Peruvian Flavors Meet Chinese Cuisine on Convoy | Eater San Diego

"On Convoy Street I found a new restaurant from Frankin Chou-Chan that blends his Chinese heritage and Bolivian upbringing into chifa, the longstanding Chinese-Peruvian culinary tradition. Replacing Chef Chin, Flama Llama is Chou-Chan’s third area restaurant after he opened dumpling spot Steamy Piggy in 2017 and launched the Formoosa Taiwanese cafe in Kearny Mesa last year. The menu centers on chifa classics — including lomo saltado, a soy sauce–based stir-fry of beef with onions, tomatoes, peppers, and French fries — as well as arroz chaufa (a rendition of fried rice), tallarin saltado (chow-mein-adjacent) and a pesto-proxy tallarin verde. Other items range from mojo pork tacos and Peruvian chicken soup to yucca fries, caramelized plantains and Cuban specialties like ropa vieja and a classic Cubano sandwich. The all-day bar offers beer, wine and sake plus boozy slushies such as a merlot-based sangria and a sake-spiked pina colada, along with cocktails like a yuzu-infused mojito and a passion fruit margarita. It’s open daily at 11 a.m." - Candice Woo

Eater Critic Ryan Sutton Argues Against Restaurants Posting Price-Free Menus | Eater NY

"I found Llama San to be an ambitious Peruvian-Japanese hangout that doesn’t even post a menu." - Ryan Sutton

Bold flavors that pack serious heat don’t underestimate the spice level here! But it’s that perfectly balanced kind of spicy that keeps you coming back for more. The portions are generous. It feels fresh and authentic. We were in a rush so we called in our order and was ready right when we arrived. Their churros. I’m going to be bold and say they’re better than Disney’s. Crispy on the outside, perfectly tender inside, and worth the visit alone. If you love authentic, Peruvian flavor, this is your spot

Google
We just had half the menu here and everything was absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic. The wings were super crispy and flavorful, the fried plantain was sweet and not overly greasy (get it with the green sauce!) Pork tacos were very fatty but so tasty, with super fresh corn tortillas. Ropa Vieja was very tasty. They offer lots of drink offers that are very refreshing! Highly recommend

This was our first here and it started out as a wonderful experience became quiet unfortunate at the end. We had half of the leftovers from the main meal and a few of the appetizers we wanted to take home but we were splitting the food. The waitress was on point from beginning and the middle however as I was going through their unexpectedly long prompts for payment she was in quite a hurry after I said give me a minute as I was paying she cleared the main dish to the kitchen and the food we were going to bring home was trashed. I completely understand that mistakes happen but this was literally half a plate of food that was wasted. She did offer to make it right but my friend was very upset and I was in geniuine shock that good food was wasted. I was looking forward to writing a really good review but the place wasn't busy enough to be in a hurry to clear the table. There was plenty of room for everything to be left. I only noticed after we were leaving that the table behind us had stacks of plates with the customers at the table as well. But our table plate needed to be cleared, it made for a very chaotic situation. The waitress was very apologetic and gave us options to make up for it. Unfortunately I left a decent tip before I realized the food was trashed. Good fusion food.

Google
I don’t glaze service too often but Tonya was genuinely excited to tell us about the cuisine and profiles of each dish. Yucca fries are a must, they are better than french fries in my opinion. Food came out within 2-3 minutes, so nice. After tip for 3 dishes and an authentic Peruvian banana pineapple drink it was $60. Filled us 2 up nicely. Such a quality experience, looking forward to coming back.

Google
Wow, I've been coming here for a couple of years now, and tonight was truly exceptional! 🤩 The service was absolutely excellent, especially from Bella – she really made the experience shine. And the food? Simply great, as always! 💯 I left feeling so satisfied. Definitely a must-visit if you're looking for a fantastic meal and top-notch service.

Google
Great food, it was prepared quickly and had lots of flavor. The spice level is nice but not too spicy. There was enough for leftovers to take home. The menu is also limited and seasonal so we’ll have to come back to see what’s new! I really enjoyed the chicha morada and Leyna and Bella were excellent hosts!

Mykle G.

