"A new sports bar named Five 55 is now open at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Monterey Park. The open, bright space includes multiple viewing options from small rooms to the bar to the main dining area, with comfort food like burgers, bao, and hot dogs (plus a full slate of wine, beer, and cocktails) from former H.Wood Group chef Austin Lee." - Farley Elliott

I came here because of an event from Yelp (Y.E.S. event), but the catering was done by this Sports Bar. The vibes are great. The TVs are always displaying the sporting event of the night. The food is awesome. Everyone at the bar, and even the server/food runner Ryan were providing top-notch service. Highly recommended. The Sports Bar is inside a hotel lobby but they do parking validation at the bar with a purchase (also, parking is underground, but very spacious and good).

Five55 is located inside the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Monterey Park. During our stay at the hotel, we stopped in for some late night appetizers and drinks. This is advertised as a bar and restaurant, and we sat over by the bar. The night we came, there was a large event with really loud kids. I didn’t mind at all but was just surprised to see kids near the bar. We ordered Garlic Parmesan Truffle Fries and Short Rib Quesadillas. The quesadillas looked dry but I was surprised they tasted really good. The meat was actually juicy. It was served with small sides of guacamole and pico de gallo. Wish it came with a side of sour cream but it was fine as is. Our server was really cool and checked up on us often to make sure our needs were met. Overall, really satisfied with the convenience of having this bar stay open late hours without having to leave our hotel.

The onion rings and tater tots appetizers were just what we asked for. They were delicious. The drinks were a hit and miss due to personal tastes for our party. But most tasted well from the Moscow mule and Japanese old fashioned to a dark beer my brother said tasted great.

Google
Nice bar in the Courtyard Marriott. You have to walk through the Chef Tony restaurant to get to the bar, which is completely separate. We came during happy hour and the food and drinks were great. Service was spot on too. I’ll definitely come back sometime.

Google
Decent lounge/restaurant to stop by on your way home after a long week. Happy hour offers good tasting cocktails-not flat. The food selection offers plenty of choices to satisfy any picky eater, like me. Plenty of parking underground, which they validate.

Google
To find this restaurant you have to go past Chef Tony. It is a nice place with TVs showing the games playing. I got the Spicy Tune Tartar and my husband got the impossible burger. Both dishes were good and the Spicy Tuna Tartar was not that spicy just had a bit of heat to it. The Tuna was like eating a huge piece of sushi. The atmosphere was great and our server took the time to tell us what our options were. Overall a great experience! Would go again.

What could go wrong? One must always ask this, when eating at a hotel restaurant. I did not want to order cold delivery and I did not want to wander out. So I gave Five 55 a try. . . Boy am I glad I did. The smash burger smashed my taste buds with pure beefy bliss. The bun added to the taste and was not an after thought. I went for the double! Now for the Cobb salad. Such a simple thing, yet it is often bland and past it’s best by date. The croutons appear to be house made, the ranch was creamy and flavorful. All the ingredients were very refreshing. I came for just food and had my expectations exceeded.

Google
The staff is friendly and very accommodating. They are always checking in and there is never any pressure. The atmosphere is very chill. I love their happy hour loaded tater tots, their brussel sprouts, and sweet potato fries (if you like thin crispy fries). I have yet to find an item I don't like.

Yelp
Good service and food was delicious. Tried the Salmon, Steak, Truffle Fries and an IPA. Server was attentive and love the atmosphere at this place! Good for dinner or to just grab a few drinks at the bar. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
4 orders for dinner 3 dinners served 0 times server checked back 2 times we waived for service 3 times we were told "they're working on your fish tacos " 3 people finished eating 0 fish tacos were served

Yelp
We came to happy hour on a Friday and it was nearly empty so we were seated right away. I'm not much of a drinker so I only ordered the short rib quesadilla except it was a more of a meat-dilla because there wasn't any cheese. Normally, I wouldn't complain but the meat was pretty dry and so salty that the cheese would've made it so much better and added a gooey texture to bring the short rib together. I liked that it came with both guac and cheese on the side. The ambience is very relaxing and the interior is spacious with varying tables for large groups and small ones. The service is also good with the waiters checking in on my group often asking if they wanted to order more drinks.

