We were thrilled to find the only Keralite restaurant in Orlando, tucked inside the mall apna bazaar— and what a hidden gem it is! The food was absolutely authentic, flavorful, and comforting, just like a meal back home in Kerala. From the rich aroma of the spices to the perfect balance in every curry, you could taste the love in every bite. The ghee roast, porotta, beef fry, appam with kadala curry and even the sambhar were all spot-on. Truly a treat for anyone missing home-cooked Kerala food. What made the experience even more special was the owner’s warmth and hospitality. He welcomed us like family and ensured we were well taken care of. A must-visit if you’re in Orlando and craving Kerala cuisine. Delicious food, heartfelt service, and a taste of home — all under one roof.

My husband and I tried this food for the first time at Apna Bazaar. We got their chicken samosa, onion bhaji, chicken tikka masala and cheese with potato dosa. And I have to say that all of them are delicious! They pair it with tamarind sauce which compliments the dishes. They do not dissapoint us. We highly recommend it and will come back again!

Ordered chicken biryani from here via DoorDash. Pretty sure the chicken is refried from yesterday. Do you guys have respect for your customers health?

We consistently receive outstanding customer service from this establishment. The staff always presents smiling faces, and serves appetizing food. I'm truly a huge fan of their food selection. Everything is so flavorful and satisfying. I couldn't ask for better cuisine. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family.

Over the past year, I've tried Kerala cuisine at various Indian and Kerala restaurants in the US, but my experience at this particular restaurant was outstanding. Despite its modest size, its name 'Five Star' is a testament to the consistently excellent food. The owner, hailing from Chalakudy in Kerala, was extremely cordial and even offered a complimentary plate of Parippuvada due to a slight wait for freshly prepared dishes. The Fish Curry, Beef Roast, Appam, and Kappa were all delightful. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic South Indian cuisine.

Manga Varshitha Reddy

Google
Ordered Chicken Biryani, Chicken Chettinad and naan, nothing was good. Food taste was horrible. Whatever they are serving as biryani isn’t even biryani. It is plain rice mixed with chicken curry. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

Shibin Ayikal

Google
Chicken biryani had that infamous pineapple essence taste. Kingfish fry doesn't taste fresh. Chilli chicken was very bad, too oily and sweet. Beef fry was good. Service was good

This little Kerala restaurant in Orlando near the major roads of 528 and turnpike is absolutely a gem located inside Apna bazaar building with variety of Kerala appetizers and lot of delicious malayaly favorite dishes such as Kappa and fish curry, porotta and beef roast/fry, chicken fried rice, appam and egg curry to name a few. Authentic taste and fast service. The owner is really a nice person and he does an excellent job with his customers serving great quality food all the time! We drive 1 hour and 15 mins just to eat from this place that's how tasty the food items are. I would recommend anyone to try this place if you are in the area.

Yelp
South Indian food, in Orlando you guys!!! What are the odds. Saw this pop into my yelp search and my daughter and I had to try it. Highly recommend the following - Kappa and Fish curry Parathas Vadas Appams Beef Roast Pompano fry My mouth was watering looking at the menu.

Yelp
Came for the Moroccan but saw this South Indian booth next door and have been craving goat curry for years since I line in central Florida. The goat was good. Curry very flavorful but I can taste the oils in it prominently. I had the best buffet while on a cruise that stopped in kerala so was happy to see it next to Moroccan. $15.99 comes with rice and had a freshly made mango lassi. Wish o came with a friend and ordered more items like the masala dosa and veggies. Curry tasted very authentically kerala.

Yelp
Definitely an interesting place to park (at certain times, you'll see what I mean) and a journey to check out the indoor stores, grocery store and 3 food shops in a food court type of atmosphere . One was a Pakistani meat grille, the other was a Moroccan tangine couscous place. You order at the counter and pick up when it's ready after a short time, Most people seemed to take away. The paper dosa was crisp, the sambar was flavorful and spiced right. The puttu kadala.... The beans had a spice I didn't care for: the puttu was moist and went welll of course with the kadala; I would come back and try again.

Praveen B.

Yelp
It's a good thing I read one of the prior reviews and saw that this place was inside the grocery store food court, else I would have certainly missed it. On the food front we weren't too impressed. The fried rice had a smell to it. The portion was huge, but we ended up throwing away most of it. The gobi 65 was missing something - besides the chutneys. The paneer tikka masala was so-so. The paratha was nice and flaky. Probably ordered the wrong items at this South Indian restaurant. Service was done with the smile. The folks working there was polite and helpful.

Salil J.

Yelp
For ethnic South Indian food, I'd say this place is No.1 in Central Florida. The meat cutlets, appams, puttu, egg curry, chickpeas curry- all awesome.

Rajendran A.