Google
Stopped in this evening out of pure cusitioty of the branding and name. Talk about service! Interacted with Tanya (princess in the making), Leyna (busting her ass), and Alexis (sweet pea making all the things happen)! Loved these ladies! Tonya served me and was out-freaking-standing! The food? 🤌 So good! I had a couple drinks and the wonton soup with the saltado Mar y Tierra. Loved it! Also had some of their plantains which were exactly sweetened to perfection without being too much. Very tasty! Highly recommend swinging through Flama Llama! FANTASTIC service. Food matches the level of service. Overall outstanding experience! 👍👍

Google
Flama Llama is THAT spot. From start to finish, everything was so good. I ordered the lomo saltado and it was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and honestly one of the best I’ve had in San Diego. The chicha morada was refreshing, balanced, and exactly what you want alongside a rich dish like that. Shoutout to Leyna, our server, she was amazing. Attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. The food, the drinks, the service… all of it was on point. Already planning my next visit. Highly recommend. 🔥🦙

Yelp
Despite arriving an hour before closing, the Flama Llama team treated us with so much care! We had called on the way to the restaurant and they answered promptly. Once we arrived we were seated immediately and our servers Kylie and Leyna were very friendly. They were testing a new menu which was smaller than before but still as delicious. The highlights of our order were the Ropa Vieja and Lomo Saltado. We also tried their Chica Morada (drink) which added a nice refreshing break in between the food. Overall the ambience was very nice and homey. With plants hanging from the ceiling and cute frames around it felt as if you were dining at home. It's cozy and very nice :)

Yelp
The food menu changed and flavor unfortunately not there anymore. The service was great by Tania our server. but I don't think we will be returning because the flavor change and the desert had green onion in it.

Yelp
First off, love this place. But what..... You had the best Cubano in the city, and it's gone.
google avatar

Deb C.

Yelp
Love this place! Had the Lomo Saltado last time I was here. This time I had the Garlic Noodles w/Lomo Saltado, it was excellent! Also throughly enjoyed the Plátanos & Fries Yucca. The Yucca comes with a Cilantro sauce & Habanero sauce that it spicy, but very tasty. Our waitress Emily was wonderful, she checked on is a few times. I will definitely come again..... still need to try the Churros

Yelp
I woke up this morning with less than a plan for Christmas, in addition to a hole in the pit of my stomach. I was starving. My beautiful fiancé was already awake next to me, rubbing her swollen stomach indicating that her and our soon-to-be were also famished. I brought us to Flama Llama, going off a recent recommendation of a trusted coworker, and I have to say, I couldn't be more satisfied. The atmosphere was quaint as it was charming, the service was as professional as it was grounded, and the food was every bit as balanced as you would hope in the unlikely pair of a Peruvian and Asian cuisine. Truly divine. I cannot overstate my recommendation. I don't know what it means to Flama a Llama, but I suggest you go find out for yourself.

Yelp
Came here with my family at 3pm lol. We were the only ones in the restaurant and we had the best time. Thank you to our waitress, Emily, who was so sweet and helpful! We shared 3 dishes and my personal favorite was the pork.... delicious!!!! Definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Stopped by with some friends after a nearby bball game. Yelp reviews and pics looked promising for sure. Our server, Chase, was friendly and answered all our questions. I went with the garlic noodles with added lomo saltado beef. Wife got the lomo saltado with fries. Our dishes came out and they looked great: lots of color, veggies, and beef. My noodles were savory with tons of garlic flavor. The beef tasted like shaking beef. Everyone loved their dishes. A bigger beer selection would be nice but I'm not complaining at all. Service was quick and attentive. Our water was constantly filled. This is a good spot in SD.

Yelp
Went here for dinner. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad either. A good spot with yummy food. The place was clean and nicely decorated and the staff was really polite.