Yelp
I had an incredible experience during happy hour! Everything was delicious, and the staff were exceptionally friendly, making us feel right at home. The ambiance is inviting, perfect for a casual outing or a night out with friends. **Cocktails:** I tried the Japanese whiskey cocktail, which was wonderfully balanced--smooth and rich with just the right hint of sweetness. The margarita was equally impressive, featuring fresh ingredients that delivered a zesty kick without being overwhelming. Both drinks complemented the food perfectly! **Chicken Wings:** The chicken wings were a standout--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They were seasoned beautifully, with just the right amount of heat that kept me coming back for more. Definitely some of the best wings I've had! **Beignets:** The beignets were soft and pillowy, with a crispy exterior that contrasted beautifully with the fluffy inside. They were light and just the right amount of sweet, making for a perfect dessert or snack. **Chicken Quesadilla:** The chicken quesadilla was also a highlight. Loaded with flavorful, tender chicken and melty cheese, it was served with fresh salsa that added a nice zing. Each bite was satisfying and packed with flavor. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this spot during happy hour. The combination of delicious food, expertly crafted cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere makes for a fantastic experience!

Yelp
We stopped in during happy hour for a few cocktails, and they were great! Espresso martini was sweet but not too creamy. The glitter hearts in the foam were a nice touch! The old fashioned came with a stamped ice cube which was fun. I had the strawberry smash on HH for just $10 and this was delicious! Overall a very nice and upscale environment to enjoy a great cocktail in the area.

Yelp
Five55 offers a good variety of food that the family can enjoy. I know this coz my family and I frequent this restaurant especially during happy hour. I often get the burger, honey sweet potato fries, and I recently discovered their salads. The service is good and if the family likes to hang out, they even have board games to play. Try them out!

Penny P.

Yelp
Back again for Happy Hour! This time around, we ordered a variety of items to try out. The Loaded Tater Tots were so good! I liked that they included sweet potato tots in the mix! The Home Made Potato Chips were good too and was a good sized portion. The Bellini was delicious. Unfortunately, service wasn't as great this time around. We had to chase down one of our drinks. There's still free parking validation and they only accept 2 credit cards if you want to split the bill. Overall, still a good Happy Hour spot since the food and drinks are awesome. Plus, right now, if you check in on Yelp, you'll get 15% off the bill!

Yelp
Happy Hour review. 4-6pm Mon- Fri. Parking underground with 3 hours free with validation. No boring intro story. Let's go: -Lychee Margarita $10. I like St Germain so decided to try this. With Patron silver, the cocktail could use less lime and I'm not sure it goes with the lychee syrup which tasted more artificial than it should have. Garnished with a canned lychee, the drink looks good and was fairly strong for $10. 3/5. -Belgian Blonde ale (Duvel) $6. The pour barely had a head and tasted strange, like missing the flavor. I feel like something was up with the draft or keg. -Japanese Old fashioned $10. Very sweet imo and definitely watered down as it was stirred with lots of crushed ice instead of an ice cube. -10 piece wings two flavors $15: lemon pepper and Caribbean. The Caribbean is a mango habanero sauce that's very sweet and not spicy at all which reminded me of orange chicken. Pass on this one for me. The lemon pepper was great and it was dry style. I would recommend this flavor for these juicy wings. Non HH wing price was $17. 3.4/5 -The burger only $10 is a smashed burger so the patty is on the thinner side and was slightly dry. The fixings and bun were good. 3.2/5 -Onion rings $7. Hard and a bit dry with really thick coating (from frozen I assume). Huge pass, we barely ate them. 1/5. Overall okay place for the happy hour hunters in MP. They had the game on many monitors no sound. Staff is very nice and attentive, well dressed and helpful so that's a plus!

Yelp
Great ambiance. Lovely seating choices. Great place to hang out for drinks and happy hour. We have not tried the regular dinner menu yet. But I hope staff read my review and improve what's lacking especially the soggy chicken wings Soggy wings described as crispy!! Not cool and dried out, awful looking carrots. Short rib quesadilla was VERY good. Better dipped into blue cheese dressing. Drinks. Japanese old fashioned. Good. -- ok. Pinot Grigio. Ok not great. Next day I tried the Sav Blanc. It's less sour so I liked it better. But clearly budget wine. Raspberry Bellini was good. Kids had the pepperoni flatbread. They did not like it.