Yelp
Great value for money and it tastes fantastic. Ordered pompano and loved it. Every item is reasonably priced, quantity is readable and tastes great. Skip all Indian restaurants and just go here.

Akhil C.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in this area. Their parippu vada(dhal vada) is one of the best I ever had and I had lot of them back in Kannur. Don't miss it if you are ever in Orlando. Their kerala specialties are really good. Friendly staff too. Don't miss it.

Yelp
They have best Indian snacks like samosa cutlet bhajiya and even much more its perfect for South Indian cuisine must visit

Yelp
When we dined at Waffle House couple of days ago, we noticed a large market nearby. We ventured inside to discover a Kerala cuisine restaurant. Stroke of luck. We told ourselves that we would return, and we did. There are 3 restaurants in this cafe style setup. Moroccan, Kerala and a Halal meat Desi restaurant. All 3 restaurants share seating. We placed our order at Five Star South Indian. The lady taking our order was very sweet. We requested Ian's rava dosa order to be prepared right away and she obliged. There were tables available so we went and seated ourselves. Our orders started arriving one after another. Ian got his Dosa first. So he was a happy camper. What we ordered Kappa with Fish Curry Puttu Kadala Rava Dosa Paratha Dal Vada Appam Sweet Lassi. Chai (to go) Total with taxes and tip came to $45.80. We had lot of leftover food. Price is of very good value. Portions are very good for the price. Table beside us ordered Biriyani and we could not help but glance at their plate. Portion on Biriyani was huugggge! Appam was melt in your mouth. I paired it with the gravy in Fish curry and it made for extremely delectable eats! (+1) Fish curry. I normally eat only Fried or grilled fish for fear of bones. *It is a long story that I can share over an old fashioned if you are that curious* The fish curry at this restaurant had 2 pieces of fish. Fish was cooked adequately so I was able to scoop away the 3 or 4 small pieces of bone in each piece. Once I did that, I was able to eat the fish like an appetizer. The curry was mild but marinated the fish during cooking. I recommend the fish curry with appam if you do not know what to order from here. (+1) Ian loved his Rava Dosa. The crunchy to soft part ratio of the Dosa was to his liking. There was no green chillies in the batter. That was to the Mrs. liking as Ian cannot handle spicy stuff. (+1) Kappa is a dish that I had not tried at any Indian restaurants before. It was almost like Potato Fry. The portion of Kappa provided was too much to eat by myself. The starch in this vegetable filled up my tummy too fast. Since I saw it on the menu, I had to try it. Now that I did, I will not order this dish again. If it was a side dish at a buffet, I would not mind trying it out in small portions. All the Mrs. wanted to try was the Puttu Kadala. She had nostalgia with each bite of the rice. Her neighbor (Keralite) back in the day used to share it with the Mrs. family whenever she made it. The taste at Five Star reminded her of that. Nice! (+2) Paratha was good. Vada was good. Ginger Chai was good. Sweet Lassi did its trick quenching my thirst after eating the Kappa. All in all, we were super happy that we stopped by here. The food was really good. I think we will be back before our vacation ends. I recommend trying out this restaurant for Authentic Kerala food and a home made Indian food experience. *Review # 100 in 2019*

Yelp
Located in the food court of an Indian superstore, this fast food counter delivered everything I hoped it would...authentic Indian done quickly and affordably. I'm not a novice to this cuisine but I was overwhelmed by options, many of which I'd never heard of before...so I went with a basic standard chicken tikka masala, so I could sit there and google the rest of the menu for next time! (It was delicious btw). Gotta knock some stars off for service. I came in well before the posted closing time, but was rushed and even straight up told "we're trying to close" by the young lady. I've never experienced a local ethnic place more worried about closing than sharing their food and culture. Was a little off putting. I'm willing to give them another shot to see if they're a little more hospitable next time, but if not, there's two equally delicious looking options less then 75 feet either direction!

Yelp
Really great dosas and indian dishes. Very authentic. Tip: It is located in the food court in the back of the supermarket (Don't turn left when you walk through the doors, just walk straight to the back). I've had the chicken basmati now, the dosas, and the chicken curry, all of which have been very flavorful. I do wish the standard dosa order came with some sort of curry dipping sauce instead, similar to what I've had abroad, but it could just be a regional difference since they serve a green sauce a soup mixture with the dosas. (I'm not of indian descent so please excuse my Americanized terms). The curry chicken was also a little greasy, but nevertheless, very flavorful. Nevertheless, a solid joint to satisfy my Indian craving.

Yelp
Hole in the wall place, but delivers on taste and quality. Had aappam, fish curry, puttu, kadalaikari, dosa, rava dosa and chicken 65. Everything was good though chicken 65 needed some more salt but it was closing time so I understand they rushed it to close the kitchen. Woke up hungry next morning which indicates its tummy friendly. Would come back again.