Yelp
I've had this on the bookmarks for a long while. Anticipation peaked ready to experience greatness. Nice welcome, seated quickly on the weekend for hubs and myself. Simple interior with cute llama decor and Spanish flair. Hanging plants gave life to the space. Ample parking available right in front but it was a slow decline after that. Did I just have spaghetti stir fry? The green salsa absolutely saved the dish. Put more of that on everything! One dish was dry, lacking seasoning the next was over salty. I'd have to agree with others the chicken was a bit different. I've tried other Peruvian & Asian restaurants with successful entrees but the fusion thing here is just missing the mark. I assume what caused the delay for our second entree was that it was given to another table that arrived after us. We sat for a while with one plate arriving and the other missing. We didn't order any apps, only entrees as we were hungry, had a long drive and tired. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and were very appreciative of them righting the wrong for one of our delayed entrees. Visited last month. Limited parking right in front but ample parking in shared lot

Yelp
Cute spot with a great menu. Love everything about convoy street. Parking was easy, service was great. Definitely worth a try on an incredibly competitive street

Yelp
Latin Asian fusion a.k.a. deliciousness. OK, that's really a cute place. Not only is a cute it's comfortable with wonderful customer service. There were five of us at the table and every single one with thoroughly enjoyed our food I had ordered the garlic noodles with lomo saltado (beef)- oh my gosh, it was so good I wish I knew what the sauce was on the side because I would love to replicate that The other dishes with the table looked very good. Also, everyone said they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I would definitely come back here again

Yelp
One of my new go-to date night spots! The service is always fast and friendly. Bella, Kylie, and Leyna are so friendly and inviting. The vibe is cozy and I love that it feels so warm and fun, I mean, a big llama!? Come on! How cute! Oh, of course the important part, the food. FABULOUS. Sad they discontinued their tasty wings but hey they still have great dishes available.

Yelp
Very cute place. Plants and stuffed Llamas everywhere. It's just warm and cozy. The food was okay. The Saltados was good--well seasoned and really large portion. It's enough for 3 people to feel full. The elote was a bit too store bought tasting. The corn was from a bag and not cut from a cob. The service was very attentive. We went during lunch and was seated immediately plus the food came out quickly. Really fun place!

Yelp
First time trying Flama Llama. Parking is very limited. The parking upfront is reserved for Flama Llama customers for a complimentary 90 minutes, but beware on busy nights other customers may also park in those spaces for a fee. When we first walked in we were enamored by the colorful llama and plant decor all attributed to Peru and similar Latin American culture. Our server Emily was very attentive and friendly and gave great recommendations. She also informed us that the menu had just changed so there were a few new items when we went. The water service was also super quick. Emily provided us a bottle of water in addition to the glasses we were given. As for our orders... we got the Botanical Chica Morada and Lychee Llama for our drinks. The Botanical Chica is a perfect winter drink. The cinnamon and cloves really come through with the fruit flavors without being overly sweet. It was a perfect thirst quencher. My husband drank the Lychee Llama and found the alcohol to be very strong but he normally doesn't drink. So if you're a soju fan, this is definitely the drink for you. Additionally, we ordered the Fried Yucca. They're essentially potato wedges with a more dense filling but slightly sweeter. However, the Jalapeño Dip they provide with the Fried Yucca was a hit for us. A perfect mix of Jalapeño, cilantro and other flavors. As for our entrees, we ordered very similar dishes: Tallarin Saltado and Lomo Saltado. IMMEDIATE "oh my god" reaction. The marinade on the beef is so delicious. It stood on its own and needed no additional sauce. But adding the Jalapeno dip just took it to the next level. The potatoes, noodles, and vegetables were also all fantastic. We were taken aback with how good everything was and just how much food was given to us. Easy 5, we will be back to try more.

Yelp
Peruvian food is so hard to come by in San Diego. I only really eat it when I go to Miami. It's quite interesting how it's located on Convoy but I guess the owners have some type of tie to Peru and Asia. The Lomo Saltado was definitely the star of the show and that green sauce they give you on the side is super delicious. Their menu is quite small but simple and creative. The decor is really cute with all the plants and Peruvian inspired trinkets. The only con is that it took a while for us to get our food and the service was ok. I also think the place could be cleaner because I saw some gnats flying around and a funky smell when the patio door opened. The prices are average and overall I would come back if I'm craving Peruvian food.