Yelp
I was staying at the Courtyard Marriot and saw an ad for Five55's happy hour in the hotel's elevator. I found Five55 located in the same establishment as the hotel, and it was a short walk across the lobby to the other side of the building. Happy hour went from 4-6pm, so I headed over to the restaurant around 4:30pm. There were a few folks at the bar countertop, but the main dining area was empty. I snagged a high chair with the other patrons. Bar staff was great. There were two bartenders holding down the fort, and they were both friendly and attentive. The bussers were really nice too. I ordered a Strawberry Crush off the happy hour menu but asked to modify the spirit with gin. I enjoyed the cocktail, which was fruity and sweet. I did end up getting a second cocktail, a Clover Club, post-happy hour later in the evening for a night cap. That was made well too. I had their smashed cheeseburger, which was highly satisfying. I thought it was going to come with fries since I've seen it on an online happy hour menu from Five55, but the burger came on its own. I ended up getting the side of onion rings from the HH menu, and they were great as well. The onion rings came in a huge portion, so this would be a great app to share.

Yelp
Delicious food ! Chicken melt, fried chicken strips , chicken Caesar salad & fries Tasty drinks: old fashion & margarita. Hospitable professional staff. Average prices. Clean bathroom (quite a distance of a walk). Lots of TV's & seating (but limited bar seats) Will definitely return & recommend. Free parking for one hour I think for guests. But I didn't see how anyone's enforcing this)

Becca D.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Great happy hour, awesome drinks, awesome food, great service! Definitely try the short rib quesadilla and the loaded tots! Love the lychee margarita and the whiskey sour. Fresh ingredients used for everything. They even have some games to play. So excited to have something like this in the area! Absolutely will return.

Yelp
I'm visiting and met a coworker here for drinks. It's located inside the nice Courtyard Marriott in Monterey Park. The hotel lobby smelled good and looked like a huge study session with a bunch of students (?) on their laptops and socializing. I think there was a boba shop too. The bar was nice. Service was great. There are a few large TVs. The Falcons & Bucs were playing that night. It was a Thursday and not packed at all. I got a margarita and my coworker got a martini, which came with 3 olives. That scored big time with us. Both of us loved our drinks. My margarita was really tasty. I don't give this place 5 stars bc we had ordered chicken tenders & fries. It took a long time for it to come out. I feel like it took at least 25-30mins. There were about 4 tables with people so I wasn't sure why it took so long. The chk tenders looked delicious & fresh. I didn't have any but my coworker did & she ate them all; so it must've been good!

Yelp
I don't like to leave bad reviews, but sometimes places need to be called out when necessary. This place wants to charge cool trendy gastropub prices, while cutting major corners. I was expecting a quality burger more like 38 degrees, instead what I got looked like a cafeteria hamburger. This thing was so basic I couldn't believe my eyes. The patty was probably 1/4" thick on a good day. This burger was on a diet! So thin and simplified, WTF! My wife gets the fish tacos, and same thing! Where's the substance?? They weren't the normal pieces of fried fish that you get at any other place in the world that serves fish tacos. They were these thin little slivers of fish, I think there was more batter than fish. Pretty ridiculous. No wonder this place was empty on a Saturday night, that should've been a red flag. Also the food took a little while, too long for a place that's empty. There maybe was one other table eating, and a few people at the bar watching a game. The place looked cool, and we hadn't been inside the courtyard Marriott yet so when we walked in we thought the vibes were cool, just what we were looking for. But what a disappointment. The service was fine. Our server was polite and friendly. But sometimes hard to get their attention as they were busy chatting and laughing with a group of coworkers since they're all standing around w nothing to do. Too many ppl scheduled for FOH, and clearly not enough BOH. How could this place have so many 5 star reviews? Either the kitchen had an off night when we were there? Or these ppl just came for drinks and luckily didn't order food? Or... are they real??

