! Other than that, the menu and experience is absolutely worth the price point and I will be returning for the next change in theme!

Yelp
Five on the Hill is a hidden gem! The views are absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is relaxed yet upscale. We enjoyed a delicious meal--everything from the appetizers to the mains was top-notch. The cocktails were refreshing and perfectly crafted. Whether you're looking for a casual bite or a special night out, this place hits all the right notes. Highly recommend for both the food and the breathtaking views!

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday here recently and if you are looking for a restaurant with a vibe then look no further. Our server was super sweet and patient and we felt really welcomed. The food prices are on par with what it costs to eat out in Los Angeles where a salad is $24 and pasta $30. They have great prices on their champagne and margarita flights for around $22 per flight. Everyone was very happy with their food selection and the chocolate mousse dessert was a hit. They have live music in the patio in the early evenings and parking is valet for $12.