Yelp
Wowwwwwww. Had a short rushed decision to go here with friends and so happy I did! Great group spot to share food. Shared and individual options available and the portions (even the shareable options) are MASSSSIVE. I loved the tamarind wings. Truly my favorite - it was breaded with potato starch. I had the lychee drink as a virgin drink and the server was very gracious to answer questions and make any adjustments. I have gluten issues and a lot of the meat has soy sauce and they don't have a separate fryer but was very open about it. Outside space was SO cute too. Awesome vibes. 10/10

Yelp
Was going to a different restaurant when I stumbled upon this place. The cartoon llama with his head on fire made me and kids laugh out loud. We ordered a mojo pork, lomo saltado and a pasta dish. Everything tasted great and my kids devoured it all. We took a picture with the plush llama on our way out. Overall good food, good service and very cute theming.

Yelp
This review is strictly unbiased, unreflective of Flama Llama's incentivized Yelp review strategy to score a free drink which is against Yelp guidelines by the way. There is a warning listed on their yelp page so I would take the reviews with a grain of salt. Okay, now that thats out of the way lets begin! First impression: interior is absolutely adorable with lots of character and colors. The sequence of hanging artificial plants really add a nice natural lush vibe. The llama and neon sign makes the space so fun and vibrant. Okay let's talk about parking. Parking is free in the private lot however it is small and fills up quickly. The menu is a bit frustrating so I would suggest you doing research on yelp ahead of time. The menu offers hand drawn photos with no description of ingredients, no allergy warnings, just a title in latin under each item. * elote - i am sure they use canned corn because the texture was soggy and lacks that crisp fresh corn texture. For $9.5, i really expected more flavor and the use of fresh corn. I would not get this again. * arroz chaufa - this was definitely the best dish we ordered. The rice had a nice wok hei flavor and the chicken was moist. Paired with the cilantro sauce which added a nice subtle kick, the fried rice was fragrant and tasty. * tamarind wings- the wings were overly battered and the sauce was way too sweet. The chicken was on the dry side making it even harder to swallow. * Lomo saltado - meat was on the chewy side while being a tad underseasoned. This dish wasn't bad but also not good. Service was great. Chase was our server and he was clearly holding down the fort tending to a whole room full of customer with just two servers. You can see how hard working he is and how he takes his time to give a personalized experience. No complaints on service just food quality could be improved.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday 5pm (party of 2) & got seated right away. Our waitress Kylie asked if it was our first time in & let us know about the most popular dishes. We ordered the garlic noodles with lomo saltado ($24.50), tallarín verde ($19), chicha morada & lychee llama. Both dishes & drinks 5/5 stars - tasted as authentic as the cuisine we had in Peru. Service was 5/5 as well. We'll definitely be back with family!
google avatar

Ivayana L.

Yelp
Flama Llama was such a fun surprise! We popped in because we were in the neighborhood, and my friend had never tried Peruvian food before. From the moment we walked in, I loved the outdoor and indoor space lots of hanging plants, colorful decor, and a lively vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. I ordered the garlic noodles with steak and my friend got the lomo saltado. Both dishes were packed with flavor and came in huge portions. We also shared the elote and wings as appetizers, which were just as good. The visual menu made it easy to pick what we wanted, and everything that came out looked (and tasted) amazing. We ended up staying for a few hours to catch up on some work, and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Great food, great atmosphere, and such friendly service.
google avatar

Terri L.

Yelp
Parking is a bit tough but you can find parking in the surrounding areas. There is quiet of bit of seating here which is always nice for a larger party. Highly recommend getting the yuccas and having it with the cilantro crema. The lomos was yummy and I did the regular style of fries. I wish I had the drinks but my party enjoy them. Lenya and Kylie provided great service with checking in and providing the sauces and such. A place to check out in SD for sure.
google avatar

Eleanor Elaine C.

Yelp
Food options were a bit limited for what seems like what is normally offered but they were open for dinner on Christmas Day which was great! Ambiance was calm. Service was good and Luke, our server, did the best he could being the only person assisting the whole restaurant. Kudos to him for handling everything well and getting our food out in a timely manner. Food was really good which also justifies the limited menu. They prioritized quality over quantity.
google avatar

Shirley S.