Yelp
Everything was wonderful. Evin was our bartender and when my friend had questions about drinks he was very helpful and engaged in making her experience the best it could be. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for what you received. The ambience was perfect for a casual night out.

Yelp
Oh wow -- it's become one-stop-shopping at the Courtyard by Marriott on Atlantic in Monterey Park, across from the Atlantic Times Square shopping center with the AMC movie theatre and 24 Hour Fitness. This hotel now boasts an awesome coffee shop (serving all the Starbucks drinks), a Boba place (Bobaful, it's great), a fantastic all-day dim sum place (Chef Tony) and spacious sports bar/restaurant Five55 (it's their address). They all validate! Don't sleep on the happy hour at 555 (4 to 6) -- lots of bargains to be had. Friendly host/bartender/server/busboy staff that checked on us constantly. Highlights are the smashburger (a smashed cheeseburger with fries that is very tasty) and their homemade potato chips that come out hot. Lots of games to play and tons of seating -- for reasons unknown, this place is never very crowded so bring your crew and let the Jenga tourney begin. Feeling green? The casesar salad! It's huge and you'll have a second meal. Other standouts are the chicken quesadilla and flatbread pizza. TLDR; great American comfort food with 100 TVs and games to play.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance, always. Service is great, all servers are very attentive. Bartender always on point with drinks.

Kit T.

Yelp
Good place to do happy hour. It's not noisy. If you want boba, and not beer, there's a boba shop right around the corner. We had their appetizers and it's not bad.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Came here during happy hour 4-6pm, and I have to say I was very pleased with their food and their service. I understand things happen, so when we found a piece of hair in our drink, the bartender was immediately attentive, and fixed the problem immediately and even compensated it for us, which was very kind and honestly expected because it was a gross chunk of black hair. Short rib quesadillas, and their onion rings were so delicious. Will definitely be coming back for the two. Advice: I'd highly suggest providing sour cream, though with the quesadillas. We had asked for a side of sour cream, and the waiter took about 35 to 40 minutes just to bring it , he saw that we were receiving the check and he turned around without even apologizing. It was a little frustrating being that we waited 15 minutes for him just to eat it because we were tired of waiting for him. We would still come here, but this time will make sure that we get sour cream. It's a great place to hang out with friends and I like how they provide games just make sure you wipe it down. Great place for watching games.

Mike L.

Yelp
Holy smokes this place is BOMB! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the bar tender. Got seated right away, and the server showed up right after with water and and menus. Everyone there is super friendly, and always asking if you need anything. And, to top that, the food is delicious. I have the 55 burger on the first night, and the short rib quesadilla on the second night. Both meals were crazy good, and came out pretty fast. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It's located inside of the Mariot hotel off of Altantic and 10fwy.

Mariana Z.

Yelp
Mark provided great customer service, drinks were great. This location shows all games with sound. Will definitely be coming back

Janici P.

Yelp
This is my second time here, it has been a great experience, the service is great, really enjoy their happy hours, food is very tasty! Oh and their drinks are so awesome! The seatings are very comfortable! I love how the music is not too loud and you can hear your friends talking!

Kristin V.

Yelp
Crazy day, during the holidays... Annie was awesome at keeping us comfortable and accommodated! The food was delicious! The drinks were crisp! The experience was salvageable with awesome service ! Thank you!!!

Victoria M.

Yelp
Stopped in at 5 fifty-fives.. What a pleasant surprise. Who knew?? I yelped places to grub before our play in LA. Parked under ground and came up, saw Chef Tony's and thought we missed it. Well, it turns out you gotta walk past, towards the end. It's small but very chic. We got here in time for happy hour on a Saturday, 4-6. even better. Our server was very nice and I ordered a pizza port Cali honey beer, delicious. My guy ordered the coconut Hiwa porter beer which he said was really good, both beers were nice and cold. Food, I ordered the short rib quesadilla, a must try, so surprisingly delicious. My guy ordered the flat bread pizza which was huge, and delicious.. Oh, and the hummus platter. Needless to say our eyes were hungry!! It was a lot of food. This place has been here 3 years and it's our 1st! Will definitely come back.. The only reason I gave a 4 is because the food took rather long to arrive, NOT as hot but warm. Can't wait to try to other happy hour items.. Will return..