Yelp
We ordered goat curry, appam, kappa and fish curry, and few others. The food was the best Kerala-origin food that I have had in US.

Soumya C.

Yelp
Seriously the food here is a torture...spoiled my day. Who cooks biryani instantly with half boiled rice and chkn cutlet was full of smashed potato...no taste at all ...

Yelp
It's good for South Indian food... this is relatively better than other restaurants in and around orlando

clive m.

Yelp
Food is amazing and delicious! Generous portions. Service is also good. It's in a food court but it's clean and quiet. Never a disappointment. Mango lassi is also very good. Just wish they weren't closed on Mondays.

J T.

Yelp
Yummy Kerala (Indian - Malayali) food, reasonable price and good location. Staff is friendly, Anytime we are in the area, we stop by and order food from here.

Susan T.

Yelp
Awesome food! Authentic Kerala food. Casual setting in food court. Nice variety and decent prices. Will def visit again!!!

Yelp
We started with the Masala Dosa. It was fantastic, and one reason is because the time from griddle to your hand is merely seconds. Plus it is just plain flavorful. Another great dish is the Channa Masala. Great flavor and right at the top of my spice (heat) tolerance. We have gone over the top on heat when my wife ordered Chili Chicken. We are anxious to try more dishes.
google avatar

Manojna K.

Yelp
I go here on a weekly basis! Most of the dishes have very authentic taste! The dosas are a must! I have tried thier chana masala, shrimp masala, chetinad chicken, fish fry which were all delicious! Highly recommend if you are south indian and looking for an authentic indian place!

Jessica H.

Yelp
Goo authentic tasting food. Took a while to prepare but once we got it was really good. It's inside a market type place. It has a store where you can by Indian/Asian items. We got 3 different meals and naan and they were all very good. 2 people got a mango lassie and they were just ok.
google avatar

Amp R.

Yelp
We stopped by this place on our way to Gatorland. Great food, reasonable prices.

Yelp
This was such a good find. It's so hard to find Keralite/Malyalee food in Indian restaurants. We were in town for a medical conference and I yelped Kerala food and found this. The owner is very friendly and kind. We live in Hawaii and good Indian food, let alone Keralite food is hard to come by. My colleagues were blown away by the ghee roast (delicious) and I almost cried when I ate the Kerala porotas and beef olathu. Definitely coming back if I'm in Orlando again
google avatar

Adriana D.

Yelp
We just had some Vegetable and Chicken Samosas, Channa Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan bread. It was all super delicious and super fast. Owner was very friendly and the whole food court area gave us such an inviting and good vibe. Will ALWAYS stop here if I'm passing by Orlando.

Cosmic_2play S.

Yelp
The food was utterly atrocious I've never had such disgusting food in my whole life I've never eaten in such a dirty place before I would rather eat out of my cousin's butthole if I could rate this place lower I would.
google avatar

Britney L.

Yelp
I love coming here. Great indian food, even for those who are not accustomed to indian food. The butter chicken, garlic naan & Mango Lassi are my go to! Also the Dosa Doner is also a favorite of mine. All food is freshly made. This is a great spot for beginner and advanced indian food eaters.
google avatar

Pallavi N.

Yelp
Very authentic taste. A must try place. We had dosa and idli. The sambhar was really awesome, tastes very similar to what I used to eat back in Kerala. Giving 4 stars because the ambience could've been better and also the tables could've been more cleaner.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
They made the best dosa! The cheese dosa is my favorite. This is authentic South Indian food, not the typical Indian food that is identical at most Indian restaurants. Biryani is very good. Beef curry is amazing. Everything is good honestly.

Dar P.

Yelp
No cleanliness in shred space where you eat. Extremely friendly staff, food is not that great. Just OK
google avatar

Madeline K.

Yelp
This place has the BEST vegetable samosas I've ever had. The women behind the counter was extremely kind and gave me some the best tamarind chutney and mint chutney I've ever tasted. I will be going back again. I cannot wait to try more items! Highly recommended and can promise the spice, heat, fresh ingredients and flavor will exceed your expectations.

Matt A.

Yelp
Just one of the very BEST Restaurants in Orlando or in the USA. All my old favorites from my earlier YELP posts are just as amazing, as ever; but, some of the newer Items I would like to tout are the Kingfish Fry, Chicken Roast, Onion Uthappam and the Vadas. Try this Restaurant with its very exotic and delicious dishes and just order the items, as Mild, Medium or Hot; and, the Master Chef, Joseph will make these ttp your level of spiciness. I'd go with Mild initially. JUST ENJOY!!
google avatar

Niki H.