Yelp
First timer and with a group of fellow peers. Bella and Kaylee gave great service. We ordered family style with different entrees but next time I think I would order a variety of small bites. The Lychee Llama was refreshing. Cute restaurant and tonight a fun vibe.
google avatar

Ana P.

Yelp
Great spot for Christmas lunch! As a vegetarian, our server Tanya recommended me the tallarin saltado with tofu, and it was so flavorful and delicious! Obsessed with the green sauce! I also got to try the fries from the lomo saltado and they were to die for! Amazing customer service and food, can't wait to be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was great! Service was top notch- Kylie, Juliette, and Chase were attentive, asked if we needed anything, and were very helpful. Great atmosphere, relaxed dining space with great decor (plants, artwork). Great place for gathering small intimate get togethers family. Really loved the lomo saltado and the herbal drink is fantastic.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Friday night and was seated right away. We have wanted to try this place for a while because of the super high Yelp rating. My wife ordered garlic noodles with shrimp, I opted for the newly added tipakay chicken. The chicken has a good amount of breading, but it was tender. The sauce kinda taste like orange chicken sauce, but less sweet and a bit spicy. The noodles were super garlicky, but unfortunately also salty and oily. My wife liked it okay, and would have liked it more if it was less oily. We also ordered plantains which were pretty good. The restaurant was decorated nicely with good ambiance. The staff was good, but the food was just okay. We may come back and try something else.
google avatar

Yelp
As I have tried Steamy Piggy, Yun, and Formoosa, I had really high hopes for Flama Llama. Food 3.5/5: We got the saltado, chili tamariand chicken wings, and a peach oolong tea. The only thing that really stood out to me were the wings and I would come back just for these. On the other hand, the saltado was super tough and not enjoyable to chew. Service/Ambiance 5/5: Our server was the sweetest and she was the only one handling all the tables during the lunch rush. Yet, she still took the time to check up on us and was quick with anything we needed. The ambiance was nice and open. Cute decorations and comfortable seating.
google avatar

Sofia G.

Yelp
I got a Mojito and Mojo Pork Fries from their happy hour special. The Mojito was really really good & refreshing. The fries were served beautifully, and also were very crispy, & well seasoned. I really enjoyed the decor here, especially the outdoors. The outdoor sitting of Flama Llama is decorated as a green area, w picnic-style tables. Our server was Chase, he was very polite and gave us recommendations as it was our first time there. Parking was tricky, which is expected for the area. The place itself is good, maybe next time i'll try a more authentic dish.
google avatar

Monique C.

Yelp
Pollo Saltado was the best plate - tender juicy and tasty chicken- I would order that again. The garlic noodles were also tasty but the chicken that accompanied it was bland and tasteless! Tallarin saltado was salty. The churros and plantains were also pretty good, but can't mess those up.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Cool Little spot on convoy with great service. Would rate this a 5 easily but the second time I went there I ordered one entree for there and one to go. I got the Loma saltaldo and it was amazing. For the to go order I got garlic noodles with chicken. I had it one time before but the portion I received was half the size as it was when I got it the previous time.
google avatar

Abdullah P.

Yelp
First time here and loved the place! Ordered the garlic noodles with an add on of lomo saltado (~$24). It seemed a bit steep for the price but it's a lot of food and really worth it. It was a bit busy so a reservation is probably best, but the food comes out very quickly. Will definitely be back to try more!
google avatar

Sara A.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVED This restaurant. I've had Peruvian food before, but nothing like this. Everything in the menu sounded so good so we ended up taking the suggestions of our server. Everything was sooo flavorful. We ordered the Lomo Saltado, Garlic Noodles with Chicken, and the Mojo Pork. So so so good! The restaurant has a great laid back vibe, service was very friendly and, the decor is super cute. It's great for the family, date or with friends, plenty of seating and it looked like they could accommodate large groups. I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait at all for a table. The first 90 min to park is free but you have to pay after that. In this area, parking is enforced so I recommend scanning the parking QR code to be ready just in case. I was with a group of 3 and we ordered an ate at a very leisurely pace and we were out before our 90 minutes was up. I'll for sure be back!
google avatar