Jennifer M.

Yelp
So when this place first opened it was really good Since then they have had many menu changes And on our most recent visit it was less than thrilling Happy hour isn't as good as it used to be they very little food options and the cocktail are just ok !!the regular menu is less enticing and rather pricey I had hoped this place would be a stable go to for our area but this last experience was not the case Service was friendly but slow ~ I think they are just under staffed and didn't seem to have much of a Rhythm I might possibly give it another try considering It's so close to me ....

Sarah S.

Yelp
It was a bit hard to find this place since you have to walk inside Chef Tony and there is another entrance inside the restaurant...overall food was mid, but the drinks were good. It's definitely a nice place to get some alcohol and catch up with friends. I would come back here for the drinks.

Heather S.

Yelp
Great bartender (Mark), Great service, can't beat a drink and some apps while watching the Steelers win! Thanks Mark!

Linda C.

Yelp
Strawberry mash and house chips are a must!!! Had the hot dog and tuna tartare...all delicious! Service is always great!!!

Todd J.

Yelp
I had dinner here and a couple drinks while working out of town. Sorry no picks as I was exhausted and just wanted to eat. But I've been there several times and they never dissapoint. The restaurant is a modern American flare with a nice bar and staff. My steak was delicious and the beer was cold. What else can you ask when your working out of town

Kiera J.

Yelp
Immediately walking in, the restaurant was beautiful! The waiter, Xavier was great too! He was really nice and was understanding. I could not have tomato and had asked for no veggies but received it on the burger. Then, they remade it and it was super pink basically raw. Totally not the waiters fault and he was super nice about the whole thing and did not charge us it. If you go, ask for Xavier! He was helpful, friendly, and started convos too! Also, the onion rings are the best I have ever had and I've had plenty. Food was 5/5 just sad with the chef mistakes.

Carlos L.

Yelp
Drinks are on point, appetizers are great, and, the service is exceptional. Been going here since they opened and have not been disappointed. Atmosphere and ambiance is great and cozy.

Ellen l.

Yelp
The location is inside the hotel. The ambience is beautiful. I love the really comfy couches.! Very chic and modern! I always come here for the cocktails. They're really good made very well. This time we just got the beignets which was pretty good but I think it's made out of filo dough ! They call it beignets, but it's think it's filo dough because I could see the layers in the texture! It was still decent. Anyways, I wouldn't call it beignets but that's what they called it! The first time I had it it was good. The one in the picture was a little bit crispy for me but yes, cocktails are great definitely come for the cocktails! They also have a underground parking and it's right behind Chef, Tony restaurant

Matt S.

Yelp
Came to 555 right when it opened for happy hour. The waiter working was very nice and welcoming. I started off with a Japanese old fashion. Unfortunately there was a hair in my drink, but the bartender was apologetic about the mishap and kindly made a new drink without hesitation and had it on the house. I ordered the onion rings and short rib quesadilla. Onion rings were simple normal onion rings, but they did hit the spot. The short rib quesadilla was very good and I recommend it. The only downside to my experience was I asked for sour cream for my quesadilla and the bus boy that I asked took way too long to bring the sour cream bringing it the same time the check came. All in all, great experience at 555.

amy w.

Yelp
We just came to have a drink after dinner. It's inside the Sheraton hotel in MPK. We ordered fries and two cocktails. It was a nice little place for a drink or you could order food here.. they serve burgers and pizza also. It's a nice place to have drinks and chitchat with friends if you are looking for a bar around the area.

Sandy A.

Yelp
Amazing! Went well, good food, and great ambiance. The service was good. Convenient location, great for families.

Mary G.

Yelp
Best place to hang out! Food and ambiance are top notch but the service is even better

Angel A.

Yelp
Good ambience, good food and attention. Good beer selection. I recommend for a simple date night or a quick bite. One of the most beautiful places I have seen. Thank you 555!

Kyle W.