Yelp
Such an unexpected gem! The dosa was sooo fresh, really flavorful, and could be modified for spice preference. The staff was very helpful in giving us their recommendations and preferences.
google avatar

Kiran N.

Yelp
Had awesome Kerala food after a long day at Disney World. Found this place on Yelp. And was worth the Uber ride to it. My family had puttu kadala, masala dosa, idiyappam, kappa, fish curry made with kudampuli and the secret dish for malayalees, Beef olathiyathu! Everything was authentic and tasty. Also they accommodated special dietary constraints. Being from salt lake city, Utah, where there are no Kerala restaurants, this place was a prayer answered. It is located inside Apna Bazaar, so search for that on Google maps.
google avatar

Manish N.

Yelp
This is the best South Indian food I had in a lon long time. We were served fresh medu vada..something which I haven't had any where in USA(mind you it was 8.30 pm) The rava dosa was as crisp as expected and tasted amazing. It was the perfect golden brown crisp dosa which again is rare to find..all this at an affordable price. Completely worth it. I'd come back here again when I pass Orlando..
google avatar

Stacey R.

Yelp
I had the butter chicken and it was very good along with garlic naan-. Not high class at all but good food

Mahadevan S.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! It's at the back of an Indian grocery store building. For the 4 days we were in Orlando, we ate from here every single day. Everything on the menu was great. The taste brought me back memories of authentic South Indian food I had relished during my childhood. Must try if you are in the area.

Paul D.

Yelp
A hole in the wall that is hard to find but very much worth the effort. The proprietor was very friendly and made some suggestions. I had chicken curry medium spice with rice and the garlic naan. It was served in paper dishes and bowls with plastic silverware, my kind of place. The food was marvelous and quickly served. I will definitely return when I am next in Orlando.
google avatar

N R.

Yelp
Ok .. I am from Kerala India.. And have been looking for a place like this since 2000 when I moved to orlando. This place is simply awesome I had the kappa fish curry, the Dal vada and my wife had putttu and kadala.. The taste of everything we ate was authentically keralite. Everything is fairly priced too Simply love the food here.. To go we are having the chicken biriyani.. Should be good since I have tasted the biriyani made by the person who runs this place twice before(when he catered) All that said, the food here should suit the palette of anybody, imho Extremely glad I found a place like this at last

Sherin C.

Yelp
Lol I should've known when the guy asked if the number of dishes are enough for us to eat! We've ordered 2 orders of beef fry and received 2 24oz take-out containers with less than 10oz of beef in each. Also ordered Porotta which were basically frozen items reheated! After paying close to a 100 bucks for 30 or 40 bucks of food, and being a person who's in the restaurant business, this is truly disappointing and such a shame!
google avatar

Frank L.

Yelp
I brought two friends who are India. For a place inside the mall, they love it. The food is pretty authentic.
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
Should have taken a pic! I ate it all before I thought of it! Not much for ambience but such good food!!
google avatar

Barbara W.

Yelp
Amazing food!!! Amazing prize, had the curry chicken and butter chicken with basmati rice and naan bread.
google avatar

Vijay G.

Yelp
One of the best Indian food I ever had. Quality food, very tasty, healthy items and nice chef!!
google avatar

Scott T.

Yelp
This place is the real thing. Don't be deceived by the strip mail setting. Seven of the eight of us had been to India, and could attest to this being very high-end. Also, don't mess in that same little section, is a great juice place and chat. In the international Indian market is just incredible. Striking to see this kind of thing here in Orlando but quite a lovely surprise. Enjoy it all!
google avatar

Sreelal S.

Yelp
Really awesome Kerala food ever I had at South Indian restaurants in USA. I ordered kappa and fish curry two portions each for one for today and one for some other days. When I try one, felt like so tasty and I couldn't able to control me . I finished the other too Really it's great
google avatar

Krishnan M.

Yelp
Hands down best restaurant in Orlando! Try Kerala specialties. You'll get most authentic Indian food here unlike other Indian restaurants that adjust taste for local people.
google avatar

Tom J.

Yelp
This restuarent is one of the best indian restuarents in orlando.we feel like we are in our home.the owner of the restaurant Mr Joseph is such a nice person more than that he is a very good chef...and the food their is very cheap.after visiting this restuarent i dont like any other restaurants in orlando.5 star is the best

Kyogen K.

Yelp
The curry is oily and the lady over there is so rude. Im never going back there again. No respect for their costumer.

P M.

Yelp
This is the REAL deal! Authentic South Indian place. It was such an amazing find! Was at Orlando on a 2 day visit and visited twice during this period. The sambar is AUTHENTIC! I dont remember the last time that i had such amazing flavorful sambar. Awesome Dosas! The BEST South Indian food that i have tried in a REALLY long time :)