Yelp
We tried this place on a Friday night around 5:30 pm so easy to find parking a were seated right away. First time here we got some tips from the server as the menu is just one big page with pics/drawings more like cartoons with a price - zero descriptions. We opted for one dish and what ended up being an appetizer (she had to explain that part) Food was hot and delicious - we liked the noodle dish more than the tacos but both were really good (especially when adding the avocado/jalapeño sauce to taco). Fairly large place but plenty of tables for different sized groups with ample space between. Our first time here and glad we tried it! Lot was full when we departed just 35 min later.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here!!! Great service and delicious food! 90mins complimentary parking was a plus!! Thank you to staff Alani and Leyna for making our first time a great experience awesome. We can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
We dined at Flama Llama with high expectations. It came as the 2nd most reviewed restaurant in whole of SD during out search with an average rating of 4.7 We were seriously disappointed with our experience. Food lacked the quality that we were expecting of a place rated so high. Service was OK . Ambience was very casual. We tried their Tacos (Meh), Garlic Noodles (V Salty) , Saltado(passable) and Lychee Drink (too sweet !) No one in our party of 5 appreciated the dinner. We rushed to the nearest dessert spot to get over a disappointed meal experience. Also did not appreciate the fact that they were offering Free Drink if we left them a review and showed them a picture with Review.

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place since they first opened. Originally we heard it was Latin American/Asian fusion and I was very intrigued! Finally made it over tonight and found out they just changed it to just Peruvian food. If you know, there used to be another place in town that was very popular for their "Latin American" food. We found that place bland (they who will not be named is no longer around either) and when we got here, I was still open minded & hoped it would be much better. Nicely surprised, it was delicious!!! We got 3 things to share. Garlic noodles with beef saltado. Flavorful & garlicky. The saltado was a savory "stir fry" with lots of brightness. Beef was tender but still with a good amount of texture, like a tender steak. Then pork mojo, served with rice & plantains. Pork was tenderly slow cooked (clearly was pork butt) and also flavorful, not too salty. Plantains are cooked with a little crisp and it pulled the sweetness forward. Rice was good with the pork & sauce, but my least favorite so far. (hey I'm Asian & rice has to be exceptional for me to say it's good-like mom's rice!) the pork & sauce saved the rice lol. Third plate was Ropa Vieja. If you've had that before, it usually swings from highly over seasoned to salty af. This wasn't either of those. Tender, savory with a slight smokiness. Also saved the rice with this. Plantains came with it too, and I was very happy with those too. They have Chicha Morada which at first I wasn't sure. The spices (nutmeg, cinnamon & clove) reminded me a little of pumpkin pie(which I loathe--I know I know it ew) and the more I drank it the more refreshing it was. Even got a refill (which is included with the drink) Overall food was quite good, service (Emily) was phenomenal-friendly & knowledgeable--all of our dishes were her suggestions. Only thing I didn't care for was the cilantro sauce (I have that gene where it tastes like soap lol) Vibe & decor is quirky adorable with the llamas! I'll be back with my family!

Yelp
Awesome service, April and Julia were so helpful with the menu options. The twist on the chicha morada was really good. I do wish they would bring back the maracuya. The lomo saltado (steak) was 10/10!

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, delicious drinks, attentive service (thanks Kylie)! Looking forward to going back with the family.

Yelp
First time visiting and I am not disappointed. Food is amazing and the portion is generous with amazing presentation. Our server, Bella, was really helpful with food description and suggestions. Ambiance is really cozy and relaxed. Will dine here again.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday with a party of 6. We had a reservation but the restaurant wasn't too busy when we got there. Parking is pretty limited so be sure to give yourself some time. We ordered a bunch of stuff to eat family style: mojo pork fries, chili tamarind wings, elote, chili wontons, arroz chaufa, garlic noodles and pollo saltado. We had a couple in our group who were vegetarian and the waitress was very helpful in either withholding meat from the dish or putting it on the side. All the food was very delicious! Some standouts were the pollo saltado, garlic noodles, mojo pork fries and chili tamarind wings. All the dishes were flavorful, tasty and cooked perfectly. If I had to pick one dish that was my least favorite was the chili wontons. Still good but all the other dishes outshined it. I had always heard good things about this place and I'm glad that I finally got to try it. It lives up to the hype and I would definitely recommend a try!