Yelp
I came here with some friends for happy hour, which runs from 4-6pm Monday to Friday. The prices in happy hour are fairly decent - $10 cocktails, $10 smashed cheeseburger, $10 6pc wings, etc. We personally got the smashed cheeseburger sub garlic parmesan fries ($1 extra), truffle honey sweet potato fries, and 6pc wings for food, and we each got a cocktail. I personally tried the Japanese Old Fashioned which is pretty solid - a bit on the stronger side. I really enjoyed the smashed cheeseburger as the patty is very juicy and the sauce is great, but the buns were a bit on the soggier side. The wings were okay - we got the sweet & spicy Thai chili but the wings were on the slightly drier side. However, the fries were amazing. It was probably air fried(?) since I did not feel heavy or stuffed afterwards, which normally is the case after eating even a tiny bit of fries. The garlic parmesan flavor is very apparent - especially the garlic! I also really enjoyed the sweet potato fries as there is a nice hint of truffle flavor and it is actually quite sweet with the honey. Service is good as they make sure you get the full opportunity to order from the happy hour menu, reminding us about last call for HH pricing, etc. One slight miss is that they never refilled our waters when we were running low. Overall, this is a decent, affordable HH spot in Monterey Park with great ambience, located in the Courtyard by Marriott. Like other reviews say, parking is validated if you park underground (3hr validation) so it is pretty convenient.

Yelp
"I got Five on it, it's Happy Hour, let's go drink. I got Five on it, I want a burger medium w/ some pink." - parody of "Got 5 on it", Luniz Staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Monterey Park, I pondered a refreshing cocktail sounded like it'd hit the spot. Five55 is the Courtyard's resident upscale sports bar & restaurant, and being within Five55's Happy Hour time slot, I made my way over for a tipple. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=e82fKHijQEe0Kr2r-c-Bmg&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Iwai Japanese whiskey Old Fashioned- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pHNGi3XO0qgeQcZbnwXVGA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Cold & refreshing. Just what I was looking for. I'm a newcomer to Japanese whiskey, and I quite enjoyed the flavor. It was bit of a bummer Five55's Old Fashioned didn't come garnished with a cherry. That last bite of cherry to end an Old Fashioned is literally "the cherry on top". Five55 smashburger- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pnvJUa6fQWAhmEyV4y-6dQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Initially set on strictly a cocktail, watching the TNF Raiders/Rams game made me want to stay a little longer & order a burger. I ordered Five55's signature smashburger lettuce-wrapped. It was quite good! The caramelized onion, house spread & pickles made the flavors pop with each bite. The smashburger comes with fries, but I had a Caesar side salad subbed in it's place. Great idea! Enough for a small meal, the salad was crisp & fresh, and I didn't weigh myself down with carbs. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=XdqK_xsIbwWAmT_euKK76w&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Service was okay. It seemed to take longer than it should have for my drink, food, the bill & receipt, considering the amount of customers at the time. Parking is validated for customers. Five55 is a solid Happy Hour food & drink option in Monterey Park. Their smashburger & Old Fashioned satisfied. Minor adjustments, such as adding a cherry to their Japanese Iwai Old Fashioned & improving wait time for orders/bill, would greatly enhance the overall experience.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to stop by Five55! Love the place and ambiance, so let's get to the deets! Location: the restaurant/bar is located inside the Courtyard of Marriott hotel. It is hidden on the right side as you enter the hotel entrance. Ambiance: The restaurant is huge and nicely decorated. Great ambiance for group setting or venue use! Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in Monterey Park. Japanese old fashioned are the best here. All the drinks are delicious. The food is amazing as well. If you're in the area, stop by!