Yelp
We enjoyed our lunch here. Tried the plantains, the Tallarin Verde, and the Lomo Saltado. The plantains were yummy and crispy and the chicken in the Tallarin Verde was freshly fried and we enjoyed the pasta that came with it. That one was probably our favorite. The Saltado was good and portion size was generous, we enjoyed the sauce the came with it. The food came out quickly and service was friendly. There is inside and outdoor seating. I don't know if we came at a weird time but most of the inside tables except ours (which they cleaned when we arrived) still had dirty plates on them and it stayed like that while we were there.

Yelp
Tanya our server was very nice she seated us right away served us water and we knew what we wanted so she took our order, the lomo Saltado is always our go to, menu has been updated and condensed but still good stuff.

Yelp
One extra star cause service is fast. It's definitely not your typical Latin American restaurant. Plates are small for the cost ($20+ each). The flavors were just ok. Will I return: nope!

Yelp
Food was great, love the atmosphere, the servers were very nice but the service was discombobulated. My friend and I had never been and were excited to try it, we heard the Peruvian Asian fusion was on point from some coworkers. When we walked in, we were handed an enormous menu. It was easy to look at, but kind of interesting because there were pictures of the food, but no descriptions. OK, no problem, but literally the second we sat down the server asked us if we were ready to order. I don't even know what's on your menu yet! I asked him for a couple of suggestions and had to ask him what the pictures of things were because it was honestly not always obvious. Than a different server came over to us and she gave us her recommendations and explained a couple more dishes. I was interested in trying the Chica Morada drink, and she was very nice and offered us to try a little sample. I'm glad she did because it was not my taste. But then she never came back to ask if we wanted to order one. A little bit later, the first server came back and delivered our food. He put it down and it looked absolutely fabulous and smelled even better. The chicken in the Pollo Saltado was so tender. I loved the sauce on that dish and the other vegetables that were mixed in with the french fries had so much flavor. I couldn't imagine that Mojo Pork could be as good as that, but then it ended up being equally delicious. The meat was beautifully, shredded and juicy. I was super excited that it came with plantains too. So we started eating our food in a little while later we flagged down the girl and asked her if we could order the Yuzu lemonade. That was super tasty and light and went really well with the savory dishes. A few minutes after she delivered the lemonade she came back with a squeeze bottle of a green sauce and set it on the table. Didn't tell us what it was, and it was about halfway through our meal. Ended up being a fabulous cilantro sauce that had a little bit of heat to it. When we were all done, the guy came back and asked us if we wanted to get anything else. We asked for a box and the check, but then he didn't come back for about 20 minutes. It really wasn't that big a deal because we weren't in a hurry, my friend and I hadn't seen each other in a long time and we had plenty to chitchat about and catch up on. I'm not sure if it's always like that, but the whole thing kind of seemed a strange approach to Service. I will definitely come back, what I had was fantastic and the menu had a lot of interesting dishes on it. But I think if I was on any kind of time crunch, this wouldn't be a good spot.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try Flama Llama and i regret not coming here sooner I enjoyed the venue and the show casing of the culture's pride through colors , art and murals. I ordered the Ropa Vieja, and I'm not sure if I'll get anything else after this dish. My tastebuds are imbued with the flavor of the Filipino culture and this dish is similar to a Filipino dish; mechado x kaldereta hybrid The plantains were cooked perfectly with enough crunchy and sweetness The main dish was heaven sent, the sauce is so complex it blasts you with savory sweet tangy all ratios to perfection. Even my friends were mopping up the sauce with their sandwich and rice Don't forget to try an INCA cola to wash it all down

Yelp
The food was disappointing at best. The servers were very nice but clearly overwhelmed. The atmosphere is what I expected for this type of very casual eatery. Nothing overwhelming about anything. Pluses were servers great attitude and decor. Big negative was the time it took to get our food. Wayyyy too long for sure.