Yelp
Visitation Rights: Been here twice. Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restroom: They're available. Location/Parking: Located inside the Marriot on the corner of Hellman and Atlantic Blvd.. Parking can be found either in their dedicated parking structure (3hr comped if you dine in the restaurant), on the side of the hotel (1hr parking), or along Hellman (just watch for time restrictions). Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with modern furnishings. If you like to play some board games, there is a little section for that. If you're all about the sports life, they have flat screen tv's through out the restaurant to fixate your eyes on. If you like looking at cool decor stuff on their display shelves, you can do that also. Service: Service was great! I like to go when they open (after work) because I get all the staffers attentionThe hostess, Miranda, was very nice and welcoming. She also offered great fun facts about the restaurant, and handed me a menu for me to peruse through before going into the restaurant. Shirlene and Mark bartenders were equally as nice and reassured that my selections I made was a great choice. Food came out at a decent time. Food Of Choice: Items were chosen from the HH (4pm-6pm) menu. https://www.five55la.com/five55-happy-hour-menu.html 1) Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($11): Who isn't a fan of grilled cheese sandwich?? Even though, it can be relatively easy thing to make... I prefer to find gems that offer this classic sandwich. The sandwich consisted of sourdough bread, garlic aioli, 4 Cheese Blend, and a tomato dipping sauce! I was quite bitter at first, because I thought it came with tomato soup. When I read the HH item more carefully..... it stated TOMATO DIPPING SAUCE. I chuckled at myself afterwards. Might have been fatigue staring at the pc all day. The sandwich was delicious and was quite impressed how the bread held up from the melted cheese. The sweet potatoes were quite yum also. 2) Truffle Honey Sweet Potato Fries ($6): It was quite excellent. I would recommend to ask everything on the side and as a creature of habit I asked for no salt/seasoning on the fries. I prefer dunking food items into pools of sauce. If you can't taste the truffle, ask them if they can get you some more truffle oil. There's no added fees for request MORE truffle oil folks! Hail freaken YEAH!! 3) Smash burger ($9) with $2 extra charge for honey truffle sweet potato fries. Presentation of the burger didn't look too great, but once i bit into it. i didn't mind that the presentation was off. I did noticed that the bun would get soggy over time. So hurry up and eat it. Maybe I'll ask them to have the buns extra toasted. Five55 For Thought: Definitely try them out.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I found out about FIVE55 from a Yelp Elite event, but I returned the next evening with my family to introduce them to this place. This review is in no way biased from my receiving perks during the Yelp event. FIVE55 is a restaurant/bar located inside the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Monterey Park. We stopped in last night for a nightcap, which was one night after attending a Yelp Elite event here. We arrived at 10:15 PM and were immediately told that "last call" was going to be in 15 minutes. All of the signage and everything online states that they are open until midnight. When we inquired as to why, we were told that the chefs had come in early, and they are only able to work so many hours, so they had to close early. Not sure if that makes sense. It was a Friday night, and the place was pretty busy, and this is inside the hotel. Could they have not left the bar portion open and just not served food? DRINKS: I was so impressed the night before by their Japanese Old Fashioned that I ordered one again. My wife and mother-in-law ordered the Espresso Martinis. The martinis came out in non-martini glasses, and the Old Fashioned was missing the Luxardo cherry, as they were presented to the Yelp Elites the evening before. Again, I asked why and was told that only the regular Old Fashioned is served with the cherry. They did end up bringing out a couple cherries to appease me, and the drinks were flavorful. This Courtyard by Marriott has a luxury décor. It's easy to get to and easier to find parking (3 hours comped) in their well-lit, large spaces, underground garage. The hotel itself was beautiful and the FIVE55 venue is very nice. There's a large bar with plenty of bar area seating, as well as areas for dining in a slightly quieter atmosphere, even a "private" room with drawn curtains. They have a very nice selection of bar bites, but we didn't try anything this visit. Overall, I was a little disappointed in the follow-up experience to the awesome time we had at the Yelp Elite event. I like to go back to places after a Yelp party just to see how consistent they are with their service and product. Consistency was not there this time, but I would give them another try.

Yelp
What a hidden-not so hidden gem. It's great to have a spacious comfortable gathering spot in the local area without going to Main St. or Pasadena. The food is delicious! I like their burgers, wings, flat bread and wings. The tuna tartare is yummy too! Service is always attentive. Desserts, I've had the cheesecake and beignets. All were on point. I'm a usual basic cocktails person, not too much on the sweet drinks, so I can't speak for how good the cocktails are. I'm happy to hear that the comedy nights are back. Come by to support the local space. Go check out their happy hour as well. Parking has validation for a few hours downstairs. Bright, clean and plenty of parking.
